Toshiba's Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. AWESOME LCD!!! Can't go wrong...........2008-01-01
I've had this LCD for about 1 month now and I absolutely love it. Set up was easy; less than 45 min from box to wall. Picture is bright, clear, and vivid. You can't go wrong w/ this one. I also own 2 Sharp LCD's and wasn't sure if I should purchase another brand. But, I'm glad I did. For the price you can't beat it. I'm also ordering the Toshiba Regza 47HL167 and can't wait to get it. I can't figure out why there are some negative feedbacks on this one...It's an awesome LCD. READ THE MANUAL BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO DO THE SET UP...this will avoid confusion....I'm not really a tech savy person, so If I can set this one up...anyone can!!! (I'm still confused as to why one reviewer wrote that it took them hours to do the set up?) That one has me puzzled...

I must say that I made an excellent decision with by purchasing this TV! I am very particular when it comes to my HD picture and this TV has exceeded my expectations. When going to Best Buy, I had my mind made that I would be purchasing the Sony Bravia KDL-32S3000 for $1099. So I get to the store to look at it and yes it did have a great picture BUT I hated the cabinet. IT looked old. All the new TV's have the black gloss and then this one just looked OLD! So I walk by looking at other TV's and I notice the Toshiba. In the store it looked ok; nothing special about it, but the price is what caught my attention. Not just that, but I currently have a 46" Toshiba projection in the living room which I love. So I snatch up the TV for $799 mind you and I get it home and set it up!
I AM AMAZED! The TV looks so much better in my bedroom than it did at Best Buy! In the store it just looked eh, which is probably why it goes unnoticed. And being that they promote nothing but Samsungs, I can see why this TV goes unnoticed.
The HD picture is absolutely stunning. The blacks are deep true blacks and the color is so vibrant and bright! It has the 3 hdmi, 2 component, Pc hook up, and toslink digital audio which Rivals the Sony (only having 2hdmi) and the Samsung's which have the same inputs. Picture wise, this set will more than meet your expectations. In my opinion it definitely outshines the Sony and the Samsung models, especially when it comes to the price! The picture is vibrant; motion is smooth (no blur during fast scenes) and no pixilation. I currently have a DVD up converter, Xbox 360, and Comcast cable box hooked up to this set in the bedroom. It definitely stands and delivers!
So to anyone out there that is comparing TV's and looking for great value....I highly recommend snatching this up! A great brand with EXCELLENT Picture/Features at an AWESOME price! Hope this was helpful for you!

White Glove Delivery ? Not as described!.......2007-12-29
UPS called, delivered the TV to my residence. It was well packed and the box showed no damage. No problem. (they did not bring it in my house,unpack it, remove packing material and check the tv for damage). However, had the box shown any damage I would not have accepted it! It is difficult at least to try and collect damages on an item damaged in shipping.
Oh yah, the TV. First impressions are good. Satisfied with the picture quality. Lots of options. Only problem was their set up mode. Quite clumsy and time consuming. It took hours to program in chanels etc. I am not sure if all new sets don't have the same issue.
Great tv at a great price.......2007-12-29
I'll keep this short and to the point. I did extensive reviews online before buying the Toshiba Regza. The other two tv's I was looking at were the sharp and samsung. The samsung's seemed too buggy (hdmi sound issues) and the sharp didn't have the options I wanted. For almost $100 dollars less the toshiba was a great choice, and the picture is great!
Some people have issues using the vga input, as it limit's the resolution to 1280x1024. My solution was to use a dvi to hdmi cable to output 720p from my computer, then set the tv to native resolution. I use the tv like this a lot, and it looks amazing!
Sure, there are better tv's out there, but if you want the best bang for your buck, you can't go wrong with the Toshiba!!

Great TV - thrilled with purchase.......2008-01-01
We did a lot of research before purchasing the Samsung TV from Amazon. The brand was also recommended by a family member who works in the TV industry. We shopped the local stores likes Circuit City and Best Buy; however, we found the "best buy" on Amazon and their "white glove delivery service" was all they said it would be. We actually had to return the first TV that was delivered, as there was a high pitched sound coming from the TV that was always in the background when the TV was on. I called Amazon and advised them of the problem and the customer service rep didn't hesitate. She immediately offered a replacement and the new TV was shipped out the same day. We received it several days later and the Eagle delivery truck showed up at my home when it was expected. The courier unpacked the new TV, we checked it out and he packed up the original TV and left with all the packaging and trash. The TV has a beautiful picture and we couldn't be happier with our purchase.

