Gift.......2007-12-31
I purchased this item as a Christmas gift for my husband. We recently moved to a new state and my husband was getting a little turned around. He loves the Magellan Maestro. He told me that it was easy to install and easy to use. He also told me that he would never be lost again.
Road trip down Route 66.......2007-12-31
My daughter received this for Christmas. She moved from Chicago to Las Vegas. This product guided us all the way. Was a blesing, great thing to have when moving to another area.
Exceeds expectations.......2007-12-30
First of all, map and firmware updates ARE available via the Magellan website - other reviewers have gotten this wrong. The 3100 is ready to go right out of the box, has a sensitive receiver, and ALL of its menus and features are intuitive. The display and maps are simple, yet clear, easy to work with quickly, and purposeful. There is no mess and using the unit doesn't require much toil and handling. Reroutes are fast, and instructions and tones are kept to a peaceful minimum.
One negative is that the unit comes with a car charger only, and does not charge via the USB port.
Great for the price.......2007-12-30
My wife caught this for a very good price. Even at the price tage of 150 bucks you can't go wrong. Download the update as soon as you get it and your set. I saw some people say it was short on the POI's and the update takes forever. It took less than an hour to get it from computer to gps. The added POI's and added items are fantastic. I don't think there is a better bang for the buck than this lil gem.
Just the basics.......2007-12-30
This is my first GPS. It seems to be OK so far, but I need to do the estimated 11 hour update. There are many POI that are not showing (ie gas stations and resturants). The price was great, but I hope I didn't sacrafice information just to save some money.

Great GPS .......2008-01-02
I purchased this item as a christmas gift for my husband who is sooo not techno savy. He took a 2 hour trip with it a couple of days after and absolutely loved it. He had also gotten directions from mapquest and he said he would have gotten lost without the gps. It took him straight to where he needed to go. I'm so glad I researched this product and everyone's review was very helpful in making my decision to purchase this garmin gps.
Great basic GPS with text-to-speech.......2007-12-31
This GPS might not have all those fancy features like mp3 and traffic update of the high end models, but it does very well the basic functions of a GPS, with what I consider as the essential Text-To-Speech function.
I've had this unit for about a month and a half now, and here are some pros and cons I've discovered:
Pros:
Excellent route mapping. Nearly always plots the route I'd plot myself.
Clear warnings well ahead of time (I think it adjusts when it gives the warning depending on your speed).
Also tells me to which side the next next turn will be on right before I make my next (upcoming) turn, so I know which side of the road to keep onto (good for traffic heavy roads).
Recalculations are fast: Driving downtown with those really short distances between intersections, this GPS manages to recalculate a new route if I missed a turn.
Bright screen, good, large graphics, nice day-time contrast, auto color switch for night time driving, intuitive interface for setting ur destinations
Cons:
Slow boot up, satellite acquisition can take a while in places with lots of tall buildings (up to 5-8min!) when boot up for first time (fast acquisition after that)
Alphabetically listed keyboard, no way to switch!!(bad for geeks like me)
POI search a bit slow if u're searching by spelling (search by pre-defined categories are fairly fast)
If you've set in a security code, u have to reboot the GPS if u misentered it (or go to your preset security location)
Overall, this GPS is great, performs all the functions of a GPS to near-perfection. So if you're just looking for a hassle free GPS that you can rely on to guide you everywhere you go, this is the unit for you.
A map problem eroded my trust in it........2007-12-31
I've had my Nuvi 260 for a month now. The unit is small, good-looking, very easy to set up, came with the latest version of their maps but... if I followed its direction I'd never get out of my neighborhood.
Driving from my home on GA SRXX I need to turn right on Hwy YYY. My nuvi260 tells me to first turn left on ZZZ Rd. about 200 ft from the Hwy, and then make a right U-turn on HwyYYY. The problem is that ZZZ Rd. DEAD ENDS in bushes and there is no way to get to the Hwy from there. This problem makes me wonder where else my nuvi will send me to when I'm in a location I do not know.
