big improvement over previous nikon coolpix models.......2007-12-30
So much has been written in previous reviews I'll stick to the following:
I use this camera with lithium double A's and an "sdhc" sd card.
1) The time lag between flash shots has now been fixed! Previous coolpix models I have had include the Coolpix 3200 (about 6 - 10 seconds between flash shots), the Coolpix L1, and more recently even the L15 (about five seconds between flash shots). The P50 is down to about a second or two. Went crazy at a dark restaurant and the pictures are great.
2) The colors in the pictures are the best of any coolpix I've had so far. Previously I had to fight with the camera settings to reduce yellow tones or pink tones coming off the "whites" but the P50 just seems to nail it. period. indoor pictures are looking very, very, accurate.
3) The menu settings are an improvement with the inclusion of an extra wheel to manually go from manual to video to point-and-shoot.
downsides.....? it's a little big to go in the shirt/pants pocket.
My reasons for purchase were similar to another reviewer... sd card compatibility, viewfinder, accepts AA batteries... the wide angle lens is cool especially for restaurant shots, etc. What has surprised me (positively) is how fast the camera is now between pictures and how good the indoor pictures are turning out.
So far, so good!.......2007-12-09
I'm very happy with this camera's balance of price to performance.
This is my first digital camera. I have a degree in photography, although my job is not shooting now. I've used digital cameras occasionally on the job, but have been holding out at home, using film. Film is very comfortable for me. But we wanted to start to share photos with distant family, quicker.
One thing I decided was to limit my shopping to just one brand (my old FE2 imparts some serious loyalty). I don't have time to compare feature for feature and spec for spec, all these different brands and prices and stuff. I realized I had to make my decision work for what I was going to shoot and who would be using the camera. We go camping, we visit relatives, we bake cookies: average family activities. The camera will be used by me, my wife, and our kids (6 & 8). I'm considering this camera my gateway to digital, and plan on using it for several years at least. So...
My list of features to make my decision:
Nikon was my base brand unless I couldn't find something that fit.
Manual exposure and shutter control.
Time lapse (nice to have, not mandatory).
Ability to turn off the LCD screen and use an optical viewfinder. (P50 can do it on some modes, not all)
AA batteries.
Less buttons = better.
8 MP
About $200, plus or minus $50.
Mac-savvy.
This list helped me make a decision fairly quickly, and I didn't lose any sleep over not looking at 20 more-similar-than-different options in the marketplace. This camera fit, and I've been very happy. My only issue, which I hear is true of all these cameras in this price range, is the lag time on the shutter. I'm convinced we have Gigs of cheap memory only because camera manufacturers need a way of mitigating this serious shortcoming.
I haven't installed the software on my Mac, because iPhoto is perfectly acceptable for what I'm doing: sharing a few pix, ordering prints, and getting organized. I just plugged in the P50 and iPhoto launched automatically.
So far, I've taken great pictures in the daylight, no-flash indoors, several modes. Everyone in the family has tried it out with success. So far, so good, no issues.
I also looked at the P5100 (outside my $, plus it had more buttons than the P50).
photos not very sharp.......2007-11-26
I'm disappointed with the very soft focus results I get with this camera. I've owned several small digital cameras and even the ones capturing fewer megapixels took much sharper photos. The P-50 is a decent all around camera with nice features. (I bought it for the wide angle lens.) I just wish the photos had better detail. I'm going to keep looking, while I put this one up for sale.
Travel mate.......2007-11-23
P50 is relatively inexpensive, so you can't ask too much. But I can say that this camera works pretty well as a travel mate. Pocket-size, wide-angle lens, AA batteries are what you really need abroad. Easy to hold with one hand. Overall image quality is very good. Coolpix P50 offers plenty of image details till 200 ISO. Noise shows up at 400 ISO and, quite obviously, above. Blurred shots can result in tele mode (102 mm max focal length). I haven't been able to take advantage of the image stabilization (electronic, not optical, vibration reduction): certainly, it's my fault. Compact, well-built, serious body. "Manual" is not very much so. At each focal length, you can manually choose between just two lens apertures (e.g.: 2.8 and 5.6 when at 28mm). On the other hand, "Program exposure mode" is very effective: better to relay on it. As usual, the optical viewfinder doesn't cover the whole picture, but in sunny days I experienced it's by far a better solution than the 2.4-inch display. Default images are a bit on the "soft" side: my advice is to increase contrast afterwards. At the end of the day I'm satisfied. Among the few pocket-size cameras sporting a 28 mm wide-angle lens, P50 is a relatively cheap and smart choice.
