Great.......2007-12-24
The ergonomics of this controller are phenomenal. Its pretty apparent how much effort they put into this controller to make it user friendly. Just makes you wonder what the 'next' generation of controllers will look like.
Wireless Controller for XBox 360.......2007-12-21
It's a Christmas gift for my grandson, so it hasn't been used yet, but I'm assuming it will work well. It looks like it has been well taken care of and in good working condition.

Awesome.......2007-12-31
Having owned other cameras mostly under the $200 range, i decided to treat myself to an upgrade. The pictures I take with this camera are magnificent. i just could not believe the detail in the photos. even in lowlight they were great. Basically, all you have to do is point and shoot
and the G9 does the rest. macro was superb. i cant say enough about this camera except that Canon hit a homerun with this one. It is by and large the finest camera i have ever owned. Takes pics like a pro.
Awesome.......2007-12-29
I got this camera as an always at hand when I don't have a D300, D2X, etc. My previous always at hand is the Nikon P 5000, which while good, is clearly outclassed by the G9 in shooting speed, ease of manual control. etc. I've had it just a week but it was so easy to adjust by sequential shooting while changing exposure to get the moon over the Blue Ridge just right at dawn. I do find the P 5000 just a bit easier to work through the menus on but that may just be because the G9 is new to me. The battery is way bigger on the G9 as well. Flash seems to have more power (i.e. depth) as well. The other stuff is well presented by others below and above.
Top of the Line Point and Shoot.......2007-12-28
Canon PowerShot G9 12.1MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom
I received this camera from my wife for Christmas, having done plenty of research beforehand. I was not the least bit dissapointed. The unit is exceptionally well built with an unbeliveable offering of options and modes. The first 2 shoots were a Christmas party and a birthday party totalling 76 pictures. The battery meter has yet to read anything but full and the picture quality is outstanding. I did use a 1G SD chip that is still offering 222 possible pictures. Good value for the money and lots of fun to use.
Terrific camera...so-so software.......2007-12-27
I'm a prosumer, which means I have enough knowledge to take good shots (my 5th digital camera and 3rd Canon) and use some editing software that, thank god, is not included with the camera nor made by Canon.
The camera and multiple setting abilities are wonderful. This is the point and click I should have had 4 years ago, with decent zoom, minimal barrel distortion on wide shots and enough detail to satisfy most creative projects. The image quality, at max res and minimal JPEG compression is similar to what I remember my ancient, first generation digital SLR was--a nice overall Histogram reading, terrific auto white balancing, and decent contrast control using the aperture and shutter settings.
This is a camera for someone who has at least a year's worth of good experience with a previous "prosumer" camera. It is not for little Johnny and his summer camp adventures--but I think given the price, you know that already. While you can certainly give it to a child, there are so many higher function settings and dials that a novice will easily get confused. This is the kind of camera best suited for outdoor shots and well lighted indoor shots; lousy for professional users who may complain about "noise" with low light levels, or the difficulty of getting RAW file format shots unless you use Canon's cheesy downloading software (the Photoshop plug-ins are out there for reading RAW format files, but it seems Canon has written them for Adobe Photoshop CS3, and I still use CS2). I managed to get spectacular night shots with very little JPEG compression noise by opening the aperture and using a tripod. Honestly, that's a big deal over my previous Canon A710.
Now for the bad part.
How difficult would it be for Canon corporate to hire a few more "non-English as a second language" tech writers to write their manuals in a grammatically correct, spell-checked manner? Their manuals are still a bit confusing, contain multiple spelling errors, and constantly refer to several other manuals for the most mundane of tasks. There are 1, 2, 3, 4...count them 4 booklets/manuals included in the box, one of which is totally in Spanish.