Audio Cutout Problems.......2007-12-30
I bought this TV to replace a 27" CRT Zenith TV which in the 10 years I owned it never had one problem with it.The first two weeks I used this new TV never a problem. Then one night the audio must have cutout 500 times during a two hour period. But the audio has been just fine in the last week so I'm not sure if it is the TV or the HDTV cable signal.
This has been a well known issue with these TV's when using the HDMI port. I contacted Samsung's customer service dept. and must say I am really disappointed with them. Contacted them over a week ago and still no new reply. If the audio problem is either ok or fixed I would give this TV a solid 4 stars. I think it is in the top 3 as far as 32" sets go from what I've seen of them. This was my first major purchase off of Amazon and so far it has been good dealing with them.

Excellent brightness, clarity and color. The price was some $200 better than I found anyway when considering initial price, shipping and taxes. The Amazon shippers emailed with the tracking number and told me when to expect it...then called me to set up a deliver time. Once deliver was made...set it up and made sure everything was working and there was no damage and offered to haul off all the packaging. I don't know what else can be expected. GREAT experience. Would definitely do it again.

Absolutely, the best HD LCD TV I have ever seen. The Picture quality is superb. I recently had friends over for a Christmas Party and they were amazed at how detailed the picture looked. I set my contrast to Hundred, Picture Brightness to 55, and Sharpness to 75 and the result is HD heaven. Samsung, in my opinion puts out a fantastic product at a reasonable price. I own three Samsung Tv's. One DLP and two LCD's. They all are fabulous. I would not hesitate to buy this TV or any other Samsung TV. It is well worth the money.

It's A Keeper.......2007-12-28
Pros: Built in QAM HD receiver works great with COMCAST. Good control of picture and sound preferences. Excellent sharpness and color. Good sound without use of external speakers. Great value.
Con#1: Less than stellar fast motion and camera pan viewing for sports. This is a common LCD complaint but Toshiba does advertise "CineSpeed" which is supposed to address this. With a 8ms response time, I expected some motion blur. For me it's acceptable but you might want to check one out in a store first.
Con#2: Doesn't render analog, over the air channels well but not many of these digital sets do. This will be a moot point in 2009 as analog goes away.
Summary: For the money you can't go wrong if you're in the market for a smaller LCD set. We find the built in DVD player handy and it reads scratched rental disks very well. You can get the same set without the player for about $60 less.
One Last Thing: On Amazon shipping - make sure you give the carrier your cell phone number, or a number you are always at, as the primary contact number. They must make contact with you by phone before they will deliver. If they can't reach you, they don't deliver.

I had to re-order this television after the first order was cancelled due to the item being out of stock. The first order was from a vendor not suppoted by Amazon.com and what a mistake that was. The second order for the Toshiba REGZA 32" LCD/DVD combo was directly from Amazon. The order went through right away and was delivered quickly. I am both satisfied with Amazon and the product.
White Smoke / Very disappointing.......2007-12-23
When I connected the TV to the electric outlet it began to throw large amounts of white smoke with a toxic smell. This is very disappointing as this TV set apparently was high rated.
I buy a lot from amazon and never experienced any problems before.
Now I'm waiting for amazon response in order to return this item and have a refund.
The TV set looks very nice aesthetically, however, this in not very relevant if it doesn't work.
Next time I would stick with the traditional brands.
Leave TOSHIBA for the laptops.
I got just what I wanted........2007-12-21
I bought this TV for hanging on the wall in the bedroom. It is doing its job nicely. My one criticism is that the menu is not intuitive whatsoever. We also recently got a Vizio plasma tv. The set up and menus for that tv were a cinch. I suppose that is my comparison. This Toshiba required some effort to get through the menu. Now that I am learning it, it is okay. Just not intuitive. I like the three level mute function. We are getting a decent standard def picture over our Dish Satellite. The built in DVD player which I opted for cost only $38 more. It is working very well. The shiny black case of the TV is attractive. The sound is just fine.

