HP All in one indeed.......2007-12-29
If you want value for your money, this is the product for you. It was delivered to me in great conditions and since installed works great. The attached software is also very user friendly.
Great price, great all-in-one.......2007-12-28
I bought this all-in-one for my mother-in-law who uses the printer on a limited basis and wanted a copier. Her comfort level with the computer and electronics is limited, but installation was fast and easy. She finds the controls easy to follow and use. The quality is just great and she is thrilled.
HP Deskjet F4180 Printer.......2007-12-28
Although it is a good product, I was disappointed that a cable to the computer was not included.
Good for light use, don't recommend for frequent use.......2007-12-18
Great price at Amazon and it prints and copies well. The price of a replacement cartridge is much less than my old Dell laser printer. Have owned this printer about two months now and twice have had jammimg issues. However, I really don't do much printing and this is an easy problem to fix so its not a big deal for me. Not sure if I would buy it for daily/frequent/heavy printing use though. Definitely buy the cord to hook up the printer to your computer- its not included and even Walmart wanted twice as much as the one they offer here on Amazon. So- nice price, decent printing (a step down from laser but this was a trade off I anticipated)-great for light use.
Malfunctions frequently.......2007-12-14
Since I have bought this printer (which was only 4 months ago), I have numerous problems with the software and the printer itself. I had to reinstall the software seven times and for some reason after a few weeks my computer can not find the printer itself anymore. The quality of printing is good but the printer itself is of poor quality. I have had numerous HP products (2 laptops, 1 desktop, 3 printers and other accessories) and all had a short life expectancy and were of inferior quality. For the same price as this printer one can buy a far better one just from another brand.

Customer Reviews:
Great for a basic printer.......2007-12-16
Bought this printer to use while deployed out of the US. I just needed a basic printer that would last me a year. I find the print quality to be better than I expected it to be and it can churn it out pretty quickly if you put it on the low quality setting. It is also very quiet. Don't know if it will stay that way but so far so good. One bad thing: it sucks down those black ink cartridges faster than you would think it would. For someone just needing a basic printer though with good print quality this should fit the bill.
Excellent simple printer.......2007-11-01
I got this printer because its cheap, the ink was affordable, and I trust HP. I've been using HP printers for 6 or 7 years now and have had no problems. I needed an affordable compact printer for a dorm room, and this fit the bill. The print quality is very nice, I find it to have a good print speed. I haven't had any problems with it like I have seen other reviewers complaining about, and I don't foresee any. I'd recommend this for someone that just wants something that prints with nothing fancy.
HP printer surprise - no ink.......2007-10-19
The package has the black ink cartridge not included. Sort of a trick which I don't care for. Otherwise, the printer in OK.
Compact and Utilitarian.......2007-09-13
This is a small, light printer that will suit your needs if what you're looking for is portability.
Terrible Printer.......2007-08-26
The pages came out crooked and the pictures came out different sizes than chosen. Pictures and text page images
were off center- cutting off parts of the intended information and leaving blank areas on the other side of the page. I choose not to have the extras programs, because they are trouble, but the printer install disk put them in against my wishes. Took me 2 hours of hunting those files and deleting them. Most of those files were for "upgrades", so the installation of those files were spam to try to get me buy more- virus is a better word. In the trash is where I but this printer and I hope nobody else has to go through what I did. Do not buy.

Customer Reviews:
good printer for the price.......2008-01-01
I have worn out many printers at home and I expect to burn this one out too. I refuse to buy a high buck model since I can get printers like these for cheap and use them at least two years before they wear out. There is no guarantee a more expensive printer wouldn't burn out in that time either. Plus I did not want an all in one since I already have a scanner. I use it simply to print documents, have not tried pictures yet, but I am pleased. It is not super fast but I didn't need a fast one. It is efficient and quiet. Easy to hook up, easy to install the software, fairly quiet, and the ink cartridges are reasonably priced. All in all I am happy with the product, and will likely stick with HP products. Was looking into a Canon but this was better priced and available for immediate shipment. It came quickly and I had it set up within an hour. I would recommend this to someone who does not print often as it is worth the money. I would recommend this to someone who prints a lot and is not afraid to take a chance with a less expensive model and risk earlier wear and tear over a more expensive model.
Nice Printer.......2007-12-31
I found that this printer was worth the price. It is a good quality printer that prints good quality pictures, including photos. However, it runs out of ink WAY too soon.
Good all around printer.......2007-12-23
I received this printer 3 weeks ago and I have been very pleased with it.
