Great camera.......2007-12-30
I love this camera. All the different functions are great, as long as you have a few seconds to flip through to the different functions. If not, I would suggest only to use the anti-shake feature. I missed some precious pictures of my nieces and nephews meeting for the first time because I wasn't able to flip through all the different scene functions in time. Make sure to have an extra lion battery also otherwise you'll end up having to wait for it to be recharged before taking more pictures. I have to charge mine every night. Also the multiple pictures feature is great! It takes many pictures rapidly as long as you hold down the button, but every few pictures turn out blurry. I would suggest using the one speed slower if you use this function. Other than these few difficulties, this is a great camera. I haven't been abe to use the underwater function yet, but I'm looking forward to it!
Christmas gift.......2007-12-29
Its everything it claims to be. Very happy with selection and most of all price. Best deal out there and I shopped around.
Good Stylish Digital Camera.......2007-12-29
Okay, I love the orange color of my camera and it looks highly stylish. The camera is really small so it fits easily into my pocket so I can carry it around everywhere. The fact that the camera is waterproof and shock proof is amazing and most unique. I used the camera in the hot tub and snow skiing and didn't even worry about the camera getting wet or broken. As for the photos, they are crisp and the color and quality seem more than good enough for most uses. Also, the setting and options on the camera are very diverse and allow for almost any photographic situation you will encounter. Excellent and very cool camera!
amazing camera.......2007-12-28
A great xmas gift that brought a lot of happiness! I was debating between this camera and the pentax and am so glad that I went with olympus it is user friendly, takes amazing pictures and is compatable with all of our electronic gear.
Better than I expected.......2007-12-25
This is my third camera in 6 months; I tried Lumix and Canon before. Either the quality was not acceptable (Lumix) or the camera drowned by accident in a drink (Canon) - the Stylus 790 has so far exceeded my expectations with great picture quality and the peace of mind it can take a drop or a plunge in the water and keep on ticking. Highly Recommended (so far).

Worth the money..........2007-12-12
I have had the privilege of owning this camera for about six months now. I have taken it to, or in I should say, the American River which is not only water, but very very cold water. The camera worked flawlessly and even filmed video in and out of the water. The camera feels and looks expensive, and is fairly heavy for the size, which I like, some people do not. Here are my pros and cons.
Pros:
Underwater ability, shockproof, crushproof, freeze proof, pretty much anything proof!
Plenty of different modes to shoot images and movies with
Build construction is a definite "10" feels wonderful
Cons:
Image quality is not as good as most comparable 7.1 cameras
Video quality is a little noisy
LED illumination does not work while shooting movies, hard for low light videos
Battery needs to be removed from camera to charge
Everything is metal except the trim around the lens... doesn't make sense
Basically if you are wondering if buying this camera is worth it, its worth every penny in my book.
Product failed us on a once in a lifetime vacation.......2007-12-04
Would not recommend buying this camera! We purchased this camera specifically for a vacation to Hawaii. The third time we used this camera (in only a few feet of water) it leaked. We called Olympus customer service from Hawaii to try to get a camera loan or replacement for the remainder of our trip with no success. In fact, the customer service agent told us they had received many back because of leaks. Now we have a bad camera, memory card, case and skin and nothing but frustration dealing with Olympus. Extremely disappointed in this product and Olympus.
Very convenient camera for traveling to dive/snorkeling destinations.......2007-12-03
I bought this camera out of complete laziness. I didn't want to drag along all of the bulky equipment I usually use to video and photograph underwater on one of our dive excursions. Though only rated to 30 feet, I took this camera on repeated dives to more than double that depth (max was around 80ft) Though it showed no signs of leakage, you'll lose button function below 38 feet (though the shutter release will still work most of the time). It may commence some strange zooming and definite blue tones take over the images at those depths, but I still have some great shots (you can color correct to some extent with Photoshop anyway). Amazingly, though, it's not a good surface camera. There is no viewfinder and you can't see your subjects on the digital screen in daylight. The above-water images often come out blue and I'm not sure why. The videos underwater are pretty decent, but blue (as expected) however the ABOVE-water videos are also blue!!??! For the money and convenience, it was a good camera if only to watch everyone panic when I jumped overboard with it (housing free!) Enjoy it, but don't expect too much of it. I suspect with a little improvement, this might turn out to be a great camera for travelers.
awesome toy.......2007-11-23
GREAT camera! Nice pics, took it to Bali great in the rain and while snorkeling. Very nice underwater shots. Only complaint is the screen is a bit dim in bright sunlight on the beach. Nice record mode although hard to keep stable get a 2gb chip if you are planning video in high quality mode. Highly recommended for water and action enthusiasts.