While I'm no dummy, Canon insists on dumbing down their software for downloading and using the computer to manually take shots. This camera has a gazillion features; Canon: please write software for prosumers/professionals. We want Photoshop-quality interfaces with defined functions, not ugly drugstore photo printing kiosk icons. This particular camera may be for high powered image taking, but the "CameraWindow" software is so simple 12 year-olds will find it easy to use. Canon's website, while far from the poor site design of 1999 when I first started using digital cameras, is still a babel of options to find even the simplest of information. The fact that Canon makes everything from cameras to medical imaging equipment and radio telescopes complicates easy browsing. Anyway...I digress.
Like I wrote, this is the camera Canon should have come out with 4 years ago. The features were there; just on different cameras for different reasons. It's nice to finally see all of the ones I need on one camera.
Better than the Sony H3? Could be! Lower zoom, but higher MP, +RAW support........2007-12-26
Well, you may or may not have read my review of the Sony Cybershot DSC-H3. I'm your average point-and-shoot-er... I'm not well versed in ISO, focal length, color depth, noise & color aberrations. I tend to point, shoot, and hope it comes out well.
That said, I've done a bit of reading over the last month after buying a Sony H3 and being moderately unsatisfied with its point & shoot results (noise & color aberrations).
However, having read so many reviews, I got a bit more info on things like ISO settings on digital cameras and links with noise, and color issues. So, I think that some of my prior issues with the H3 may have been "user-malfunction"-related. IE, "know thy camera, and they camera will love you."
Prior to the H3 I owned a Canon A70 (3MP), which I'd say was an excellent point & shoot camera that rarely disappointed me.
Anyway, partly due to my initial bad experiences with the Sony, partly due to its overly expensive memory cards, and partly because I really trust Canon (had prior bad experiences with a Sony P72, I think, as well?), I decided I wanted to upgrade to the 12MP + RAW of the Canon G9 (after reading lots of reviews of it versus some other models).
The things I like about the Canon G9 were several:
- Its portability (very similar to the Canon A70, and slightly better than Sony H3)
- Its heft. Believe it or not, I *like* the weighty feel of it.
- Its metal body. Again it feels sturdy (though I hope never to drop it and test just how sturdy it is).
- I like the fact that under normal lighting conditions you can point & shoot, and it seems to take extremely crisp images with very little noise (from an amateur's perspective), and the noise that I can see only seem to be noticeable if you zoom all the way in to view the actual pixels and such up close.
- I like the dial with direct access to ISO settings. Somehow that gives it a rather "professional" feel. Even if it's only a mental thing. It's still nice to have easy access to the setting rather than having to fiddle with menus, etc.
- I like the fact that despite having a slightly more complex button layout than the H3 (something I wasn't looking forward to), once you figure out what the buttons do, it's rather intuitive and the multitude of buttons doesn't really detract (for me) from the usage experience.
- I like the instant access to a white balance (I think?) adjustment button in the upper right of the back face, just above the back face jog dial you use to control it. That way you can instantly dial up or down the exposure a few levels. I find that could be handy for "mood lighting," and have already used it a few times to set the lighting a bit lower in a scene like candle light, etc. (where the camera tends to want to expose a bit more, but it would detract from the candle light).
- I like the fact that one can zoom in on images in playback mode to see if focus and such were correct, and if detail is sufficient, or if the shot needs to be taken again. I realize other cameras probably have this feature too. It's just nice.
- For me, startup time seems very quick. Hit the button, lens extends, picture shows up on the LCD, ready to start snapping away (unless you need to change modes or flip to a slightly different exposure setting; but that's not the camera's fault! You should have been ready beforehand!).
- Thus far I've not run down the first charge on the battery. Then again, I'm casual about images, turn the camera on for a few minutes, snap a few good photos, kill the bad ones, and turn it off. I've snapped a number of shots around the office to test it. I've snapped a few images around home in non-optimal light to figure out how to get the best quality image. I took pictures at our work Christmas party, and briefly took a couple pictures at my own family Christmas dinner. I've still got 2 out of 3 bars left on the battery.