I have used it to print word documents, greeting cards, envelopes, and Avery name badge labels. The print quality is good, several of my friends who received the greeting cards printed on 7 X 10 ¼ card stock have commented on the print quality. I have not had any problems printing on different size and weight paper. The document feeder has always feed one piece of paper at a time and I have not experienced any jamming. The only drawback is that the paper tray does not hold very much paper.
I would recommend this printer to anyone who is looking for a good all around printer for home or to take to college.
Software problems - can't adjust any settings.......2007-12-18
My Canon IP4300 DIED suddenly in the middle of printing yesterday. I read now on Amazon that others have had trouble with the ink cartridges refusing to register and work after a simple routine refill. I was not happy with Canon at all so I decided to try HP. We have HP printers at work which i don't like - software and performance are unreliable. But, the HP4260 was in stock at Staples and the quality looked phenomonal on the test prints.
I returned this printer within the hour. The installation appeared to go well - routine actually. But, when I tried the printer with two different common software programs, changing any setting would simply not work. Only the default settings worked. There were other hiccups too and the instructions are awful, compared to Canon at least.
For $30 more, I got the Canon MP470 which also copies and scans. Granted, I don't think the quality is any better at all than HP4260 - it's probably a little worse actually. But, every Canon product I've ever owned - 2 cameras that still work great and two printers - one of which still works great - all installed flawlessly and worked with all programs right out of the box. The instructions are clear, illustrated and concise step by step. The MP470 ink cartridges are different than Canon IP4300 so hopefully, I won't be getting a new printer in a year.
In any case, I still give the HP4260 2 stars simply because the quality and speed are great for a mere $64. However, it's all useless and moot if the HP4260 doesn't work with any of my common programs. Darn. I really wanted this to work.
Good Printer, HORRID Software.......2007-12-18
I just bought the DP4260 to replace an older HP printer that had died. The printer is pretty good, reasonably fast, and print quality is good. I haven't had it long enough to know how fast it runs through ink cartridges.
However, the software that comes with it is HORRID. It is bordering on taking over your computer to turn it into an HP monster. Periodically at random times it brings up ads. Whenever I print it works fine, then some time later after I am no longer connected to the printer and have moved to a different room and different task it decides that something is wrong with the printer, and it tries to remind me every few seconds to fix it (how it could possibly know that something is wrong when it is not even connected to the printer I don't know). I have not found any way to turn off the repeated warnings (the most obvious stuff doesn't work), nor to get any other work done, other than restarting the computer.
The printer seems pretty good. However, I will not buy another HP printer and will consider throwing away this one unless they fix their software. I will try (when I get energetic) to uninstall the software that comes with this printer and try to do a custom install of only the software that is actually needed for printing.
In my opinion, you should not buy this printer unless you know enough about software to load something other than the default software install that comes with the printer.

Customer Reviews:
excellent choice.......2007-12-24
Ordered printer several weeks ago, but just installed into service on Sunday, Dec 23. Called the HP help line and the tech was very curteous and helpful in getting it 'online' wirelessly. Enjoyed the process. The printer works well, and the print is very clear, at least as good as my series wired printers. Will be using this printer for two computers.
Happy customer except................2007-12-19
I am very pleased with the HP DeskJet 6980 Color Printer. The only thing that I was not pleased with was the printer setup. The instructions are not very clear as to what step is needed for installation, you are basically guessing your way through.
Do NOT buy this printer........2007-12-07
This is absolutely the worst printer you could buy. It comes off-line every time you fill the paper or change the ink cartridge (which, by the way, is insanely difficult to do) and then, just to rub salt in your wounds, the HP company CHARGES you to help you at their 1-800 number, I am not kidding. $34 bucks a pop. If you have problems with this defective product, you can pay them to try to get the thing working again.
I'm only one year into owning it, and now, on top of all the other grief it has given me, the printing is unstable, prints fuzzily and double-lines. It's un-usable now.
I will NEVER buy another HP product.
