Call Waiting Caller ID includes a 100-station memory (with subscription to local service) that allows names and numbers to be transferred between handsets or moved into the permanent 100-station speed dial. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three numbers at the touch of a button, activate three-way calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission.
This set includes two handsets; the system is expandable to a total of ten. You can transfer incoming calls between each handset, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). This is an outstanding phone. Very clear. Great features. I purchased for me, my mom and sister. Please be aware of the different models however. The TRU9465 DOES NOT have an answering system, it taps into your local phone company's voice mail box system which is about an extra $5 per month charge. If you want your phone to have the answering system go with the TRU9485.
Good for those coming back to landlines.......2007-12-25
We finally got a landline (my first since college) and we opted for this system after reading reviews and for its selective ringtones. Assigning ringtones to callers (or groups of callers) is a must for anyone use to the same feature on his/her cellphone. Although you are limited to the number and choice of ringtones included on the phone, we have had no problem assigning either individual ringtones to certain contacts or to certain groups (e.g. my friends, wife's friends, etc.).
We have added the yellow water-proof Uniden to the system with no problems.
Phonebook can be copied to all handsets and base, however, ringtones have to be assigned on each phone. So, pick your choices carefully, and just take some time to do so while watching the TV.

I found these to be much better than the panasonic phones that I had been buying. The menus and buttons are clear and understandable. Nothing dissapointing, which for some products is enough.
Nicely integrated expandable phone system.......2007-12-17
Works well, looks good. I have a total of six phones in this system and haven't had a problem in the 8 mos. that I've had them. The only thing I don't like so far is the small clip that snaps onto the back for carrying the phone hands free, i.e. on a belt. It's too short and doesn't hold it well. The phone easily is displaced from its perch and dropped. I end up putting the phone inside my shirt or in a pocket.

Very pleased with phones ease of use and options. The only problem I have with this phone is it's battery life. I am constantly recharging battery compared to my old Sony cordless. I will try to change the contrast on each phone to see if this helps. I have only owned the phone for 2 months and we will see if the buttons hold up after a year of use.

The TRU8885-2 from Uniden is a cordless phone with a built-in answering machine, caller ID compatibility, and expandability to 10 handsets (model TCX800). It comes with two handsets, one that recharges in the base unit and another that recharges in the included remote charging cradle. By using the less-cluttered 5.8 GHz frequency, the TRU8885-2 is able to offer a clearer, more intelligible signal than older phones operating on lower bands. Caller ID/call waiting compatible (requires subscription through your local phone company), the TRU8885-2 holds up to 200 numbers in its internal caller ID/phone directory (100 on the base, 100 on the handset), while the display-and-dial feature allows you to quickly scroll through the caller ID list and dial the displayed number with the touch of a button. Ten speed-dial presets allow you to easily call the most frequently used outgoing numbers, and an alphabetical search feature provides an easy way to locate numbers stored in the internal memory.

Customer (lack of) service hung up on me........2007-11-12
The buttons on this phone cease working within 2 years. If you call customer service within the appointed time, you'll get a remanufactured handset. When I missed the deadline on the third failed handset (yes, the buttons failed on 3 separate handsets), I was told they couldn't help me. When 3 handsets have the exact same problem, the problem seems obviously to be in the construction of the product. The customer (lack of) service induhvidual acutlly hung up on me (I was not yelling or swearing, but I was emphatically displeased), and higher ups offered no help with the phone, even after that grossly inappropriate customer service response. When this product works, it has superior sound. Unfortunately, a phone on which all of the buttons have failed within two years on every handset I have owned and for which they might only provide refurbished replacements is not worth my time. I'll never buy Uniden again, because of the lack of reliability and the lack of customer service.
Crystal Clear Calls with Fantastic Range.......2007-11-06
I have been using the TRU885-2 system for a little over 4 years now and can defiantly say that it is one of the most versatile and feature rich cordless phone systems I've ever used. First of all, the system is very easy to setup and begin using. Calls come through crystal clear and all of the handsets sync their date/time information with the base unit. In addition, you can "direct connect" from phone to phone if you need to reach someone else in your house. Finally, we've used the room monitor feature in a pinch when our daughter was sick but too old for the baby monitor.
We decided to expand to two additional handsets about two years ago. The TRU8885 line had been discontinued but I was pleased to find that the newer Uniden TCX905 handsets worked just fine with the older base system! What fantastic optionality for the future!
In short, these have been great products and I highly recommend them.
Waste of money!!.......2007-10-07
I have owned these phones for two years, right from the start I noticed the range was less than I expected it to be. I could barely step out side of my house and get reception, in camparison with my old Panasonic I could walk any where in my yard and even across the street and get reception. Recently I went to answer this phone picked it up and put it to my ear and nearly broke my ear drum. it kept ringing, I paniced and started pushing buttons, the phone just kept ringing, the handset was charged but would not respond. I missed the call! Stay away from this phone!!

This phone has been out for 2 years as I write this, but it is still one of the best featured cordless phones out there. A single base station can control 8 or more sets making this very useful for people who want phones where there are no plugs.
The handsets have great customization of features. In fact depending on the base station you first associate them with, the feature set will be different. This is a great ideas as you can upgrade from a single to dual line base station, and reuse all the handsets.
Another great feature is the ability to copy the phonebook from one handset to another. This way any time you make a change, you simply send the update to the rest of the handsets, and they have all the same contacts. If someone (kids) wants their own contact list, no problem, you can selective send contacts one at a time so the that the main contact (family cell numbers) can be shared by all handsets, while they still have individual numbers as well.
Anyway amazingly cheap price for this great product! Check out the 2 line version as well since that has similar features and uses the same handsets.

Not bad. The best thing is you can still use the phonebook after dialing a number, if you use a calling card like I do. It has many different ring tones you can set by who's calling you--when you enter them in the phonebook. Deluxe Caller ID has more options than I thought.
But, it does not have talking Caller ID--the announcement function plays your recorded greeting every time and the caller only if they say something and stay on the line.
Each handset does not come with a belt clip. You have to order them separately--easy to do and has low shipping charge.
