Pretty good.......2007-12-21
Sound is pretty good. It fills the need that I bought them for. The only compliant I have is that they are not adjustable for the shape of your head and the earcups don't rotate. They them on and if they fit buy them.
I was truley surprised !!!!.......2007-12-09
I got these headphones about a week ago and all I can say is "WOW". The sound quality and virtual surround is amazing.
I have a HDTV and about a $7000 surround system that I love to watch movies with. The only issue I am having is I can't crank it up anymore. My wife and I just had a new baby and with a new baby in the house it is hard to use. I would keep having to adjust the volume up and down. The explosions and music would be to loud and the dialog I could barely hear. It was making me crazy. I just wanted a way to enjoy movies again.
I read a few reviews about these Sony headphones and thought I would try them out. I have to say I have been nothing but impressed. It is not the same as my surround system, but they are still great. I find myself forgetting that I have them on sometimes, yeah... thats how real the surrond is. If you are looking for away to enjoy movies, TV or PS3 without haveing to rumble the house, this is definitely the way to go.
satisfy.......2007-12-03
There are some sound signal interrupted by the surroundings.
In addition, it costs more than I thought compared with the performances
However it is totally satisfied.
because of normal performance and the best design.
Great Headphones!.......2007-11-10
I have been using these with my Xbox 360 and have had no problems with distortion. A little tricky to set up (may be just my set up) Great headphones! They do get a bit warm after about an hour of intense gaming, but they let me frag away while the family sleeps! worth the money.
Lots of static and all sound shuts off when microwave oven is on!.......2007-09-13
Dealer very responsive, but this RF headphones are very very poor. Lots of static and all sound shuts off when microwave ove is on one room away - very very poor. It should be taken out of the market!

Customer Reviews:
Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Wireless headphones that beat the rest of the pack.......2007-09-19
After owning numerous wireless headphones and finding them all lacking in sound (and comfort) I bought these at the closeout price listed here. I also own the Pioneer SE-DIR800C so I have two of the best for comparison. Although the SE-DIR800C sounds very good, the headphones are not comfortable. After a few hours of watching a movie I can't wait to get them off. The AKG Hearo is very comfortable and I find the sound quite realistic, more so than the Pioneer. I've enjoyed the Hearo's clear and "live" sound and recently hooked them up to my high end cd player. With these headphones on it's easy to get lost in the music (try the Sinatra Live at the Sands cd...You won't be disappointed). If you can buy them before they close out you will like them. Highly recommended!
Con...Battery life isn't the greatest but it lasts long enough for a few quality hours of entertainment (Although I found this really wasn't such a big deal as 2-3 hours it enough for any movie).
Best for movies.......2006-09-23
These are great for movies, where the unit directly takes the digial input from the DVD player. There definitely is a surround effect that you cant get with regular headphones. Background noise level is low and the reception quality is better than the various Sennhieser wireless systems which I have used, with less interference and dead spots.
The phones were designed for a charging stand but AKG does not offer one. Instead you must plug in a little jack into the phones to charge them.
Listening to stereo music I get better pure sound quality on my Sennheiser 650s but they are not wireless.

Normal headphone - No surround sound effect.......2007-10-10
This product works just like a normal headphone. With the dolby digital encoder,DTS etc... you cant get real home theater or 5.1 effect. Quality and sound is lesser than other 5.1 headphone available in market. Its better you can try to buy some 5.1 headphone which has 3 or 4 speakers in each ear cup.
Very poor quality!.......2007-02-17
I have never seen so poor headphones. Honestly, it has a very cheap plastic; I mean the material it was made of. When I first time took it in my hands the first thought that came out of my mind was " What did you spend a $100 bucks for, IDIOT!!!!!). Secondly, I didn't feel any difference with or without the digital processor (such a waste of money!!!). DO NOT BUY IT. I urge you to go to BESTBUY first and take a look at it ( my mistake, I did not do it).
