Not worth the money! .......2007-06-09
Had it for less than two weeks and the player no longer works. The player would shut off for no reason occasionally and then finally it had a total malfunction. Customer service only had one solution and that was to reformat it on my computer but the computer would not recognize it being there. Had trouble with switching between songs with the toggle switch. the headphones are bad to use, sound quality is ugly to say the least. You get what you pay for!!
so far so good.......2007-05-03
I have had this product for about 8 mos with no problems. I bought it for 19.99 at a local save-a-lot store. The pros, other than being inexpensive, is its ease of use and transferring music. my pc immediatly recognized it with no disc needed. There are a few cons but for the price they are negligable.
Don't waste Your time.......2007-03-09
The only possible attraction to this gizmo is the price. With that said it is still over priced. I purchased my Coby player from a local sporting goods store because I didn't want to pay a lot for a new mp3 player. I just had a really good one that I spent maybe $49 dollars for, stolen. And when I went to buy a new one they were priced around $80, $90 and up.
I went with this cheapo item and paid about $36 hoping that if I lose it or get it stolen again it wouldn't be a big deal. Now I'm begging someone, please take it. I used it for a few days and did not like the difficult screen menus. You have to scroll with a toggle switch several times just to get to a menu that enables you to play music. The toggling is not intuitive and you have to jar it several times before it actually moves once. The view is less that an inch tall and so you really can't see what your playing.
Long story short before anyone got a chance to steal this one it stopped working completely in a couple of weeks. I just took it back to the store for a refund of my money. It is well worth it to spend another 10 or 20 dollars and get a decent MP3 player.
Great for four months.......2007-03-05
This item was great for the few months that it worked. I liked how I could just plug it straight into a USB port to transfer music. I had just started using its voice recording function when it stopped working. I was able to record a lecture and do an interview with it. It seemed to me to have a good range and playback. I typically didn't use the earphones, but rather plugged it into my tape player in my vehicle. A drawback perhaps is that songs are listed sequentially, so it is not possible to select a menu, choose your favorite artist, and then choose a specific song from that artist. But, I didn't mind that so much. The major flaw was that it stopped working. The COBY screen flashes on and off, never getting to the point where I can play any music. I can still use it as a thumb drive to store media if I want, but it's a bit bulkier than my other ones. When I contacted COBY about doing a reboot, I was told how to reboot it, but that it was out of the short warranty period. I know that no device is going to last forever, but I think that I'd like an MP3 player to last longer than 4 months.
It's okay..........2007-02-25
Alright, first off this piece of crap will randomly stop playing. It started off when I'd just walk around that it would turn off, but now sometimes I barely TOUCH IT and tilt it to the side to look at the song and it turns off. It is NOT easy to use if you're a HOLD button person... if you have it on hold while plugged into your computer, it will not let you delete or add music, which made me panick at first and fear for a permanant playlist.
Also, the headphones that come with it are REALLY not worth it, they are really really bad, so go buy some nice Sony ones.
AND, the song switcher thinger is a little defective... it's neat, but you can push it down and it'll hit something inside of the MP3 player that makes the songs skip and be all crazy... so it gives me a fear of damaging the insides of my MP3 player whenever its in my pocket or something.
I think thats about it... I wouldn't recommend it, unless you want a cheap piece of s***.

great while it lasted.......2007-04-05
I got this just for walking at the park, so didn't expect much but it died after a few weeks. It stopped working and would only shut off when I removed the battery. When I hooked it up to the computer again it didn't recognize it at all. While it worked it was great--easy to use, easy to load songs (I fit about 60).
Great Buy!.......2007-01-30
I have had the mp3 player for over a month. I use it when I work out and have had no problems with it. The arm band is the best accessory i've found!
Cheap and easy = short lifespan.......2006-12-13
When I was shopping for an mp3 player, I wasn't looking for something really expensive, just something cheap and easy to use for when I worked out. It is extremely easy to upload and remove songs from - so easy I didn't even have to read the directions. No software to install. It doesn't hold an impressive amount of songs, around 50 to 55, depending on the length of the songs. I personally did not like the earbuds because they weren't padded and were uncomfortably large for my ears. I would recommend this mp3 player to the person just looking for something cheap and easy to use, but don't expect it to last you a long time - it only took a mere 5 months for mine to die on me, and I took good care of it.

