After the USB ports onboard the Dell computer died, I needed something to connect the myriad of USB devices on the desk (2 external storage devices, two printers and one scanner). I purchased the Belkin controller because I've been satisfied with other Belkin products that I have purchased in the past; their price was a bit higher than similar controllers from other manufacturers. The hardest task was extracting the USB controller card from the plastic packaging. Plugged the card in, powered up the computer (Windows XP Pro) and plugged in the devices. Everything worked like magic and faster than the original onboard USB ports.

the only problem I've had with this is if I leave something plugged into it (like an iPod) and try to put my computer to sleep, it doesn't work and I have to reboot.
Otherwise it works great! I have an old Mac G4 867mhz that did not come with USB 2.0.

Installation was simple (requires adding a card internally to your computer), and Windows XP supplied the rest of the installation. I did install the supplied driver, but was probably not needed. I have used this card for a month now without any problems.

I installed this PCI card on a Power Mac G4. There were no USB 2.0 ports on this computor. This Belkin PCI card has increased the speed of uploads to my iPod.

Easy installation on my Power Mac G4 - no drivers to install. I've tried other usb cards, but Belkin is definitely the one to get. Works perfectly with Mac OS 10.4.8; iPods synch and charge without any issues.

I have an 2001 Sony Vaio PCV-RX550 (P4 1.5Ghz 256Ram XP home). Installed the card in an open slot, booted up, XP found and loaded drivers no problem. Why pay more when this does the job? Highly recommend.

I was shocked at the price, shocked that I got it in a timely manner, shocked that it was so easy to install, and shocked at how much faster I was able to transfer gigs of music to my iPod at USB 2.0 speed versus USB 1.1. I am extremely pleased and will probably order another one for my other computer.
Did not work as I expected.......2007-10-08
I bought this card to connect to external hard disks. The installation is very easy on my XP computer. However, this card simply does not work with my external USB 2 hard disks. I tried a few USB drivers on it. One (128 MB) worked, the other (4 GB) did not. My digital camera seemed to work with it. I reinstalled the card a few times, changed the bios settings, PCI slots and so on. Nothing helped. Now, I have to get a different USB 2 card.

Excellent USB 2.0 Card.......2007-08-30
This card comes with a multi-page installation guide and a CD-ROM of drivers. However, no disk is required to install on a Win XP SP2 machine. Plug in the card, tighten it down, start the machine and XP finishes the job. It works fine in parallel with existing USB 1.0,1.1 ports on the motherboard. It delivers USB 2.0 speed with USB 2.0 devices.
I have bought less expensive cards, but they didn't work as well.

I have a Mac G4, and this card will work. However the first one I had was determined to be faulty (Belkin tech support surprised me by actually being helpful and knowledgeable), and I sent it back for a replacement. The second card works better, but I still have issues with it not always recognizing something plugged into it on startup.
Amazon's packing of this item was sub-par. It was simply put into an anti-static bag, and put in the standard Amazon box, with an air packet tossed on top, this did nothing to prevent the card from rattling around in shipping.

This was very easy to install. Just pop it into appropriate slot, screw it in, and install the drivers. WOOT! Too much runs on USB these days and most machines do not have the space for all of your USB goodies. This solved my problems. It is hard wired in so no worries about conflicts between devices running at the same time. Do not be afraid of this card. Get it. You will have no problems.

This product installed easily using Windows XP SP2 drivers. It worked well with USB devices that were previously problematic using the motherboard USB ports on an older Dell OptiPlex computer. Before installing this PCI card, a new laser printer attached to any motherboard port disabled the remaining USB ports for use with USB 2.0 devices. My only criticism of this card is the price. Many such PCI cards are available for 1/3 the price, but the Belkin card had a good record of device compatibility.

I ordered and received this product, and found it to be sligtly different than advertised. The card I got was an Addonics Model ADUSB2PCI, but it had 3 external and 2 internal USB ports, instead of the 4/1 on the product page.
I'm somewhat annoyed, since the internal ports are much less useful to me, so I'm loosing a whole port.

I agree 100% with the last reviewer. The product will install and show up in your systems manager, but will not interface with anything. I tried my printer, a camera, 2 nights messing with it, looking for updates even called their support line, same thing as the last reviewer, "Wait for the next representative". Yeah theyre probably all working out in the shipping area, getting returns. Waste of money and time. Nothing works with it. Dont waste yours.
Update to my earlier post. Just today I sent the product back and bought the Belkin 3 Port, 2 external, 1 internal USB. Its available from Amazon, seller is Office Depot. Awesome, very precise and easy to follow instructions. Installed the drivers, plugged in the card and BOOM I was in business. Best $29.00 Ive spent on a USB card. Taught me a valuable lesson. Buying cheap, always ends up being expensive. Its totally compatible and tested to work on Windows98 98se Me, Macs and XP.

Don't not buy this pci card. I bought it recently and not only is it not working but it screwed up my whole computer. To see if it was my computer's problem, I installed the Card on another PC and that PC crashed. I wouldn't recommend especially if you are using Microsoft Windows. This product did NOT get the Microsoft Logo check(This is like a recommendation check from microsoft, if it did not get a check then you are probably going to have problems with it). I found out this info later by going to Microsoft.com website. I tried to reach customer service of Micro Innovation, and all I hear is "please wait for the next available customer representative". I waited 30 minutes on the phone but no answer. It is a total waste of money and time.

easy to istall, low price.......2008-01-01
Anyone who has changed or installed a card knows how easy it is and this is no exception. It took a few minutes and a disk check before my computer recognized the card. I had some problems after installing this card but in fairness it may not be the cards fault. Sometimes my mouse wouldn't work until I unplugged and replugged usb or power cords or rebooted. The problem turned out to be the connection between the card and the card slot. The slot had never been used and there is 6 years worth of dust in there. After reseating the card I haven't had any problems.

Got an older PC tower and cool gadgets that won't play nicely together? Then get this card!
The Iogear 5 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 PCI Card is the smartest way to get an older PC (like my 2002 Dell Dimension 8200) updated so it can connect with todays peripherals and electronics. When connecting my digital camera or printer to my original 1.1 USB ports I was constantly prompted with an annoying popup prompt that read, "your device will operate faster with a highspeed USB port." I was able to ignore the messages until my son asked for an IPOD for Christmas. I wanted to be able to sync and charge the Ipod with my computer, which requires a 2.0 USB Port. The Iogear card was an inexpensive high quaility fix. All you need is a blank slot in your computer into which the Iogear card fits. My Dell recognized it upon startup and what do you know? No more pesky prompts. And better still, my printer begins immediately after I click, and my pictures download in seconds instead of minutes.
A word of caution, though. Be sure you have a tower. I considered one for my other PC (the horizontal Optiplex GX 150) and it won't fit.
