Belkin Wireless works great.......2007-12-15
This wireless card works real fine, the only drawback is that it is set to always connect at start-up, and it does not offer an option to connect only when requested or initiated.
Avoid this product.......2007-08-28
I've had this product for several months and it has given me a lot of trouble. I'm finally going to uninstall it and throw it in the trash and go get a different brand of wireless card.
- Signal strength varied from good to low to disconnected even when my laptop sitting 2 feet away had excellent signal strength
- Technical support is lousy. Nice guys, but completely unable to do anything but connect you to the returns department.
Extremely Unreliable.......2007-06-28
I've had this card for about 6 months now and have had nothing but trouble. The card installed fine, drivers work, but the quality of my connection is terrible. I should actually say the reliability is terrible. I get 5 bars quality from the windows wireless configuration tool, but the connection disconnects randomly. Some days are better than others, where I remain connected to my BELKIN router and I just get ping timeouts every few minutes. This makes it very hard to play most games like normal people. I am always at a disadvantage. I've tried using the Belkin tool to connect, while disabling the windows configurator with no success. My laptop with a Broadcom adapter gets flawless wireless access with the router as well as another desktop on my network that uses a netgear adapter. The bottom line is, if you use your computer for anything other than checking your email, get a card that actually works.
Worked the first time.......2007-04-04
Being new to wireless technology, I was unsure of what brand to go with. I read lots of reviews, both positive and negative and ended up settling on the Belkin wireless G router and card. Both worked flawlessly the first time with my Mac (hardwired to the router), PC (wireless), and even the PS3 (wireless). Needless to say I am satisfied with my purchase and the price is hard to beat.Belkin Wireless G Router DSL/ Cable gateway
Remember the look is a black aerial and it works like any other.......2007-03-02
You could in theory spend twice the price of this for another WNC that does exactly the same thing and works exactly the same way. Why? ... because they are built by the same labor forces and the same material and the same production methods. The days of `brand name equals higher quality' has long since been terminated. Just look at the market since 2000. It has all changed. As long as you go with the top companies and distributors you are going to be getting stuff that is practically the same especially when it comes to hardware like this. If you want a router with a `look' or a modem with a look then obviously that plays a big part in what you want. However when it comes to WNC's you are talking about a black aerial sticking out of the back of the PC. There isn't much of a look there. In fact you can't tell the difference until you see the software that controls it. In this case the software is the same stuff everywhere. Detect wireless internet connections and connect to them. It's the same stuff and this works fine and dandy without error. Great. Cheap. Works. What more could you want for a black aerial sticking out of your PC?
It works with all wireless routers I have detected with it. It is cheaper and does the same thing as all the rest. Get it.
Note: This is version 6 or above. The version 4 models and above have WPA2 security. Be aware that older models in the shop might not have WPA2 and only WPA so check the specs before you buy. This version was WPA2.

Good Reliable Wireless G PCI Card:N/w conflict with 10/100.......2005-05-27
I have a pre-historic machine (PII-400Mhz) that i wanted to use as a file backup (What else?) and wanted a reliable USB or PCI wireless connectivity coz dragging a wire was out of question. Anyways, I bought this for dirt cheap (Sub $10 AR) and tried installing it. Thought it was a pain. the software crashed, etc. Then I figured that I had a D-Link Ethernet 10/100 card and probably they were fighting for survival. Yeah, I was right. I chucked the oldie-goldie out and put this one in place. It immediately found new hardware, had to select the driver from the list and after that it was smooth sailing. The card may not clash with newer PCs but for older ones, if you have this problem, chuck your ethernet card or contact Belkin.
I've had this card active for about a month now continuously and its working great. My router is Belkin's 802.11g and its great too. And reliable. I'd recommend this card if you don't want ultra highspeed or cannot afford it at this moment (the latter being true).