Garmin's customer support was very apologetic about this snafu and directed me to the web site where you can report such map deficiencies. But that was it, no patches offered. I guess I'll have to wait until they have a new version released and pay another $70 to get it.
Aside from this one dead-end trap (that I've discovered), my nuvi260 has been giving me generally good directions in my everyday driving within ~100 miles from my home. I'm yet to test it on an out-of state trip.
Overall, I like having a "live" map in front of me with my location clearly marked, particularly when driving at night in a city. The voice prompts about upcoming turns, often with "funny" pronunciations of street names, are very useful in locations you do not know, and they can be muted if you find them distracting. The display of the distance to the next turn is particularly useful for me and saved me several times already from making turns too soon. For the price Nuvis can now be purchased for(~$260), it is a good driving aid to have in your car. But do not trust it completely...!!
Garmin Nuvi 260.......2007-12-30
So far we have used this product three times - it is very easy to program, visuals are clear and voice prompts very helpful - as with all GPS systems, you should check a map as it has sent us a long way to a destination, when we knew a shorter route. We also purchased the friction mount for the Nuvi 260 and found it very useful.
A must have for home health.......2007-12-30
I have really put my Garmin Nuvi 260 to the test and am very pleased.
I work in home health in a fairly rural area and search for several locations every day. So far I've been able to locate every address in the GPS, but sometimes it has taken a bit of trial and error. For instance, the location city in the GPS is not always the same as the postal address. You can enter 'search all cities' but I usually start with the closest small town and find it pretty quicklly. If the search gives me more than one similar address, I check out the map to see which one sounds similar to the clues my patient has given me. When entering an address on a hwy, you just enter the number of the hwy. With streets with multiple names, you enter the first name (except North etc) then it gives you a list of roads to choose from.
I have programed it for the fastest route and, with the exception of a bridge being out, have agreed with the route it has taken me.
I disable the Avoidances for dirt roads when using the GPS for work and enable the Avoidances for U-turns when using it in our truck when pulling the horse trailer.
Twice, when leaving a driveway or parking lot, the voice has prompted me to turn right when the screen showed the arrow correctly turning to the left. Once, the destination was some 200 yards beyond where the GPS said it would be. Other than that, I've had no problems.
I have not lost my satelite link for more than a second, even during a nasty thunderstorm.
I set the unit in map mode when not using the location finder so that I can see the names of approaching roads, especially at night.
I chose this particular unit because Garmin gets such good reviews, and because of the text-to-speech feature. I no longer have to fumble for directions in my laptop that may not be correct. I get to my destinations a lot faster and I'm a whole lot less frustrated when I arrive. It's a great investment.

Customer Reviews:
Great item and price!.......2007-12-31
Great beginner's GPS. I have a high end Garmin and needed another one for my second car. Rather than getting another high end one, I decided on the Mio b/c of features and price.
Good product, have had no problems and it's pretty accurate. I'd recommend it for the low hundred dollar range. Amazon's price was the best that I had found at the time.
Thanks and happy new year!
Not bad.......2007-12-31
Got this as a gift. Works very well. Only problem I have found is that it can take several minutes to acquire the GPS sats. Beyond that, the interface is easy to use, the maps are stored on a removable card, so if you need to update you dont have to worry about attaching the device to your PC and installing drivers. Very useful device!
Mio C220 GPS.......2007-12-31
This product is everything the ad says it is and more. For the money you can not beat it anywhere.
Great and accurate GPS navigation system for the price.......2007-12-28
I have owned Mio C220 for more than a month. I have no major complains on this device so far. It is very easy to use and the route calculation was faster than Garmin or TomTom according to my observations. The C220 was able to recalculate the route when you miss the original planned route, this feature is a major plus point. The LCD touch screen is fast and responsive and I like the QWERTY keyboard format to input address while the Garmin has ABCD telephone format which is difficult to input. You can drag or move the 2D map using your fingers easiely. The device is light weight and it can fit in most of the pockets. The LCD screen bright enough for mounting on the windscreen/dashboard for navigation. I found the navigation was very accurate and dead on. It comes with a car charger but no home or wall charger. I have been using my Motorola RAZR wall charger to charge my C220 at home and it works. My only complain is that not too many accessories are available for C220 and lack of full support to its update software for Macs. Otherwise C220 scores much higher than TomTom.
