Nothing but problems.......2007-11-24

I liked this unit for the first four months in spite of the fact that the installion CD does not work with Vista and I had to download the software from the web. Then the scanner quit working. After numerous emails to support and trying all of their "fixes", they finally sent me a replacement. Then the software problems started. The drivers kept mysteriously uninstalling themselves. HP had a fix for that but when I downloaded it and tried to run it, it told me I didn't need it. I was finally able to get a printer driver to stick around but not the scanner driver. I have literally spent hours and hours uninstalling and reinstalling the software more than a dozen times and still have never gotten back the printer control panel. After another round of emails with support, they gave me inaccurate instructions for using their downloaded uninstall utility which caused more problems when I tried to reinstall the software. After four tries I finally got a finished install including the scanner driver. But still no HP Director. Now the scanner is not functioning properly again. It cuts off the top of every document regardless of where I place it on the scanner bed. I wish I read these reviews before I purchased this. I'm so tired of dealing with the aggravation, mine is going to end up in the scrap heap as well.

Very Pleased.......2007-10-19

This is a fantastic all-in-one for my needs. Great for a home-office. Communicates fast with your computer, prints pictures and written reports very clearly and vividly. I have had no problems with the faxing aspect, nor the copier/scanner.

Pros: Sleek, stylish and functional with clear and concise buttons. Display screen is easy to read. Price is definately affordable. Has a direct port that you can connect to from your camera.

Cons: Ink cartridges are small (as stated in other reviews), paper tray capacity is minimal, and scanner feed tends to jam up a bit if you are scanning more than 2-3 pages.

Overall, quite pleased with my choice!

I needed a fax machine so I spent a while looking for one. Then I found this one for only $59.00 on Amazon. It has color prints, copies, scans, and faxes with an original price tag of $199.00. With my trial prime membership, the 2-day shipping was free. I bought more than 1 of course. It is one of amazing deal that I have seen. It's pretty easy to setup and very easy to use. I use it for copying, printing and faxing. I don't intend to use it for a long time; afterall, once the ink runs out, I would just replace it with another one.

TERRIBLE PRINTER - DO NOT BUY!!!.......2007-08-23

This printer worked perfectly for all of about 2 months. After 2 months, it completely stopped printing for some reason (not due to low ink - I replaced the ink cartridges and it still wouldn't print).
The other day I tried to fix the printer, and it didn't work. So I called up customer service, which told me I was out of the warranty period (I bought it over 6 mos. ago), and instead of offering to help me fix it, he tried for about 15 minutes to sell me a new printer!!! Finally I said no thanks, please just fix the existing problem -- to which he said "in order to continue this call it will cost $34.99 b/c you are out of the warranty period"!!!!! I then found free product support online... kind of like an IM... so I was chatting with a tech person for about 20 minutes, and in the middle of our conversation, in the middle of her helping me, she just signed off!!! Talk about TERRIBLE customer support!!!
I will never buy an HP Printer again, ever.

Best printer I've owned, & I've had them all. Fast, great resolution, ink doesn't dry out from disuse like others.

Quits when you need it the most.......2007-12-19

Like others, my 6110 stops in the middle of a photo print job. The only way to start it again is to completely remove the s/ware package and reinstall. Then you start the whole process again. A few photos printed and it stops.
I'm having a terrible time finding a multifunction that does what I want, when I want.
When it works it does a beautiful job, but the trick is to get it to work.

We have had this printer for 4+ yrs. We have overall been very pleased. I have had to uninstall/reinstall software 3 times - so not to bad compared to what others have said. If it ever gives out on us we will for sure look at HP all in one again. I love the features -fax, scan copy, print. It was very useful and convenient.

Very, very slow, high-maintenance printer.......2007-07-21

Have wrestled with this printer for a couple of years in my home. Am finally abandoning it. It's horribly slow and I've had to reinstall the software about a half dozen times.

And I am an HP printer guy. Every printer in my company is an HP and they all work well. This one model, though, is a disaster. Don't buy it. Especially not a used one.

Short, Sweet and to the point..........2007-05-30

After owning this device since 2003, it owed me absolutely nothing. I can't count the number of times it wouldn't recognize the new (and expensive) color and photo cartridges. Then after ignoring the unit for several months, the fax function only worked 5% of the time. Follow that with the constant arguments we shared about the bloody door being open when the doors were all closed. Then the idiot finally turned into a vegetable... Literally. The firmware corrupted... failed suicide attempt maybe. Point being, after three years of substandard, and quite frankly pitifully poor performance, I will not buy another HP multi-functoin, or laptop for that. The two of them crapped out after just 3 years.

I suppose the up side is that they lasted 10x longer than the average Hollywood marriage!

I'm on my fourth machine. I bought it from Sam's Club and thankfully bought the 3 year extended warranty. I can't begin to list all the problems it's given me. Right now, I can't get it to print. It's done this many times. You have to uninstall the software and reinstall it. It's such a pain! Just save your money and don't buy this!

I have always been a fan of HP but they certainly do not support their all-in-one products. They are so caught up with their fancy photo printers, these office machines are tossed aside. The fax machine rarely works, if I see the error "paper-mismatch" one more time I'm going to puke! I've called tech support and all they do is refer me to the website troubleshooting guide. I tried to explain I already followed that to no avail, but our English to Pakistani wasn't working so well. This one is going in the trash, I'm getting a Canon.

Stinks - get a better brand.......2007-01-07

I've always had bad luck with HP "All In Ones". Each time I think, "surely they must be better now" but I am wrong. I am going with a different brand next time.

This unit can't even send faxes well without locking up or crashing a high frequency of the time. The software is bloated and slow. Sometimes it can't properly feed a small stack of documents to print or fax.

3 years and $300.00.......2006-01-04

I have always been a loyal HP user. The 6110 lasted three years and then took a dive on me. Over the last year I have had to deal with the fax freezing up constantly. The printer has worked well but today I have permanent failure with my scanner thus not allowing me to use any of the all in one functions. $100.00 per year plus all the cost on ink. It was OK but I think I will try another brand.

HP 6110 poses more problems than it's worth.......2005-07-24

My husband and I purchased the scanner/fax/printer 6110 model in Feb. 2004 thinking it was a smart choice. Just call us dumb and dumber. The install on our Mac OSX system was a chore, and by May, the machine refused to send or accept faxes. Period. We were given a refurbished model that performed decently until Dec., 2004. Another refurbished model was sent to us in Jan. 2005 and by July 2005, it was dead again, this time suffering the fatal carriage jam that has haunted so many other former HP customers. The lesson here? Do your homework and beware this model.