- I like the fact that it uses a standard USB A-MiniB cable, unlike the proprietary Sony AV cable that came with the H3.
- Likewise, I like the fact that the Canon uses standard SD/SDCH cards that are cheaper than the Sony H3's Memory Stick Duo and Pro Duo cards.
I'm finding it hard to say much negative about it thus far. I'm still learning how to take the most crisp images with the camera. But I've got a book now with tips and tricks. Will have to start using my tripod more, it looks like, for the old "tack sharp" photos. But, under normal light, it seems to take pretty excellent images, even just point and shoot.
One complaint might be that the button in the upper left (the one that flashes when the camera wants to "shift gears" to a different ISO) is actually somewhat difficult to press / activate while holding down the shutter part way to maintain auto-focus. For me, I seem to have to either push it with a fingernail, or push REALLY hard with the edge of my thumb.
Oh, yes, and the fact that several lights blink constantly while the machine is downloading images is rather distracting (and I wonder if it wastes the battery; though I suspect they run off USB power); likewise the "fireworks"-like animated graphic in the middle of the LCD that also continues to play while downloading. Minor complaint. But I'm sure I'll learn to ignore it. Would be nice to find a way to turn off the blinky lights though, as they're a mild nuisance.
I'm pretty sure this will be my new "work horse" camera for the foreseeable future. I don't expect I'll have to upgrade any time soon (unless of course they come out with a camera that's a portable/pocketable, point & shoot, does full HD video, and lets you zoom while shooting video, and/or lets you use a wireless remote to take photos w/o camera shake). Unless such a lovely hybrid comes on the market any time soon w/o sacrificing any features (like RAW support), I don't foresee having to switch camera again.
To those who complain about some subtle cool blue tint to the LCD, I don't see it. Perhaps I'm not a "pro," so I don't notice these things. But, so what? Really... Is it designed to be a "professional" camera or a high end point & shoot? I think it's the latter, as intended.
If someone wants to USE it for a professional camera, by all means, be my guest! But if one EXPECTS a high end point & shoot to *be* a low-end DSLR, perhaps they're setting their expectations too high in general. If you want DSLR quality, get a DSLR. If you want a PORTABLE point & shoot with near-DSLR (but still point & shoot) quality, the G9 is admirable. My opinion only, of course. As a casual user who is thrilled that a PORTABLE / POCKETABLE point & shoot camera can achieve such high quality output while maintaining relative simplicity, depth of features, PROFESSIONAL LOOK & FEEL, etc.
Likewise, to a few people I've heard complaining that there's insufficient "grip" or that the zoom lever or button are too small: I've not had an issue with either. The zoom lever has been sufficient for me to use under a range of circumstances and camera angles. Likewise the grip isn't all that large, but it's large enough, and I've never had a slippage or inability to grip the camera. I generally hold with the index and middle finger up front on the grip and thumb in the space just left of the mute/microphone button. Seems to be ample space for me. ring and pinky fingers usually just rest at the bottom of or underneath the camera.
The small viewfinder is a neutral issue for me. I don't use the viewfinder, frankly. It doesn't display the entire image to be taken, and the LCD allows for a much wider number of shots to be taken, where you can't always have your eye pressed right up to the camera. Likewise, I'd hate to smudge the LCD. I'd probably not care much if the viewfinder was removed completely. I doubt I'd miss it, honestly.
----------
Addendum (12-26-07): I've added several shots to the "customer gallery." One is a night shot capturing a bare tree in the flash, with the moon back-lighting a portion of the branches. For being a newbie and using mostly automatic settings, I think it came out pretty well!
The other images are a set of 3 images of a Christmas decoration, progressively cropping to finer and finer detail. I find it rather amazing how closely one can crop this image and still retain excellent picture quality (right down to not-too-bad reflections off a tiny ornament in a large scene and the fine gold inlaid detail printed at the top of a decorative glass). As of this writing they put it somewhere int he middle of the gallery. Apparently they don't sort the gallery by upload date, which is odd.

