This phone is garbage. If I had to do it all over again, I would put more money in to buy a panasonic phone. The phone has lot of static and people I talk to complain that they can't hear me well. I also have an ATT phone on the same line, and that one works great!

Purchased 2 GE cordless hansets 5.8 GHz 28001EE1
Only one of the units work, The other did not. After contacting Amazon and then the seller and then GE I ended up having to pay shipping and insurance I sent it to "Thompson Product Exchange" as directed and hope for a replacement at some future date, perhaps 4 to six weeks if ever.
Will make any future purchases at local retail establishments.

Phone is large enough to not feel like you are talking into a cell phone, but the numbers stored in memory are not alphabetized. The caller ID often displays "Incomplete Data" instead of showing the number calling while the other phones in the house are able to show the caller information. Definitely better phones out there.

Looks good in living room, appearance go with today's living room electronics. Quality is ok and battery life is good. 5.8 GHz did make a difference in call quality, compared to 2.4 GHz which interferes with wifi.

The voice quality was awful. It sounded like I was talking on a two-way radio. Those on the other end of the line reported a similar lack of quality. Honestly, I've never experienced a phone this bad.

I bought this a couple of days ago. I needed an expandable, and was looking at my local Sears, and saw this cool telephone! It was $49.99, so I thought I'd give it a try! It came with 2 handsets, but it is expandable up to 4 handsets, and I put the main telephone in my bedroom and the other telephone in another bedroom. bought it because you only need to plug the main telephone into a telephone jack. The others plug into an outlet, and locate the main handset, and it still works like a regular telephone! I LOVE IT! I'm going to buy 2 more handsets for it soon! I highly recommend it!

I'm editing my review. At first I had problems but over the last year it has shows to be a great phone as I did keep it. The speakerphone I use alll the time. Lifesaver. Thats my update!!.

This phone was given to me as a gift. I have used a week, but will upgrade in the following weeks to something else as this phone has no backlit numbers. It's annoying dialing in the dark. My first opinions came after letting everything out of the box. NO MANUAL? I'm really hoping this is a fluke. It's a very unconventional dial pad so I really need the manual. I found GE's Thompson Phones website and found a link for the manual. The link pulls up a spec sheet. The spec sheet link pulls up a spec sheet. All their other phones have the same link issue. I called GE. Spoke to Robert, and his extreme Indian accent. GE is mailing me a manual 7-10 bus days. Still waiting.
Let me start off by saying the phone is large compared to allot of other cordless phones.
So how's the phone work? For 7 days, and kind of clueless. The sound come through clear and you can turn the volume up fairly loud...as I like it. The Speakerphone is Loud as well. Sounds like a speakerphone would. No fooling anyone on this one. The backlight is bright green. Caller ID, and call indicator work great. It also came with a belt clip. Well that's it.
It's ugly, silver, and confusing. I must be getting old..lol

A Good Solid Performer.......2007-04-28
This is my 3rd set of GE cordless phones. I think the lifetime expectancy of this product is 2 years, more or less. One base unit made it to 11 months and died. I had the phone set in a condo in Mexico, and by the time I got the set back to the US, GE refused to repair the unit, because I was about 2 weeks beyond the 1 year warranty. GE would not even repair the unit at my cost. So, that is a caviat, but I think it applies to many of today's cordless phones. While the phones work, they work well and have a good range. Pay attention to the fact that the maximum number of add-on phones is 4--and that includes the 1 on the base unit. I tried to add a 4th phone, which GE counts as #5, and it will not "register" with the base unit. So, I have a $45 phone that is useless. Still, I rate this system as 5 stars, because the sound quality is excellent.

Attractive Phone But Lacks Features.......2007-12-28
I bought these set of phones to update a set of Uniden phones I've been very happy with over the last 3 years.
Admittedly, I bought these phones because of the color display and attractive design. Sadly, I'm disappointed by the lack of features that I'm use to with the comparatively priced Uniden system.
Pros: Color Display, Sound Quality, Range, straight forward interface, clock sets itself, automatic global update (changes made on one handset take effect on all).
Cons: Unable to access answering machine from handsets, display hard to read at many angles, unable to assign ring tones to phone numbers, limited ring tones and wallpaper choices, bulky handsets.
concerns: The LCD display on the handsets, when placed in the charger, is on (dimly) at all times so that the clock is visible. This is wonderful since it means the clock on the display is visible at all times, however this is a low quality LCD display and will likely burn out over time.
Overall, the phones look attractive and easy to use, but I would not recommend choosing this phone over the Unidens just for the color display. If you like features and a more compact package with a more practical LCD display, this phone may not be the right choice for you. I am tempted to return the sets but I have enough rooms to keep both systems around.
There is nothing wrong with the phone, in fact I would recommend it to the technologically challenged user, but I'm looking for a few more advanced features to make the phones work to my expectations.

I've had my VTech phone for a couple of weeks now. I haven't had any problems with it. I really love the feature to where I can call up to my daughter's room with the intercome system, instead of yelling up the stairs for her. All you do is press the, "INT" button on the bottom of the phone & put in the handset # your calling to.
The only disappointment I have with this phone is that I wish it would have more wall paper displays & more ring tone options. Other than that, I haven't had any problems so far.

I was disappointed with this system once getting it home.
Pros: Nice looking system, speaker phone and mute buttons on each handset, volume buttons on the side of the phone versus the face, ability to select different wallpapers and ringers for each handset, and of course the expandability.
Cons: Conversations kept cutting out, the resolution of the color LCD was not as high as I had expected, unable to name each handset, and limited ring tones and wallpapers.
Overall, this system wasn't all that it could be for the price I paid and will be returning it today. I am now looking at purchasing the Uniden CLX485 and hope that it will better suit my... wants.