Great Printer When it Doesn't Go Offline.......2007-11-15
I've owned this printer for 8 months and have connected it 3 ways, wirelessly, via USB, and through the ethernet cable on both XP Professional SP1 and Vista Ultimate. This printer works best on XP. The CD that HP includes with this printer is fairly straightforward and works for XP Professional. I set up all 4 computers in my house with this CD using the wireless access point connection. Everything was fine. This printer prints quickly and accurately. The main network was an old PC that we never used. The problems started when we all bought new Dell Laptops with Vista Ultimate OS. Without the CD, set up was fairly simple: control panel, printers, add a printer. My Dell 1705 notebook was now serving as the main network. The problems started whenever I needed to reboot my wireless cable modem from Time Warner (RoadRunner). This caused the printer to go "offline" and I had to add a new port to the printer to get it "ready" or online again. This happened a number of times so I got fed up and decided to connect it via USB. That worked well for a few months until my wireless cable modem stopped working and we had to swap it for a new one. Once I installed the new wireless cable modem, the HP printer would flash blue whenever I tried to connect it wirelessly or via USB. The only way I could get the blue indicator on the printer to stop flashing and work was to connect the printer to the Network via the yellow ethernet cable. Fortunately, all the other Vista laptops in our home were able to connect and print. However, the printer kept going "offline" every couple of days on the main network computer. The only way to fix the problem was to delete the printer in the control panel and then add the printer. Fortunately, the other laptops on the network were not affected by this and continued to work. I then tried to get this printer to work again wirelessly or via USB, but this time I had the green light on the printer constantly flashing, preventing my main network computer from printing. So, I went back to the Ethernet connection and now things have finally stabilized for the past couple of weeks.
HP technical support was clueless. All they did was have me disconnect the plugs from the outlet and then reconnect. They said that the USB connection gets corrupted with Vista OS and if you have too many wireless things going on with your network, it can cause the printer to go "offline". I found technical support to be better 8 months ago before it got outsourced to India.
One HP techie told me that it is best to make the main network computer for your printer to be one you never use. There is some truth to that, but my wife didn't want a big old dusty computer hanging around our house.
Documentation is terrible. None of the problems I had were addressed in the troubleshooting guide. Moreover, the only way I was able to replace an ink cartridge was to disconnect the adapter from the wall socket.
I would not use this printer to connect wirelessly via an access point if you use VOIP at home. One of the problems I had was that the IP address for the printer and my VOIP IP became the same and it was a nightmare to disentangle the two, while neither worked.
For now, everything is OK, but who knows how long that will last before the main network computer goes "offline" again.
Wireless is cool, but it can also cause lots of mysterious problems.
Bad choice.......2007-10-25
This printer is extraordinarily bad, especially considering the price I paid for it. I bought it for the wireless printing capabilities, which work with some caveats.
First, I run windows XP on two wireless enabled laptops. I did not have any problems installing the printer on them, as some other people did, but I used a USB key drive, which made things easier (the setup wizard will copy your wireless network settings onto the drive, then you plug it into the usb port on the printer and it puts the printer online).
That said, the printer drivers are TERRIBLE. They never shut down when I restart windows, so I have to manually end program whenever I want to restart either of my computers. Additionally, the drivers don't connect to the printer all the time when printing wirelessly for some reason: for example, I just printed two pdf files via wireless; the first printed fine, but the second failed and I had to cancel and restart the print job.
The printer is also horrifically loud. When printing, it literally sounds as if plastic parts inside the printer are snapping continually. I don't know if I just got a bad model, but it sounds as if the thing is being molested whenever I need to print something. Ironically, there is a 'silent' mode button which does absolutely nothing.
The ink cartridges are low capacity, meaning you will have to swap out ink cartridges more often than other printers. The ink seems not to last as long as it should, even when one considers the cartridge's small size. Be prepared to buy cartridges often if you plan on using this printer to even a moderate extent.
In summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. the wireless feature is not worth the money you'll shell out and the many cons this printer has

Serious Design Flaw.......2007-12-21
When replacing print cartridges there is a folding, wire spring that contacts the cartridge. The spring easily comes out of place. If so, it will damage a printed circuit when the cartridge is installed. The printer is now worthless. I had no luck with support or repair parts. Searching for help, discovered multiple postings of this issue.
Good printer.......2007-12-12
Researched all over for what I wanted, lower profile, fast print with color, to replace my worn out HP 870Cse. This is it! Faster, with great color.
Wireless connections.......2007-11-17
Hesitated taking this HP Deskjet 6940 out of the box, because I dredded hooking up to my two desktops and one wireless laptop. Well, once I got started, the printer was able to install itself fairly easily - yea, there were a couple glitches and it took me a couple days to get all three on-line - but it all works very well. I would recommend this printer for small home networks.
Printer very good, Driver very bad........2007-10-25
The physical DJ6940 printer is great. Good clear printing, no misfeeds, no hassles.
