Great Printer, Terrible Customer Service.......2007-12-20
I have had this printer for several weeks now. I am really enjoying the features. My wife is not the most computer literate person, and she got it installed and on our home network very quickly by herself.
My trouble started in early December. We turned the printer on and had an error message. I went through my own troubleshooting to no avail. I got into an online chat with customer service. After going through the same troubleshooting I had already performed, I was told that the printer was bad and needed to be replaced. I eventually talked to someone at HP (with VERY poor English!) that said they would ship me a brand new one and all I had to do was put the broken one back in that box and take it to FEDEX. Then, they offered me a 3 year extended warranty. I figured that if the printer already had issues 6 weeks into use, I should protect it longer than the standard warranty. After I purchased the warranty, my wife informed me that she purchased a warranty from the store she purchased the printer from. It has taken 3 weeks and MANY phone calls to non-English speaking customer service to finally get it taken care of.
Just today, I received an e-mail from HP that said they had not received the printer I shipped back. Fortunately, I had a copy of the FEDEX tracking number and it arrived at HP 4 days after I took it to FEDEX. I called once again and, after fighting my way through the voice prompts, talked to another non-English speaking rep. who transfered me to yet another non-English speaking rep. She told me to just ignore the message because HP sends that out to EVERYONE that has had to ship anything back.
If I were to rate the printer alone, I would give it 5 stars. But, even the guy at Staples made the comment that this was a great printer, but if we ever had to call customer service, it would not be fun.
Horrible, Costly Ink System! Do Not Buy!.......2007-12-09
Buyer Beware! I bought one of these HP Photosmart C5180 models new, had to junk it as total loss and buy a different model. The six tiny ink cartridges in HP's Vivera Ink Sets run out constantly in staggered rotation. After first few print jobs, you cannot print a 50 page document without replacing at least one of the ink cartridges. Costly and very annoying! And given the plastic packaging, an environmental disaster. This is not a true "all-in-one." It is a "photo-only" printer and basically useless for documents. One of the worst purchases in my life.
French/Out-of-Black-Ink Error with fresh cartridge on day of purchase.......2007-12-03
This is being returned... 24 hours after purchase.
Issues:
- Out-of-Black-Ink error message.
- French panel display.
- Software took almost 60 minutes to install.
- No USB Cable
Being in IT, I can put up with the missing USB cable and 60 minutes to install the software. However - I don't speak french - so the French Display w/error messages isn't particularly useful. (I got somebody in the house to translate for me).
The biggest pain is that on installing the ink cartridge (brand new, in sealed wrappers) that came with the printer - when installation was completed the printer never even tempted to print. No test page, no noise - it didn't even try to load the paper. In stead - it give on it's display (in French) and on the computer monitor (in English) that it was out of Black Ink. After messing around for a while - I gave up and re-boxed the darn thing. I can only assume either the printer came out of the box broken - or HP is shipping these things with empty ink cartridges.

This is an awesome printer. It delivers! Clear, precise picture printing. Scans and copies nicely. Overall ease of use, what I'd call,
"user friendly". I'd highly recommend this printer.

As others have said, the installation process for this printer is time consuming and cumbersome. Other than that, I love what I have seen so far from this printer. The scanning and coping functions have worked very well with above average quality. Print quality is very good. While it takes about 30 seconds to send a document over the wireless network, it certainly is nice not to have to plug my laptop into the printer every time I want to print something. A great choice for a printer in this price range.

Don't buy if you are using Win2000!!!.......2007-12-17
If you are using Windows 2000 DO NOT buy this printer!! It says that it supports Win2000 on the box and the install disk also says that it is Win2000 compatible, however, after 2 hrs on the phone with HP support they said that it wouldn't work with Win2000!! And then the tech hung up on me because I wanted to know why the install disk and the box said that they did support Windows 2000!!!
HP All-In-One C6280 Printer.......2007-12-11
I Bought a Brother printer because it made True color copies. I found out later that printing pictures with it was not good. I reserched and liked the Specs on the HP C6280 All in one. Printer-Scanner-Copier. Also I wanted a printer that prints on both sides of a sheet of paper. When the printer arrived, I tested it and picture prints were excellent. Face tones on subject were just right. The printing on both sides workes perfect. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Great Printer for the price. The best feature is the duplexer, really saves paper when you print multiple pages. Nice easy user interface to use, & setup was easy as well.

Just got it today, the set up is REALLY easy, I'm using it as WiFi (via Ethernet).
A wide range of options and preferences, I LOVE the two-side prints, didn't have time to try the Scanner and the Copier yet... but I'll follow up as soon as I try them.

Sometimes the Printer seems to disconnect from the PC but it last last than few seconds and then connects again, and that didn't affect the printing orders.

Photos Better Than Lab Quality.......2007-11-29
I have gone through several color printers in the past few years. This printer by far is the best quality color printer to date. In my opnion it should be rated as a number one printer for the money and quality it puts out.
It is one of the few out printers out there that use 6 color cartridges which makes a HUGE difference in the way your photos appear. With a higher spectrum of color, the blend of colors are much more natural.
I work in an industry in which I work hand in hand with a lot of print shops (I don't work for HP). The shops that use large format HP printers use the same 6 color configuration that the C6280 uses. What that means to you is that you are getting virtually the same quality out of the C6280 as the more expensive $30k to $40k large format printers that print shops use.
One of the greatest features of this printer is that you can get a photo that you had taken lets say 4x6 print, scan it, and print out a 8x10 copy of that photo with just as good resolution. You can do all this without using a computer. You do it all from the printer itself. It is really like your own portable photo lab.
The biggest recommendation that you need to follow is that you MUST use HP photo paper to achieve the best results. That is all I have used and I have not been disappointed yet.