Great camera.......2007-11-23
I purchased this camera for several reasons. First was the 28mm wide angle lens which is rare for a Point and Shoot (P&S) as most start out around 36mm and higher. The second reason was for the Manual settings, I have always used Nikon Coolpix in the past and had long sought this option. The third reason was that this camera takes AA batteries and thus I can use this to travel without having to buy a power converter so that I can recharge a battery pack.
So far I have been very happy with this camera, it does everything I could ever want and lives up to the Nikon name. Some people complain that it does not have a long enough zoom, but long zooms can lead to very bad pictures when using P&S as you lose a lot of light AND when using long lens you must compensate with quicker shutter speeds- this can be tricky for most and generally leads to low quality images.
Essentially this camera is great for going out and taking pics of family and friends- Landscapes- and Travelling.

Money well spent.......2007-12-21
What can I say other than Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. The picture detail and sound quality is excellent. The set-up was so easy. I place high standards on quality and this was money well spent.
Awesome TV!.......2007-12-16
Having never owned a plasma tv, I researched this tv for a while before taking the plunge. I must say, I was cautiously optimistic about what I might get... The buying experience was great. I got the TV on Amazon for an excellent price and it arrived in less than a week. I had it mounted on the wall and WOW! I LOVE IT. The picture and sound quality blew me away. My husband was impressed that I picked such a great tv. We stayed up half the night watching the HD channels. There is nothing the same. Can't wait to host the SuperBowl at our house! Buy this tv - you won't regret it!
A great TV.......2007-12-10
I am so happy with my TV because the picture is the best without HD, and when you add HD you will not believe how good it looks
This Panasonic rocks!.......2007-12-07
I just bought the Panasonic TH-50PZ700U 50" 1080p Plasma HDTV and wow, what a TV.
The picture quality even on standard def is pretty good and hi def is crisp as crisp can be. There is an excellent array of settings including a number of pre-sets which deliver great options. Refresh rate is excellent and there is no "lag" when fast moving watching sports, which I know is a problem on some other ranges, such as a couple of Samsung models.
Deep blacks are apparent straight away and this was the reason I chose the tv over the Samsung range and also why I went Plasma rather than LCD. And actually the sound is surprisingly good, although I have boosted this by adding a home theatre sound bar for better bass.
One comment I would make though and that is I may be biased slightly as I did hook it up to a $300 Monster HTS1600 surge protector with clean power stage and this literally "cleans" the picture, which on standard def channels removes ghosting and sharpens thing up quite a bit (if you dont have one, they are WELL worth the investment).
Overall, I cant fault the TV, Panasonic you have a winner here!!!
Awesome TV!.......2007-12-05
This is our first HDTV, as we're moving up from a 27" CRT Akai. Like most of the reviewers, I did a lot of research before deciding on this TV and I'm glad I did. We're totally satisfied with both the picture and the sound. We watched the movie 'The Incredibles' on an upconverting OPPO DVD player (980H) and were delighted at the little details we'd never seen before. Then I caught part of the Monday night football game on ESPN HD and again was blown away by the clarity and detail. All in all, the TV itself is extremely satisfying.
I also had occasion to talk to Panasonic tech support. We weren't getting a video signal from our new Cox HDDVR using component cables. (I didn't have an HDMI cable yet...). I called Panasonic, got through with minimal wait, and the tech was very helpful. Ultimately, it turns out that the issue was with the DVR, not the TV. My assessment of Panasonic customer service is very high based on this one support issue.
