Best rechargeable AA batteries I've ever used.......2007-12-26

I've been using rechargeable AA batteries for camera and flash use since the 1970s. Yikes, I feel old :). We have had two sets of these for a year now and they are far and away the best I've ever tried. The low self-discharge rate makes them useful in ways that traditional NiCad and NiMH batteries aren't. Traditional rechargeables are useless in applications where they might sit for a time then be put to heavy use.

I haven't done the detailed analytic testing of some other reviewers, but after a full year of regular use I can say that these are everything you want in a battery. Powerful, long lasting, easy to recharge and never the source of frustration or disappointment!

Have used rechargeable batteries for over 30 years. These are the best I have ever used. Old NiCd batteries don't have the capacity and have memory effect. New high capacity metal hydride require charging just before use as they self discharge so quickly - allways dead when I go to use digital camera or radio. These can sit unused for months and still have almost a full charge. Store FRS radios in truck and they are still useable for 8 hours after sitting for almost a year!! I currently own 40 AA and 30 AAA. Highly recommedned

I purchased these batteries to use in my new Canon Powershot S5 IS digital camera. It sure is nice to purchase pre-charged batteries! I have been taking a lot of pictures and the batteries still are going strong! My friends are always putting new batteries in their cameras, while I am still taking pictures! I have been recommending them to everyone! I keep referring everyone to the Eneloop web site, so they can read about how they work and how long they last compared to regular batteries. I have also purchased some more of them for other digital products that we own. We are definitely very happy with them! I would recommend them for all of your electronic products! Simply the best batteries on the market today. Rechargeables which come charged, have the shelf life of alkalines, and yet give more uses than the best alkalines, and can be charged 1000 times? What's not to like?? Forget throw aways, forget the other brands of rechargeables, these are the ones to get, and the charger is a "smart" charger so it knows how to charge properly for optimal battery life.

Batteries great, charger broke in Europe.......2007-11-16

The batteries really do hold their power for a long time, and rarely need recharging. My camera has signifcant zoom and video capabilities, and that can drain them a little more quickly (especially the video).

The charger did not work in Europe in my converter, although my cellphone & laptop had no problems. I bought a European charger, and the batteries took that charge just fine. Now back in the US, the original charger doesnt work at all. It had worked fine in the US before the trip.

When I bought this, I thought it came with an adapter or was "universal". It did not, and it is not. So if you travel outside the US, be prepared to get another charger.

Not your normal, crummy NiMH battery.......2007-11-17

I replaced the batteries in my engineering model calculator with three AAA eneloops several weeks ago. The batteries have kept going and going compared with regular NiMH AAA's which are not suitable for long term low drain devices like this because they won't keep going and going. They disapate far too quickly. You would have to recharge them so often it would make you crazy.

I also like the idea I can keep several sets of eneloops charged up and ready for use in my camera, a high drain device, for which a regular NiMH might be useful. Problem is I don't take all my photos within a day or two and regular NiMH's disipate. Once again, I have to recharge. Not so with eneloops. For me these batteries are the greatest.

2700 mAH's (or more in the future) of energy storage capacity for the highest regular NiMH's does not trump eneloops 2100 mAH for me if most of the 2700 mAH's disipates within days of its having been charged. TV remote controls, calculators, shavers and all sorts of uses where alkalines were more appropriate eneloops (or other hybrid NiMH batteries) can now be used. Good job!

I received them this week and was surprised at the date on them and more so that when I put them in my remote they worked perfectly without recharging them. I think the advertising is true. I'll add an addendum if I find they do not last long or there is some other issue. As for now, I'm impressed.

Best Rechargeable Battery.......2007-03-28

After switching digital camera from Canon A75 to A540, I discovered the battery life is extremly short on the A540. At first I thought it's because Canon A540 uses 2-AA instead of A75 with 4-AA batteries, then one time, after taking ZERO pictures and freshly recharged NiMH sitting in the camera for only one day, the "low battery" indicator came on. This happened to both Energizer NiMH 2300mAh battery and Sony NiMH 2600mAh. So I begin to Google the problem and discovered it has something to do with rechargeable battery's drop-off voltage characteristic and how Canon's camera interpret this as low battery indicator.

Hence comes the Eneloop. These batteries' voltage doesn't drop and they discharge very very slowly. I have used the Eneloop for over two months now and glad to say it finally solve the problem of my Canon A540. A set of freshly charged Eneloop can last for weeks and 300+ pictures and counting. Plus the charger is 110v to 220v capable, so my trip to Asia/Europe won't require a different charger. This is an awesome product and I will buy more of it!

Simple little charger that gets the job done - eventually.......2007-02-10

This compact charger is best suited for traveling, because it is tiny (measures only 3"x3"x1"), very light (weights about the same as two AA cells), and accept universal input voltage (100-240V AC). It is also a "smart" charger in the sense that it charges each cell individually, and stops whenever each cell is full.

The main drawback of this charger is that it is rather slow. The charging current is 550mA for AA , and 380mA for AAA. That means it takes about four hours to charge up a pair of 2000mA eneloop cells. What if you need to charge up a set of four 2700mAh cells? That will take close to 12 hours! So you really should keep another faster charger for home use. Just remember that the eneloop cells do NOT require special chargers. Any good quality "smart" NiMH charger will do the job.