Wouldn't Recommend........2007-12-10
I bought this Mp3 player as something cheap to use while skiing so I wouldn't have to use my expensive one and risk breaking it.
I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody. 256MB is only about 50 songs, which you have to scroll through yourself. There is no menu to find certain songs you want to listen to. After a few weeks, mine started speaking giberish. If I went to the menu, it would look something like SJ#$#@^%(JFS.
The battery time is only a few hours, and the USB connection is something I've never seen before. If you lose the cable, as I did, somehow, then there's no way to use it again. I've been trying to look online for something similar to it but I just can't find one.
works well.......2007-06-09
this mp3 player seems to hold together pretty well. some of the controls are a little strange though. sound quality is good and a little loud so it uses batteries quicker.
very very good stuff.......2007-05-15
this is a very good stuff it make every things that say!
Big Bang and a surprise.......2007-02-22
Bought it to use for mp3 to replace a CD player for the road. Tried it to record my band and after finding the right settings, this thing is a great little recorder. I can record gigs, no gear to mess with and download it to my computer, burn CD's, etc. Tried other brands and they cant even come close as recorders. Cant beat it for the bucks, and sounds better than the CD player it replaced, too. Only complaint is the ear buds were HUGE!
Coby MP3 Player.......2007-01-21
What do you want an MP3 player for? To listen to music, right? Well, this little unit does just that and more. The earphones were a little uncomfortable, so I bought a set of Skull Candy earphones with an inline volume control for $10 and I'm set. The nice thing about this unit is that it takes an SD memory card, so you can upgrade from the 256MB it comes with. And although it's advertised that you can upgrade up to 768MB by adding a 512MB SD card, I found that you can add a 1GB card and get even more songs on it. It has a voice record function, so you can dictate notes to yourself. A nice feature, but who buys an MP3 player for that, anyway? For the price, this little player beats a lot of more expensive ones just because a lot of them don't have the capability to expand memory.

This Player Sucks and So Does The Customer Service.......2007-10-05
I purchased this in January, 2007 and my PC refuses to recognize the flash device. I contacted customer service and they were hard to reach. The one e-mail response I got only included a copy of the instruction manual. Since I had already exhausted all the options in the manual this was not helpful. I have players, a RCA and another Coby, the other Coby has the same problem even though it's a more expensive product with more memory and options. My RCA still works great. Avoid this product, it is hard to keep working and reprogram. Since I purchase and use a lot of PC equipement and help others with their stuff, I am very well informed. I recommend skipping this product, it's not worth the cheap price. Since my brother gave me the other Coby at the same as a gift, at least I am not out the price of two useless players.

Amazon Product Description
Today, fans of MP3 players have a variety of options from which to choose. Those who prefer super-high capacity players -- some of which are capable of storing over 10,000 songs -- should look into hard drive-based players such as Apple's iPod or Creative Labs' Nomad Jukebox. Those who want removable media should investigate MP3 CD players such as Panasonic's SL line. But if budget, size, and durability are a priority, flash memory-based players are the way to go. Substantially smaller and less expensive than most of the alternatives and utilizing shockproof flash memory rather than comparatively fragile hard drives or CDs, flash memory players deliver excellent bang for the buck. The tradeoff is capacity - flash memory players simply can't store as many songs as some of the pricier units. Nevertheless, most can handle at least one hour of music, more than enough for most music enthusiasts. One such flash memory player is the Coby MP-C640. At just 2.75 by 2.2 by .75 inches, it appropriates less pocket space than a typical wallet yet stores approximately two hours of music on its 128 MB integrated flash memory chip. And if two hours isn't enough, you can effectively double it to four hours by adding a standard 128 MB SD/MMC memory card. But the Coby MP-C640 offers much more than just MP3 playback. It's an FM radio too, as well as a digital voice recorder with up to 16 hours total recording time. Coby has also added several desirable operational perks, including a five-position user-selectable EQ and a dot matrix LCD display for instant access to information such as song title and artist. Compatible with both Mac and PC computers, the Coby MP-C640 features a mini USB PC interface for uploading and downloading, a USB cable, convenient carrying strap and a pair of stereo headphones. The unit requires just a single AA battery and delivers up to nine hours of use per cell.

