Perfect for Color LaserPrints at Home.......2007-12-23
I am writing this review, while the HP 1600 is running the second side of our annual holiday letter - in full color of a photo of hummingbirds while peach-picking at Masumoto's Family Farm in California.
The HP prints fast, crisp (offers a draft 600dpi or a full-on 2400dpi) and reliably. No jams and no blurring. This rivals the office laser printers at work, but unfortunately doesn't automatically do double-sided.
Yes, the ink refills are expensive, but it's a color laser printer! I haven't yet had to replace them a second time, so can't judge if the full cartridges are efficient or not.
However, I would like to recommend to HP and all other printer companies, please include FULL cartridges with all your printers. We are springing for the full package here, so let us print away on full (I also hate it when car companies don't give you a full tank to start either).

I bought this printer only for the ink cartridges for my 2600n. I can sell the actual printer or throw it away. The ink is more expensive than this printer new.!!
Cannot share printer on network.......2007-12-05
Printer prints fast and great from the PC it is connected to, but when I shared the printer and installed on other computers in the network, it does not print from those PCs. The job gets queued on the "serving" PC but hangs in the queue. I have to restart the print spooler service so the job prints. Contacted HP and they said "We would like to inform you that this printer does not support network printing", I said, ok I know it doesn't support a network card but surely you can share it using windows file & print services and print to it from other PCs on the network. They said "No, we do not recommend sharing the printer through windows". What a joke. Who ever heard of a printer that couldn't be shared through windows. I still suspect their support personnel just don't what they're talking about and I'm sure I can get it to work by trying different drivers but to just come out and say that it doesn't support netowrk printing is lame.

Not OSX Compatible!.......2007-09-03
This printer is not compatible with macintosh computers. The fact that any printer needs a driver with today's technology is a joke, and evidence of how cheap HP has become.
For anyone buying this printer for Windows, good luck with the instructions! The 11 step process of installing the printer has been efficiently translated into 1. remove shipping tape, 2. install accessories, ... load paper, connect power.
Other than these problems the printer works fine, but I will only use it to print the test page. Buy at your own risk.
Oh yeah, HP cut every single corner they could with this thing. It does not include a USB cable. The instructions are on one sheet of paper! Seriously HP, even your $40 calculators come with 100+ page user manuals. I don't want to sit on hold with support to save you money.

Inferior quality.......2008-01-02
You could not print 3 pages continously without jamming ( the printer would pick up 2 to 3 pages from the paper tray at the same time and end up jam itself ). The only way to get around is to manually feed the paper one by one. I have noticed this problem ever since I got it as a gift( it's the reason I did not return it ). I think it's a product design flaw.
I hope anyone who is thinking about buying this printer see this message.
A very erratic printer.......2007-12-11
I purchased 2 of these printers and they have both stopped working. The first just quit within 6 months. The second started out OK, then began stopping while printing in the middle of the page then stopped working all together. I won't buy this model again.
Frustrating!.......2007-12-11
This printer constantly jams. Usually when I'm trying to print on the second side. So, I'll get 20 pages just fine, then it'll jam on the backside and ruin the page numbering. I'm no tree hugger, but I feel bad about wasting almost 40 pages each time I try to print a chapter for school.

jnust like advertised, the ml-2010 is compact and fits nicely in the smallest locations. it prints fast, it was easy to connect to our netwrok, and is very efficient. the only thing i dont know about is how long will the toner last, and how expensive will it be to replace, becasue we have not gotten to taht point yet.

Not as good as the older ML1710.......2007-09-24
I really loved my Samsung ML-1710. But it wouldn't pick up paper and I tried to fix it myself and haven't been able to yet. So, I ordered this one and have noticed that it takes longer to print out the first page. Once it starts it seems fast enough though.
It is also harder to do envelopes since you have to unload all your paper and insert the envelopes down there. I have not been able to manually feed through the top.
And the Paper tray does not hold as much as the old one. I was surprised by all this since I thought Samsung would have made a better replacement not a worse one.
I am going to get someone to fix my old one.