Fast and very portable.......2007-12-31
Nice and small! Fast and doesn't need a separate plug and connection for power. Does both connection and power from the USB port. This brand is one of the top ones for external hard drives also from what I've read and hear from my techno geek friend. I only wish I had shopped around on price a bit more or waited a little longer, but such is technology. These are so hot these days it seems the price drops more every week.
Simple and Fast.......2007-12-30
I have had this 160 Mb drive for about a month now. I have used it without any hitches on three laptops, a 3 year old HP, a 4 year old Dell, and a current Apple Macbook. It is fast, simple to operate and I would recommend to to anybody looking for a backup drive. One good thing about this drive is that it is powered off the USB port so it has no power cable and bulky adaptor to plug in. The Macbook accesses the drive easily and can read any of the info copied off the PC's onto the drive and visa versa.
My only complaint is that I wish they had other colours instead of black!
Excelent but..........2007-12-29
There are basically 2 reasons why I didn't give this product 5-Stars:
1. The surface is very easily scratched; even as new, the product was already scratched.
2. The product came with a 10cm (4 inches or so) USB cable which is pretty much pathetic. I had to purchase a decent cable afterwards. (Which is like $2 at the most).
Otherwise, this is an excellent HDD for this price and if you don't care about those two points, I highly recommend it.
Good Product at great price!.......2007-12-27
After checking around, I found this to be a good product at a great price.
2 failed WD drives within 6 months........2007-12-23
DO NOT BUY -- I had two WD drives fail within 6 months. I'd give this zero stars if it were an option.
RUN from this company.

Customer Reviews:
Does what I needed.......2007-12-31
It has a good range (it's more than 10 feet from the Wii-which is in a cabinet) and works fine. Setup was zero effort. It has a timer that you can set to have it turn off by itself if you forget.
Just get it!.......2007-12-29
Hubby ran over the cord of our original wii sensor... researched these out... decided to try one... LOVE it. SO nice to be portable- does a really good job of not going through batteries- has a timer on it- beeps if it is going to go off and gives you PLENTY of time to put it on again- would never go back to the corded one- this IS the way to go!!
Big battery waster.......2007-12-27
The box said we could be back 8 feet and it would work. Actually, we had to be within 2 feet of it usually. It is just a big battery waster. Don't buy it. Buy a wired sensor bar if you need a replacement.
Works great! Alarm sucks!.......2007-12-21
Functionally, the sensor bar beats the wired one that comes with the Wii.
However, the "alarm" is shrill and awful. Here's an idea; if the sensor knows it hasn't been used in [time T], SHUT IT OFF, rather than beeping incessantly.
Better then the default.......2007-12-17
The range is much better then the one that comes with the system. I wish they would have added the ability to plug it into the system. I despise having to turn the thing on and off. I know there is a timer, but I'd hate to have the sensor time out in the middle of Metroid!

That's right, all of this in one small package for an incredibly reasonable price. All while delivering quality picture and audio performance. From the Manufacturer
192KHz sampling enables you to have an accurate representation of the original sound curves. Together with a 24-bit resolution, more information is captured from the original analogue sound wave form, giving a much richer audio reproduction.
Multi-format playability allows you to play most disc formats for maximum disc compatibility and listening pleasure.
12-bit Video DAC is a superior Digital-to-Analogue-Converter that preserves every detail of the authentic picture quality. It shows subtle shades and smoother graduation of colors, resulting in a more vibrant and natural picture. The limitation of the usual 10bit DAC become in particular apparent while using large screens and projectors.
The attractive enclosure has a very low profile.
DivX Ultra combines DivX playback with great features like integrated subtitles, multiple audio languages, multiple tracks and menus into one convenient file format.
Multi-format playability allows you to play most disc formats for maximum disc compatibility and viewing pleasure.
