Wow amazing headphones.......2007-12-24
I was a little scared to buy these headphones after reading poor reviews I bought these anyway and they blow my stock ipod ear phones away. I barely have to turn the volume up to get great sound. I might be ordering two more of these one for my brother and an extra for me. Yes the cord can be annoying and makes no sense why sony made one cord longer than the other,but who cares when you get comfortable fit and nice sound. If it wasn't for the cord design these would get 5 stars. These are my first set of in the ear headphones.

I love the sound quality and I used them every day at work for 11-12 hrs this summer - very comfortable. I personally like the long length of the cord when walking around campus, easy to put my mp3 player in my purse or in my coat. Granted I dont know why you would ever need such a short cord.. so the extension is necessary. The silver piece that goes over where the wires connect broke for me.. it doesn't stay in place. If I'm not careful with them I have bare wires showing where they connect - this happened after about two years of heavy use. Over all I'm pretty happy with these headphones.

Sound okay. Assymetrical cord is ridiculous unless you like all the weight on one ear. Cord material is some garbage rubber that tangles up on itself much easier than anything I've used. Rubber disintegrates very quickly from normal perspiration. They're junk, period.

Bought these a few weeks ago... they work great. They are comfortable in your ear. It blocks out a lot of the background noise so you can actually hear the music without having to turn the volume up! The earphones come with one side longer than the other. This is because the longer side is supposed to go BEHIND your neck. It also comes with an extension. Without the extension, it's too short for normal use. However, if you have an ipod shuffle or an armband for your ipod, then it's perfect length. Otherwise, you'll have to use the extension. The sound quality is great! I love these earphones

These earphones provide good sound, but are not the right size for my ears. I bought them because the ipod earbuds don't stay in my ears. These headphones tend to slip off my ears when I move my head. When jogging, I wear a headband over my ears and they are perfectly secure. Good quality for the price.

Darn Glasses!!.......2007-11-11
Here's the thing I have a huge head but my ear holes are for some reason tiny so ear buds just don't work. I decided to try these things out and for many reasons these are simply great, but there is one fault that for me dropped them down one star.
These don't work too well with glasses. Because of the over the ear style if you wear glasses one or the other is not going to set right. Either you have the glasses over the headphones and have them sit lopsided on your face, or you have the headphones over the glasses and and lose sound because they can't set in your ears properly. (If only I could wear contacts).
Anyhow for me they are ok but they really are great headphones just as long as you don't have the issues I have.

Since I'm in a college, I'm very tight on my budget and didn't want to spend more than $30 on the headphone. I've tried many types of headphone/earphones around that price range and I can say this one is my absolute favorite among the ones I've tried.
It is affordable and VERY comfortable. You don't get any pain you would get if you use the earbud type earphone. And if you own an iPod and you are suffering from the pain from the earbuds that came along, I recommand this earphone for everyone. I'd give 6 stars if it is available, seriously. :)

What a sad excuse!.......2005-12-20
I have an old sony "Sports" headset radio -- Model SRF-M59. I have used it and loved it for years, but it's fallingn apart. When Sony came out with this one, I was happy to order it, thinking it would be as good as my old one. It is not. We have a strong local FM station and I can't even get it much of the time. I'm back to using my old one -- and buying duct tape.

I'm a construction worker and I wear these around my jobsites. I like them because I can still wear a hat, and there's no antenna sticking up. They put up with abuse well, cloth ear covers wear out very quickly. The digital tuner, with presets, is really necessary for station changes. I can't be standing around fiddling with my tuner all day.
I agree with the reception complaints, and I don't need weather or TV (although Sesame Street in audio only is amuzing). After all day my earlobes are definately sore, but I think that cannot be avoided if the radio is going to hang off of them.
All-in-all this is the only headset I'll use. The orientation and the station pre-sets set it completely apart from all others I've seen.