Bottom line -- If you are looking for an outstanding plasma HDTV, you can't go wrong with this one.

TDK 4.7GB DVD-R media offers the widest compatibility with computer drives and home DVD players. Ideal for general purpose recording, a single TDK DVD-R has ample capacity for thousands of digital photos, up to 6 hours of video data files. Each DVD-R disc can be fully recorded once. TDK metallic alloys change between crystalline and amorphous states in response to the heat generated by a laser for phase-change recording. The differences in reflectivity exhibited by the alloy in its crystalline and amorphous states are read as data. TDK alloys are designed for the most precise laser response, resulting in perfect data marks and superior recording and playback performance.
Customer Reviews:
all right by me !!!.......2007-12-18
TDK makes a very reliable blank DVD-R that can handle up to 4.7 GB of data including up to 120 minutes of video with or without sound. Moreover, these blank DVD-Rs are capable of recording data at speeds up to 16x. These are very useful blank discs to record video. Great!
The DVD-R discs are compact and easy to store and easy to copy to another blank DVD-R if you need to do that. While the discs are still blank, store them in the circular case on the spindle that they came in. After your burn data onto them, I would recommend storing them in slim jewel cases instead of paper sleeves. It's just better protection for your DVD-Rs that have data stored on them. Don't store these discs, burnt or blank, in rooms that become very hot; this causes damage to any brand of this type of disc and you could lose data over time.
There are two caveats about any brand of this product: when you burn the data onto the blank DVD-R, don't be surprised if you see that the data is burning at a rate slower than 16x. This can happen if your burner doesn't have the capacity to burn faster, or it may be a quirk. I am not a professional so I cannot be certain of precisely what causes this phenomenon; but I assure you that the extra minute or two (tops) that you wait to get your DVD-R completed is worth the wait. In addition, DON'T write on these using Sharpie ink pens. The ink can seep through the top coating of the DVD-R disc and slowly but surely compromise your data--and you wouldn't want that, now would you? If you need to label the discs, label its' jewel case using a post-it note.
Overall, TDK blank DVD-R discs store data reliably over long periods of time. I believe that an extra minute to burn the data onto the blank disc is well worth it in the event that it doesn't actually burn at 16x.
Nice to have.......2007-10-19
Very good brand, I've tried Maxell and half of the package didn't work. Amazon does have quick shipping (free) to FPO address.
3 spool a year habit.......2007-10-11
While I'm not an expert on writable media, I've certainly used a lot of it over the past 10 years or so. In the past, particularly in my college days, I bought as much as i could while spending as little as possible. Over the years, i have found this to be a short-sighted strategy for backing up my important files. Many brands are not very reliable over long periods of time. I've also moved many times and my disks have suffered some abuse int he process.
In my more mature years, i decided to stop wasting money on cheap disks that often resulted in burn errors and easily scratched disks and find a brand to which I could be loyal. So far, TDK has been my brand. I have been through 3 spools of 50-dvd for this DVD-r type in the past year and have gotten great results with these disks. These disks seemed to have more substance (i.e, weight / thickness) to them than some of the flimsier generic brands often found online. The price is fairly comparable to many of the other brands of the same quantity and seems to yield more consistantly successful burning and more durable results.
Won't burn at 16x--or 8x--or 4x..........2007-09-08
I have a Plextor DVD writer which never has any trouble writing to generic store-bought DVD-R or DVD+R blanks at the fastest-rated speed--yet these from TDK won't burn at any speed above 2x. Attempts with a higher rate result in erratic failure (sometimes at 20%, or 10%; or sometimes at 99%!). More than half a dozen wasted blanks later I'd ruled out all other factors; disappointing for a well-touted brand like TDK but they *ARE* cheap blanks. btw the media/manufacturer ID is TTH02
Not One Coaster in the Entire Pack.......2007-07-23
For how little this spindle costs, I'm both surprised and delighted to report every single disc was written successfully. Used in an LG DVD burner and a Panasonic ES15 DVD Player/Recorder, there was no problem writing, reading, or closing any of the discs. Unless you specifically need +R for adjusting the book type field, this is a great value.

