The Panasonic 6074 had the features I wanted with a brand name I trust. In particular, the talking caller ID allows us to keep about our activities without having to look at a display to read that it is yet another telemarketer. The intercom feature is a bit unusual in that I have to select a particular handset to call rather than simply ringing all handsets to locate a person. I suppose that would be more appropriate if a phone were in a particular bedroom, etc.
Sound quality is good, and the speakerphone function is better than expected. I dare suggest Panasonic has caught up to AT&T sound quality, and in my opinion have always exceeded them in reliability.

Bought the KX-TG6074B as a replacement for our V-Tech system, which lasted only just over a year! The Panasonic seems to be of quite good quality - feels solid, charges easily, and is pretty straightforward to use. The speakerphone capability in each handset is actually quite handy as well. Very happy with purchase.

We especially like the speakerphone feature. We could all chat together over the holidays, rather than have to run to different rooms to pick up the extensions. The intercom is also a neat feature. A great way to call the kids for dinner, or if you have to ask a question. We like the voice caller ID. I can ignore the phone and let the kids pick up when their friends call.

Depending on the caller or receiver, the volume changes - not during the call, but some people will say they can't hear, some will say it's fine.

While I'm not totally blind, I am getting up there in age. This phone, with its lighted keypad and larger than most LCD, helps out tremendously. While I still reach for my glasses, I think that I could manage to make a call without them if I had to. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't have the LARGE keypad buttons and HUGE LCD that I'd really need, but it does help out much more than other standard phones. And heck, who needs to be able to read the caller ID when this phone tells you who is calling.
If you like features, it's loaded!
** Found an annoyance with the phone.... While you can shut off ringer to second phone, you cannot turn off "answer machine" sound coming from 2nd handset. Best you can do is turn it down on low volume. So much for trying to sleep.

We don't use the advanced features of this phone, but for just talking the sound quality is great. The phones are perfect for telecons and calling customer services: there's a jack for a headset, each handset has a speakerphone built in, and during the call one of the buttons near the LCD becomes a mute button. The handset's shape is pretty comfortable to hold (or fall asleep on) as well.
The one thing that impresses me a lot are the buttons. The shape, spacing, and *feedback* on the buttons is fantastic. This doesn't mean they're big; they're just designed well enough that they don't have to be. I haven't had a phone that's this comfortable to dial pretty much since cordless phones came into existance. Plus the Talk and Off buttons are shaped so they can be easily found by touch alone. Kudos to the engineers, I wish I could tell them how awesome their keypad is compared to the competition.
The only drawback I've run into is not being able to mount the bases on old-style phone wall mounts (the ones with two screws aligned vertically above/below the phone jack). But it seems most new phone systems have this problem today. :(

We are absolutely 100% pleased with the Panasonic KX-TG5777 (bundle=2)5.8 GHz cordless 2-phone system w/ fantasic clear Answering Machine. We especially like the rich color screen(s) and loud speakerphone features. You get an extra charger base for second phone. This "Bundle" package was a "special" offered by Panasonic on limited introductory basis. We were completely satisfied when we ordered online thru Amazon.com seller store "GLOBAZAR" (phone number is listed and they will call you back even on a Sunday)! The paper manual and computer CD package features are first class. The voice quality is A-1 especially with the quiet muting feature when you are "on-hold" and no one is talking. We would recommend ordering quickly as hard to find, but well worth the money for top-end equipment. None of my LOCAL walk-in stores had these in stock! These are the BEST we have ever owned.
Great Phone with Skype.......2007-02-14
Overall I am impressed with these phones and the Skype compatibility, but I have one major gripe that I hope there is a fix for. Why don't phone numbers which are in the phonebook show up on Caller ID as they are entered in the phonebook and not as the phone company reports them? For instance if I have "John Doe 1-888-123-4567" in my phone book, why does the Panasonic display "Cellular Call 1-888-123-4567" when John Doe calls? My old Panasonic used to display my phonebook entry when the person called. Other than that annoyance, the phones are great. Hopefully someone can tell me how to fix my Caller ID issue.

There are a couple of new features on this phone (since the last 2.4 ghz I had from panasonic). Love that this replaced two phones - I could take the high cost and divide it by two phone replacements! With 5.8 ghz, I no longer get disconnected with my wireless router and the features ok (though I never really have a use for the voice enhancer). I do get the occasional "huh?" from people - the volume seems a little low, which knocks it down a star, but it is still rated well - it stands up to three kids!

