Excellent headset with a few minor issues........2007-08-08
I bought this headset for two reasons: its good reviews and its price.
The reviews were well-deserved, and the price was right. Its design makes it comfortable, attractive, and easily adjustable. The microphone is excellent -- I'm even using it for some amateur acoustic guitar recording until I can justify purchasing a nice condenser.
However, I still have some small problems with it. Its cord, at around 6.5 feet, is a little short for my purposes, but it's nothing crippling. Also, the sound isn't quite as "bassy" or "full" as I'd like it to be, but it is by no means low-quality -- especially for the price.
All said, this headset is a little gem; it is excellently priced and well put-together.

I always have a better experience at the gym when I am listening to my own music. Ear-buds hurt me. The ear phones that hook over your ears and have a piece that goes into the ear canal hurt me and they don't stay in my ears.
I was using a different brand and design of bandless clip-on headphones and they were somewhat uncomfortable, but still superior to ear buds.
In July, I bought pair these JVC's for a gift and was stunned with how comfortable they were. I went home and ordered 2 pair for myself.
They sound good, feel good, and they don't fall off in the gym. what's not to like?

Great headphones. It is both sleak and comfortable. The in-band volume control is very convenient. Of course you cannot expect perfect sound quality out of ear-clip headphones since they generally leak sound more or less. This is, however, a very good choice if you are looking for an inexpensive and comfortable headphone.

I bought these because I jog/run/walk and can't stand the headphones that you stick in your ear. These clip on the outside of my ears and work great. I haven't had any problems with them falling off yet! I also enjoy the volume control.

Many people are now using earbuds to listen to music during exercise, but I intentionally purchased these to use instead of the 'buds' that came with my mp3 player. For exercise purposes, they stay securely on my head (never falling out of my ears), and using the volume knob along with the volume settings on my mp3 player (Creative Zen Nano) they block out almost all ambient exercise noises (treadmills, TV, talking) without hurting my eardrums - another advantage over the buds. With sensitive hearing, there was a comfortable maximum setting.
For use with other devices, such as my computer with a 1/4" adapter, in quieter settings, I still enjoyed the benefit of not hearing ambient sounds, and feeling comfortable wearing them.
I only found a few minor faults with these headphones. Especially during exercise, I found myself wanting a little more bass. In a quieter environment, I still wanted a little more. The cable is also a bit long, so I had to use a rubber band to wrap up a few feet of it, and put that part of the cable in my pocket during exercise. For those of you who like your music loud, these may not be the best headphones. As I mentioned, with the mp3 player I use, I discovered a maximum volume threshold.
Overall: great headphones for the average music lover who 1) wants to listen to music without external interference and 2) likes to listen to their own playlist when working out.

the title really says it all. there are great little headphones that are also portable enough to carry with a laptop. the in-line volume control is great. you don't know what you are missing until you try it.

They were inexpensive and worked really well. I gave them a beating when I would shove them in my bag and pocket but they still worked. If you are all about sound quality then probably not the product for you but if all you want is to hear your music clearly then they are great.

Not good for gaming...........2007-12-26
I bought this for one of my fiance's Christmas gifts. He plays all kinds of games like Team Fortress, BF2, WOW, etc. He only used it for one day and he is ready to send it back. The headset is very uncomfortable and tight on your ears. The sound is also very crappy... you can't turn the headphones up very loud at all! He was trying to tweak the headphones so they would turn up louder but nothing worked. I don't recommend these for anyone who uses headphones regularly, they are not worth the money at all.

I own three sets of Sennheiser Earphones, two for my ipod, This model replaced a Logitech pair(the wire on the Logitech broke) that I use primarily for Skype. I highly recommend the PC151 for the comfort, they are very lightweight and don't begin to feel heavy after a long hours of use, their incredible sound quality and the fact that it has an adjustible volume control on the cord. These are worth the extra expense. Works great on a MacBook Pro too!
Good gaming headphone.......2007-10-18
Good price and good quality. Not as good quality as the high-end Sennheiser phones but still good. The mic is short but very good. I speak softly and the mic doesn't reach my mouth but ppl can still hear me perfectly. I had a Plantronics before and it was bad compared to this.
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 was because it did fit snugly on my head. I want the headphone to fit well even if I move my head a lot. It is better than the Plantronics that constantly fell off when leaning forward.