The reverse is also true - You can use this eneloop charger to charge other brands' AA or AAA NiMH cells. I keep one in my office just to charge up batteries for my MP3 players, headphones, wireless mouse, etc.

This is such a great battery! These are the only rechargeable batteries that I know of that work right out of the package. I have had other rechargeables and they had to be charged before using. Plus, they last MUCH longer than the other ones. My MP3 Player has fallen in love with these batteries!

AVOID "Eneloop" - buy these instead.......2007-11-04

The 2700 mAh sanyo / GE battery comes in different colored cells (some white/orange some silver/green but the same battery). In all my testing the 2700 GE/Sanyo has been by far the best NiMH AA.

The eneloop scheme means the batteries come "pre-charged" but only hold 2000 mAh, or about 75% of these. You pay every time you use them for that convenience of having it charged when you get it. That's a Win once, loose a thousand times in a row scenario. You can't even get those odds in Vegas.

The 2700 has consistently been a top performer, exceeding MAHA's offering at 2700 (which comes out 2500 on their own tester). In real use, products that would run for 1 day on "normal" 1850 mAh cells or NiCd cells run almost 2 days on the 2700 sanyo's.

Trying to find these has been difficult. I bought some 2 weeks ago and now they are "unavailable" - HELLO AMAZON - RESTOCK THESE - Christmas is comming and we need them!

Finally - these offer tremendous current capacity so your cameras and flashes will charge and operate faster.

Having tested over 2 dozen brands and sizes of batteries, these came to the top of the pack quick. At 12.99, their price to performance number was excellent too. You can pay more, but you can't find a better performing cell.

I have used these batteries for about a month now and I have to say that I am satisfied with their performance. I have a Canon S2 which uses for AA batteries and can be quite resource hungry with me shooting 300 pictures a weekend. So far their recharge time has been good as well. It remains to be seen how well they hold up in the long run.

These batteries can run for a long time on high drain devices. I use them in my mp'3 player and digital camera regularly and I can usually expect about a days worth of on and off usage. I previously had the Sanyo 2500 mAh and were impressed by their charge time and the amount of usage time that i got out of them. However with a big trip coming i decided i needed some more power to carry around with me so i opted out for these. Fast charge time using Sanyo's Super Quick Charger. I highly recommend this battery. If you buy these you know that you'll be getting a quality and reliable battery.

Product works flawlessly. I bought 12 and am now buying 12 more.
I have had no trouble with overheating. Older rechargeable batteries (especially AAAs) were duds. With 1000 mAhs, these AAA batteries are almost as strong as disposables.

I use this charger: Maha PowerEx MH-C808M Ultimate Professional Charger - Battery charger, which I HIGHLY recommend. Again, no overheating problems.

GE/SANYO NiMH Rechargeable Batteries.......2006-12-10

These are very good batteries. I charged those in my La Crosse BC-900 Charger. The following were the results after first charge.

The four AAAs rated 1000mAh nominal (min 930mAh), all come out above 1000mAh, but very close to 1000mAh. I used the discharge setting of 100mA and charge at 200mA. (Those who use the BC-900 will know what I am talking about).

The four AAs rated 2700mAh nominal (min 2500mAh) come out ranging 2.8Ah to 3.0Ah. I used the discharge setting of 250mA and charged at 500mA.

I just started to use these batteries and do not know long term reliability. So far I am very happy with them.

Overheated in my charger.......2006-11-23

I use a great charger (Lacrosse BC-900) and I've never had problems with the energizer batteries that I use.

I bought two packs of these GE/Sanyo AAA batteries and put them through a couple of discharge/charge cycles to get them up to their full potential. One set of batteries overheated in the charger and was destroyed. Not sure what happened to the charger.

Of course, this *could* be due to the charger but I've never had it happen before.

Apple? Don't be misled........2006-12-10

I needed a new battery for my Powerbook. I found a non-Apple one for 66 dls here on Amazon and this one: "APPLE M9572G/A Lithium Ion Battery for 12 inch PowerBook" with a big link to "other products by Apple". Well, it looks like a real Apple battery, so I got the real Apple battery even though it cost 50% more.

I was surprised to open my package when it arrived and see a "TruePower Premium Powerbook Battery".

I haven't even opened the box yet. Because I need the damn battery now, I'm probably going to keep it, but I can't help it but feel ripped off. I think the whole thing is quite dishonest. Hopefully it's a decent battery and it matches the look of my Powerbook.

I bought this through Amazon from AllMac. You've been warned.

Not in stock despite the description.......2007-11-16

Says it is in stock at Brilliantstore. Ordered it a week ago - a day after I ordered, got an e-mail saying it was back-ordered for 3-5 days. No problem. I called at the end of the 5th day - now it is back-ordered for weeks. Net is, I need a battery, and have wasted a week on something that is listed "in stock".

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode on rental cars - "you know how to take reservations - you just don't know how to hold them".