Picture CD is a CD-R or CD-RW disc on which you can store your MP3 and digital pictures. When inserting a Picture CD in the DVD player, a screen menu will pop up, showing your JPEG's and/or MP3 files on the disc. Just select the music and pictures files you wish to enjoy and press play or OK. You can watch your pictures on TV with your music playing simultaneously.
Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. A full image is created instantaneously, using the maximum resolution. At such a speed, your eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure.
Other standard features include:
- 192kHz/24-bit audio DAC delivers high-quality audio.
- 12-bit/ 108Mhz video DAC for sharp image with natural colors.
- Ultra-slim design.

Customer Reviews:
See review by H.A. Emet!.......2007-12-30
I took the advise and was very happy I did. I was just about to exchange my dvp5140 for the "region free" version, when I stumbled on said review. Consequently, I saved lots of time and money. So far, it seems to be working great, although I share another reviewers trepidation about Phillips products.
Cheap and Great!.......2007-12-29
I watch lots of movies and have owned quite a few DVD players. I've come to like Philips players... the main reason being their ability to play a wide range of formats.... a feature not found on many more expensive players from other makers. I usually don't find it necessary to reprogram my DVD player or TV in order to watch a new disc, and when I do, I don't mind using on-screen menus, since I appreciate the simplicity of the small Philips remotes which don't have a hundred tiny, hard-to find buttons. This is the third Philips DVD player I've owned, and the cheapest in cost, with the handiest remote, and the clearest picture.
I just got it, so of course I am hoping for long, trouble-free service... however, there are few guarantees of that no matter what you spend. Fortunately, it was so cheap (the price of two DVDs!) that I'm not worried much. Not worrying is the most security you're going to find.
Everyone's setup is going to be unique, and I am not striving for ultimate high-end performance. But, on my progressive scan (720p) rear-projection LCD HDTV, this unit delivers the best picture I've seen yet... the difference was instantly noticeable. I am very pleased.
Pros: Region-free capability, small, easy-to-use remote, fast load and start times, resume playback after stop, can play data discs on TV, excellent picture, almost ridiculously cheap.
Cons: Apparently, reading the manual is necessary, dag nab it! Failure to read the manual seems to be the cause of most negative reviews.... :o/
Recommendation: Buy it! Free Shipping! Wow! Happy New Year!
great dvd player.......2007-12-28
this model and the one listed for multi region are the same you just have to change the region.
DOES *NOT* PLAY PAL DVDs.......2007-12-28
Caution: if you are buying this machine to play PAL (European) DVDs, stop right here. It says right on the box it plays North American disks only. I matched the stock # and product # to the Web site to make sure Amazon shipped the machine I ordered - they had - so the description on this page must be for some other model. Be very careful before you buy this machine. It is *not* as described.
Get this ! It is fantastic !.......2007-12-28
Initially I was going to purchase the more expensive Philips model with "multiregion" phrase in its title but after reading Mr Emet's review I decided to get this. When I received it, I was a bit scared because the box clearly said "Region 1 only" ! But after following Mr Emet's instructions, I was able to set it up and play my beloved European DVDs in less than 5 minutes. This is really a great value ( $ 39 ??!! Still can't believe it ) and looks really great in my ultrachic minimalist apartment :) Very nice slick design. The picture and sound quality is very good too....and it played my home made DVD-Rs that did not play in my old (and more expensive)DVD player perfectly. If you are looking for a multiregion DVD player, this is the best value - don't miss it. I want to thank Mr Emet for his helpful instructions . Without them , there was no way I could do the PAL setup so quickly.. As far as I can tell, the magical code 138931 is not mentioned in the manual.

Upscaling DVD player.......2007-12-31
Fast delivery. This was a great buy and great price. I bought two, one for me and one for my parent in-laws. This player has a great picture and has performed flawlessly. It is matched to my Sony Brivia and takes advantage of Theater sync, one push play. Highly recommend if you are not ready to jump into the Blu-Ray HD-DVD war.
