Overall Great Phone System Has It All.......2007-10-03
I bought this phone to replace another brand phone I had purchase a month earlier that was terrible. I already had an answering machine and caller ID box, but decided to go for the GE that had it all. The sound quality is fantastic - I can hear everyone like they are in the room with me - no more "huh, what did you say - can't hear you!" The answering machine is easy to set up and the message are played back clearly. The caller ID shows up on the handset when the phone rings and you can scroll through the other calls directly on the handset. It's compact and takes up very minimal space and can be desk or wall mounted. I have had GE products in the past and have generally been pleased with them.

This phone is garbage. If I had to do it all over again, I would put more money in to buy a panasonic phone. The phone has lot of static and people I talk to complain that they can't hear me well. I also have an ATT phone on the same line, and that one works great!

Purchased 2 GE cordless hansets 5.8 GHz 28001EE1
Only one of the units work, The other did not. After contacting Amazon and then the seller and then GE I ended up having to pay shipping and insurance I sent it to "Thompson Product Exchange" as directed and hope for a replacement at some future date, perhaps 4 to six weeks if ever.
Will make any future purchases at local retail establishments.

I find the volume of reception varies during a call. I also find the speaker phone volume not loud enough nor constant during a call. Overall, the phone is not quite what I had hoped it would be.
Terrible Phone for the Money.......2007-09-26
This phone does not work at all. At first, I thought is was my VoIP when it would disconnect after several minutes of speaking with your party. It did not happen all of the time, but enough to get frustrated. So when I recieved the digital voice service, the same results occurred. In addition, If my wife answered the phone and it was a caller asking for me, I had to talk from the unit that was answered by my wife. The other two (2) units are therefore deemed useless. Do not waste your money.

Original equipment replacement/expansion base. The phone is fine, a bit clunky, but has clear call quality. It's being used with the local cable company's service and fills the need quite well.

The phone works great, love the conference feature. The biggest downside is that you can only use one phone from the set at a time. So if you have the base unit phone and a couple extra handsets, only one can be in use. If you answer one of the phones and it is for another person, he/she HAS to use the phone you answered. The other phones will not pick up the call. So you have to walk the phone to them even though they might be sitting right next to another handset.

At first this phone system was GREAT. But then,for no reason, you would answer the phone and the cordless phone
would just beep at you. I reregistered the cordless phone with the base and it would be ok for awhile. But what I
really like is the GIRL'S voice in the middle of the night saying (in a loud voice) "Press MEMO to recieve setup
instructions" There is no volume control for this message, I tried.It is random, you might here the message every 15
minutes or sometimes every 1/2 hour or every hour. My remedy was to unplug it. The first one went into the trash.
I paid 99.00 EACH for both of mine. After awhile all I got was black bars across the display which render the whole
system useless.

This phone not what I expected, the sound is horrible and no matter how many times change the channel there is static on the line. Everyone I talk to tells me that the phone is full of static....I am returning it and going back to AT&T brand.

I would definately not recommend this system to anyone. Answer Machine playback volume is HORRIBLE. Caller's say they cannot hear what you are saying, poor microphone quality. The reception always has satic, even if you try and change 1/27 channels. I am truly sorry that I picked this phone. Price was nice, but the value is just not here.

I thought most phone sets were comparable these days, boy was I wrong. We just got this phone and I wish I had saved the packing so I could have taken it back. This phone gets a lot of static and it always sounds like you are in a cave. Now we just found out that the answering machine is losing messages.
You can do much better for the price than this.

on the box its says "40 Name & Number" but in fact you can only save 10 phone numbers in your address book which is consistent with the user manual. Not sure why any phone made in this day and age would only have 10 memory slots. The phone looks nice but I'm returning it.

I have had this phone for one year. I bought it because of the lightness of the receiver, the sound quality and the GE name. Unfortunately, the battery life is quite poor. I had a Panasonic for two years and it took many days and a lot of usage before the low battery signal came on. Unfortunately, Panasonic's products are poorly made and die after less than two years. Maybe this is the planned obsolescence of all cordless phones. But, you will find after two or three months, that the battery charge lasts less than one day or will be used up after a fifty minute chat. Buyer Beware.
Looks Good and Works Good.......2007-10-11
I've owned these phones for about 8 months now. So far, the batteries are running strong and I've had a good experience with the phones overall. I'm using one of the phones in the basement, and sometimes I will pick up a little static on that phone, so the range may not be the best. However, the phones we use most often upstairs near the base have worked great.
A couple nice features:
PAGING: you can page any of the other handsets from your current handset. This comes in handy when the wife needs something and can just page me instead of coming down to the basement to find me.
MONITORING: you can monitor any of the handsets remotely from another handset. Just press a button and you'll be listening in on whatever is nearby the handset of your choice.
TALKING ON MULTIPLE PHONES: contrary to a previous poster, you CAN talk on multiple phones at the same time. Perhaps they were thinking of another model, because we talk to our parents on two of the phones at once quite frequently.
ANSWERING MACHINE: We haven't messed with this much, but there are 3 separate mailboxes and you have the ability to check messages through the handsets as well as the base. We haven't had a need for this, but I can see where it could come in handy.
I'm not sure why this phone has received such mediocre reviews. I've been very satisfied with it overall. If you need long range, perhaps you should look at other options. If you're not as concerned with the range and want a solid, nice-looking phone with good features, this is the one.