Updated drivers solve most poblems with Airport Express.......2007-12-31
Read several reviews on this printer. Printer had mixed reviews, depending on use. Purchased on 12/22/07, and downloaded the updated drivers, released on 11/14/07 from Samsung. Using with a MacBook Pro, OS 10.4.11 through the USB port on an Airport Express base station. Did not connect the printer direct to the computer, from the start it was run through the Airport. So far only problem was the printer needed restarted after software setup on the computer.
Win XP SP2 works direct with the printer. Will have to try the plugin for XP and see how XP handles the printer through the Airport Express
Printing is smooth and fast, once the printer warms up and cranks out the first page the rest come quickly. For only having 8megs of ram it is quite speedy. Primarily purchased to print text, will have to find out how the 1200x600 resolution works for graphics. The no-jam paper feed system has potential. Won't be able to judge it until I run a couple of more reams through the printer.
Overall a cheap solid printing machine. As long as it holds up and Samsung keeps the drivers current, promises to be a worthwhile printer.
Major Paper Feed Issues.......2007-12-30
I am having the same paper feed issues as some of the other reviewers and it has been only a year (I print very occasionally). It worked great at first and I was really pleased it printed amazingly fast and I thought it was perfect for my needs. But now it is impossible to use, extremely unreliable, I never know when it will work or not. Paper feed stopped working and it does not matter what I do I can't get it working again.

It is compatible with PC - Vista and XP
This printer is compatible with Apple computers - both Intel and PowerPC processors, also it worked great with OS 10.5 (Leopard) as well as OS 10.4 (Tiger). Installation was superfast and printing was also superfast. The first page printed in less than 4 seconds, faster than manufacturers specification.
I can print to an Samsung ML-2510 using my Intel MacBook Pro. I did not find any problem printing and it was super fast. I also hooked my wife's Macbook (Intel) to the same printer and it could print. I am using Leopard OS 10.5 and my wife is using 10.4 Tiger. It does a great job for the price. It will give Brother printer (HL-2040) run for the money and I found it more economical to use compared to HP or Brother.
Beware Intel Mac owners.......2007-12-04
I notice that another fellow said it wouldn't work with Intel Macs (at least, his). I suspect that is my problem. I would love to hear from any Intel Mac owner who has this printer and has printed with it. Otherwise, I do *NOT* recommend it for Intel Macs.
I have done everything humanly possible to make sure the installation was done right (but c'mon--Macs and printers usually are almost brainless in their compatibility), including downloading the latest driver from Samsung. However, the printer absolutely will not print a job from the computer. It prints its DEMO sheet perfectly, so everything in the printer itself DOES work. But it won't print from my MacBook Pro, and I highly suspect that the Samsung drivers, at least this one, are NOT compatible with Intel Macs. Hope I'm wrong...
Satisfy with Printer.......2007-12-04
We bought this printer last December at a discounted price from Best Buy, and it generally has worked out well. Lately, it did have a feeding problem. After looking on Amazon and the web for various solutions, the one that I like is simply cleaning the rough rubber band on the roller inside the printer with a moist cloth. This worked for us.

Canon dye-sub 4 x 6 printer........2007-10-20
I've used the printer for the last two years and made about 400 prints. I've had zero failed prints. Its dye-sub process is much much better than any ink-jet or laser. I wish they made a 5 x 7, or an 8 x 10 unit. You never have to buy ink since it comes with the paper. It costs about a quarter a page. The photos seem to be waterproof, smear proof, and indestructible.

I'm a fanatic on digital photography. I've tried several years to improve the quality of home printing using ink jet printers (I've tried 4 different models of 2 major brands). I was never satisfied enough with quality of printouts/cost-benefit relation. Than I've tried this one. A honest price (hardware) and a very competitive relation on cost-benefit per photo printed. The most important: qualit. It's very similar to professional laboratories. The speedy is quite good (remember you're paying only $40.00). I've also enjoyed showing to my friends the waterproof feature (printouts are really waterproof). You won't regret.
Good quality prints anywhere.......2007-06-25
My niece and nephew bought this for me about 18 months ago. I love it! Prints are a little more expensive but I can share prints with my family immediately. My sister has often complained that since we all bought digital cameras, she never gets copies of prints. Now I never hear that. I have a Canon Powershot G3 that connects directly or I can hook it up to my laptop--a real convenience when on a trip. The Easy Print software is a breeze to use and the photos are as good as those I have printed at Walgreen's. I recently upgraded to a Windows Vista notebook and after upgrading the drivers and software from Canon, the printer worked flawlessly. I highly recommend this product. I'm into genealogy and it's great for a research trip or family reunion.