OUTSTANDING picture out of the box.......2008-01-01
I bought this TV online on New Year's Eve from Sears, brought it home and set it up in our armoire in the bedroom. I hooked up the high definition signal as provided by DirecTV and we have been blown away by the quality of the images. I am a five year plus owner of a 38" CRT HDTV (RCA) and the pics on that tube are out of this world, too, to this day. I didn't think an LCD could live up to it but, in fact, the Aquos 32" may have even surpassed the CRT HDTV 1080i images. I highly recommend buying the 1920x1080 resolution; it's worth the extra couple of hundred bucks - ESPECIALLY if you have a high def provider like DirecTV. x768 doesn't cut the mustard as well in my opinion. Consumer Reports gave the Aquos x768 pixels mediocre reviews compared to the other units out there but I don't think they saw the x1080 Aquos in 32". It's awesome.
I did not purchase a service contract on the thinking that if this baby doesn't fail within the first year of the manufacturer's warranty period, then in my opinion, it's paid for itself. It's lightweight and I saved the box on the small chance the unit fails. I can always mail it out for repairs under the warranty period however I do not anticipate this from all the other positive reviews I've read.
Best looking set for the money at this size........2007-12-29
The set-up was not as straight forward as expected with this set. You must fasten the stand on yourself. That is put the set on its side and mount the stand manually. A little nerve-racking but not 6ave's fault. Sharp or Amazon never mentions that little project you need to accomplish before you can actually watch. Other than that the set is as advertised and meets all my expectations. Especially nice for broadcast HD sports games. I am an hard-core gamer too, and with the 2 HDMI inputs, I was able to upgrade from my previous set, hooking up PS3, or PC(with HDMI to PCI adapter not included), virtually trouble-free. I would have to say even some of the non-HD channels on cable come in pristine and stable. Sound checks a little, when switching between components...HD cable side a little lower octave, and you must turn the sound up. But really NO adjustments were made to the set on my part for my personal taste....I left it as is, normal factory settings....also one last note, if you are wondering what to clean this screen, I advise using a tried and true HD LCD solvent, such as iKlear, which can be purchased in any Apple store. Spray on the cloth that comes with this set, and apply with gentle side-to-side strokes until the residue evaporates, and call it good.

We bought this TV for use with our PS3 in the loft and it is awesome. Yes, the difference between this 32" 1080p and our 32" 760 is very evident and well worth the money. It's an outstanding TV all around and the most affordable 1080 set that I could find. I'm selling the 42" 760 set in our bedroom and replacing that one with an Aquos 42" 1080p set. It is worth the extra money. Set up is a breeze with this TV too; our other ones require you to change settings for different devices/resolution but this one detected the PS3 with a Blu Ray movie and automatically adjusted to 1080 ... I'm smiling with this purchase!!!
great tv for the money.......2007-12-24
The Sharp AQOUS LC-32D62U is great 32 inch set brilliant colors and great contrast ratio. It does have its short comings only one S input and two HDMI inputs and the remote has limited capabilities as far the input selection is concerned -was disappointed with the functionality of the remote . I guess the bigger sets have better inputs and a better tv remote capability .

This flat screen is great and easy to hook up,it works great with satillite. I have it hook to tivo,dvd and vcr and it does a great job.
The picture is crytal clesr and sound is great.The wide screen does well from angels.

After much research we decided to pay more for this Sony than we otherwise would have paid for other 32" flat screens. The picture is outstanding and the sound quality more than adequate. We invited some friends over who recently purchased a different brand flat screen and have HD reception. They couldn't believe the difference in picture quality. Although she isn't a sports fan, she wouldn't allow us to turn off the football game; she was mesmorized by the beautiful picture.
The set was delivered ahead of schedule by a courteous driver.

First, I cannot say enough good things about how easy it was to order this TV, and to set it up. I basically took it out of the box, hooked up the cable, plugged it in, and told it to go search for channels. It was fantastic. I even decided NOT to rent a cable box, figuring when I want to watch HBO and SHO, I can go to the living room and send the guys back here to watch a football game! The picture is so much clearer and crisp than any TV I have ever owned. The sound is great. What a great buy. Delivery took about 5 days, and was worth the wait. Great job, Sony and Amazon.

I couldn't be happier. I and my PS3 are very happy with this HDTV. Before I decide to buy this TV, I was thinking in buying a cheap 32" 720p, but after reading in some forums and reviews that you really should go for a better TV and not for the price, they are right, this TV has 8000:1 contrast ratio compared to 850 to 1000 on cheap models and also with this set you can rely on Sony, an well known brand. My sister bought a Westinghouse 32" 720p back in October and now 2 months later the TV keep turning off by itself very often, so go with Sony. I still have analog cable, so I was doing a search for channels and besides my 71 channels from Comcast, this TV also found 52 digital hidden channels that my other TV couldn't get it, inclusive some HD channels, like on my area Discovery is 44 and TLC is 45, but between Discovery and TLC there were 3 more channels like 44.1, 44.3 & 44.4, this was awesome, and one of the HD channels is ABC, now I'll be able to watch Lost in HD. YEAH.
Also I would like to thank for all of these reviews, they were realy helpfull. I did order this TV last week from circuit city, was on sale for $850 and only $10 3 day-shipping, but now this week the TV is on regular price for $1,100, so amazon has the best deal now.