It knows the roads the locals know..........2007-12-28
We bought the system in Summer, had it for 6 months now and used it everywhere. We used it to find train stations in NJ, Used it to find points of interest in New York City (pedestrian mode), We gave it to guests to find their hotel (beats giving directions), used it all over Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, system is solid, maps are accurate. It reroutes quickly if you miss a turn/detour. If you have a RAZR or blackberry or any other USB powered device you can charge the MIO with the same charger. Best of all its cheap! Downfalls: volume could be louder, it doesn't say street name when turning, but does show it on the screen.

Customer Reviews:
IMHO Better than Garmin Nuvi 350!.......2007-12-30
Ok, since there's already so many reviews I doubt mine will get read, however I just wanted to add a few points for those considering this and the Garmin Nuvi 350.
My experience with navigation units includes OEM GUI based navs in Lexus, BMW & Mercedes, the text-based Becker Traffic Pro (used in Porsche's, BMW's, Ferrari, etc.) and now the TomTom One and Garmin Nuvi 350.
I purchased two TomTom's as gifts because of the Best Buy rating by Consumer Reports. I really wanted to get the Garmin Nuvi 350 based on advice from a friend who has done a lot of research and said it was the best for the money, but that would be too expensive.
Let me tell you, after driving using both units I prefer the One to the Nuvi 350. The Nuvi has more features, great battery life, better voice directions and faster calculation, but the One is clearer/easier to drive to, updates faster in tight areas where there are many turns and can be found for less than half the price.
The Nuvi 350 has some nice features; it can play MP3's, it has a long battery life without being plugged in, thus can be used for walking directions, slightly easier to use interface, blue tooth interface for phone and auto dimming. Maybe others... however, most of those features aren't needed in a navigation unit--better save the money and put it towards an unlocked iPhone instead :)). It all boils down to which unit is easier to drive to.
When you're in a big city with one turn after another, when you approach an "X" or "Y" intersection instead of "+", when the highways split funny, etc. in those cases I prefer the One. I don't recall once making a wrong turn with the One, however when my friend and I went to New York City (following Nuvi 350 directions), he made 3-wrong turns (didn't get on the correct highway) and lost 15-minutes, according to calculations, before he let me drive his car to actually get us to where we were going. Driving to his Nuvi 350 was a chore compared to the One. I almost took a few wrong turns myself... constantly had to read what's coming up next on the screen (it's TINY); It's dangerous and I'm sure the people driving behind us weren't very happy with the way we were driving.
Sorry for the run-ons, but if anyone is considering the Garmin Nuvi 350 over the TomTom One, I seriously hope that you try both before making your decision. I feel that the One is much easier to drive to, which to me is the point of having a GPS navigation unit. TomTom One certainly has some drawbacks to the 350, however given that the One can be found for hundreds cheaper, it's definitely the best buy. Two other friends have also purchased TomTom One's since.
First time GPS-er.......2007-12-29
My wife has always had difficulty with knowing which way she's facing when coming out of a store or office. No, its not a 'girl' vs 'guy' thing...she just has trouble orienting herself. When she saw a friend with a TOM-TOM One she thought it was the greatest thing going. And when she's driving she has the same orientation difficulties. She received her Tom-Tom for Xmas and used it successfully within 2 days. It was easy to set up, easy and fun to use. And now she won't let me play with it. 'Nuff said?
Couldn't live without it, now........2007-12-29
I gave this to my husband for a birthday present this past summer. I can't imagine how we ever traveled without it. I'm a avid map reader and excellent navigator, so I never saw the need for a GPS. I'm sold! We love to try out new routes around the busy traffic in Atlanta. I love being able to have an ETA. It's a fabulous product and a great price. My husband downloaded John Cleese's voice for the TomTom. It's so much more fun to hear him give directions than the factory voice.