Very Dissapointed.......2007-03-27
I have never written a review like this before but felt compelled to do so in this case. Those considering purchase of this printer should be aware that the claim that it will work with pict bridge connections is NOT true. I purchased this for my wife thinking that it would be a nice compact simple printer to operate where we could easily print pictures of the grandkids. She and I both have newer Nikon digitals and the pictbridge connection will not work with mine at all. With hers, we can make a connection and, following drections carefully, we can get it to 'energize' the printer but the printer will only print intermittent photos and not of good quality. The printer will not pull the paper though properly. (We have even changed batteries in the camera to no avail and had a tech savvy son-in-law look at it.) I read reviews by others, but feel this printer is simply not reliable. I wanted to share our bad experience with those of you evauating a purchase.
In my opinion, Canon should be more forthcoming with claims about interface with other cameras. I'm in the process of trying to return it to Amazon. We're going to buy an HP, which I should have done initially.

Great, fast and Clean printer.......2007-07-17
I have been using this printer on an all Mac network at my office for about 8mo.s. Besides the fact that it is a little loud when it gears up to print, it is a very good printer. It will occasionally need to be rebooted when it becomes unresponsive. Other than that, it's perfect.
You can't beat the quality and price. It's very fast also.

The print quality is excellent.
The documentation is terrible and the Samsung website is pathetic. Samsung's knowledgebase website won't work with Safari or Firefox!!!!
You have to have a brain the size of a (small) planet to figure out how to get the networking working, but luckily I do.
Works great from my XP desktop, XP wireless laptop, and Mac.
Prints fast. Loud but not bad. When I print on 3x5 cards they come out curled, but regular paper comes out OK.
I will update this as I use it more.

The Samsung warranty is worthless.......2007-10-11
My ML3051ND came with a defective cartridge, producing white drop-outs across all pages. After four months, a dozen calls, and several faxes, Samsung support operators have been unable to transfer my problem to a decision-making level, let alone fix the machine. Their operators have admitted to being overwhelmed. I finally bought a new cartridge, which cured the problem. But even now, Samsung can't find anyone who can authorize a reimbursement. If you don't mind adjusting the paper drive everytime you turn on the printer, you'll be fine. The print quality is very nice and it doesn't take up much space. Good value for the money.

This printer has given us a few months of work and then developed hardware issues. The maker finally replaced it with a new unit.

I print mostly documents and need a compact, fast, and efficient printer. I shopped and found the ML2570 which was advertised to combine size, speed, and the right initial price. It arrived quickly from the shipper, set up in minutes, and provides error free printing, to date, fulfilling its advertised promise. My only concern is that toner cartridges are unavailable at ink refill businesses, to date, so that I have had to shop extensively for back-up cartridges. Since the Samsung original replacement cartridge is roughly 75% of the cost of the printer, this is a significant cost going forward and needs to be considered.
ML2570 Compact Laser Printer.......2007-01-26
I am very pleased with the quality of print and speed of operation of this small, lightweight printer. I use this printer on the road in business and it is easy to handle getting in and out of the vehicle and setting it up in hotel rooms.
The software was fast and simple to install.
The only minor fault it there is no warning for low toner - it simply produces lighter and lighter print then nothing but blank paper - as I print document packages that are 60 to 350 pages at a time this is a problem. It is not practical to check every few pages to see if you still have toner.
All compact printers should have a toner cartridge with much higher capacity, all of the small, lightweight printers toner cartridges are only 2,500 to 3,000 pages and this is much too small. In order to be cost effective I must purchase reman toner as OEM is twice the price.
With that said, I will not replace my ML2570 as it is a workhorse that wants to work, is lightweight for easy handling and does the job I need it to do every time until the features that I somewhat now fault on this introductory machine are improved.
Although Samsung does not advertise this as a portable laser printer, that is how I use it - and the portable market is out there, the manufacturers need to give us laser printers for the road.
Great but a little noisy.......2007-01-09
I am very satisfied with this printer. The quality is great & I would say the 25 PPM is pretty acurate. However, it does sound like a jet taking off when it starts printing the first page. I am actually exaggerating a little but I hope you get my point.