I expected more from Sony!
In a nutshell:
Reception is so so - my Work Tunes are much better.
Poor and Odd ergonomics - if you have a big bean (or big hair) these really will not fit you.
I bought these for my wife to garden with and by the end of the second weekend she had given up using them. I ended up buying a second pair of Work Tunes for us to use around the house.
Great Headphones for Sporting Events.......2005-01-12
I needed a new set of headphones to take to sporting events, primarily football games. I got a good deal on a refurbished set of these headphones and I think they are great.
Great reception inside the RCA Dome. I normally just listen to the local radio broadcasts of the game, but if I want to hear what the TV analysts think of a certain play, I can hit a couple of buttons and listen to the TV broadcast.
I wore these headphones pretty much the whole game last week and they were very comfortable. I have also listened to music on them and they sound pretty good.
I've read the other reviews and I can't speak to how these will perform when excerising. I'm sure there are better sounding headphones but these are better than any I've ever owned. I think they are perfect for sporting events because you have AM, FM, TV, and you can check the weather.

Not worth the price!.......2007-07-27
I just recently brought the Sony MDR-KE30LW and received them today. The product is horrible. It is filmsy like it is made out of some cheap plastic.
The Karabiner is poorly designed, the clip part is a cheap piece of plastic that doesn't clip very well. You can go to a dollar store and buy an actual metal carabiner for $1 and it will perform better. Which is what I ultimately ended up doing.
The pulling mechanism for the earbud is decent. However,the diameter of the product is too big. It is closed to 2 inches wide. It has this white outter rubber material which easily gets dirty. The cord is too short. It only pulls out from the earbud end. I wish it was retracble on both ends.
My general dissapointment with the karabiner and casing should not be confused with the excellent sound quality sony gives us as usual. All in all I think this product was a big dissapointment. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

The reason I purchased this product was to have a set of earphones that would not pop off of loose their position over the ears.
These headphones slip over and lock onto the ear and hold the headphones in place while doing several types of physical activities.
There is no irritation and they feel very comfortable.

These headphones work well. I have one relatively small complaint: first, they pinch the top of my ears a bit, and I get tired of wearing them after an hour or two. Sound quality is decent, though not spectacular. There isn't a whole lot of sound leakage, but enough that somebody might notice.
I used these for quite a while and even bought a replacement pair of the same ones when I broke the first pair. Eventually, however, the comfort factor drove me to replace them with a larger more comfortable set that I wear at my desk.

I bought these headphones about 4 months ago. I was very happy when I first got them since they were super-comfy and didn't get in the way while excercising. The sound was pretty decent for the price-range, and overall, they seemed pretty sturdy. Unfortunately, yesterday the right ear conked out and no longer outputs sound. I went to Sony's website to diagnose the problem and their solution was to replace the headphones. Naturally, I'm just outside of the warranty period. I would almost buy a new pair if I thought they would last longer than a few months. I really didn'[t do anything wierd with them, so I'm not sure what went wrong. Maybe it's an isolated incident, but still worth considering before buying these headphones.

Overall,i am very satisfied with these headphones. I read the reviews before I bought them and I expected some problems. The piece that goes over the ear did hurt for about a week. After that it seems like it has stretched out a little bit and they are comfortable. The only complaint I have is that I wish the pads over my ears were a little more snug, in order to block out more exterior sounds. I use these for exercise. I listen to a book on cd so I don't get bored. The instructor has a stereo blasting and I can hear the music pretty clearly in the background, which is ok, but does distract me away from my story at times. I guess I should mention they never slip off my ears and do appear to be very sweatproof!!

These are the best and most comfortable headphones on the market. They block out external sounds when working out at the gym or other areas where you don't want to hear people. The sound is rich - Neither too much or too little base or treble. And if you want more intense sound then just push in the earbuds a little more. I had a prior set of these earphones for about two years but they went dead so I replaced them with a newer version which are just as good.

I've bought these earphones for my Ipod, but was very disappointed with the way they fit. They actually didn't fit me at all. The big loop that goes above my ear, would just hang there without even touching my ear. I was hoping that I could go running with them, and they would be much better than the regular earphones, since these supposedly would stay on my ears without falling out and release the pressure off of my ear canal by hanging over my ears, but that wasn't the case. I wouldn't say that I have small ears, but these are definitely not for every user.
Other than that, they seem to be of a very high quality and sound pretty good. I wish they were adjustable!

