I never work with asus from the factory, i must to say that the cables and conectors made extremly easy all the procces... this a medium motherboard but it's very very good.. i mean: it's asus for me.

first is important to say the whole kit: asus p5b-vm, 2 Gb dual channel pc6400 corsair, core 2 duo E6600 2.4 Ghz 4 Mb cache L2, windows vista ultimate. it runs like a windows 95 in the same machine (ridicously fast). photoshop CS3 takes a mere 2, 32 seconds to open (first time in the day, after this is faster). the video on board works like a grafic card.. most of the new games runs with no problems. two things that i bother.. first, there's NO INFORMATION on the manual or the page about how to put the memory to get the dual channel (saw it on a forum in other site) and the board is kind of hot.. i use a thermaltake mambo series as a case, with a rear fan and the board is always 45 - 50°C.. besides it, excelent board for the price

Excellent All-In-One Micro-ATX Board with Working RAID.......2007-06-26
Bought this board to replace a similar ASUS P5B-VM. Using two Hitachi 500GB SATA drives, this board gives a real redundant RAID-1 solution. Has been running perfectly for two months with a 2.4GHz Core-2 duo and 2GB RAM. I recently added an eVGA e-GeForce 8600 card to drive a 30" HP monitor having 2560 x 1600 resolution - all without a hiccup from this board. It also supports the new quad-core cpu's so for now is somewhat future-proof.

A good motherboard with some nice extras........2007-09-11
I bought this motherboard since I didn't want to the wi-fi features of the P5K series. I've been using Asus motherboards for years and it was a given that one of their products was going into my new box.
Two caveats with this board: I had to update the BIOS since it shipped with the ancient 0402 ROM. I flashed the motherboard to version the 0705 which is required to support the new 1333MHz Core 2 Duo CPUs from Intel (it also supports the upcoming Penryn processors). The second was the ScreenDUO mini-display; I had to use version 1.08.08 instead of 1.08.06 of the application since the older of the two screwed with my system. Although the newer revision is listed at Asus's web site as a beta it's very stable and fixed the problems I was having.
Other nice touches include 512MB of flash memory, which is soldered onto the board, and a remote control with an infrared receiver that can be used to launch applications in addition to turning your computer on and off. Keep in mind that the receiver and ScreenDUO mini-display must be plugged into USB ports 3 and 4; anything else will cause the PC to powerup when they pulled out or reboot continuously. That aside this motherboard will make an excellent foundation for any PC build.
Could use a little fine tuning.......2007-06-30
This motherboard works great, but for something labeled as Vista edition, it could use some fine tuning. For one thing, all the fancy utilities that you can install require administrative priveleges to run, which negates the purpose of Vista's UAC.
Also, I don't see how the fancy heat pipe system improves anything. My mobo still runs fairly hot. I'm not even overclocking the thing.
Still, ASUS makes some of the best mobo's in the biz, and I'm a loyal customer. Once you get past these little inconveniences, it is a sturdy board with awesome on board sound and lots of features (for those willing to run all of there accounts as admins).

P5B is overpriced as it lakes dual LAN, Firewire and internal RAID (it supports RAID 0 & 1 via one internal and external SATA disk), BIOS needs to be updated in order to support Intel Quad Core. It may worth to review these motherboards first (Asus P5KC, Intel DP35DP, Asus P5KE/WIFIAP)
BIOS is the bad thing in this motherboard.......2007-05-14
ASUS is one of the most reputable firms making Motherboards and other products, and i know this because my old pc (Pentium 4) have an asus motherboard and with more than five years on hard use the Asus is in Flawless condition. Recently i configure a top of the line PC with this motherboard, but the motherboard have some limitations: 1- The first is the memory, forget the "up to 8 GB memory slogan", if you are runing Windows XP asus only recommend up to 3 GB of DDR2 memory installed. 2- The Bios is the second tackler, if you have a recent Intel Based Proccesor -like Core 2 Duo i have- you need to Update the Bios for take advantege to your CPU, but if you dont know how to install the Bios the system become in a oermanent state of "coma" and you need to JUMP the motherboard. 3- The last Thing is: DONT INSTALL THE PC PROBE software for monitor your computer hardware tasks, this program give you WRONGS values of your cpu. The CPU works fine, but if you are going to configure a HIGH END PC (like i try to do) dont purchase this model of the ASUS motherboards, better buy the ASUS DELUXE edition.-

I installed this board about 3 weeks ago. I was running XP on it until I got my Vista this week. I haven't had any problems with it. BIOS is easy to tweak and it overclocks wonderfully. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it doesn't support firewire.
Good P965 Chipset Motherboard.......2007-01-24
Although I've only owned and used this motherboard for a few weeks, it definitely seems to be a good performer. Although it's missing some features of it's more expensive brethren (the P5B-E, Deluxe, etc), it's a good overclocker, has good expansion ability and seems to be compatible with some finicky RAM that I have.