I bought this phone nearly two years ago and have had no problems. I don't use all the bells and whistles that are available, however, so I can't vouch for their effectiveness; but I do use the answering machine and it has worked well. The range of this phone is good too. I can take it outside and walk around and there is no loss of signal strength. I would certainly recommend this to anyone looking for a cordless phone.
A very fine cordless phone.......2007-03-10
I used a Uniden cordless for many years but the 2.4 ghz interferance with my in-home Linksys Wireless finally got to the point where I could no longer live with it and had to switch to a 5.8 ghz. I bought Panasonic for no other reason than I had one 20 years ago which fell off the roof of my car while driving along and, after it was taped up, continued to operate flawlessly for many years. This phone has a ton of features, most of which I'll never use, but the one I like the best is that the speakerphone is built into the handset(s) rather than the base unit and switching back and forth is totally seamless with little danger of self-disconnecting. The Answering Machine works fine but is unlike many other machines in the respect that, when you are on "call screening", you do not hear your greeting before the calling party speaks.

I bought this phone from Amazon one year ago. Great features and good range. I can walk a block away and still use it. However, everyone complains they can't hear me. There is no way to turn up the volume of the microphone. Only the received sound. Very annoying. This is the second Panasonic cordless I have owned that has had poor sound.

I read a lot of the reviews for this phone before I bought it. Many of them start out this way: "I tried many different phones over the years and none of them worked very well until I found this one." You can include me in this group. I think I've had four different cordless phones in the last four years.
This is a great set with good features. The talking caller ID is great for people with kids that may have trouble dropping what they are doing and running to the phone when it rings.
One of the difficulties buying online is that you don't get a sense of scale. I've had Panasonic phones before that were quite large and I was afraid these would be as well, but they are very compact, solid little handsets. Great speaker volume and the voice enhancement feature is very nice for muddy lines or calls.
I've had it a few weeks now and I can strongly recommend this phone.
One little problem - Out of the box, one of the handsets didn't function. Flukey thing. I didn't notice anything like this in the other reviews. I called service and they had me ship it in and I got a refurbished handset of the same model. It works fine and is in good condition, so I'm happy with it.
Other than that - buy this phone if you're sick of futzing around with the other ones.

I have read MANY reviews on this phone and they all ard good, EXCEPT for the range. It is really good, but thru brick walls, I really wonder. I go behind my house with little abstruction and it is NO WHERE NEAR what my old 900 mgz would get. Then there the so called security issue, 5.8 or 900, it's hard to find a 900 now a days.

This is a terrific phone. It has a ton of great features and the three handsets is very convenient. This is the only phone that I use now. I only keep one analog phone for power outages. If you're looking to clean up a little bit of phone clutter this is a great way to do it.

I purchased these phones for my parents for Christmas, fearing all the functions would be hard for them to use, or to figure out. Glad to say they took to the new phone system with little frustration. They really enjoy the talking caller ID, as their first request from a phone is clear and readable caller ID, having it spoken is a great feature. Another great feature is you do not have to program each phone with your phone book entries, simply do one, then send them to the other 2 by pushing a single button, very nice. Overall these phones are terrific and will provide my parents with trouble free, crystal clear phone messaging for years to come.

I bought this phone to replace my Uniden phone. So my comments are based on my comparison of my Uniden and this phone.
PROS:
1. Long battery life - I have never gotten the "low battery" signal on the handset after talking on the phone for several hours like I constantly got with the Uniden.
2. Mute and redial buttons on the base. On my Uniden model those buttons were hidden in the menus of the base and handset.
3. Clear sounding. I've gotten complaints of static on the Uniden model. I've never had that with this phone.
CONS:
1. No address book display in the base, only in the handset. This is important because if I want to use the speaker phone in the base, I have to either dial the number from my memory (which makes me have to memorize numbers like the old days) or lift the handset and find the number in the address book display the dial it and wait for a connection before I can put the handset back on the base to tallk through the speaker phone from the base. This is a design flaw if you ask me. I wouldn't have bought the phone had I known this before. The Uniden phone had it right. They had an address book display in the base of the unit so you could make a call on the speaker phone from the base by looking up a number in the address book display and press the speakerphone button without picking up the handset.
2. If someone calls while I'm on a call I will get a call waiting signal but I won't get the caller id name in the handset display. The handset will display the words "Missed call". I won't see who called until after the call when I look at the caller id list. This is another very important feature that Uniden got right but Panasonic seemed to miss the target on.
Other than those 2 very important things the phone works ok. However I would not have purchased this phone had I known of the limitation that I have described.

This is a great system. The color screens are vibrant and easy to read. The sound quality is excellent. Set-up was relatively easy, but it did require one call to technical support (which was responsive and able to resolve my issue quickly). The batteries required every bit of 7 hours to charge upon setup, and the indicators were slow to respond to the charging process. However, after 7 hours the indicators showed that the batteries were fully charged. The phones permit download of your own songs and pictures to indicate specific ringers and pictures. The setup for the latter was quick and easy. Obviously, a great deal of thought and planning went into the production of this model. Overall, great set !