Customer Reviews:
Stands out above the rest.......2007-12-27
I bought the 1GB Sansa Express for my wife for Christmas. My wife wanted an mp3 player for the gym. The requirements were these:
- had to be small and light with the ability to fit in a pocket
- had to have an FM tuner for the video screens at the gym
- had to be able to play a variety of audio formats without additional software
I can say that the Sansa Express is just the ticket. You don't need any additional software other than what is already on Windows XP and Vista. The device is about as long as a USB jump drive, but a bit thicker. It plugs into any USB port, even the slower 1.0 USB ports (if you happen to have an older computer). When you plug it in, Windows recognizes the player without fuss. Now here is where most people get themselves into trouble. They just start dragging and dropping, not really understanding how the Sansa Express works. That's a sure way to lock the thing up and create frustrations.
The first thing I did was let the device charge for 2 hours. At that point the battery meter indicated a full charge status. I then used the Sansa screen menu to "format" the device. Finally, I went to the Sansa website and got the latest firmware for the device. Firmware updates are incredibly easy, and the Sansa website has a forum with many beginner and advanced participants. A short read of the forums, and you'll learn some great tricks. In fact, I would say that reading the forums on the Sansa website will give you a much better understanding than the included manual, which is not that great.
The sound quality on this device is astounding. Playback of a recording on the Sansa Express is audibly superior to that same recording on an iPod Nano 1st generation. You can also choose from some equalizer presets and even create your own custom equalizer setting. I showed my wife how to use Windows Media Player (already installed with Windows products) to one-click sync music to her new Sansa. Windows Media Player lets you create playlists and shuffle as you sync, and that's quite handy. FM reception is excellent and sound quality in that mode is also nice.
All in all, the Sansa Express is a great media player. It supports many more formats than the iPod, manages power effectively, sounds great, and offers probably the best pricing of any media player on the market. If you need to add capacity later, you can always insert a micro SD card for even more capacity. Nice!
ipod buyers are idiots.......2007-12-26
just compare features and price. I was pleasantly surprised by how long the battery holds a charge and the screen.
Buy the Sansa Clip instead.......2007-12-22
I've owned both, but I had the Sansa Express for about two months before I lost it, along with a pair of good earbuds, when the player disconnected from the cap and lanyard. I had been careful to put the player in a safe place when I left the art studio or was on the move, but this one time I was distracted, and that was all it took.
The Clip, on the other hand, has no parts to lose.
For those of us who tend to be a little bit absent-minded, a lanyard is a necessity, and we might as well throw our money down the toilet as buy the Sansa Express.
Easy to use media audio player.......2007-12-21
This is one of the easiest to use audio media player. All you do is simply plug this into one of your USB ports and you use it as any other USB flash drives, click and drag your songs into the file folders and that's all there is to it! My only gripe (which I deducted a star) is the control navigation which could have been implemented a lot better, but other than that the price is great and it is the same size as a USB flash drive making it compact to fit any pocket (just remember to not lose it or misplace it as if it were a flash drive).
Note: You can also use this as a USB flash drive but remember the limit is only around 1 GB
Don't bother if you use Vista & ITunes.......2007-12-16
I purchased this for my son and of course didn't even think that ITunes wouldn't be compatable (MP3 va MP4). Not only did ITunes not work, but later I was told that this unit is not yet compatible with Windows Vista. I'll stick with Ipod for use of convenience if nothing else!

Paid about what I would have paid at the store. Minus Sales Tax of course. Ordered a book I had been looking for and got free shipping. Did not have to go to two stores (or more) shopping for the best deals. Saved the gas and the time.
Thanks Amazon!!
The Best Made.......2007-07-02
I record 10-15 videos per week, this is the only brand I can always count on.
CHEAP-JUNK.......2007-06-13
I CAN COPY VIDEOS ON THEM BUT, NOT FROM THEM...
Good.......2006-11-08
These TDK DVDs are always on sale (around $9 to $12), so the price enticed me to purchase and try them out.