This card sucks........2007-08-02
It worked fine for about a month and started dropping the connection constantly. Sometimes it would drop so often that the software would say, "Connection to the internet was going smoothly" but my page wasn't refreshing. Then it would drop and reconnect. I guess it finally didn't believe itself. I've updated drivers which helped nothing. I wont even bother with their tech support since they'll just tell me to use the latest driver and reboot my PC. A reviewer said that there was a defect in these cards but no recall has been issued as far as I understand. I guess they expect customers to just chuck the POS instead of trying to get a new one. Oh, during this review my connection has dropped a total of 5 times. ZERO STARS if possible.
Card was defective, but real problem is Belkin. Stay away!.......2007-02-18
I got the wireless card for my PC and installed it with minor difficulty. It worked just "OK" for 8 months or so. Within that time period I had to troubleshoot with Belkin technical support about 4 times. They were nice, maybe a bit condescending. The fact is that I do not have a second job maintaining my computer and I expect the support to be supportive without making me feel like a dummy. But, those are minor annoyances at best.
Anyway, after the 8 months or so my computer unexpectedly froze and I could not get on my network, yet the wireless networks of my neighbors COULD be found. Huh? I called Belkin and (to their credit) they did not pretend to not know what the problem was. With little hesitation they said the card was defective. I was transferred three times and told they would replace it at no cost. While at this point I did not want any more Belkin products, since they were replacing it at no cost to me...what did I have to lose?
OK, they asked for a credit card number so that if I didn't return my defective card in 20 days they would charge my card $43 and change. That seemed fair. We did this arrangement on a Wednesday afternoon. However, less than two hours later I was looking at my records and saw they already charged me for the card! I called back and said I did not understand...Blekin told me one thing and did another...major pet peeve of mine! I asked them to stop the order and just credit my card. No one asked me WHY, but I didn't care anymore. Just credit me. I was placed on hold while they "undid" the order placed two hours earlier. Grrrrrr.
The customer service person said that he undid the order, but they would have to call me back this afternoon to confirm my cancellation...ISN'T THAT WHAT WE WERE DOING NOW???? Guess who didn't get a call?
I received an e-mail the next day about how to return my defective card after I receive the new one. I e-mailed back that I had cancelled and did and just wanted my credit. No one responded. I e-mailed again on Saturday. No word again.
On Monday I got an e-mail saying that the card already shipped and that there was nothing they could do! I tried to reach this particular customer service person and ...gasp...she was not at her desk! I sent her an e-mail telling her the entire situation and that I would not buy Belkin EVER again.
Never heard back on that. By the way, I was frustrated but not venting in my e-mail. I had legitimate gripes!
I received the card but left it in the box...went and added my defective card and copies of my previous e-mails and mailed it to Belkin...they rec'd it two weeks ago and have yet to credit me. I called cust service a few days ago and gave them my return authorization number, my case number, and the tracking number to prove the cards were rec'd by Belkin. The cust service person even complimented me on my having all the info. AUGH! He said he would send my request to be credited to the return dept and since I had all the info I should see a credit in a couple of days.
No such luck. This isn't about $43. This is about a company that promises one thing and then hangs up the phone and does another. I still have the router, but will be donating that soon. I *did* ask for a company credit in lieu of the card, and that would have been fine, but then it is not transferrable and I am not planning on going anywhere near Belkin products again. I had hoped to donate the credit with the router and maybe someone in need would have better luck.
Forget about it. STAY AWAY. I so wish I had spent a few bucks more for a better company and product. If I could give Belkin zero stars, I would.
You've got to be kidding!!!.......2007-02-07
I bought this wireless card for my kids computer. It set up fine and worked for a whole year with minor problems. Now, it will only connect to unsecured networks! What changed??? Nothing! It stopped working one day and no matter what I do, it will not connect up to our WEP network. The funny thing is I have a Belkin Pre-N router (which hasn't changed).
I thought calling Belkin's tech support would help. I kind of wonder if they even train their tech support people (I had to explain DHCP to them and still they didn't understand)? In the end, they were no help. I even had to go in and clean up all the little tweaks that they requested me to do.
So, I now done what any person would do, presented with this situation... Sold the card on ebay and bought another card from a reputable company. The two stars were for the year of service I received. Definitely, not worth the headaches!