Product Description
Wireless headphones are popular among home-theater devotees who like to indulge in uninhibited late night movies, as well as music lovers who don't want to be tied down to their receivers or computers. Sennheiser is one of Germany's leading headphone manufacturers and a major proponent of wireless technology, so we couldn't wait to try its new-for-2005 model, the RS130.
The Sennheiser RS130s are very light, just 9.8 ounces, and we found them extremely comfortable over a long evening of watching DVDs. This set of Open-Air headphones comes with a stylish base station/charger that houses a 900MHz wireless transmitter. The newly revised system is fitted with Sennheiser's Intelligent Auto Tuning system, which automatically selects the best of three available base-to-headset channels to ensure the lowest-possible distortion and noise. To charge the headphones' two AAA nickel-metal-hydride batteries, just place the RS130s on the cradle of the transmitter base. Fully charged, the headphones will play for as long as 22 hours with built-in volume control. The base/charger can be mounted on the wall or placed near your components. All of the adapters and necessary cables are included for stereo output.
The RS130 also features Sennheiser's SRS Headphone virtual-surround-sound system. SRS is compatible with two-channel audio sources such as CDs and DVDs. SRS opened up the sound a bit so that it was less stuck inside the listener's head, but it also made the sound more echo and reverberant. Some people will like the effect, others won't. We didn't and opted to switch it off.
Amazon.com Product Description
Experience total audio immersion and freedom with the Sennheiser RS 130 wireless headphones. With an SRS surround sound mode that can be switched on or off, and a design that completely encases your ears, the RS 130s are ideal for kicking back on the couch with a DVD when the rest of the house is asleep. Or, maybe you want to dance to the music from your hi-fi system while doing some laundry. With the RS 130s you can move around freely while enjoying audiophile-class sound wherever you roam.
While many wireless headphones suffer from poor reception, the RS 130s have the problem licked with intelligent auto tuning and a self-learning automatic signal level control that provides maximum signal reception and a range of up to 150 meters. The headphones are lightweight, too, making them very comfortable to wear. The included transmitter and stand makes recharging the headphone batteries easy; simply hang the headphones on the charging cradle and you're good to go. With an operating time of approximately 22 hours, though, plan on spending most of your time enjoying rich sound and maximum mobility.
What's in the Box
RS 130 headphones, rechargeable NiMH battery pack, transmitter and recharging stand, AC adapter, user's manual.

Better than the last set.......2007-12-24
When the last set lost the sound, it would give static and try to find a signal - usually my neighbor's wireless phone if anything. This one gives three beeps and shuts off. Much better.
FANTASTIC HEADPHONES!.......2007-12-21
I bought two of these for the bedroom tv, based on positive reviews I read, and I couldn't be happier. Incredibly comfortable headphones, amazing sound, well worth the price. I positioned the base on top of the closet, so it's barely in line of sight, and they work great. Easy to set up, too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great deal.......2007-12-17
Bought this product as a refurbished item at about $60. It works very good. When I received the product there weren't any instructions. I went to the manufactures website and got going in no time.
There can be certain head positions that you may get some interference, but 98% of the time it's no problem. I turn on my stereo and go in the other room with the headsets and listen to some great tunes.
It is not a noise cancelling headset, but works well when there are other distractions in the room and I'm trying to watch TV.
Suprise.......2007-12-15
This is a Christmas gift for my wife and I had intercepted all previos e-mails. Thanks to this e-mail she now knows. Amazon could have waited until after Christmas to send this e-mail. Please do send me any more e-mails on this product until after the holiday. Merry Christmas
Exceptional!.......2007-12-12
These headphones were purchased after cheking with consumer reports. I am so glad I checked. I almost settled for a less expensive item and would have been sorry. These headphones still allow ambient sounds to be heard while giving clear and concise sound. This has been a GREAT purchase! I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for headphones.