Perfect!.......2007-12-29
This was a gift for my husband....
He has used it for many trips...and has been more than pleased with the results. For the price---I couldn't be happier!
TomTom Great.......2007-12-27
Was very happy with the process of purchasing this item and the speedy delivery with which it was delivered. The navigation system itself is amazingly easy to use and transport. Love it!

Customer Reviews:
Great GPS - Exceeded expectations.......2007-10-21
After reading mixed reviews I decided to give this unit a try. Coming from a Lowrance Iway 500c, I was looking for the newer sirfstar III receiver as well as faster routing and quicker satellite acquisition. The LG excelled at all three.
- Great satellite acquisition times, about 5 min for the first cold start and then almost instantaneous for subsequent reconnections. The unit has a sleep feature which seems to keeps the unit on similar to that of a laptop without having to reload maps, the OS, etc.
- Quick routing takes under 5 seconds for the initial destination. If you miss a turn, the unit reroute quick enough to make the next turn. Likewise, the logic of the system is pretty good, which will take to on a different route if optimal rather than trying to get you to U-turn back.
- Very accurate location plotting compared to my old GPS. I was impressed by the system mapping me on which lane direction i was traveling (North vs South, etc) and the maps included even the small police-only paths located in the medians.
- The display and speaker both seemed lacking at first in terms of brightness and sound quality, but upon actually use on a 2 day trip in the NY/NJ/PA area and over 300 miles of driving I found that everything worked well. The screen once located about 2-3 feet away on the windshield looks more than acceptable and the speaker works great once you get used to what it sounds like and to somewhat listen for it if you are blasting your music. The layout is simple yet effective, showing your distance to next turn, and the unit doesnt annoying repeat commands from too far away (go straight for 10 miles, 5 miles, then 2 miles etc).
For the price and the features you cant go wrong. No GPS is perfect -- the garmins Nuvi's dont have multistop routing and the TomTom One still uses Teleatlas maps. Both are more expensive and dont include text-to-speech which makes it a difficult comparison. Going to their next series with advanced features adds on another $200-300 or nearly double the cost. Give the LG a chance and I think you will be pleasantly surprised.
Good and bad.......2007-05-23
I bought this unit when it first came out, because it has the TMC (FM traffic update) built in and a 4-inch screen for much less than the Garmin. Before this I bought the TOMTOM One.
Overall, this unit has been good. It does what the box says it does... But here are my improvements...
1. The map is still 2006 even though it was released in 2007. (the TOMTOM had a newer map)
2. Points of Interest (POI) - lets you find spots by category, either near destination or current location. An option for along the route would be good. Also...sometimes it is hard to figure what category something is in. there is no general search by company name. (It does however have a nice feature that I can click on say Starbucks, and it shows all the Starbucks as I drive by them - kind of nice)
3. When in the menus, you have to keep backing out to get back to the map (sometimes several clicks while driving). It would be nice to have one button to go back to the map.
4. When it calculates routes... I am not sure the logic takes into account turns. It often has me making more lefts and rights than is needed.
5. Traffic updates... it automatically recalculates routes to advoid traffic, but I get the feeling it does not advoid traffic congestion until it is with 3-5 miles. On long routes where I could take two freeways... one is closed. It has me take the closed on then, I notice it changes the route when I approach the closed part of the freeway, instead of in the beginning.
So... I am not sure how this compares to other units. I only had the TOMTOM for a day, but it needed a wireless internet connection from a PDA or something to get traffic updates. If you have a wireless connection or don't want the traffic feature, I like the TOMTOM better. Otherwise, this is a good unit for the price.

Amazon.com Product Description, December 12, 2007
High-end audio equipment manufacturer Harman Kardon's continues to combine solid navigation with truly superb media player function in its GPS products, creating a bar for navigator/personal entertainment system convergence devices. They've improved their models this year with a fuller feature set.
This Year's Models
With their first line of GPS navigators released last year, H-K wisely stuck to the basics with their navigation. Perhaps that was the reason navigation worked so much better on Harman Kardon's devices than on some other navigators produced by manufactuer's whose core business was not GPS.
