GPS
The differentiating feature of the iQue 3600 is its integrated GPS capabilities. Garmin's innovative Que technology delivers location awareness, electronic mapping, automatic route calculation, turn-by-turn voice guidance, and map data interface to the iQue 3600. Que technology enables users to see where they are, find a street address, know where the next turn is via visual and voice guidance, get back on track when they've strayed off course, and navigate efficiently to their desired destination.
Detailed Mapping
Users can choose a configurable basemap of North America, South America, Europe, or regions in the Pacific Rim, with generalized information on highways, major city streets, highway exit services, railways, rivers, lakes, and state, provincial, and national borders. The iQue also has the added benefit of detailed street information on the included MapSource® CD-ROM, giving users the capability of looking up restaurant addresses, hotels, local attractions, transportation hubs, emergency services, and much more. Once a desired point of interest is chosen, you have the capability to view more info or even show it on the map screen. The mapping capability of the iQue 3600 makes it a versatile companion for the international frequent flyer who travels, for instance, between New York and London or San Francisco and Hong Kong. |
|
Customizable maps mean never getting lost again |
Powerful Organization
The iQue 3600 is built around the Palm OS 5 platform and offers standard Palm applications, such as Address Book, Calculator, Date Book, Memo Pad, and To Do List. And there's enough processing power to search large databases of stored information and to enhance display graphics with easy-to-read fonts and crisp electronic maps. There's also a voice recorder for making memos, quick notes, and messages. With 32 MB of built-in memory and an expansion slot, you can even store your favorite MP3s.

High-Tech Integration
One of the key benefits of technology integration on the iQue 3600 is its patent-pending contact-locator feature. Enabled by Garmin's Que technology, this feature connects the Palm Address Book and Date Book to the GPS electronic map to give the user the ability to navigate directly to a specific address within the user's contact database.
System
The Garmin iQue 3600 features the new Motorola DragonBall MXL ARM9 microprocessor, and boasts 32 MB DRAM. This handheld is powered by Palm OS 5, which offers the processing power to take on the most demanding mobile computing tasks, together with advanced multimedia and the wireless connectivity and security that enterprises require.
Display
The iQue 3600 delivers brilliant images with its 2.16-by-3.24-inch display. It has a 16-bit color display with 320 x 480 pixel resolution.
Expansion
Expand your iQue 3600 via its Secure Digital slot.
Software
The iQue 3600 comes with the following Garmin Que applications: MP3, GPS Clock, Address Lookup, Electronic Mapping, Track Log, Trip Computer, Automatic Route Generation, and Turn-by-Turn Voice Guidance, as well as these Palm OS 5 applications: Address Book, Calculator, Date Book, Expense, Mail, Memo Pad, Palm Reader, and To Do List. In addition, it includes these third-party applications: Astraware Game Pack, Documents to Go, powerOne Personal Calculator, StarCaddy, SplashPhoto, and Vindigo.

Old Friend but time to move on - If dead try hard reset.......2007-10-23
Had this as my travel buddy for many years but now like the Nuvi 660 far better since I no use for the other palm functions.
It drove me batty many times trying to update maps etc but after hours of patience it always got back to working.
When the unit seems "dead" - be sure charged up or on AC power and do a hard reset. This often brings it back from the dead.
NOT SURE JUST YET???? PC NEEDS DVD DRIVE.......2007-10-22
I'm surprised no one mentions that you need a DVD Drive to load software for this unit..?? Unit looks new.. came with auto charger base... Does not work with WINDOWS 2000, or VISTA, I have a Windows 98 PC and it did work with that... I had to buy a external DVD drive to load software...
It has crashed a few times during its first few days of operation..so I'm not sure of its future... Get a 1 gig SD card to load maps and you'll be good to go,,, I hope it doesn't crash anymore.. otherwise $165 isn't that bad....
We call her Miranda.......2007-09-19
This is my second Garmin PDA. Both have been great.
The screen is large and easy to read, even daytime in the car. The mapping and directions have worked perfectly. I find the voice prompts so pleasant that my family named her Miranda. She kept us on track for a long vacation this summer. I work for State government and have to visit county offices all of the place. I use the PDA features to track my appointments, expenses, and the like. I use the GPS features to get to where I am going without difficulty or delay. The included programs are easy to use and understand. Handwriting recognition is good.
I just upgraded to the 3600 from the 3200. I loved the old and have found the new one to be everything and more.
Don't buy this!.......2007-09-18
I purchased this refurbished unit a couple of weeks ago. It stopped working the day I bought it, but not before it completely messed up my palm desktop. And to add insult to injury, this unit is discontiuned and the one that I got was a very old version of the GPS. Buyer beware. If it sounds too good to true, it probably is!
DOA .......2007-09-17
got it went through all the instructions, and the unit would die as soon as ac unplugged

Customer Reviews:
A useful Palm5 device with ocations GPS functionality.......2007-10-31
Its an obviously dated Palm5 device. The price was in the appropriate range. I needed primarily a replacement Palm--and am not a fan of the current "Smartphone" crop.
The GPS functionality is a bit dated--but still quite useful.
The battery life is very measured.
If you know exactly what you need this is a good purchase.
Good product, but GPS on battery power sucked.......2007-01-07
I bought this product for my fiancee, who is always interested in using Palm OS based PDA. She loved the big bright screen and palm based features. However, there is one problem that she can't get over with - the GPS application. I bought this unit for her, primarily for the integrated GPS application on this palm. One thing worth mentioning before I went further to explain the detail, is that, in the product description, that the unit comes with an auto kit, with cigarette adapter and speaker. It is NOT TRUE. It is MISLEADING information. You need to spend another $60 or so to get the auto kit.
Here is the detail of the problem:
While the unit is on battery power and using GPS, even when the unit is fully charged, it shuts itself off after 1 minute, with no advanced warning at all (the power saving is set at 3 minutes). Only a hard reset will turn it on in this situation, reconnect it to a power source won't make it to come back on.
I bought it during Thanksgiving time last year (2006), it had this problem since day one.
The problem doesn't exist if it is connected to a power source.
Currently I am contacting the seller to get the issue resolved. We've used it for about 1 month and a half. I will keep you posted on the progress.
Just like new!.......2006-11-12
The product was just like the new one I purchased a couple of years ago, only half the price. Great value!
iQue 3600 is the best GPS deal out there!.......2006-05-12
The best deal out there for GPS in my ever-so-humble opinion is a refurbished Garmin iQue 3600. It comes with Maps for the whole USA or Europe depending on the version. It comes with a cradle that sits on your dashboard (a bit tight on my 2006 Vibe, but workable) whose power plug goes into your cigarette lighter socket, and includes a nice and loud speaker. The screen is big enough for my uses.
Plus, it is a Palm unit, so you can bring it with you for other uses, and use the built-in address book to store your destinations and waypoints. And for anything else you may want. Plus there are a lot of add-on programs to add functionality out there, most for free. You can even get a program that overlays satellite maps on the screen, so you can see the pointer showing exactly where you are on the terrain.
It is compatible with both Mac and PCs for syncing (though for initial setup and loading of maps, you DO need a PC or VirtualPC on your Mac).
The only downside is the battery is weak, so you probably won't want to use it for hiking, unless you have an external battery pack.
I can't recommend this GPS highly enough. We brought it to California and Minnesota (I like in CT) for weddings this year, and we were the only guests who never got lost driving between the various sites
