Customer Reviews:
Yes, they actually look as cool as the photo.......2007-12-02
First let me say that these are perhaps the coolest looking headphone's ever. They are s.l.i.c.k.. They are also pretty comfortable especially as these type of "on ear" headphones go but after about an hour or two your pinna will start to ache. Of course this type of headphone is probably the least comfortable depending on the person (I can't wear the inner ear ones as long without my auditory canal starting to throb) and anything with a headband, while more conspicuous, will be far more comfortable. As an aside, the Grado's are probably the most comfortable headphones on the market at any price range.
They do look and feel very delicate and probably would not last being tossed into a backpack but use of the included padded case and some basic caution should be adequate to keep them in operational condition.
Sound quality is good for being enclosed headphones and you really get what you pay for here. To get better sound quality you'll have to spend more money or switch to an open field transducer like Sennheiser or Grado specialize in. The wood, while an acoustic damper at concert hall scales, acts more like concrete to the scale of headphones providing a very concise response that doesn't have the "sponginess" of plastic enclosed transducers. They cherry wood is also as fly as it gets in a very "I'm cool enough to listen to Hip Hop but sophisticated enough that my hip hop is the Beastie Boys" way.
In summary; these things are good looking enough to wear even if you aren't listening to music, sound good enough to really enjoy your music, and are comfortable enough to wear for an album or two. If you want to wear headphones all day don't get these or this type of headphones for that matter. If you want better sound quality for the money get the Grado Prestige SR 125 - Headphones ( ear-cup ). If you want better sound and discrete headphones you'll need to pay more and should perhaps look at some of the re-tasked professional inner ear monitors from companies like Sure Brothers.

love these.......2007-06-21
So I've tried many (most every in ear from $60 to $500) and like these a lot. I think they are the best head set if you don't want a in-ear set.
That said, the real problem with these is they are not in-ear. If you press them into your ear to block out ambient noise they sound incredible. The base and treble are very accurate. I got them because the in-ear headsets block out at least 25db and some up to 35db. This is great for sound but bad if you want to hear what is going on around you.
Also, these things are a work of art. Every one that looks at them smiles and want to touch them. They way they fit is awesome.
A Design Miracle.......2007-04-18
The design of these earbuds are something to behold: a delicate clamp that keeps the buds in your ears without actually passing the berrier of the outer ear. The sonic success is more arguable.
Some of the mids sound very accurate and even exciting, and the feel around your ears is quite a departure from standard earbuds and in-ear monitors. But because the buds always remain outside your ear, noise from outside can be an issue. Moreover, these seem to lack the kind of definition I was looking for; the bass was muddy and undefined, and the treble lacks snap.
Maybe the most worrisome aspect of these earbuds has nothing to do with the product itself. A number of Asian bootlegs of the earbud have been marketed online, selling for under a few dollars. They look like the original, but they sound quite different. If you're going to invest in a pair, make certain it comes in the original cardboard box with literature. Otherwise, you can almost guarantee that it's a fake. A respected name like Audio-Technica deserves more more.
Very present sound throughout the range........2007-02-16
Nice and light. I can wear the phones for hours without discomfort.
They will cause some discomfort IF you push them too far into the ear, but if worn properly they are just fine...
NO instructions came with the earphones.
My opinion of Clip-on/earbud Hybrid Headphones.......2007-02-02
Sound great, a little tricky to get around my ears and in place. These headphones really need a carrying case of some kind.