With basic nav nailed down however, Harman Kardon added a full feature set into this year's models. All of the new models -- the GPS-310, GPS-510, and GPS-810, -- come with text-to-speech for spoken directions with real street names, a photo viewer and MP3 player. The GPS-510 adds a video player and traffic data capability (from TMC Clear Channel). The GPS-810 has the same features you'd get on the top-end model from any manufacturer, and some you may not expect, including Bluetooth connectivity, traffic data, an FM transmitter that will deliver both directions and music through an open channel on your car's stereo system, and a nifty little Bluetooth remote.
4-inch WQVGA 480px x 272px high-resolution widescreen touch screen (actual size) |
Navigation
The main purpose of any car GPS device is to take you reliably from point A to B. Here the GPS-310 performs nicely indeed, providing several options for finding your destination. To get going you can select either a street address, a specific point of interest such as a gas station or restaurant, a recent or saved destination, a postal code, or an intersection (if you're not sure of the exact address). To speed up text entry, the unit employs an intelligent auto-completion feature that displays only the letters that spell an item in its database. This greatly reduces the letters from which you have to choose to tell it where you want to go.
Once it knows where you are headed, the device offers you the choice of shortest distance or most use of freeways or other high-speed arterials. You'll also find a trip planner that lets you lay out and save multiple destinations, as well as avoidance choices for routing your trip away from borders, toll roads, unpaved roads, ferries, and more. If you take a wrong turn or need to use a detour, the GPS-310 will automatically re-route you and get you back on your way.
And how did the GPS-310 perform out on the road? In a word, admirably. The responsiveness of the device and excellent user interface make it a joy to use. The GPS-310 also has an extremely fast and accurate GPS signal processor, so it locks, calculates and recalculates routes, and responds to commands quickly. One of the hardest things for a manufacturer without a long history in building GPS navigators is getting the routing algorithms correct, so it was nice to see that Harman Kardon seems to have gotten this right. In most cases, the device decided on logical and efficient routes, too--something that can't be said of all GPS devices out there.

Intuitive interface is easy to operate.

Setup and Interface
Setup is as easy as turning the device on, since it comes loaded with maps of the U.S. and Canada. On first bootup, choose from English, Spanish, or French language options for the spoken directions and interface menus.
Interacting with the GPS-310's touchscreen is delightfully intuitive and reliable; there's really no need for a stylus or navigation buttons, which simplifies things on the road. The division of the main interface into four main quadrants is a helpful touch, and it's refreshing to see manufacturers moving away from awkward icon-based menus. Instead of drilling down through lists of icons, all of the GPS-310's options are presented on simple, color-coded shapes. That said, we were a little puzzled by the use of the "Source" menu key, which takes the user back to the main menu from any point in the interface. It's a useful feature, but why not call this the "Home" button instead?
The screen itself is sharp and clear, offering great resolution and clarity in all driving conditions. The map screen is a sight to behold, offering delightfully crisp 3D images, as well as excellent responsiveness when zoomed and panned. Likewise, the interface for music playback ispleasantly uncluttered, responsive, and well thought-out. One problem in our unit, though, was the lack of a sleep mode. The device's screen will stay on at full illumination when it's left idle--even when running on battery power. There's also no sleep button on the device. |
Accurate, detailed 3D navigation, and turn-by-turn directions. |
Use the unit's touch screen to enter address locations. |
An intuitive menu lets you switch quickly between music, video, and navigation options. | |
Multimedia
The GPS-310 strives to be much more than just another GPS device in a crowded market, and that's likely why Harman Kardon has polished the multimedia features of the device so well. With support for MP3 and WMA music files, the music player has a refreshingly intuitive user interface and good sound quality. It's a cinch to browse music on your SD card by artist, album, genre, playlist, and song. Another nice touch is that you can keep the music playing while the unit is in navigation mode.
