Flawed Product, No Customer Service, No Recourse.......2007-11-26
Technical support at Magellian admit the Roadmate 6000T is of poor quality, technically flawed and should not be purchased. This is the only helpful, albeit too late, assitance received from the company.
The audio on my Roadmate 6000T ceased functioning after 8 months of use. I was told by Magellian's technical support people at the call center in India, the unit had to be sent to the ONLY repair center in the US, which is located in Texas. I did so on Sept 7, 2007. Having not received the unit back by late October I called again and, although it was already obvious they had lost the unit, I was told it was being repaired and would return in 5 to 10 days. 14 days later, when I refused to believe them when they said it would NOW be returned in 5 to 10 days, I was referred to another department (still in India). 1hr and 56 minutes later that person admitted the unit had been lost and they would provide me with a NEW .. but different unit (of lesser value, but theoretically better quality because the 6000T is a flawed designe) in.... 5 - 10 days. 10 days later, I was informed the unit was inexplicably not sent out, but will be sent out via two day air and I would receive it in 3 days. 10 days later, I was informed it has not been sent out and there is yet another error in the order, but I will be receiving it in.... 5- 10 days.
The company does not have a customer service or complaint department. They freely admit that all call centers are located in India and that it is not possible to speak to anyone in the U.S. to voice any kind of complaint. They refer you to the website, but there is no complaint of customer service available there either. If you write to the "webmaster" no response will be received.
The product was flawed and the customer service is inexcusable. And no, I still have not received the unit back.
Gets me where I want to go!.......2007-11-08
Most satellite and tower-driven gadgets do not work well where I live in northern Wisconsin. Cell phone service is limited and very poor (Verizon, Sprint, T-mobile do not even bother with us), so I was a little shaky about buying a GPS. Much to my surprise the 6000T works great here. One of its main uses is for me to find my way back to boat landings on small lakes located deep in the forests. Fishing the large popular lakes here in the summer is a joke with all the skiers, PWC's, and other assorted floating junk people bring north to tear around on the water.
It also gets me into and out of the cities, like Wausau, Madison, and Milwaukee when I am forced to go there for one reason or another. I would never find my destinations or the way back through them to I-39 (Hwy 51) without it!!!
Once in awhile, though, it will try to send me on a tangent. But I have heard this is not unusual for other GPS's, too.
Tech Support a Joke!.......2007-10-31
I have owned the Magellan 6000T for 8 months. 2 months of that time it has not worked because of a poor design in the car power adoptor. I opened a support case 8 weeks ago, called every week for status of the warranty part, and have gotten nowhere. A support supervisir will not return calls as well. Besides the terrible customer service, the device locks up evey couple of weeks and forgets all the saved locations.
I will never buy a product from Magellan again because of the worst "customer service" I have ever experienced in any industry. If you want a GPS, look at another brand all together.
It's Great - When It Works!!!.......2007-10-03
The Magellan 6000T is incredibly easy to learn and easy to use. It gives me confidence to go places that I otherwise would be uncomfortable trying to navigate, since I'm not great with a map.
The downside: it locks up constantly, and sometimes re-setting it just doesn't happen. Therefore, I don't feel confident that I can ALWAYS count on it, and that's a bummer.
When it's good, it's very very good . . . when it's bad, it's horrid!

Received my 6000T last Christmas from my wife and daughter. Never had GPS before and love having GPS in the car.
Unfortunately, updating the unit for the newest firmware (mine has an older version out-of-the-box) or receiving the new maps which reportedly came out September 2007, I am stuck. Magellan is not mac compatible. It also is not compatible with all window op systems. Only certain ones.
E-mailed to Magellan - they offered no help nor suggestions. Sigh.
The 6000t has slot for a SD card. If someone at Magellan really cared, they would offer updates on a SD card. Wouldn't need a computer at all. Problem would be solved.
My next GPS will be a Garmin, I think.