A great improvement.......2007-12-28
I have just purchased and hooked up the DVP-NS77H/B Upconvert DVD player. I am very impressed with the improvement on the appearance of my standard DVDs. I did not want to replace my entire library, and I am happy I found this useful DVD player to do the trick. I have paired with this a Sony 50 inch kdf50e2000 HDTV. Everything looks fine, and I have connected with a Monster HDMI cable. However, as improved as the color and sound is, I find the sharpness of some shapes, especially faces is not that improved. I am sure this can be fixed by going through settings but I have already done so. If anyone has any suggestions, I have an open ear. Maybe I am just too anal about my movie picture. Bottom line, DVD's look and sound better than any other DVD player I've owned and its very user friendly. I have seen other upconverts fail to do the same job as this Sony.
Much BETTER than expected!.......2007-12-27
Well, the day finally came. My old Pioneer dvd player officially is DOA. Seven years later, it is now time to replace. Did lots of searching around for something similar to what I had. Biggest must for me from what I already had was the optical audio out. This was the least expensive model I could find with this option. Regardless of it being able to upscale dvds using the HDMI cable, this is was what I was looking for. I have a large collection of children's dvds and my two year old LOVES to help me get them out of the case and put them in the player. With the pioneer, it read every little finger print and scratch. The SONY reads right over a lot of the problems... even before I clean the dvd. Overall, I am very satisfied with this player and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone looking for a replacement NON-BLU RAY player.
Plays like it should.......2007-12-25
I've only had it for one weekend, but I am happy with it, and have become familiar with all of the features. Learning curve on all of the setup options aren't too tough to figure out with the good printed manual.
I love the thin profile. It is only about 2" tall. Looks sharp and doesn't take up too much space in my crowded audio pier.
It does what it was made to do: it plays DVDs well. Picture is sharp on my 106" projection screen. As good or better than other players I've owned. Color is good and image is sharp and bright. Like other reviews have stated, it is a bit slow to load.
It is nice to have the option to use HDMI, especially since the player will output the 5.1 digital signal through the HDMI cable along with the video signal. Fewer wires are always good. Buy a cheap HDMI cable at amazon along with the unit rather than going to a store. HDMI cables are very overpriced at most brick and mortar stores (a decent cable should not be over ~$15). HDMI is full digital, not analog, so a signal is a signal. Monster cables don't matter with digital signals.
The player comes with the useless triple RCA yellow-red-white composite cable that is good only for very poor quality video. You will need to buy a good quality component cable or an HDMI cable.
I can't speak to the up-scaling because I'm using it with my 480p theatre projector. I didn't try it with my HD monitor. Honestly I can't imagine why it would be any better than letting the monitor/television upscale it for you. HD monitors upscale 480p signals fine.
The one thing I don't like is the same thing I don't like about every player I've ever owned. When DVDs end they return to the menu and repeat forever, while the motor continues to spin the disc. You only have to turn off the monitor and amplifier to make the mistake of allowing the thing to run for hours/days looping the menu over and over. Why manufacturers can't make machines that will shut down after a few repeats of the menu is beyond me (or allow the menu to exist in a small RAM chip where it doesn't have to spin the disc infinitely). This is how my last two players died. Make sure it is really off or it will die in no time.
A good player. Not a great value at $90, but not terrible. You can get a nearly identical Sony player without HDMI for $20-$30 less. Decide whether HDMI connectivity is worth $25 before you go with this one.
Good for now.......2007-12-24
This DVD player is a good value and has the HDMI jack which goes well with my Sony Bravia. I will wait to see who wins the DVD HD format (Blue Ray or HD/DVD) & then upgrade.