Design
The GPS-310 is solidly built--something we expect from Harman Kardon--and it instills a sense of confidence that it can survive the bumps of bruises that come with the mobile lifestyle. Measuring approximately 4.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches high, and a little over half an inch thick, the device is only a little chunkier than your average PDA or Smartphone. The clean lines of the GPS-310 are enhanced by a complete lack of buttons; all interaction with the device happens between the touchscreen and your finger. In the interest of simplicity, there is not even a stylus that can fall to the floor and roll under the seat of your car.
The only button you'll find on the device is the recessed power button on the top, right next to the SD card slot. The slot accepts cards with up to 4 GB of capacity. There's also a small jog wheel on the right side for volume and display brightness control. Below this dial you'll also find a mini-USB port that serves double duty for both charging and PC-to-device data transfers, as well as a standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. Meanwhile, you'll find a pinhole reset button on the bottom, as well as a hold switch on the left side for deactivating the touchscreen. Lastly, the back of the unit sports a small audio speaker and a port for an optional GPS signal booster antenna.
Pros
Excellent user interface
Fast, accurate GPS performance; good mapping capabilities
Polished, user-friendly music playback
Cons
Minor lag during some operations
No sleep or low power standby function

Customer Reviews:
4.3" widescreen display w/TTS for $300.......2007-12-20
Pros:
. 4.3" (480x272) screen with text-to-speech for $300.
. Integrated antenna
. Clean, uncluttered, and mostly intuitive interface
. Destinations easy to enter - more on this feature below
. Large "buttons"
. Touch screen requires only a light touch
. Nicely contoured case with a high quality feel
. Suction cup mount nicely designed
. Unit clips in and removes from the mount very easily
. Charges via the USB cable (undocumented)
. Boots instantly
. Volume dial
. Bright screen
. Built-in MP3 player
. A nice compact slipcover is included
Cons:
. It takes awhile to lock on to the satellites. I haven't timed it, but it's much slower than my Garmin Street Pilot 2720.
. I haven't figured out how to save the "current location" to a favorite. Please tell me how to do this as this could be a deal breaker!
. Screen brightness doesn't automatically adjust to the conditions. It switches between Day and Night modes automatically, but not the brightness. Fortunately changing the brightness requires only a few touches.
. Screen can be hard to read in bright daylight.
. Only one choice of female voice. I like the Australian English voice on my Garmin.
. The spoken directions are not as concise as my Garmin, and the unit tends to repeat itself, which is either helpful or annoying depending on my mood.
. No option to prompt the unit to repeat itself, such as if you don't hear the directions over a loud stereo. In fairness, I don't know of any portable GPS units that offer this feature.
. The map is missing some streets vs. my Garmin
. A few options are non-intuitive to reach. This isn't a major problem since there aren't that many options vs. some of the more high-end GPS units, but that makes these few occasions all the more vexing.
. Does not display speed. I like this feature of my Garmin. There also is no "trip computer" although I don't use this feature much.
Top three features:
1. Large high resolution wide screen.
2. Text-to-Speech.
3. Destination entry feature:
As you enter letters in a city or street name, any letters that aren't possible are grayed out. For example, maybe you enter a city name beginning with H. You might then see all letters except A,E,I,O,U,Y grayed out because there are no cities with any other character following the H. This makes entry easier because (A) the next key is easier to find because there are fewer letters to choose from, and (B) touching the wrong key is less likely.
If I were buying a new GPS for myself, it would probably be a Garmin 750 for half again the price, but at the $300 price-point, the mostly minor compromises are acceptable.
Good unit but not perfect.......2007-12-06
I wanted a portable GPS unit with at least 4" display and text-to-speech feature. This is my first GPS. I would say the text-to-speech feature is a MUST; otherwise, you may get confused.
A 4" Garmin was too expensive and it didn't look very attractive.
I like Navigon because it made GPS for European cars, it had photo images of the streets, and it looked really good but I need to get the expensive high-end model for the 4" display (the free lifetime traffic info was very attractive too). However, it didn't have any audio and/or video features and several reviews indicated problems with navigation and the text-to-speech.
I could pick TomTom but I liked HK. I picked it has mp3 feature. I wanted the GPS 510 video one but that costed more than I expected. Anyway, I guess I expected too much from HK.
