Very Poor Product.......2007-08-03
Purchased lanyard worked for two weeks before one side failed. Very Disappointed do not reccommend 2nd generation lanyard at all.
Needs better earbuds.......2007-06-24
This is a good product that could be great with a few adjustments.
First of all, they should be absolutely clear that this only fits the 2nd generation Nano. This will not fit the 1G Nano (the one with the shiny metal back). Also, the earbuds they used are the earbuds that everyone hates. I wish they made this lanyard with the flexible rubber "In-Ear" headphones which fit perfectly. This is available for the 1G Nano, but not the 2G for some reason.
On the plus side, the lanyard is great for exercising. The part that goes around the neck is adjustable and you can run with it on without too much hassle (although I tend to tuck it in my shirt if I am running).
I tried using the Nano armband, but the headphone cables go all over the place when you have it on. Jogging on a treadmill with the armband is a nightmare. On the other hand, cable management is great with the lanyard. You barely notice the cables at all.
Best Headphones.......2007-05-13
I used it and found it's great. It's help me to carry on my Ipod easily. I love it.
Great for your 2nd Gen iPod Nano.......2007-04-29
This is a pretty good item to have for your iPod Nano, 2nd generation. If you walk, do chores, or any other physical activity while you listen to your iPod this is for you.
Lanyard snaps securely into the iPod's dock and earphone connector and the adjustable strap goes around your neck. The all-in-one design includes the apple ear buds. I use it frequently when I do light chores around my Christmas tree farm.
My only complaint is really against the Apple earbuds themselves. They really have only adequate sound and they don't fit into your ears well. I would have given it 5 stars if you could use your own earphones with the lanyard or if Apple improved their earbud design and sound quality.
It is awesome!.......2007-03-23
I use this all the time It makes having an ipod easier.

Almost great.......2007-08-30
I use my 2 year-old Nano a lot! I listen to audiobooks on my daily 2 1/2 hour cummute, so the thing is practically permanently attached to my neck. Within a year of purchasing my nano & white Apple lanyard, I had a very dirty-looking lanyard, even though I tried washing it & scrubbing it with a toothbrush, etc. Though clean, the thing remained greyish. I found the Griffin black lanyard and thought I had a permanent solution to the problem. Alas! Although the Griffin lanyard has fine sound, & a better, more practical look, its construction is not nearly as durable. At the back of the neckpiece is a rubber connection where the string for the neck and the headphone wires meet-- the rubber insulation wore out at the juncture and rendered the copper wires frayed-- in sum, it was kaput after 6 mos. Why can't Apple make a black lanyard or Griffin make a more sturdy one? Ugh.
Great Price!.......2007-07-10
There is no other headphone for this price. What a deal! I couldn't believe how inexpensive they were, and they are so small too. They must be the lightest ones on the market.
Good product at economical price.......2007-07-10
I like the tunebuds. It's a good concept - earbuds and lanyard, all in one. Fits good, sounds good, and looks good, especially when I'm out for a run or working out. My wife doesn't know it yet but I'm buying another set for her.
I LOVE THESE HEADPHONES.......2007-07-10
i have tried different ,about 25, headphones and earbuds, but these were the best fitting and best sounding ones that i could find. these were awesome, and on amazon, you can find them at a VERY Good and inexpensive price.
its just another great item that i have found while shopping on amazon.
So-so sound, great idea with problems.......2007-05-22
What could be better than hanging your first generation ipod nano around your neck?
Well, First off, I must say that these headphones lasted about 3 months before they were totally unusable. The plastic coating on the wire coming from the neck cord to the earbuds hardened so much that it actually started to snap in places before the left side was just hanging together by the exposed audio wires. This is an unforgivable flaw in this product.
Sound quality was passable if you didn't care about what your music sounded like. I must say that they did feel comfortable in my ears. Of course, when the wire started to harden they were difficult to keep in the ear.
I really like the design. Much better than Apple's lanyard headphones, in my opinion. The cord around the neck is comfortable as it's cloth covered. You barely know it's around your neck. The other flaws detract from what could have been a stellar product.

Perfect for the gym.......2007-12-04
This is the best way to take your ipod to the gym - handsfree and no pockets needed, no clips, no bulky thing on your arm. I also like that I can take the earbuds out and just leave them dangling and quickly get them back on without having to untangle everything.
No big deal.......2007-03-28
Thought it would highly increase the iPod experience, but sound quality is not even better than standard iPod earphones. Already sold them.
All plugged up.......2007-03-27
Even coming with three sizes of of "ear gasket", using the smallest I'm afraid these headpohones still don't fit comfortably, and the 'seal' it creates on the ear is terrible. If you work out and sweat, it becomes even more atrocious, and as you adjust the headphones, the gaskets slip out of place; they're keyed to the headphone, but they don't stay in place. I am fairly dissatisfied with these In Ear headphones, and would not recommend them to anyone.
Dont waste your money.......2007-02-12
this product stinks. The buds didnt stay in my ears. The plug that connects to the ipod didnt stay securley fastened. This product is worthless in my opionion.
you get what you pay for...........2007-01-11
i was so excited when i found these lanyard headphones had been marked down from $50 to 14.77...then i found out why..no matter what size ear cover you use they just don't stay in your ear!! i still like the idea of the ipod hanging around your neck, but i think i am going back to my original ear buds and might try a arm band...these were really disappointing ;-(