exactly what I was looking for!.......2007-11-30
These are great headphones, especially for the price of $50. I was looking for a high audio quality clip on which is comfortable and wont fall off while I am skiing- That is what I got! I use them for everything and I really like the swing-click mechanism in the hangers. If you see someone you want to talk to say on campus, you can slick them open and they stay on your ears but the speeker swings away from your ear. Mostly this feture is for ease of taking on and off, but it works well in this mannor too. On top of that, these headphones have a great ability to let you hear outside noises if you listen to your music a little quieter, yet the sound is still very clear.
Let me clearify something about the sound quality on these bad boys. The sound quality throughout the highs (treble), the mids, and the lows (bass) is very very clear, crisp, clean and defined. Even on the lows. When people say they do not thump this is true. But the lows are still high quality. With my ipod on bass enhancer, they are great. I mostly listen to Underground Hip-Hop and alternative indi rock/punk/ska. They are good for hip hop. they are not going to thump like your car subwoofer, but I challenge you to find a headphone that does not have a band that goes over your head like bigger heavier headphones do, With thumping bass and as good all around sound quality. I have heard instrumental parts in songs I have never heard before with these babies. They handle volume very well, not destorting in the least.
They are asl very comfortable for clip ons. they might take some adjusting and getting used to, but once you get it down, you may find yourself forgetting your wearing headphones.
Conclusion:
great sound quality throughout the spectrum, but not hard heavy thumping bass, if thats what you want, get a bigger non-audio technica headphone. That being said, they are great for any type of music, and I enjoy listening to Hip Hop on them.
Comfortable and convenient. They look kinda funny to other people. My friend started calling me marvin the mashin. Other people have complimented me on how they look. good strong build quality. great for skiing/snowboarding and walking around campus/commuting. highly recomended, espeically if you dont like ear buds and want something smaller then the traditional head band headphones. probably the best clip on headphones period.
ATH-EM7GM.......2007-10-22
Extremely stylish, pure sound, and very comfortable. They have a cloth-wrap chord with an included matching extension, and they come with a storage case.
The headphones are made of a brushed aluminum. Smaller than they look in the picture, not heavy. The earpiece pops out so you can put them on easier, and they can be extended an extra half a centimeter for even more comfort. The wire on the outside is rarely noticeable. Might take a little getting used to, since the design is so different, but once you find the sweet spot, these headphones are great. Definitely good for your money.
Light, clear, crisp sound.......2007-10-18
Bought them for $49 from J&R and I believe they are worth every single penny. Very, very comfortable to wear, the sound is clear, crisp, and simply.. beautiful (I listen to pretty much everything but R&B, and I love the way they sound - anything from ambient new age to metal to reggaeton to audiobooks). I compared them to semi-professional Sonys and Pioneers ($100+) while I was in the store, and Audio-Technica's won every time on audio quality.
Try them today!
Loveable earphones.......2007-10-03
pros:
very stylish
overall good sound quality
comfortable( I used it for 5 hrs, it's true!)
cons:
weak bass!!
tend to slip (rarely- I guess that's because I have small ears)
GREAT design and aesthetics, but where's the bass!?.......2007-07-19
I read the other reviews here on Amazon before purchasing these headphones. Unfortunately there isn't much selection in the clip-on area and these appeared to be the best. After getting them, however, I'm very disappointed with the bass production. It's...nonexistent? That's an exaggeration, but it is very muted. In comparison, the treble comes through loud and clear, leading to a sound I'd describe almost as "scratchy". Compared to my Sony MDR-V300 headphones (over the head) these are junk.
That said, I didn't buy these headphones for heavy-duty listening. I got them primarily for commuting and other activities where larger headphones (and long cords) are a bit unwieldy and bothersome. The aluminum look is very nice, and the ear pads are made of a soft rubber which is very comfortable. They are some of the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn.
When it comes down to it, I'm not sorry I got these headphones, just a bit disappointed. I bought them for commuting and traveling, and for that they'll do a good job. If you're looking for sound quality, though, I would urge you to stay away and look elsewhere.

Audio Technica ATH EM7.......2007-06-12
These look as good as they sound. Extremely clear, and crisp. Full range in sound. Using it with a Creative Vision M. Plenty of flexibility with all of the EQ settings and bass boost from the MP3 player. Like the clip on design too, very light on the ears.
I also have a pair of the ATH AD700's and the clarity and seperation is very similar. Very happy with the purchase.