The 6940 driver package is terrible. It has bugs, has a ton of useless add-ons, and, if you can get it to work, causes the printer to run painfully slow.
The best fix for us, was to just install the drivers for the Deskjet 990c. With the 990c driver, the printer prints perfectly and is very fast to get the first page out. We don't do anything exotic, so this was the best solution.
HP Deskjet 6940.......2007-10-07
So far, this printer has worked flawlessly. Print quality is very good. It engages the paper sheets properly, so when printing 3-to-a-page checks, everything is properly aligned. I have used it for printing label sheets, and again it grabs the heavy sheet properly so the labels are printed nicely. As with all printers, the ink cartridges are overpriced.

Great Portable Printer.......2007-12-08
Somewhat bigger than I had anticipated, but even so, it works like a dream. A great solution for the itinerant computer-user. Seems very reliable to date.
Not Bad.......2007-11-10
Not a bad little printer. Light weight and easy to transport. It prints a little slow; but, I bought it for the portability, not printing speed. The only real complaint I have is with the paper feed door. It's very flimsy and only a matter of time before it breaks. And when it does the printer is going to be pretty much useless. Oh, one more thing. It doesn't come with a printer cable so order an A/B cable from Amazon when you order the printer. Update: can not load on Vista from the CD. Plug it in and manually add the printer. HP has a good on-line chat with a technician website.
Vista compatible?.......2007-10-31
HP lists this printer as being Vista compatible. If you look carefully at their Vista driver information (HP.com driver downloads) for this printer it notes that the Vista driver provides limited functionality. My HP 5550 printer was also listed as being Vista compatible and limited functionality which meant that borderless printing was not available, ink levels could not be seen, it didn't recognize the #58 photo cartridge, etc. So, I am skeptical the 460 is really Vista compatible. There is, however, evidence that HP is working on full compatibility. To be clear, I do not actually own this printer and have no basis for rating it. I just wanted people to know what Vista compatibility really means, at least to HP.
Mobility Plus.......2007-09-10
Very pleased with overall performance. No printing or jamming problems during these first few months. A little heavy to lug in the laptop case but manageable.
awesome.......2007-09-08
A plug and play printer(don't need the installation Cd with Vista and Vista doesn't seem to recognize the CD anyway) with Vista. Didn't have to calibrate the printer. Gives you printing options like 'quick print' for less ink use, faster prints- handy feature.
Been using this priner for a month with no problems.

Excellent product.......2007-12-07
I purchased the printer in October and have used it sporadically until now (early December). I have yet to replace the ink cartridges, which means it has easily printed a couple hundred pages. For a portable printer, it's hard to get better than this. The printer is reasonably fast, installation was a breeze, and aside from being a little bulky, it's the perfect road-warrior companion. The battery feature is fantastic and thus far hasn't presented any problems. I used the reviews by others on this product to make my decision and unlike those that rated the product low, I has zero problems with the driver installation (just popped in the CD and was ready in a few minutes) but remember to have or purchase a USB cord if you don't already have one. I also haven't changed the printer settings and haven't had any ink problems but haven't printed photos. My feeling is that if you want to print photos, you should get a photo printer. Finally, by a little bulky, I mean that it is a bit thick but it still fits in my briefbag with my laptop and all the cords but that's all that will fit in there.
not bad but.......2007-11-29
product failed after 1 day (no blue tooth) called HP they sent new card (was not the card)HP sent new printer. The whole experience was less then desirible but HP were ok once I got to speak to a rep. They want to handle everythin with chat. I explained it was new and finally got to speak to someone. Did not call or ask Amazone for any assistance
HP Mobile Printer.......2007-09-24
I recently purchased this printer to use on domestic and international business trips. Unit has performed flawlessly, with excellent document resolution. Simple to use and travels well, even after I dropped the unit twice going through TSA check points. Only drawback is that it is a little bulky and I had to purchase a new computer bag to carry the printer and lap top on airlplane trips. Well worth the investment, no hesitation to purchase this product. Would also be great printer for students at home or in college.
A true mobile printer.......2007-08-26
If you want a true mobile printer, the HP460 is the way to go, based on the current market. I did not see anything else that compared. I bought it to use to print forms and schedules for a boy scout troop while camping. I needed something to use with my laptop out in the woods with no AC power readily available. The battery held up very well. I had to go find a power source to charge my laptop, but the printer held up all week. I probably printed 40 or so pages on a charge without trouble. Print quality is as good as a standard desk jet. The paper feed and output doors close nicely into a prot