I do not know a great deal about lcd hdtv's but can say that this is a fantastic TV. Excellent picture, very good sound, and priced well. I see absolutely no reason to spend hundreds more for other brands. I really doubt that any difference would even be perceptable.

This is a great TV. The picture is very nice and clear. I just wish I would have gotten the bigger one! The price was right too, compared to others I've looked at. It was shipped (FREE) right to my house in 5 days. I did not have the delivery man set it up although he offered. All in all I was very pleased with this purchase. (I also bought the Playstation3 and an HDMI cable, and what a difference the cable made when watching blu-ray discs and playing games.)

I absolutely LOVE this tv. I just purchased it a couple weeks ago and this was after months of searching for the right tv. The picture on it is amazing and it have good sound quality. The tv itself is very aesthetically pleasing and from a girls perspective very cute. It shipped right away and I had it less than a week afer I purchased it. I'm overall very happy with my purchase.
Sharp's 6ms Refresh Rate Makes A Big Difference........2007-10-29
In my opinion, the Sharp LC-32D43U and LC-32D42U provide the best overall value for the money, when compared to comparably priced 720p native resolution LCD TVs.
I have owned the Sharp LC-32D42U for 4 months now and I couldn't be happier. The Sharp LC-32D42U and LC-32D43U 720p TVs are identical, with these exceptions: The 42U has a low-gloss frame with a silver base while the 43U has a high-gloss screen frame with a black base. (The 42U is a lower cost warehouse version and the 43U is a higher cost department store version.)
One downside to these Sharp TVs is that they reportedly do not do well deinterlacing or recognizing 3:2 pulldown when fed 1080i signals. However, when fed their native 720p signals, these TVs perform beautifully. Some reviews also mention subpar standard-definition 480i video processing (I rarely watch analog TV or VHS); fewer picture adjustments than many LCDs (this has not presented a problem for me); inability to change aspect ratios with HDMI sources (this won't bother purists who appreciate a movie director's intended aspect ratio). When fed a 720p signal from a cable or satellite box, HD reception looks great. (Sharp also recommends that the 720p output setting be used with Blu-Ray and HD players.) I have not experimented with the computer input, but most people report being satisfied with it.
In spite of its faults, the main attraction of these two Sharp LCDs is that they produce outstanding picture quality with 720p input: Deep blacks, vivid contrast, accurate colors and a very fast 6ms refresh rate which makes a big difference during fast motion scenes. When viewed next to comparably priced Sony, Samsung and Toshiba LCDs with 8ms refresh rates during fast panning and other fast motion scenes, the clarity of the Sharp TVs is vastly superior. This fast refresh rate is also the reason that many gamers prefer the Sharp TVs.
Unlike several other LCD brands, all of the Sharp digital processing (automatic brightness, enhanced picture contrast, black level expansion and digital noise reduction) can be disabled. The LC-32D42U can be found in the $700 range, making it a much better buy than its higher priced fraternal twin, the LC-32D43U. Also, the industry trend toward low-gloss LCD screen frames (such as the one found on the LC-32D42U) makes good sense, because black matte screen frames do not reflect room light or show dust and fingerprints.
Admittedly, the Sharp TVs do not have the greatest sound. However, the Sharp TVs can be configured to variable stereo audio output (simultaneously muting the TV's internal speakers) and the volume level of external self powered speakers (I am using an Altec Lansing 3-piece computer speaker system) can be controlled with the Sharp remote. Wireless headphones can also be used, with full volume control from the remote and the TV also has an optical output which can be used to direct digital sound to a surround sound receiver.
Great LCD for the money.......2007-10-24
For the money this is a really good LCD. The picture quality is fantastic, but I have to agree with several other reviewers who noted the sound quality of the speakers is pretty disappointing. I had to hookup a pair of external speakers the same afternoon I bought the television. Even with the volume turned up high these speakers just don't deliver much sound. The other thing worth mentioning is that the base of the set doesn't swivel, so if you were hoping to rotate the screen forget it. Setup was easy, and the television weighs next to nothing (I'm guessing 25 lbs or so) compared to our old 27" CRT!
