The CH Pedals are great. They are built well. They feel good. Maybe they move just a little too easy for realism. However you soon get used to them. I wish the CH yoke was built this good. (but hey, it works)

After using this rudder system for a few weeks, on the whole, it is a great product. The pedals do slide a little too easily for my taste but it's something I can get used to. The toe brakes are a bit sensitive but it can be fixed from within FS. It just takes a little time to find that right setting. I'm close but not quite there yet.

It's a great product, however for Vista you need to visit CH Products and download their latest Vista drivers. The drivers (as of writing) do not like Vista's sleep mode, it tends to disconnect the pedals (and yoke) and still think they're hooked up. Which of course leads to some confusions. Easily fixed by changing the "power switch" in the start menu to actual shut down instead of sleep.

I have been using these for about 6 months, and am happy with them. I don't know which version the previous reviewer has, but I'm sure it is an older one. Mine do have toe brakes, and connect via a USB port, making them compatible with newer versions of Windows. They are plug and play. My only fault with them is that they lack the feel of real aircraft pedals, it's like comparing a keyboard to a real piano. But they are a good value, because if you want pedals with a realistic feel, they need a hydraulic cylinder built in, and are quite expensive.

I got these pedals 2nd hand, and have only begun using them. For those reasons, and because I've got little experience with computer rudder pedals in general, I'm not going to actually review the item qualitive wise. However, XP users who don't really want something more but are willing to pay for it only because they think this product is incompatible with their late-model systems should think twice.
To begin with, these are CH's basic pedals. On real aircraft, the heels of each pedal are used for steering, while the upper half (the toes) are actually used for breaking. I've heard that Pro-Pedals will actually simulate this dual movement. However, these pedals do not - simulating only their use as rudders. Nevertheless, for a guy like me who's been "flying" sim games since 1986, I welcomed any chance to "get my feet off the ground" so to speak. These pedals hook up to a gameport, rather than USB. USB would have been more preferable, sure, but my other 2nd-hand gaming peripherals (a Thrustmaster WCS/FCS set-up) weren't USB either, and I'm not sure that you can play games using multiple-controllers that are USB and non-USB at the same time. If I stuck to my guns and insisted on USB, I'd probably have to junk my other otherwise satisfactory Thrustmaster controls, tossing out the money and the heartbreak spent to get them and get them to work the way I wanted.
Now here's the hard part. After getting them home I learnt of CH's decree that 1) that you needed to hook these up to a 2-port game port and 2) they won't work under XP. Though I already had a twin-port game card (an ACM card, if you must know) lying around, it was an old ISA card, and wouldn't fit on my P4's motherboard. Motherboards have long since completely abandoned the ISA bus for PCI. Twin-port game cards were themselves a bit of a novelty and never caught on string enough or for long enough for somebody to make one in PCI standard. Ready to kick myself, and wondering how much it was going to cost me to get USB for everything ..., I decided to hook it up anyway - and it worked! The pedals come with two connectors - a male connector that hooks up to your game port, and a female connector that your primary controller hooks into. My primary controller also had a keyboard pass-through for a separate throttle-controller. Once the joystick is plugged into the throttle, the throttle is connected to the computer through both the keyboard pass and through a second line that plugged into the rudders. I knew it had at least partially worked when I booted up and the keyboard till worked. WinXP recognized the rudder almost immediately (first, I had to "remove" whatever game-controller setup was already in use on the game controller control-panel. WinXP had no problem detecting the rudders as long as they were detected before the other controls, an inexplicable though otherwise tolerable quirk). So far, I've "flown" in both FS2000 and the original Combat Flight Simulator, and found performance satisfactory in both.
Would USB be better? Perhaps. The point is that simmers owning old components but upgrading to USB-PCI machines like mine shouldn't be so quick to junk otherwise reliable controllers because they won't be able to get gameport controllers to run on their newer systems.

flight simulator 2000 headache.......2003-12-28
I'm still looking forward to using the pedals with Flight Simulator 2000. They look and feel perfect. The base stops them from moving anywhere they aren't supposed to. Once they get going I'm sure it will be like flying a real plane. However with FS 2000 they are automatically doing everything but the job they are supposed to.
They control the throttle and the ailerons but not the rudder. I have turned off auto rudder and have tried to assign yaw to the pedals but in that option to assign you move the controller in the way you want it to be assigned and it auto detects the movement. Unfortunately, it doesn't detect a movement of the pedals in that option so I can't assign it. In spite of this anomaly if I test out the pedals they are working fine on 2 axes.
In summary, you might need a computer boffin to configure it if you are using FS 2000.

I totaly love the CH Products line. The Pro Rudder Pedals are very tough and easy to configure. I've had no problems with any of my simulation software when using these. I bought mine through an amazon affiliate and have had no problems with them at all.

I was so happy to see my pro rudder pedal arrive but to my surprise it was not compatible with my compaq pc. my pc does not have a 15 pin game port.

These USB rudder pedals function like real rudder pedals-- press the right one in, the left comes outward and vice versa. Release the pressure, and the pedals return to neutral. The pedals tip forward to imitate toe breaks (without any friction for feedback).
Installation is painless, and Microsoft flight simulator 2002 will use them without any special configuration.
Although the CH Products website says you can use these for car games, you are better off buying pedals that are made for car games.

XP Compatibility Issues.......2006-09-07
In Win ME/98 it was possible, with a file patch, to use the rudder pedals with other games and also to change controller preference with a number (1, 2, 3, etc.). Win XP handles controllers differently and doesn't allow this. When connecting the Rudder Pedals to the USB and the Saitek X52 Joystick/Throttle combo, the Pedals assume Controller #1, this cannot be modified. The pedals only work for games that support mulitple controllers. If a game does not, in order to use the X52, I have to unplug the Pedals so the X52 will assume the #1 controller position. This really sucks and makes one wish for the old WinME/98, however, they aren't as stable as XP nor are some of the newer games backward compatible to the older OS. So it's a bite-the-bullet and live with it. IF your game supports multiple controllers and your OS is WinXP then these pedals are outstanding, but that frequently isn't the case. Don't play Max Payne or other games with the pedals plugged in, they will be the primary controller...ugh.
Excellent Pedals with a minor distraction.......2006-02-23
As far as the pedals go, these are excellent for the price. Why didn't they get 5 stars? They have a detent the hold the pedals at center. Real airplanes do not have this (the pressure on the rudder keeps the pedals centered) and this detracts from the feel and usability of the pedals. Hopefully after more break-in that will loosen up.
The game that came with it is not but but also not what I bought the bundle for. Had a little trouble getting both the pedals and my flight yoke to work with the game at the same time (no problem is MS Flight Sim).
