Questionable life rating..........2007-09-22
Your mileage may vary... The original bulb that came with the projector lasted from May to April in our home theater and saw daily use of 2 or so hours. The replacement lasted from April to September with the same usage pattern. I find it very hard to believe the manufacturer stated rating of 3000 hours when we are experiencing something closer to 1000 hours in eco mode.

i have yet been able to get the stated hours out of any projecter bulb . i use low power setting,clean the screen and fans monthly ,etc etc. can anyone explain why these bulbs are so overpriced? are they made with some sort of rare element found only in the rainforest??? lol . sombody is making cash off these dlp bulbs ,thats for sure.

This item was received safely and works perfectly as a replacement bulb / lamp for our projector. Our Amazon Prime membership really came in handy because when our projector lamp burned out, we wanted a replacement as soon as possible. A replacement was delivered in only 2 days because of our prime membership and delivery was free!

Great Bulb, Replacement Plan was a Scam.......2007-09-20
The bulb works great and comes with easy to use instructions and even a small screwdriver if one if not available. One caution I'd have is to wait a few hours after turning your projector off before changing the lamp (Yes, HOURS). Inside is very hot, and touching the lamp before it is cool could burn.
Although I liked the lamp, the company that provides replacement plans on these products gave me the run-around on the lamp I bought last October. I bought a one year replacement plan and thought (wrongly) that my lamp went out last month. When I asked about a replacement, they told me that my plan was void because they only cover permanent hardware. I checked the Amazon page and the same company was still offering replacement plans on that product 11 months later, meaning they were still selling replacement plans that they claimed not to honor. Makes me wonder how many people in those 11 months bought the plan and didnt have it honored when their products failed.
On a side note, my lamp had not actually failed. It still works fine, and I have put in over 2,500 hours on it (another reason not to buy the replacement plan). I use it for cable, DVD and to play my Wii.

Get a battery backup for your projector!.......2007-11-29
This product is necessary for the use of your projector. Obviously! =) Unfortunately it is VERY $$$$$$, and the life of the lamp does not last a long time. When using projectors, the lamp needs to be cooled for a bit before completely shutting down, otherwise the life of the lamp diminishes. This was the case with the lamp that came with the projector that I purchased. It would be a good investment to purchase a computer UPS when using a projector to make sure that the lamp gets "clean" and consistent power as well as providing power in situations where you have a sudden blackout. This will give you some time to do a proper shutdown of the projector and also provide power for at least a minute or so to cool down the lamp!

Don't buy if your bulb burst.......2007-01-09
Do not buy this if your bulb has burst. There will be powder all over the mirrors and lenses inside the projector (mine was an X1). Unless you clean out the projector the image will be ruined. There is one lens made of soft plastic & it will surely be scratched by the time you get all the powder off it. InFocus will not sell any internal parts and the minnimum repair fee is $250. So you will have to pay another $250+shipping to have them clean out the projector in addition to the cost of the bulb. If your bulb has burst you may be better off buying a used projector that works still.

You MUST keep the lamp filters clean. The first one, (factory install) lasted only 750 hours. I suspect it was because of the dust build up and over heating, (never did). When I replaced the lamp, the dust filters were clogged and probably contributed to the short life of the lamp.
Also note, when you power down the projector, (using the remote) the cooling fan continues to run. To have it completley shut down you have to manually turn orr the power switch on the projector.

This produces a great picture, but the life of the lamp is very short. We have now replaced the lamp twice. Both times, the new lamp lasted less than 400 hours. Will try one more time, than probably replace the projector.

I tried to get this item elsewhere for a similar price, and waited weeks before finding out that they didn't even have it, and couldn't sell it anymore. This I had to pry out of them with constant inquiries as to what happened with my order. Contrariwise, Amazon had the product for about the same price, and gave me FREE shipping. The order came within a reasonable time, and I was informed as to the status of my shipment the entire time without needing to inquire. The item was packed very professionally and safely.