A big disappointment.......2007-11-12
I use an mp3 player for exercising at a fitness center, where the ambient noise level is high. Most earbuds that I have tried have had too low a maximum volume. Recently, I have been using a pair of earbuds (supplied with my player) that had good quality sound and higher-than-average volume. However, these advantages were cancelled out by but poor placement in the ear, resulting in serious reduction of volume and degradement of sound quality.
Frustrated, I decided to try to find good in-canal earbuds, settling on the Sony EX81LP earphones. However, I was disappointed upon receiving them to discover that their maximum volume was not nearly as high as that of the earbuds I had been using and that the basses were unusually weak, giving the sound an unattractively brassy quality. I found the over-the-ear frames cumbersome to put on. I also found that they detracted from my ability to keep the buds in the ear canal, since they were inflexible and forced the buds to enter the ear at the wrong angle. As a result, I was unable to keep a tight enough fit to block the ambient noise of the gym. To top it all off, after just two weeks the right earpiece lost most of its volume, rendering the earbuds useless.
(After more research I ordered and received a pair of V-Moda Bass-Freq earbudsV-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black. Finally I had found what I was looking for -- high enough maximum volume for my needs, earbuds that fit neatly in my ear canals and stay there and a really rich sound spectrum, including, as the name implies, a satisfying bass level.)

fits my ear perfectly,, and do not fall of even when I play racquetball. the sound clarity is excellent all by itself but when accompanied by a good music player it would open a completely different world altogether. This earphone set comes with a case that it fits in perfectly. As we know the storage of our earphones is always a big mess. Best for people on the move .

this is definitely a good buy. the sound is clear and loud, perfect for any mp3 player. it is also very comfortable.
i read on Cnet that after three years, they still love it, i havnt had it that long but if i do, i will be a happy owner of this item.
its a bit pricey, but well worth it.
as long as you dont sleep with these things on with your head rested against something and the headphones pressing against your ears, you should not encounter much or any pain.
also, the wire for the headphone is extremely long. good for DJs, but not for owners who just want to walk around listening to music.
all in all though, it is still a great buy and i definitely recommend it to anyone willing to pay for it!

Sony MDR V700JDJ Headsets.......2007-12-12
This product came in a very timely manner, excellent price through Amazon, and resolved a little confusion along way. The product itself is very durable. My last one lasted three years, and it was used three times a day, and did receive abuse from my autistic son, and survived. Not as light weight as others but strong and a good choice for my family and life style.
From a DJ's perspective..........2007-10-10
I am on my second pair of these headphones. I bought my first pair in 2000. All the standard things went wrong with my first pair... the plastic around the swivel joint cracked and the plug began to go bad. However, I used these headphones for over 6 years in the club and at home. I really don't see how anyone can expect them to last any longer than they did. For the price these heaphones are fantastic. They have great response and are extremely convenient and comfortable to use. I have used the Pioneer HDJ-1000 as well and am not really sure where the extra $50 is going.
As a DJ I can honestly tell you that this is your best pair of heaphones for the price.

for the price, this headphone is a really good buy. however i found that after extended use (a couple hours) it does hurt my head. i have even removed the little plastic pieces that helps keeping it on, but some parts of it still pinches my head. regardless, the quality of the sound is superb.

Good for the price. Sound is decent, but you can do a lot better. Music has a tendancy to leak out because of the design, so be warned if you like your volume turned up. You feel the pressure on your ears right away when you first put these on, but the discomfort kicks in about an hour into your use.

I didn't buy the headsets here, but I have this brand and model. I am a programmer; in a busy cubicle farm no-less, so headsets are essential. I have a smaller head and I have a problem with most of the over-the-ear style not fitting my small ears and most of the larger behind-the-head styles push on my ears and it hurts. I don't have any of those issues with these. In fact, I am buying another pair now so I don't have to keep swapping out the headset for all the items I use that need it!

As I type this, I listen to music using this product. This is perfect in that it's relatively compact, toughly built, and most importantly it was cheap to purchase. Headphones and earplugs seem to come and go all the time with me and the end results always leaves me no choice but to buy a new one, but this I can say is a good buy, especially if you don't expect to be able to use it very long. The only drawbacks I can find so far is that 1. The cord is not reclinable and is slightly too long (I keep my MP3 in my waist pocket and there is about a foot of excess cable), and 2. they are kind of tight to keep wearing for too long. The fit is pretty sturdy though and probably desirable if you intend to use these while running. The tight fit against your ears also ensures that you can actually hear the music at relatively low to medium volume. Overall I am satisfied.