I have an 8x DVD burner, so I was surprised when these TDK DVD+Rs burned at a maximum of only 4x, which is considerably slower. I've checked with an expert, and they've told me it's about the compatibility of the DVD media with the DVD drive being used. So obviously the TDK DVDs aren't compatible with all drives, and you may end up burning a disc at slow speeds like me. The surface of the discs have a grey color to it, which I like very much. Markers used to write on it really stand out, especially colored ones.
I have had no other problems with these discs. Everything I have burned onto them turned out great, with no errors or skipping of any kind. If it weren't for the slow burning speed, I would absolutely be a lifelong TDK user. Let's hope they produce better versions soon!

Bring your Sirius satellite radio receiver to life with this essential plug 'n' play boombox. Compatible with the Sirius Sportster 3, Sportster 4, Starmate 3, Starmate 4, and Stratus receivers, the boombox lets you follow the game or rock out on the patio to any of Sirius's high-quality digital streams. Simply plug your Sirius receiver into the boombox's universal docking cradle and you're set. Listeners will love the SUB-X1's rich, crisp sound, which employs two tweeters, two midrange drivers, and a powerful subwoofer to create a dynamic frequency response of 70 Hz to 20 kHz. The reception is also topnotch thanks to the included indoor/outdoor antenna, which comes with an attached 19.5-foot cable (the antenna must have a relatively clear view of the Sirius satellite paths to work).
Most importantly, the boombox is fully portable, with a built-in handle for transport and a battery power option (the boombox runs for up to nine hours on eight D-cell batteries). And you needn't worry about hauling the antenna along in a separate bag, because the SUB-X1 includes a built-in compartment that stores both the antenna and cable. Other details include a 3.5 mm headphone jack for private listening, an AC adapter for indoor use, built-in bass enhancement technology, an auxiliary input for connecting an iPod, MP3 player, or other audio device, and a docking adapter that works with ST and SV series Sirius satellite tuners. The boombox, which measures 19.18 by 8.81 by 8 inches (W x H x D) and weighs 7.3 pounds (without batteries), is backed by a one-year warranty.

sound's good.......2007-12-31
I just got the boom box for a Christmas, and as a new Sirius subscriber am enjoying the commercial free listening a lot. I think the sound is excellent; no there isn't any ability to adjust treble or bass, but coming from somone who frequently fiddles with those buttons, I think the sound here is fine. I tend to blast it loud enough in one room to be heard around the house and it handles the increased volume beautifully.
Of course, I have to concur with all of the comments complaining about the difficulty receiving a signal; something I wasn't prepared for. Luckily we have a large window in the front of the house with a clear unobstructed view of the sky, no mountains, tall buildings, nothing but flat land, but the sound still cuts out. I frequently have to go and readjust things. No I am faced with the question, do I go and buy more products to get a clearer signal? I am also very disappointed not to be able to move the box around the house. I got a good price though, radio shack had an after Christmas sale/around 1/2 price, not a bad deal.
One of the Best Sirius Purchases made!!!.......2007-12-31
My Husband is totally addicted to Sirius Radio! We both have Sirius radios in our vehicles. I purchased him his first Sirius Radio last Christmas, Then another Sirius radio in September, and now I bought the Universal Plug and Play Boom box this Christmas for him, he was exstatic!! It was so easy to set up! Now he can listen in the house, garage or anywhere he wants to, it was truly a Merry Christmas for him (and me too!!)
Nicely balanced sound .......2007-11-11
I have had an XM style boom box for a few years now and really enjoy it. This Sirius box has much better sound quality. There isn't quite as much echo and the bass is much more evident. My only complaint with Sirius is that it's much more difficult for me to pick up a signal than it is with my XM radio. The XM boombox can be indoors and sitting on a shelf with the antenna inside and pointing in the correct position....perfect signal. Sirius is much more difficult to predict. It either fades in and out or doesn't work at all unless it has a clear shot. I like both satellite systems equally though in terms of content.
simple boombox with universal docking station.......2007-10-27
I've been using Sirius for almost two years. I recently upgraded to the Sporster 5 from the Sportster 1 (unit went bad, no antenna pick up). I had the home dock and boombox for the Sportster 1.
