Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Great sound quality for such a tiny package.......2007-11-05
I bought the miniblaster portable speaker in December 2006. I was amazed at the quality of the sound for such tiny speakers. Now, almost one year later, the speakers are still going strong. If you are looking for good quality pocket size speakers, these are a good choice.
A Great iPod Speaker........2007-08-08
It is tiny, compact (no wiggley parts to break off) it runs on batteries as well as AC and I am completely delighted with it.JLab Audio MBBG1 Miniblaster Portable Speaker for iPod Nano (Gen 1) - Black
STOP THINKING AND BUY IT.......2007-07-28
Best bang for the buck...i read all the reviews. just buy it. you can't beat $15 shipped. it gets the job done.
Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Solve the problem of annoyingly insecure ear headphones permanently with JVC HA-FX66 Air Cushion headphones. The body of each earpiece is a soft silicon rubber air cushion with a much better fit than your standard headphone earpiece. In addition, the headphones come with three different sizecushion earpieces for the best possible match to the size of your ears. The result is an in-ear headphone that stays securely in place while remaining comfortable. What's more, the design also provides superior isolation from background noise, allowing the user to get the most out of the headphone's 8.5mm neodymium driver. Noise caused by cord movement is also minimized because of the headphone's friction noise reduction cord and vibration-proof structure.

Nice fit not so good sound.......2007-03-08
They work for the price guess I was hoping for more. They do not get very loud and do not block out the sound very well. In a noisy environment I cannot even hear what I am listening to at max volume on my zune.
Awful.......2006-11-10
The fidelity is not very good. I din't expect all that much, but the real problem is that the cord is too long to work well with an Ipod. The cord tangles like crazy and the offset lengths to accomodate the volume control make the headset clumsy. I just quit using the headphones in favor of the stock ipod ones.
Antonline.......2006-09-13
Antonline lies about their shipping to the US. I am in the US and they won't ship here. If these guys want to ship only to the continental US, they should say so and not have Amazon's customets in Hawaii and Alaska waste time on them.
Getting ready to order another pair..........2006-08-22
These phones are great! I'm not an audiophile, but I do appreciate a good sound. The stock iPod buds are average at best, and they hurt my ear something awful. So I tried some Sennheiser buds... Better sound, but painful ears again. So I started searching for some in-ears. As you may or may not know, quality in-ears can be expensive. I saw a couple of reviews for these JVC's and decided to give them a try. Again, I'm not an audiophile, but these sound so good! They bring the music from my iPod to LIFE! And I can jam as loud as I want (I know, I know) and not disturb anybody. And the comfort! OMG, it feels like nothing. They are as light as air! They come with three sizes of plugs so you can get the best fit. Search for in-ear phones to see how they are supposed to fit. If you aren't getting good bass, it's because you don't have the proper seal between the bud and your ear. Regarding durability, I've had them for six months and not a problem yet. And I'm not the most careful person with my electronics... Just so you know, I need a new screen for my iPod :( and these phones have been everywhere my iPod has been and are still like new, no static or anything. I'm going to order a couple more pairs just in case JVC loses their mind and stops making them.
Not my favorite headphones.......2006-06-26
I have to confess right now, I'm not an audoiaphobe (or whatever it's called). I just wanted relatively inexpensive headphones to plug into my hard drive so I can listen to music while I'm at work (and block out all the annoying noise around me). I had the Sony headphones which were similar to the JVC but I ran the ear bud over with my chair and crushed it. So I thought I'd get something similar but a little cheaper. I wish I had bought the Sony again. These are ok, but everytime I move my head, I get static. So unless I'm sitting very still, the sound quality is not that great. Of course, when I am sitting still, they're fine and get the job done, but that pesky static every time I turn my head or move is very annoying. I won't buy these again.

Customer Reviews:
Very Unsatisfied.......2006-11-10
I purchased these headphones because the earbud style is the only ones that would stay in my ear. These kept coming out, and the wire had a short in it. I was very dissapointed in the product. Every time I moved my head they popped out of my ear. I have since then purchased a different name brand and I am very happy with them. They are also the earbud style.
Down to the wire in 6 months.......2005-12-21
I purchased these headphones about 6 months ago for $40. What a mistake that was. The covering of the wire has been slowly tearing away. I'm left with the bare wire and i'm not happy. I'm really getting sick of buying headphones like these that just fall apart in under a year. Its time to step up and buy really good ones that will last and have a warranty. The sound on these are avg at best...not enough bass...i would highly not recommend this product unless you can get them for under 20 bucks
Small Size, Small Price, Big Sound.......2005-11-18
After steering far away from Sony's earbud "melting" cord problem, I decided to look elsewhere. After researching far and wide these little buds caught my attention.
As for the uneven length of the cord, I suppose I can understand the confusion for no where on the package is this explained and it is assumed the user knows- it is meant to be put around the back of your neck so when you take them off they hang over your shoulders and not on the ground. Hope that helps.
Sound. Truly great. Deep bass, even mids, and treble. I'm extremely picky with headphone sounds and prefer the sound of the Koss Porta-Pros and their various spin-offs. They're just a pain to lie down at night with, including the clip-on versions. These remind me of that sound if you know what I'm talking about; no over emphasized, perhaps fake is the word, bass that you'll find in cheap headphones. Testing these at a flat frequency (where most faulter) brings surprising good sound, even for a bass hound like myself. Don't expect an over the top bass sound, but a solid deep bass (with the proper music of course).
Very comfortable, although I will admit I will have to get used to shoving something in my inner ear. But regardless, I tested this lying down with an outcome of flying colors. If you listen to music at night in bed as I do, again thumbs up.
I can't believe the price is sub-$20 bazookas... I can't honestly say I've compared them with the big boys (Shure, etc.), but after receiving these at this price and sound- who cares? I highly recommend these buds.
Uneven cords.......2005-11-18
While the sound quality of the headphones is good, the cords are of different lengths. I don't see how this is supposed to work, but it looks really funny and is inconvenient. Don't buy these.
Better than the sony fontopia.......2005-10-20
These are the same spesker elements as the more expensive Sony. The problem I have with the Sony is the stupid offset (one earbud wire longer than the other, this still has that) and the fact that the casing peels away from the wire if it is exposed to the dirty conditions I work in. THe JVC model while not as elegant with the double wire held up longer, still failed after a few months but lasted longer than the Sony's at half the price. Great sound, better than the Apple in ear. Haven't tried the Shure's but considering how often I change these out it'd be a real shame to spend $100 on bare copper wire.