The Zune is a 30 GB digital media player, but there's a twist. You can wirelessly share selected full-length sample tracks, playlists, pictures, or your own home-grown tunes directly from Zune to Zune (within 30 feet). You can listen to the full-length songs that you receive up to three times in three days, flag the ones you love, and easily buy them the next time you sync up--its like test-driving songs before you purchase an album.
The Zune's navigation is simple and intuitive with a scroll wheel and basic buttons, and the big, bright screen makes it easy to browse music and show off your favorite pictures and videos. This attractive, smart device stores up to 7,500 songs, 25,000 pictures, or 100 hours of video. Get creative. Make playlists on the go and watch slide shows while you're listening. And if you're watching video on the Zune, you'll be pleased with the landscape mode that allows you to get the most out of the vivid display.
Zune-to-Zune Sharing
Don't forget the primary principle of the Zune: sharing. With this device in hand you're holding an opportunity to share music and photos wirelessly from one Zune to another. Send your favorite tracks or images to your friends, or just about anyone with a Zune that's within your reach.
Whether you're walking down the street, in a room with a bunch of friends, at a concert, at the airport, or on the bus, you can whip out your Zune and see all the other Zune devices that surround you. In the blink of an eye you're connected to your best friend and you can send over your band's newest song. Another friend might get the hilarious podcast your little brother made at school, plus that hot new song you just downloaded from the Zune Marketplace. And, of course, there's all the good stuff that your friends want to send back your way. The connections are made and the Zune community grows.
Best of all, the song you sent (or received) isn't a short 30-second preview--it's the whole song. Your friend can sample the song up to three times in three days, flag it on their device and then buy it from the Zune Marketplace. You can send pictures, too. If you loved the photo of your dog at the park and you just have to share it with your buddies, shoot it off to whoever is around. And any pictures that are sent or received can be kept and viewed indefinitely.
Sometimes you don't want to be noticed, and the Zune allows you to fly under the radar. All you need to do is turn the wireless function off, or adjust the privacy settings to control whether people can see you are online. And if you want to keep your Zune private while studying in the library or reading the newspaper on the bus, you can also block Zune devices in wireless range from sending you a song.
Zune Marketplace
Zune makes it easy to find music you love--whether it's songs in your existing library or new music from the Zune Marketplace. You can easily import your existing music, pictures, and videos in many popular formats from your PC and browse millions of songs at the Zune Marketplace where you can purchase individual tracks or buy a Zune Pass subscription to download as many songs as you want for a flat fee. Plus, you can apply Microsoft Points towards the purchase of music so you can buy online without a credit card for added security. At the Zune Marketplace you can read over 100,000 artist biographies and features from leading magazines including XLR8R, NME, and FADED, and you'll have easy access to Billboard Charts, including Billboard 200, Hot 100 Songs, and more. You'll even be able to browse what people in the Zune community are listening to by checking out the Zune Charts.
Pre-Loaded Content

With that in mind, the Zune comes pre-loaded with a variety of songs and videos from hot, new artists, as well as some fun films and images. With something for everyone, the pre-loaded Zune content may help you discover your new favorite band, but at the very least you'll have some entertainment at your fingertips so you can start connecting and sharing. Zune family.......2008-01-01
Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player (Brown)
I bought a 30G Zune a year ago and loved the way I could have my music, pictures and videos with me always. I am a mother of 4 and a grandma of eight so I have LOTS of pics and flicks. I have about 1900 songs,40 videos, and 212 pictures on my Zune right now with 14G to go.
Two other family members bought Zunes through the year and it made it so nice to wirelessly share pictures with each other that I bought three more this Christmas as gifts for my husband, son, and sister.
We are now a 6 Zune family and growing. We all love them and plan on buying more as the grandkids get older.
Microsoft Zune 30GB.......2008-01-01
I just got a brand new Microsoft Zune for Christmas. Only got to use it about 3 times before it stopped working. My wife also bought me all kinds of accessories to go with it. So, we have a lot of money invested in it. Apparently, there is a flaw in how the carrying case is made, and it makes it seem like you need to insert the power adapter into to port upside down. The port is not made in a shape that rejects the incorrect plug in, so the result is bent prongs on the port. Microsoft will not replace. I am out about $300.