DO NOT BUY..........2007-10-29
I bought this MP3 as a replacement and regret making the decision. It was cheaply priced which made it attractive but what it did not get in the purchase, it has more than made up for in how it goes through batteries! I can say it is "the gas guzzler of MP3s". The program it uses WMA which makes it easy to load and has a stopwatch that is useful in the gym. The controls are located where any bump can stop or pause the music if you carry in your purse or pockets; overall not worth the investment.
Coby MPC641 MP3 Player.......2007-09-21
Rating out of 5 stars....negative 5!
This is the worst thing I have ever purchased. The thing looks very cheap. Once you put the battery in it, it turns on. You can turn it off but guess what...can't turn it back on. There's a defect with the on switch. Then when you play a song it only last about 10 seconds before you hear a beeping noise and the whole thing shuts off. Complete piece of crap....don't waste your money.

attempting to return.......2007-11-10
Not giving negative rating yet but will re-post as needed..I purchased these about 6 months ago. I LOVED them was pleased with the sound quality-had no problem downloading etc.
HOWEVER- they have stopped working. Now when i attempt to turn them on they just shut off - will not play. I have contacted the manufacturer- they will repair or replace them if you have the box and send a 31.00 money order and pay shipping both ways. (might as well buy a new one)
Now i see they are unavailable. I have contacted the seller as of today and am anxiously awaiting their response. I will re-post hopefully will be able to give you a positive response!
Simply Awesome........2007-09-26
These headphones are fantastic. I use them for running and they fit perfectly over the ears with the band behind the head. Other reviews have complained that there isn't a way to organize a playlist, which is true, but the songs don't play at random: they play alphabetically by filename. The sound quality depends entirely on the sound quality of the individual mp3's themselves -- the speakers are great. The headphones are lightweight and require only a AAA battery to run. That being said, they are fragile and should be kept safe when not in use. I only wish they were still available; I would buy three more!!!

my favorite new toy.......2007-09-04
Reasons I gave 4 stars:
1. No wires.
2. Great sound quality.
3. I have fairly large hands and fingers, yet the controls are extremely easy to use.
4. Impressed with battery life. I'm not going broke buying triple A batteries.
5. Fits quite well even though it's not adjustable. Comfortable even after a long period of time. Of course, that will only apply to people my same size.
6. The price. Quite reasonable for what you get.
Reasons I didn't give it 5 stars
1. Not enough memory. I like a lot of songs. Only about 50 songs would fit out of my over 700 that I have. For the price, I might even be willing to buy another to put different songs on.
2. No shuffle feature.
3. A bit bulky. (Yet not as large as I feared after reading other reviews.)
4. Can't be used as headphones with another player.
All in all, considering the price and what you get for it, this is a product I would recommend.
Great idea, bad execution.......2007-05-20
Multiple problems with these headphones. I use them for voice tracks so I have no comment on sound quality. There is no display so there is no way to know what is happening with the system when you press a button. There is no repeat function. The headphones will only play one track over and over again -- I can't forward to another track. I'm very displeased and am going to return them.
Just What It Is.......2007-03-10
Fine sound, fine fit, but does exactly what I wanted. Have spend probably close to a thousand bucks on various mp3 players and wireless headphones when it occured to me there were probably headphones with a player built in. Perfect for my workouts.
