Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Customer Reviews:
Great value for the price!.......2007-01-10
I needed a simple wireless headphone and got this for a great price. I just needed something to use when watching tv late at night so that I don't disturb others. Works great for tv use. You just simply plug the base unit into the tv's headphone jack, plug the cord into the outlet and you're ready to go. I can watch tv from across the room and go to another area of the room and still listen to what's going on. It's got a decent range. I got the Sennheiser wireless for the stereo in the living room. I use these for the bedroom tv and it does the job. I had to pay a lot for the Sennheiser and I wasn't going to pay a lot just to use it for the tv. I highly recommend it.
Great value, Good concept - a little weak on the execution.......2002-01-02
Decently Comfortable, very convenient, easy to set up and use aside from poorly placed and inconveniently designed battery compartment. It is exceedingly difficult to insert batteries into the half-battery height compartment which opens above left ear phone and to get them in place, but its worse to remove them despite presence of a ribbon in the compartment meant to ease the process. I write the following with the advisory that I evidently had a defective unit: thinking fresh batteries might cure the initially less than satisfactory sound volume, I (with extended effort) replaced the initial, presumeably weak batteries with a fresh pair. The batteries immediately overheated to the point of being untouchable and I feared the headphones might melt, and only finally removed the batteries after an insane amount of effort and prying with other objects, after which I decided the lower half of the battery compartment cover would likely break before long due to the force required to remove batteries, and decided to return the unit - therefore never getting opportunity to effectively judge the sound. I have been using the Emerson backphone headphones for years and find them a spectacular value with fine sound.
The greatest!.......2001-05-30
These are awesome! You can listen to your tv, stereo, etc. from almost anywhere! Even if your outside or on a different floor. This thing transmits through doors, walls, floors, other people, anything! (I think it's range is about 100 feet) Plus, you control the volume. So, you can crank up the volume and be in your bedroom listing to the CD in the living room! You can move around, too, and there is no interruption.
Decent sound, quite comfortable, poor range.......1999-08-31
These headphones fit well, and have decent sound. On the down side the 100-foot range is wishful thinking, at least indoors. I bought these headphones for use our treadmill. Unfortunately, the treadmill motor interfered with the headphones unless the transmitter was placed directly next to the treadmill, headphone volume was set low and T.V. volume was moderate. This worked out well in my house. I ran a headphone extension cord from Radio Shack from the T.V. to a table next to the treadmill and got good sound. If your T.V. doesn't have a headphone jack like mine this is a great improvement. If you are looking for a set of wireless headphones for use near the audio source, and don't need mind blowing sound, these headphones are well worth forty dollars.

doesn't work.......2006-06-04
These are just cheap emerson cd players that they mark the price up double because it has a character on it. My son has one that will only play a cd when running on batteries about 1/3 of the time - the rest of the time it just spins and then displays "ER" on the lcd. Seems to be a problem with how it operates when on battery power, as it doesn't have this problem when running on A/C power - the very same cd's will play just fine. And these are brand new never been played cd's that it does it with - not scratched or anything. It was very disappointing for my [...] to want to take it out to play for his friends and have it rarely work.
GREAT ITEM.......2005-09-22
This is such a cute radio/cd player. My son loves it! It's definitely not a toy, it's a regular boombox, not designed for excessive wear and tear of very young children. Great for older kids, though. It's got a lot of great detail and good sound.

Customer Reviews:
Larger than i thought. works ok..........2006-10-08
The dimensions for this device are 3.5" x 2.5" x 6" and the antenna telescopes out to 9". I purchased this for the crank function which takes approx. 60 seconds for a full charge which lasts about 10 minutes (though the manual says 20 minutes.) The plastic used to construct this devices seems solid. The sound of the built in speaker/amplifier gets distorted after 1/4 turn of the knob but its loud enough at that setting.
The reception is decent and since i only listen to one station the analog tuning doesn't bother me.
It came with a little leash which seems perfect for strapping it on a belt.
Its good for what i wanted it for, a walk around the block so i can listen to NPR...
