Microphone quality (which was what I bought the headset for), is good and solid. The headset itself, less so. The earphone can come off pretty easily, but isn't really an issue as it can be set back into place.

The headset arrived with the microphone dead. I returned it to Altec Lansing and they sent me a replacement, which had exactly the same problem; the mic did not work. I decided to let it go and buy another product.

This is standard equipment at my place of work. Anyone who spends any time on the phone uses them and they very reliable. I just bought an additional one with the M12 amplifier for home use. It functions perfectly with most home phones. Note: It uses an RJ11 jack, that's the square clear acrylic type jack, not the pin type jack found on walkman style headphones.
This headphone can be used directly into a phone, or through an amp like the M12. The m12 has a mute, volume control and microphone volume as well. Additionally it has a passthrough function for your regular headset, so both options are still available when using tyour phone. This is NOT a wireless system.

Great sound quality in the head set, but I wish I would have selected one of the over-the-head models instead. Once you put on the "over-the-ear" version, you can't just forget about it. Now I'm looking into replacing with the head band.
