I bought this primarly because I drive a motorcoach and must change buses and move my radios often. So far I love this product, I use it for a small CB radio and it works great. I do not however let it support the total weight of the radio which is 3 lbs.(it's rated capacity) so I rest the bottom of the radio on the dash ect.and it holds it right there with no movement or vibration.It feels like it could hold the radio without support of the dash however. Now it takes longer to hook up the power and antenna than to mount the radio.I have had it in my buses now for about a month and it has never came off the glass or vibrated loose at all. I would highly recommend it. Thanks Panavise for a great product.

this gets a 1 star because i can't give it no stars. it doesn't hold. it worked fine for the first month, but now i can drive about 10 miles before it falls off. i live in california, so no extremes of temperature. i drive on paved roads, but there's not even any potholes to blame. i use the black disc that it came with, but that hasn't held a bit. the suction mount randomly lets go and then everything just falls. the nuvi detaches from the suction mount, and the two pieces fall randomly in my car. i am still trying to use it but don't think i will try much longer. it's actually dangerous, bc sometimes it falls on the driver side and now i think about it it could actually easily fall under the brake or gas pedal...

For all of you out there sticking this suction cup directly on to your windshields... Did you notice the black disc with the red adhesive? THAT'S what's supposed to go onto the windshield. Then the suction cup goes on to THAT. Result: NO problems, even in the hottest weather.

If your gps came with a suction cup that failed you should call the tech support number to have it replaced.
I read several reviews of this product and so I knew there was an issue with them not holding up very well. I stuck mine to the windshield just under the review mirror, so I don't obstruct my view. It held fantastic from march to October. One sad day as I was driving along, Nuvi happily guiding me, it spontaneously fell to the floorboard. I'd hoped since I had never removed it, I wouldn't have the same problem, but no such luck.
I called the garmin support line, and they offered to send me a replacement stating they had a problem with the material in the early versions. Seemed easy enough. Two weeks later I was still waiting for for suction cup so I could put Nuvi back under the mirror, instead of in the cupholder. It takes a lot more effort to look down to the cupholder then to look at it mounted under the review mirror. It's always falling over, pressing it's own buttons, and generally mumbling to itself instead of announcing street names and directions clearly.
The new suction cup material is supposed to last a lot longer. I guess we'll see. The concept is great. A lever actuated suction cup, with a hinged arm, and a ball joint on the end that holds the gps. The ball allows you to turn it easily back and forth to make it easy for either the driver or passenger to see it. It has a release button to unlock Nuvi, so you can put it in your glovebox, pocket, or purse, lest you tempt unscrupulous passers by to try out your handy navigation friend. There is a power connector on the back so that you just snap the Nuvi in and its hooked up to power. There is no power cord in this kit, although there is one that includes a spare cord.

I'll echo the other, but add some details. It worked and removed great from the pad mounted to my dash. It would even go on and off a windshield if not left on long. But when mounted to a windshield for a longer time, it ripped apart coming off and now does not work. Like another review, my radar detector has "cheap" little suction cups with no problems.
I work in industry where nitrile rubber, viton, and other materials are chosen on their ability to withstand heat and UV rays. Either Garmin selected this material in total ignorance (not good) or with full knowledge it would fail this way (worse yet).

Garmin suction cup mount.......2007-10-01
I purchased the Suction Cup Mount for the Nuvi 660. It was exactly what I expected. I had one with my original purchase but in the vehicle to vehicle transfer it was misplaced. I love my Nuvi, but I dislike the fact that the screen carrying case does not have a pouch for the Suction Cup and mount. I also think the arm "pops out" to easily even when adjusting angles on the window and then is hard to re attach while it is on the window.
I received the Dashboard "bean Bag system as a gift and almost always use that now.
Better than the adapter that came with the Garmin unit.......2007-10-01
We lost the Garmin suction mount, and since you need it to attach the car charger to the unit, we couldn't do without it. The original unit has the suction cup part permanently attached to the charger adapter. With this new adapter, the suction cup part detaches from the adapter-plug part, making it easier to use in the car (we let the unit hang onto the dashboard ... the window mount makes the garmin difficult to use). I am very happy with this adapter.
Nuvi 660 Suction Mount.......2007-09-14
This dash mount product design is not terribly robust. Mine broke within the first 3 months of use. Gramin replaced that at no charge under warranty. The new one has yet to arrive. In reviewing the design, the plastic tabs that clamp unto the knob are not very thick so I am anticipating that I will have to order several more over the life of the product and once the initial warranty expires. I remove my unit nightly and I am on the road 100+ nites per year. Love the GPS though.

I got this as a replacement. The one that came with my Garmin broke after 2 monthes (Note: Garmin also sent a free replacement, but I was not sure it would come in time for our vacation so I ordered one as well - FYI Garmin knowing that I needed it fast was great and overnighted my replacement!!! WOOT!)
Also we have had the new one for 3+ monthes and it is still ok.
Nuvi 660 suction cup mount.......2007-07-23
This is an exact replacement of original. I do not recommend taking on and off the part that fit into the ball of the suction cup. It will break and you will have to get one of these. Just remove the Nuvi and then remove the whole suction cup mount combination.

An external antenna for a GPS is generally not needed unless (1) You have coated windshield tinting - these have metal particles that can obstruct satellite reception. (2) You are constantly in an area surrounded by skyscrapers - these can interfere with satellite reception also. If you are not affected by these two conditions, then you DO NOT need an external antenna... using an external antenna will NOT improve your satellite reception... you ONLY need this if you are having reception problems. If you are not having reception problems, you are wasting your money... it is an external antenna, and NOT a signal amplifier... if you are not having reception problems, you will NOT get any better signals using an external antenna.
The Gilsson provides same performance for way less money.......2007-08-03
The Garmin GA27C external GPS antenna works great! But the "Gilsson High Performance active remote external" antenna provides the same performance for $20 compared to $100. Avoid the Garmin 25MCX. It's performance is pathetic. I've written detailed reviews on Amazon of the 25MCX and the Gilsson. But the bottom line is: Get the Gilsson.
REMOTE ANTENNA.......2007-07-22
My Garmin Nuvi 350 appears to work fine without the remote and we pick up the sat signals with just the built-in antenna. But we'll use it to keep the Nuvi out of the direct sunlight on the dash, and it allows my wife to have the Nuvi in her lap for easier programming and reading. If it's not there we just place it in the console and go by voice driving instructions. Works great and we don't need to rely on the windshield suction cup holders for the Nuvi.
Antenna Not Sensitive Enough.......2007-06-09
This antenna ought to work through the windscreen; it does not. It works patchily when I place it directly under the moonroof on the sliding shade. It works perfectly only when I place it completely outside the vehicle. The windscreen mount was therefore a waste of time and money - I should have taken the advice I got from no less than a Garmin salesperson to purchase the cheaper antenna for $31.00. Whether this is all the fault of the antenna or that there is some peculiar unique "firewall" in my 2007 Toyota Camry windscreen (or the electroluminiscent rearview mirror) - I do not know, but it seems to me that paying big money for an item without caveat or exclusions for certian vehicles should secure just what the item promises: that it would work through the windscreen with or without a mount.