As a basic GPS unit, it's great, especially with the large screen and text-to-speech feature. The display will adjust day/night automatically.
Pro:
1. 4" display, looks beautiful, solid built.
2. It's very easy to use.
3. Speech is clear.
4. Re-routing is very quick (usually takes 5-6 seconds).
5. You can do navigation and listen to music at the same time.
6. It's not too difficult to learn all the features.
7. Long battery life (I think it's 5 hours).
Con:
1. The initial search for GPS signal is very slow, up to several minutes.
2. I turned on all the POI but I don't see them all the time. Most of the time, the unit will tell me turn on which street and then tell me to turn right or left to a ramp but sometimes it tells me to turn left/right after 200 ft. If I set my routing priority to shortest time instead of shortest distance, it will try to get me on the highway even though it is a much longer route.
3. I don't know how to get the most updated map...I am sure it does not
have some of the 2007 constructions.
4. As someone commented on the older model, GPS-300, the speaker was not good for music. I used the unit to play mp3 songs on a SD card (not included) and it didn't sound good. Yes, it's a HK! It may be good for radio programs or sermons.
5. The "quick user guide" and the owner's manual on the HK website are the same. They are way too simple. You need to explore the unit for different features. The guide scared me. I thought I need to charge the unit in my car all the time but someone mentioned you can use the USB cable to charge it from a PC. Yes, I tried it but it didn't tell me when it was fully charged.
I bought the dash mount unit but this GPS unit cannot be sticked to it tight. The unit will move a little bit at a time but it will not fall out from the dash mount.
I am still ok with the unit but I didn't focus too much on the mp3 feature and tried TomTom.
Easy to use. Great value........2007-12-02
The unit gets amazingly quick GPS locks. Typically less than 15 seconds, and often just a few. The UI is extermely easy to use. Very snappy graphics and operation. No owner's manual is necessary. Has all the features you would expect from a unit this price. Even has 12M POI which is 2x to 9x the number that other units have. I played with the unit a little at BestBuy before buying it. What sold me is the TTS feature that announces street names in the directions (Turn on Lincoln Ave instead of just Turn Left). It was the cheapest one there that had this feature. When I compared the TTS quality with that of the more expensive units, the h/k GPS-310 won hands down. The others sounded like robots. This unit sounds much more natural. Easy decision. Great product. Fantastic price.
A CLEAN unit, very nice........2007-11-30
I have used both the Tom Tom and the garman Nuvi and I find the GPS-310 to be superior in many ways.
The onscreen display is very intuitive and I really like the widescreen look on such an inexpensive unit. My wife loved it and it has the look and feel of a much more expensive unit. The trip information is shown on the left and is very clear about upcoming turns, distances and the like.
The windshield mount is especially nice and allows a great degree of adjustment and is much smaller and cleaner than my others I have. I don't like such a big block of stuff stuck to my windshield. The unit itself is very thin and just has a very clean look to the whole unit. It is much easier to use that the TomTom as well with fewer menus needed to be accessed to do all of the basic stuff.
The music player works well with artist search, playlists, etc. I synch a few SD cards with my PC and I use it on trips, very slick

GPS NAV ONE 5000 5" TOUCHSCREEN
Customer Reviews:
Great Nav System.......2007-12-23
For the price this is probably the best nav system you can get. The only hitch is it does have a fatal error screen every now and then but you just turn it off and back on and it is ok.
Cobra GPS NavOne 5000.......2007-11-28
THE GOOD:
The unit's 5" screen is incredibly clear; spoken street names are loud and clear; menu is so easy to understand the unit could be figured out just by navigating through screens. The "Go Home" button is great. If you're lost ... click "Go Home" and the unit directs you to any location set as "Home". Lots of great features, millions of points of interest; the Real-Time Traffic Information can be accessed with separate purchase of a Traffic Data Receiver. I'm not disappointed that I did not have to pay for something I did not need/want right now.
The unit should be fantastic once the software bugs are worked out. Cobra has been extremely responsive to questions/issues