These headphones are ideal for DVD players and other components with Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround or DTS Surround Sound. These unique open-air headphones are comfortable, cordless and have a 23-foot transmission range, a 90? transmission angle and a self-adjusting headband. For superb sound and mobility, the MDR-DS3000 Infrared Wireless Headphones make the perfect addition to your home theater.
Amazon.com Product Description
Sony's MDR-DS3000 Infrared Wireless Digital Surround headphones are designed for audiophile home theater enthusiasts, and are ideal for DVD players and other components with Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround or DTS Surround Sound. They feature a comfortable, open-air design and a self-adjusting headband, and work at a 23 foot transmission range and a 90 degree transmission angle.
The transmitter that comes with the headphones and enables their wireless transmission incorporates Sony VPT Virtual Phones Technology with advanced level 125MIPS (125 million instructions per second) Logic 3D Processor to provide richer and more natural sound quality, and weightier, more substantial bass sounds to enhance the sound's live presence. There's even a Decode-Mode indicator on the front which visually indicates when the system is in Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround, or DTS mode, and provides a snazzy, stylized representation of the virtual speaker placement relative to the listener. The optical digital input allows you to use the phones with Dolby Digital and PCM audio-enabled devices, and its gold-plated analog input provides noise-free Dolby stereo and pure stereo sources from external devices.
For you audiophiles out there, please note these phones sport a fifth order Delta/Sigma A/D converter that uses 64X over-sampling for high precision audio, as well as a multi-level Delta/Sigma D/A Converter that achieves 18 bit resolution. There's also SILMIC Electrolytic capacitors at the analog stage, for more natural sound, and the copper board traces are literally twice as thick as conventional designs, giving you higher conductivity.
The phones sport a high power infrared transmitter with separate FM carriers for wide bandwidth, and high channel separation, and its 90-degree transmission angle further enhances your ability to enjoy uninterrupted surround sound listening without pinning you down to one spot. You'll get superb transient response with the long-stroke 12um polyester film diaphragms: the new diaphragm shape resists bending and flexing to provide low levels of distortion. Plus, the oversized 30mm diameter drive units are larger than most headphones, for noticeably deeper bass sounds.
The built-in Dolby Pro Logic II decoder unlocks any Surround Sound tracks included in traditional VHS Hi-Fi, and stereo TV, sources to provide the maximum "live" entertainment experience available even here. Built in Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II and DTS 5.1 Decoders reproduce all popular surround sound systems, including state of the art 5.1 channel sound as well as Digital Theater Systems surround sound. Headphone functions include automatic On/Off, volume control, muting, power save, and the ability to recharge on the base.
What's in the Box
Headphones, processor, stand for processor, AC power adapter, rechargeable NiMH batteries, optical digital connecting cable (Toslink to Toslink)
Customer Reviews:
Good value.......2007-11-19
This was easy to set-up and use. Sony makes a good product. I use this while using our treadmill. The only down side to this product is that the headphones are a little bulky and you have to charge the device for 16 hours before using it. Other than that, I would highly recommend this product.
A couple of issues, but overall OK.......2007-10-18
The headphones are comfortable for me to wear for at least a couple of hours at a time. I bought these for late night & early morning TV viewing. I do detect a very faint background hiss during moments of dead air, but have not had time to see if it can be eliminated. Sound quality is good and I have not yet noticed the kind of ear fatigue I get from the distortion inherent in cheaper headphones. Sound imaging is OK and I have noticed that it seem to improve a little if you experiment with the exact placement of the phones over your ears
It was relatively easy to set up in my system, but only because I already was using an optical (+component video) switch for my DVD, PS3, and Apple TV. I still needed to add another optical switch between the first switch and my receiver. This was still a clumsy arrangement, so I am upgrading to a 6x2 optical/component switch which will give me two optical outputs; one for the receiver; one for the headphone base station. I'll also be able to add the set-top box and Tivo Series 3 to the switch. This will allow me to use all of my optical audio sources with the headphone or the receiver.