The boombox is very simple. Basic plug and play. Has two 4" woofer for mid and high-low range, two tweeters, and 1 5 1/5" downward firing woofer for a sub. The port for the sub is the front (front middle screen). Clean sound. Decent low end. Compared to the previous boombox, able to maintain a cleaner sound at higher volumes.
It would have been nice to have some kind of treble/bass controls or an equalizer. Not that I would expect Sirius to do it, but an built in AM/FM radio would be nice; MLB fans would appreciate to listen to AM for their local teams.
The signal pick up, it no worse than using the home docking stations. If you have trouble getting a signal in the house with the home dock or where ever, you'll have the same problem with the box. Unfortunately, no matter what you do, if you don't have a clean site for the antenna, then you'll have signal problems.
Great Product.......2007-10-18
Great product - good sound quality. Wish it had a regular radio built in for those time when a satellite signal isn't available.

I LOVE THIS !!.......2007-12-18
What a great tool for my lap top! I can use it anywhere, my leg, my computer surface, a table, meal tray on the plane, anywhere. It's great!
Great Performance, Great Battery Life.......2007-11-28
I've been using this mouse for about two years now and couldn't be happier. It tracks great on carpet, the arm of my chair, or desktop and I'm still using my original set of batteries. I like that the receiver acts as the off switch for the mouse. That helps to remind me to remove it from the USB port as opposed to my accidentally knocking it out and perhaps damaging the port.
I've got fairly large hands and the mouse feels a little small but overall, it's a great device that works well.
Quirky little mouse.......2007-11-26
I was going to rate it a 3 star, but after a few days of getting used to I raised it to a 4 star. For the price you can't beat it. I got it at Radio shack at a door buster for $10 (I bought 3). At first it was slow to react to movements but after adjusting with the software, it reacted a bit better. But after adjustment the mousepad slowed. So when I want to use the mousepad I had to reajust. It was better then a microsoft mouse I bought previously. That mouse lost the signal and I could never reestablish it. It was also better then a cheap USB mouse I bought. Still sometimes when using this mouse it doesnt react at the first movemeent.
great.......2007-11-25
This mouse has been great. The battery has lasted a very long time and I love the compact design and the ability to snap the USB plug into the mouse.
Logitech V200 Cordless Mouse - Blue ( 931409-0403 ).......2007-11-06
i would not recommend it. The mouse does work any better than any other
mouse. It does not zoom. It is hard to control. You can not turn it on and off.

Love it!!!.......2007-12-12
I am not much of a gadget gal. I bought this product because my physical therapist said I have a tendency to tilt my head to the right (and I have a herniated neck disk)and asked if I do a lot of talking with the phone between my ear and shoulder while working on other things at my desk. She pretty much described my work position. I researched many headsets and decided on this one. I absolutely LOVE it and it has become one of those gadgets that you can't figure out how you survived without it. It has great clarity in both the microphone and in the earpiece. I got it with the handset lever and have to say that this thing is a MUST.
It was easy to set up and requires very little, if any, fussing with. I highly recommend it!
Headset.......2007-10-18
This is not the first headset we've purchased. These work very well with our Lucent Merlin Legend phone system. They are easy to use and the sound quality is excellent
Very Convenient and High quality.......2007-07-18
That's it. I live with this on my ear when expecting call or on hold. I prefer the clarity to any phone in the house. Also I can be on the computer making notes as needed during business calls with both hands free. The quality is totally excellent.
THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-07-03
I LOVE this headset. Awesome, the bomb!! What can I say other than BUY ONE!!!!
Plantronics Wireless headset.......2007-04-11
This product is very good - we have tried another wireless headset (GN Netcom) which was hollow sounding and had static. The plantronics headset is a much better product, in addition to be cheaper. I would recommend the Plantronics headset to anyone.