Zune Media Player.......2007-12-31
Bought to replace a stolen ipod. If you're more familar with microsoft, you'll like this unit more than apple/ipods. (Plus it's several dollars cheaper)
Works well, better than a Video Ipod.......2007-12-31
I already have a 30GB apple Ipod when I received this as a gift and I am pleasently surprised at how well it works. The only advantage which the Ipod has is that it is physically smaller (although not lighter), but the user interface of the zune is significantly better with the large font much easier to read. The use of the more normal (i.e. not clickwheel) controls giving better control than the Ipod. I say this after having use an Ipod for almost four years and the zune for about 4 days. I was surprised that microsoft paid as much attention as it did when you switch between different menus. The transitions are done well, and the structure is intuitive. I had no problems in loading up the zune software with vista home premium and found it to be just as useable and easy to use as itunes with an ipod (which I run on a seperate mac.) I am not sure what the problems other people have seen as none existed when I ran and synched my zune for the first time. I am now quite happy to give my old Ipod to my wife and use a better product.
Vista users beware! Software update does NOT work well.......2007-12-31
Without typing up a long statement, I bought it for a christmas present this year. I was going to pre-load it with media, but I was never allowed to. Why? First, the sync cable refused to operate properly. A call to Zune's customer support line "fixed" this. They were more than willing to send out a new sync cable...which after 12 business days, still has not arrived.
So I run out and find an original zune sync cable in a store. Zune would pick up a charge, but still wouldn't sync up. So, I call customer support back and basically get the troubleshooting steps in the box.
I go to their support page, scour the message boards for solutions (seemed as if every 3rd post was a problem like mine). Nothing works. Now, luckily, I am very familiar with computers, so going into the device manager isn't nothing new. But, it had me thinking...what about a dad who just knows how to turn on and off a computer? Why is this process difficult for someone like him?
Long story short, there is a vista conflict that makes it so zunes would not properly sync up. It maybe has been fixed since my purchase of a few weeks ago, but I wouldn't assume the best.
Worst customer service experience though. I would have rated this one star, but I do like the design. Haha.

Does the job.......2008-01-01
Purchased for grade school children who have no problem using them. Compatible and easy to upload music etc. from Windows Media Player.
Only problem is that the supplied instruction booklet could have given a bit more information on how to use all of the features. However, the complete manual is available online - all 37 pages of it.
Awesome little MP3 player.......2007-12-31
We bought two of these for our kids (ages 10 & 13) for Christmas. They are awesome!! They sound great! My husband and I now would both like one. It comes with software to use but you don't have to. You can just open up a window and drag & drop the music. For those of us that don't have millions of GB of music, these are great!
Good.......2007-12-31
This is the best mp3 player I've had to date (most which have only lasted for a few months). I've had this mp3 player for about 2 years and I've never had a problem with it. I've dropped it on concrete a few times and it is still up and running. Transferring music is a breeze, just drag and drop. The sound quality is good. It's small and lightweight. The only annoying thing is that I have to constantly buy batteries for it (AAA) and everytime I try to put my playlist in order on my computer, it reverts back to the order the sandisk had it in (therefore none of my songs are in the order I want them in). I would definitely recommend it, especially for the price.
this is a great mp3.......2007-12-30
My 15 year old daughter got this for Christmas. She was very pleased with it's features. Believe me, it's hard to please a 15 year old!
the perfect gift...........2007-12-29
"Santa" left this for our 8 year old. She really wanted and IPOD, but we felt that was a bit much at her age. This is super easy to use, light weight, and even has an FM tuner in it. It is ideal for what our daughter had wanted, a way to listen to her music whenever she wanted, and to be able to take it with her. For the price it fit the bill.