The only reasons I'm knocking off a star have to do with design issues. (1) 16 hours to a full charge every time is just too long in this day and age. (2) Proprietary battery design means if you want or need extra batteries to charge in the phones, you have to buy from Sony parts on-line (you can, however, use your own AAA rechargeables if you have a separate charger). (3) It is much harder than it should be to get the headset properly seated in the base to charge. (4) It would have been useful to be able to switch inputs (analog/digital) from the headset.
Problems with Amazon Marketplace Seller.......2007-04-14
I never received this item. I expected to receive this item within the delivery period, and never did.
The mail carrier, from what I was told, stole six packages from the seller whom I ordered this item. I waited forever for this item to be delivered, and it never was.
Ultimately, my money was refunded to my account, and I bought myself a better pair of "cans".
If you plan to order this item, be careful. Ask the seller if they ship via UPS. If not, then you can order this item from other websites.
Poor engineering.......2007-03-04
I purchased the Sony DS3000 knowing that they were not suitable for use in front of a plasma screen. Indeed as a number of reviews have stated the noise level in the vacinity of a plasma is completely unacceptable. However I purchased the DS3000 for use with a DLP projector. The Sony DS3000 noise levels are much too high and do not change when the projector is off. It is clear that Sony engineers screwed up. There is simply no excuse for a digital system to have such high noise levels. Sony should be ashamed of this product ... it is a disgrace.
Beware of using with exercise equipment.......2007-02-16
I bought these as a christmas present for my wife to use on the treadmill. I researched every type of headset out there because I was concerned about interference. I chose these because of the IR capability over RF. Line of sight and the need to move around the room or house was not as much a concern. Turns out that they are VERY susceptible to interference from the treadmill motor. My wife found that if she held up both of her arms slighly bent behind her head, the noise would go away !! I'm not sure this is the best solution :-) The headphones are fanstastic otherwise -- comfortable, lightweight and you can easily hear room conversation at a moderate volume. They didn't fit the bill for their intended use though so they'll be up for sale on eBay. I'll get a cheaper corded unit instead.

good headphones but power hungry .......2005-11-26
Going from a Sony MDR-IF240RK headphones to the ds4000 is a big jump in quality and comfort.
over the years I owned over 10 pairs of cordless headphones, mainly IF240 type, which seem to do great on power consumption, but not as good with sound quality and comfort.
With the IF240 I had to put new battery every 2-3 months or so.
The DS4000 require new battery every 2 weeks or so.
The reason I can not use the charger is because I am using more than one pair, so when put on the charger the second pair does not receive any signal.
Sony Cordless Digital Headphone.......2005-09-08
This is the best set of cordless headphones that I have bought. I've owned 3 others. Finally the hiss is gone. Overall the sound is excellent, but the bass response could be a little better. I find the Auto On when you put them on to be very cool. I minor issue is that these are "line of sight" headsets, meaning that you have to stay in direct sight of the transmitter. Other cordless headsets that have owned allowed me walk around the house and still hear the program, this comes in handy when you need to go the somewhere else in the house but don't want to loose any of the dialogue. However this is a small tradeoff when you factor in the good sound and the hiss free trasmission of these Sony headsets.
Great for hard of hearing.......2005-08-18
I purchased these headphones for my 84 year old mother living in an assisted living apartment. She uses them with a large screen tv. She is extremely hard of hearing and could not hear or understand her old tv. After a lot of study I decided to pay the big bucks and hope she would use them. If not, I would have a great pair of wireless headphones for myself.
She loves them, I'm without headphones... The digital input makes for incredibly clear sound. The design makes them comfortable for her too. I was worried she would have trouble placing on the stand properly to recharge them, but she learned faster than I did. She is legally blind, so that goes to show how easy it is when you start doing it. The other nice feature was the auto on/off when you put them on or take them off. Preserves battery strength.
When I decide to spend the money for a great headset, these are the one's I will get.