Amazing camera, .......2007-11-21
My buddies have this same camera, and I wanted one for all my picture taking. It is very simple to use, takes incredible pics, and was very reasonable in price. I especially like the water tight compartments as I snorkel and take pics in the rain all the time. the underwater pics are very good. Just remember to rinse and dry your camera.

3rd camara I have bought. Makes a great gift and personal camera. Out of 4 cameras its been my fav.
A great small digital camera that can DIVE!.......2007-12-24
Great pics, works great with optional underwater housing (good to about 140 feet). Only complaint is LCD washes out in bright sunlight, but a good photographer will still get OK results. Great for trips (small), and I can dive with it, too! Not an SLR, but I don't generally travel with that.
Grainy, noisy images make this cam dissapointing!.......2007-12-13
Aesthetically and ergonomically, this is one sleek, gorgeous design. BUT to make a long story short, MANY of the photos taken with this cam are in fact 'grainy' and 'noisy', and unquestionably lacking sharpness and detail (especially indoor flash shots) for what is supposed to be a 7.1 megapixel image. My wife and I actually compared the 'Olympus 710' pics with our 5 year old 'FujiFilm 2650' 2 megapixel camera's pics, and SHOCKINGLY the old 2 megapixel cam won hands down! Go figure. Even our much less expensive 'Nikon Coolpix L14' that we just bought to replace this camera, has far superior quality images. The interesting thing is that I read several posts and/or threads here on 'Amazon' and on the net that allude to the blurry pics that the 710 often displays. Perhaps there was a quality control issue on some of these cams? If anyone else has experienced dissapointing quality images with this cam, please comment below and share your story. Thanks.
The LCD screen breaks easily & not worth the cost to fix.......2007-12-13
Same as others with the breaking LCD screen what a bummer they should do some sort of testing with pressure placed on the screen and have to meet a minimum force to break. I like the camera other than that. Slim and long lasting battery user friendly It would have cost $130 to send back and replace the screen I can get a new one on e bay for that so I won't buy Olympus cameras any more. I am going to try Sony now.
Olympus camera.......2007-11-26
this is a nice compact camera that connects directly to your computer via a usb cable and no additional software needed. consider purchasing a sd card for additonal memory

Customer Reviews:
Epson admitted it was defective, offers refurbished replacement! .......2007-12-28
This printer malfunctioned from the moment I turned it on-- I couldn't go past step 3 of the set-up. I called Epson who confirmed it was a hardware malfunction (which they blamed on delivery-- although the box was in pristine condition). SO, they offered to send a replacement out immediately, but having read other reviews I knew to ask if it would be a new printer and I was told "We can't guarentee you won't received a refurbished printer." WHAT?! I bought a BRAND NEW printer that you admitted was defective and I get a used replacement!?! WARNING: If you want to risk not getting a lemon, I suggest you buy it from Amazon where you can actually return it. If you buy it from Epson, they will not return it but replace it with a used one! If you buy it from an electronics store (like Circuit City) they will return it but charge a 15% re-stocking fee. BEWARE of Epson... when they work, they are great, but when they don't, you're out-of-luck.
Piece of Cake.......2007-12-20
Super easy to set up, even for an intermediate user like myself. Setup took 15 minutes, including setting up profiles for the paper. Very fine smooth tones, perfectly saturated but not overly so.
SUPER!.......2007-12-18
A super printer which works well for printing promotional pieces and portfolio pages. I would recommend this printer for the serious amatuer photographer.
Large format Printer.......2007-12-17
This Epson Stylus Photo R1800 printer prints fast and very good. It was expensive but you can install a "continuous ink system" on it. All togather this cost me less than $500 and now I can print 13 X 19 photos and never have to replace those 8 ink cartridges.
Great printer for larger format printing.......2007-11-21
Pro's:
1. Absolutely breathtaking quality. I have printed on Ilford high quality glossy photo paper as well as Epson Velvet Fine Art and High Gloss photo papers. All were 13 X 19. All images were absolutely fabulous with a remarkable dynamic range.
2. Easy setup and install.
3. Straight forward installation of printer/paper profiles.
Con's:
1. A bit tricky at times with large paper feed from the back.
2. It's not pigment ink (but only higher-end printers are)
3. A bit expensive to replace the ink, but given the lower price than similar Canon or HP printers of this quality, it would take a lot of prints to make up any cost difference.
The bottom line is that I would absolutely buy this printer again because of the quality. The "Con's" mentioned above do not detract from my enjoyment of this printer.
I had looked at comparable HP and Canon printers. I also must confess that I have owned Espon printers before and never been disappointed. I cannot tell you that it is better than other printers of similar quality. I just can't tell a difference enough to switch from a good thing.