Terrific Little Speaker with Clear, Strong Sound.......2007-09-07
After reading several dozen consumer reviews describing laptop speakers I puchased this one. You simply plug it into your laptop, or USB hub, swivel the gooseneck to position the speaker where you want, and you've got an excellent speaker that fits in a small laptop utility bag.
The only complaint I have is that there is no quick volume control; once you've plugged it into your USB port, it overrides the laptop's volume control "knob". You have to open the volume icon in your Control Panel every time you want to adjust the speaker volume, which can be too slow when you're being blasted by a loud video.
This is not to say that there is anything wrong with the volume modulation in the speaker itself, just that there seems to be a wide volume range across items I view--YouTube, email messages with videos from friends, etc.
If this speaker had a volume control knob it would be perfect!
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DELL LAPTOPS.......2007-09-02
After several weeks of light, mid-volume use, the speaker stopped working on my Dell Latitude D500 and I began receiving error messages noting a "device malfunction". After trading emails with J-Lab customer service, I was instructed to return the speaker by mail (at my expense) for a refund. The refund I received was 80% of the original purchase price because, according to J-Lab, the device was still "working" upon receipt. The representative handling the return acknowledged that there has, in fact, been a history of compatibility issues with Dell laptops-- in other words, a "working" speaker may not always operate correctly when connected to a Dell laptop. Is trying this speaker on your Dell worth the risk of paying two sets of shipping charges, losing 20% of the purchase price, and spending time emailing representatives and repacking/mailing the device? If not, maybe it's worth considering alternatives.
Are we listening to the same speakers?.......2007-08-08
We bought this speaker for our Gateway M505 Media Laptop on a recent trip. The M505 has reasonable speakers for a laptop, but their volume level isn't quite strong enough for us to be happy--we'd always find ourselves straining to hear dialogue from movies.
From reading the reviews I honestly thought this would solve our problem in a nifty self-contained USB-powered fashion.
For us it didn't.
We found the speakers to be nearly identical to the M505 speakers, and while the B-Flex did give us the tiniest improvement in volume, it wasn't enough to really give us adequate volume, or the "big sound" many reviewers have mentioned. Also, there is no way a speaker the size of these can give the kind of frequency response any level of audiophile would be happy with.
So, who should try out this speaker? If you have standard tinny sounding laptop speakers (the almost nonexistent kind), these will be a big improvement. Also you will like the fact that it is USB powered so no batteries, no cords are needed.
However, having said that, I really think the bottom line is, to get truly better sound, you need to use a powered speaker. I think some of the JBL's may be the way to go.
For cost of these guys, unless you catch them on sale, my advice is to keep looking. We had to return ours. (Thanks to Amazon a really fair & generous return policy).
Definite improvement over stock, and extremely portable.......2007-07-08
My boyfriend bought me this speaker. It is plug-and-play. On my computer, often movies are not loud enough for some reason and with this speaker it's as loud as we could possibly want. Also I can blast my music throughout the house from my laptop - before I could not because it sounded horrible at high volumes.
I'm not much of a sound expert, but I think it sounds pretty good.

Love this laptop speakers!! My laptop speakers suck so much that this little guy just gives me the wonderful sound my laptop deserves!! I highly recommend it!!

Unless your laptop's soundcard is not working, or your speakers are barely hearable I wouldn't recommend this. Odds are your laptop does as much as these speakers.
It is well built, looks resistant and it does a decent job. Do not expect very good quality.

I like the sound of mine so much I bought one fo my friend for his birthday. It's not super loud but you can listen to music from your mac, with good quality. Just plug it into your USB port. My friend loves his too. He uses his all the time. Great for travel.

I really thought the reviews for this item were probably a little over-blown, but the speakers have proven me wrong. As someone who primarily uses their laptop on the go, I have been looking for a set of small, easily transportable, decent sounding speakers. These fit into all three categories. I am pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the sound that they put out. If you're strictly an audiophile, you'd be better off investing in a good set of Bose headphones, but if you need something to quickly and efficeintly plug and play so other people can hear what is on your laptop, then you won't find a better buy for your money.