This unit took only a few minutes to install once I charged the batteries. I used all the defaults for voicemail, etc because I am lazy. The receiver volume control goes up to "4" and for me, at the maximum, it could be a little louder, especially if there is competing noise in the room. Other than that, I have no complaints and am pleased.

I bought this phone expecting better reception and range, but did not see any improvement at all. Only major complaint is that the keypad does not light up like previous GE models I had bought.
I like the "do not disturb" button on the base that turns off all ringers.

Solid phone with some great features.......2007-09-11
This is a terrific cordless system, with good sound and no interference noise or issues (even in the same room with my wireless router), excellent range, and long battery life. The answering machine, with 3 separate mailboxes and 2 available outgoing messages you can switch back and forth between, is feature packed for a system as value-priced as this one. The best feature of all, especially in an expandable system, is the Do Not Disturb button on the base -- one push and every handset is automatically silenced! Fabulous for use in a home office environment.
I'd give it 5 stars, but the handset itself is a little awkwardly shaped around the speaker, belling out and making it almost impossible to hold snugly against your ear if you're trying to hear better. It isn't always a problem, but if you're talking to someone who's rather quiet and have a lot of background noise on your end that you're trying to overcome (kids, dogs, life in general) it can quickly become uncomfortable forcing the handset speaker up against the side of your head! Of course, then the hands-free speakerphone or headset jack come in quite handy as options.
All in all, an exceptionally worthwhile purchase.

I love this phone! It has every feature I wanted, and it works great. Don't be fooled by the three handsets in the picture, this model only comes with two (which was fine by me). My only complaint is that one of the batteries in the main handset is bad and the handset will die after about a half hour of being off the dock. I'm going to call the company and have it replaced. Other than that, GREAT PHONE!

The phone is excellent so far. It was everything I thought it would be. What I didn't like is that it shows 3 phones in the ad but they only send you 2. To me this is false advertising. They should show actually what you would be getting.

This phone was nothing but a headache. Battery didn't last over night. Range distant was very short (couldn't step outside or in garage). Phone had to be set on base perfectly or it wouldn't charge. Easy to hang up when trying to balanced from shoulder to ear. Was returned within a week.

I have had this phone for about two months now and am pleased, altho I have since seen it priced cheaper elsewhere. I needed it because of my 2.4 GHz phone was interfering with my wireless network (or vice versa, I am not sure which). I have had no problems at all with the volume and it takes up very little room in my study, which is what I wanted. Overall, a very nice phone.

Well I have had this phone for a couple of weeks now. Like the title says, it works. Nothing special about it, it does what its supposed to do, so thats good. A couple things that I didnt realize before purchasing are that there is no backlight for dialing besides the talk button. (this was totally an oversight on my part, not a misrepresentation of the phone). I also have a blocked phone number, in order to unblock it I have to dial *82. I normally store frequently dialed numbers with the *82 prefix into memory. I am unable to do this on this phone, because the * key, doubles as an exit key. Also the display is not the clearest. It is a 3 line display, the top line indicates time/date/call #, the bottom line indicates callers name. These are both in an easy to read bold face font. The middle line which indicates the phone number is in a totally different font that is hard to read. Size and reception of this phone are good. It also has a message waiting indicator light. Overall the phone is an ok choice.

Phone is large enough to not feel like you are talking into a cell phone, but the numbers stored in memory are not alphabetized. The caller ID often displays "Incomplete Data" instead of showing the number calling while the other phones in the house are able to show the caller information. Definitely better phones out there.

I bought this phone for the sound quality, styling, economical use of desk space, and the GE name. It has very poor battery life. I say this as the previous owner of a Panasonic which died before two years. This battery stays juiced for about a fifty minute call or a day off the base. Then it will beep loudly to signal low battery. It is not easy to find batteries and they run about 15 to 20 dollars. Since I have only had the phone one year, that seems like a big chunk of change to put out for a phone I paid about forty dollars for.

It's fine. Voice for answering system sounds a little cheesy/desperate. After trying unsuccessfully to find the information, I was disappointed to discover that I could not use the 28021 handset I already owned with this new phone as a bedroom phone. (Maybe if I plugged it into the bedroom jack, which no longer works...)

This telephone-answering machine works flawlessly with my Sunrocket VOIP service.
My wife is too technophobic to use the Sunrocket voice mail, so this solved the problem. I beleive that Sunrocket tech support is unaware that this phone is compatible with their service.

I bought this phone for my elderely parents. It seems to work fine but my father can't figure out how to use all the features because the instructions are definitly not user friendly. I don't have the time to really play with it. But they both love the speaker feature as they are a little deaf!!!
I would say it's well worth the money and it doesn't take up too much space and it's attractive looking.