My husband wanted this headset after reading reviews from other customers. He uses it with his laptop when he makes his long distance calls using Skype. He has some hearing loss, but with this headset, he can hear everyone clearly! Other people say that he sounds clear, too! When he listens to music on his boombox, he hears things he never heard before with his old headset. He says they are very comfortable and loves them! I ordered a pair for myself after trying them! I would just like to say that I had these for about 1 month until this headset broke. When they worked, they were very charming and I really appreciated the rich sound. As another reviewer pointed out, these guyz are hot on the ears. I would probably only use this headset for the occasional game of counterstrike and wear some better quality headphones with more breating room for regular listening and gaming.
The fantastic sound that these make in mind, my headphones broke remarkably easy. Personally, I am in my latter teens and I am pretty careful of my gaming equipment. I can imagine someone less careful than me having a far less time span of this headset.
The cord is undeniably too small and thin, that is all there really is to say. I would invest in a higher quality Senn product because they make great sound.

i really like these. i bought them for the inline volume control which
i find very useful since the songs on my ipod are recorded at various
volumes. when riding my bike i don't have to fish around for the ipod
flywheel, instead i use the inline volume control. i know there are
earpods with better sound, but the inline volume control was very important for my use.

Due to the design of these earbuds they fit in your ears uncomfortably. The bass is good, thats the only reason for 2 stars. Even treating the earbuds with care (running the cable down the INSIDE of my shirt so as to make sure that the cord doesn't get snagged on anything) ,The left earbud stopped working in less than 1 month. Buyer Beware.

These are pretty good. I tried some $100.00 sets which were good of course, but not worth the money when these headphones produce good sound, are very well priced compared to the deluxe models, and have the windup case for quick and easy storage.
These Are The 'Phones For Me.......2007-03-18
I bought my first pair of Sony earbuds about 2 years ago - I still have that pair and just purchased a new pair as a backup. This time my backup pair has the inline volume control, and I couldn't be happier with them. I originally only used my Sony earbuds on a laptop to listen to DVD movies, music and audiobooks and then after getting an 80gig video iPod late in 2006, I decided to plug them in instead of the iPod phones. The difference in both sound quality and comfort were instant.
I have a pair of JBL Reference 220's I rec'd for Christmas that do not hold a candle to my *much* less expensive Sony earbuds. One thing that is necessary to keep in mind is to put them in the case they come with when you're done with them; storing them rather than leaving them attached to an MP3 or iPod will extend the life of your earbuds, no matter what kind they are.

Listening to music through these headphones is like listening to music through a blanket. Everything sounds muted, the highs don't extend very far, the lows are almost non existent. Their sound is anything but clear. Dynamics? Forget about it
I'm looking for a $20ish pair of headphones to keep in my backpack at all times. I figured these might do the job...but wow was I wrong.
I found the Sony MDR-XD100, which is actually cheaper, sound much better. Did I mention the build quality sucks? The XD100s are a little more durable but still leave much to be desired. Perhaps that's just low end Sonys in general?
I'm thinking about just dropping the extra few bucks for a pair of Sennheiser PX100s or AKG K81DJs.
My main headphones are the Grado SR-80 and BeyerDynamic DT990s...I know what good sounds like. All my music is either FLAC or 192 Kbps VBR mp3s.
I'm giving these headphones a two star because I've heard worse...and much better for cheaper.

These headphones are great at this price! I already have the previous model MDR-V150 which are without the volume control and I wanted one more pair for recording vocals so that the performers can individually set the volume. My only complaint is that there's a certain fatigue after wearing them for more than 4 hours! Overall, the sound is great and very well balanced!

Headphones sound good, volume control is nice in-line but, they are very small. Not sized for adults, would fit kids fine, makes ears sore after some time wearing.
My outdoor headphones of choice.......2007-01-03
These sound quite good for their price and function well both in outdoor environments and in public situations such as buses. They are somewhat heavy compared to modern ear-bud or "over the ear" designs, but can be worn comfortably for a period of several hours.
The ear-cup attachment points are somewhat fragile, but it's not a deal breaker. The in-line volume control is very useful when external noise levels change frequently, but it is somewhat vulnerable to water when the headphones are used in rainy conditions. Usually allowing the volume control to dry thoroughly (hairdryer) will correct this problem.
I'm on my fourth set of these, and the usual lifespan is one to two years with failure occurring either at the ear-cup attachment points, or due to cumulative wire pulling creating a short.
