This is a beautiful phone, outstanding in appearance, very shiny and expensive looking. My only complaint with it is the weight. It is very heavy. The box says 5 lbs, but it feels much heavier. It is for mounting on the wall, and my worry is that if the receiver falls out of my hand, or off the wall, it could kill one of my pets, or even injure me, it is that heavy. I am reluctantly returning it and looking to purchase one that is lighter in weight.

After a kitchen remodel I wanted to replace the standard plastic wall phone. I was surprised that I couldn't find a wireless phone like our primary phone but wall-mount instead. I bought this one because it matches the stainless steel appliances and I think it looks good. I like the heavy and solid feel.

Hi,
Have had this phone for a month or so now, hard to really get overly excited about a phone, especially one that's just a phone.
We had a Sony Answerer we really did not need, as we run a office out of the house and a 2 line answerer in the office.
This phone seems well made, the ring is loud even on low and the Headset is very heavy by todays standards. Not that its that big a deal, it adds a emergency fixed line phone and matchs the decor of our kitchen with SS appliances. If you want a phone with the latest and greatest goodies, you better look elsewhere, this is a retro look phone and it excels at its intended purpose and looks pretty cool doing it in our Kitchen.

The phone is better than I expected. It feels soid looks great! I like the combination of retro design but in a sleek modern brushed aluminum. The ring is nice and loud and it too sound retro. A great buy!

Since the day I hung this beautiful phone on the wall I've being dealing with a HuMMMMMM sound on the line.
I tried taking the phone to another house but still I have the HUMMMMM sound.
Consider your buy because I've had a bad experience with mine.
I even call the telephone company and they came to my house in order to check the line, and told me the problem as on the phone.

Very nice well made phone...a REAL wall phone with a long cord and a secure cradle to hold the handset - unlike my previous one whose handset would fall off the phone when you as much as walked near it, endangering feet, pets and grandchildren. The earpiece fell off.......2007-05-07
right after I unpacked it & never quite went back on again & it makes this staticky noice that we have traced back to the earpiece. They offered to refund everything but I never got up the energy to send it back. Plus it looks so cool...I don't really want another phone. It totally goes with the decor of my apartment. Looks like an original installation.
Oh yeah...and people tell me they can hear me breathing into the receiver LOUDLY. But I still dig the phone.

A statement of style, grace and elegance. The 302 Series Phone was introduced in 1937 and was the first in the collection to incorporate the bell in the base of the unit. Designed by Henry Dreyfuss and originally cast in metal, this piece was later produced using a heavy-duty plastic housing. The retro style appearance is combined with a rugged construction earning it the nickname "The Cow's Hoof" because of its lipped hoof-style base. This early desk version served as the standard for the better part of World War II while telephone design efforts were halted due to defense work. Phone arrived quickly. Looks great. It's of sufficient weight that it doesn't slide around when using it. Nice nostalgic ring to it though I wish the volume had more adjustments. All in all very happy.
Crosley 302 -- made me Cross!.......2007-12-06
The hardwired 7' cord is silly for a wall phone. I was intending to put a 25-50 cord on this given that's what it was intended to replace.
The other issue is the ringer....they attribute the "meek dingk" ring to having too many phones plugged in which decreases volume. Hmmmm....the ORIGINAL BELL wall phone that was replaced didn't have any problem with decibels.
While the looks and heft are nice, it doesn't make up for the other deficiencies. Conclusion: NOT WORTH the purchase price.

This is the heavy duty, easy to hold, desk phone with the familiar old-fashioned ring. The flash and redial features are incorporated in the face plate. This is a great product.

For anyone who wants a wonderful retro phone (i.e., not sure the era of it but it seems very 30s-40s to me), this is it. My grandmother had one of these and it certainly looks and feels authentic. It is substantially heavy -- the handset has weight to it, just like her old handset. We have an old house with a phone nook so this looks just perfect. I thought the price was pretty reasonable too. We also have the wall phone counterpart to it in our kitchen and that looks and feels great too.
The only potential downside to the phone is that everything is hard wired into it (i.e., you cannot change out the handset cord or the wall cord if it becomes damaged or you want something shorter -- it's that authentic!) Hence, if you are going to do a lot of stretching of the cord, sitting far away from the phone, etc. it could potentially pose a problem down the road if the wiring becomes loose due to wear and tear. That being said, any electrician's repair shop could probably fix it and whose to say that will even happen. Crosley has been making phones for years and their products are solid and well made. In my opinion, the benefits certainly outweigh any concern associated with this aspect of the phone. I would highly recommend it and the wall unit to anyone interested in this classic look.
Retro Charm, Sturdy, Fully Functional.......2007-01-05
if you're looking for an old fashioned phone without the dialing action, this one fills the bill. great sound quality, nice weight, good button response, and so far, no glitches. it even has flash & redial buttons cleverly disguised in the center of the keypad. no caller id lcd or phone number memory, but that would really spoil the retro charm. we use an antiquated ameritech caller id machine with it, and the two get along fine.

Hard to find a red wall phone.......2007-09-08
I really had a difficult time locating a red wall phone. This one is ok at best. The handset is very heavy & not designed to "lean on your shoulder" while doing other things. I've also had a problem with a "humming" sound while talking on it. Other phones do not do this in the same jack.

The 302 is an accurate replica of a forties/fifties wallphone updated with a pushbutton dial and redial feature. It's a hefty unit, especially the handset, and has a wonderfully authentic ring. Build quality and finish is very good. Installation is flexible and easy. Nice product. $35 is a good price. Too bad shipping ($15) is so high.

I love the way this phone looks.
I really wanted a corded phone not only for power outages but for when I have misplaced my cordless phone. In an emergency, it is wonderful to know that I can just grab this phone. It is one less thing to worry about when caring for small children.
The cons are that the receiver is heavy and the push buttons are a little awkward, since I have become accustomed to the arrangement of buttons on a cordless phone. However, since this is my emergency phone, and it's very pretty, this is not a big issue to me.

The phone is well built and easy to install on the wall. However the handset is very heavy, something that the product description doesn't mention. As a result, it's uncomfortable to use if you're on the phone for any period of time.

Excellent Product! You just can't buy a phone like this any more. I got sick and tired of light-weight plastic phones that fall apart too quickly. When I saw there was a company that still made a heavy duty phone that lasts,I jumped on it. We've been very pleased! We would hightly recommend this phone to anyone that is willing to sacrifice the flashy electronic options (caller i.d., speed dial, etc) for a phone that is as durable as anything made. The apple-red color looks good on our kitchen wall too!