Great headphones!.......2007-06-08
Good sound quality. Great way to keep you Nano handy. The ear pieces block some abient noise. Make sure you insert the connector completely or your Nano might hit the floor!
Lanyard does not fit the IPOD Nano - returned it.......2007-01-09
The mechanism that is used to attached the lanyard to the IPOD nano is too large and is not compatible with the nano. I had to return this item.
very poorly designed headphone.......2007-01-06
Two days after I received the headphones, the right earpiece stopped working. I'm not happy about the purchase at all.
Good headphones.......2006-12-27
I also have the IPOD brand lanyard and there are some significant differences in it and this lanyard that is not official Ipod brand. First of all, my Ipod lanyard is not the in-ear kind like these are. My Ipod lanyard's earbuds sit in the outside of my ear like the original headphones that came with my nano. These are the in-ear kind that plug into the ear canal. These come with three sets of jackets so you can custom fit them to your ear canal size. Ipod also makes an in-ear lanyard for the first generation nano. But the reason I got these instead of the the Ipod in-ear lanyard is that they are black. I found that my Ipod lanyard, which only comes in white, had gotten very dirty. I walk on a treadmill with it and sweat, so I really wanted something that wouldn't show dirt and figured the black wouldn't. The wires that make up this black lanyard couldn't get dirty anyway, though, because unlike the Ipod brand lanyard, this black lanyard is plastic. Ipod's lanyard is a fabric-type cord. I'm not sure what I think of the plastic. It won't get dirty but I'm afraid it will be hot to exercise with. I'll have to see about that.
There are three other differences: the way the "arms" that go to the earphones are connected, the inability of the "necklace" to change sizes, and the connection to the base of the Ipod itself. 1. The "arms" are permanently connected to the same place on the cord. 2. Which makes the "necklace" length fixed and unable to be lengthened or shortened. Basically there is a necklace made of black plastic and attached are two "arms" (also out of black plastic) that go out to fit in your ears. These two differences can be a blessing or not depending on your size and sight. On my Ipod lanyard I had let out the necklace to the longest length because of my failing 40-something eyesight. That made the earphones come together at the back which took the "arms" further from my ears and turning my head too far can dislodge the earphone. This is not a problem with this black lanyard because its length is not adjustable and yet it is just as long as my Ipod lanyard at it's longest length. That's great for me and not so good for my petite 13-year-old -- it goes below her navel with greater potential for breakage. Again this black lanyard is not adjustable in length. 3. The way it connects to my Ipod is significant and again I'm not sure which way works better -- the Ipod lanyard or this black one. The Ipod lanyard connects with both the headphone jack and a section that fits in what Ipod calls the "dock connector port." There is no lock or release on the "dock connector" of the Ipod lanyard (it just pulls apart)so some people have complained about their Nano coming off. I only had that happen once with my Ipod lanyard when I removed a pull-over sweater without first removing my nano--duh. This black lanyard connects more securely. It has a headphone jack but no dock connector. Instead there is a little metal hook that hooks in the left side of the dock connector that is pulled back (to make the lanyard removable) just like the recharger that came with the nano -- by squeezing the sides of the lanyard connector. I have a gel cover on my nano and was concerned at first that I wouldn't be able to squeeze on the black lanyard, but I simply pushed the gel out of the way just a bit at the sides and it connected fine. I think the black lanyard attachment is probably more secure than the Ipod lanyard because of this design. Plus anytime I don't have to put something in the dock connector port, I think it's a good thing to ensure the innards are left intact for recharging and docking to my computer.
I think these will be good headphones. The sound is good, probably as good as my Ipod lanyard, if not, pretty close. I'm fine with the "necklace" not being adjustable since it is so long. I like the connection to the nano better than the Ipod lanyard and I like it being black. The in-ear earphone is much, much more comfortable than the other kind. I'm still deciding on the plastic. Hope this helps.
Not compatible with 2nd Generation Nano.......2006-12-19
This product seems to work well, but don't be fooled by the "Better Together" suggestion below the product description: this particular item is NOT compatible with the 2nd Generation iPod Nano. One needs to purchase a model of this headphone set specifically for the 2nd Generation Nano for that purpose, as the connector distances and shape of the connector on this item is such that it will fit 1st Gen Nanos only.

Pricey Accessory that is Great in the Gym.......2006-12-26
With Apple's iPod being the dominant player in the mp3 market, there is a panoply of Apple and third-party products to aid its operation. While the sound quality of the included iPod headphones has always been sufficient for my needs, they did not provide optimal placement of the player. Spending most of my mp3 listening time using free weights in the gym, I needed a secure means of carrying my iPod that wouldn't interfere with arm movements. The lanyard was the perfect choice. After hundreds of hours of use with the first and second generation lanyards, I have been rather pleased with both their sound quality and durability.
Given my experiences with other headphones and mp3 players, however, I would suggest two enhancements. First, there should be a means of detaching the iPod mechanically while the headphone jack is still connected. This would require two attachment points and some slack in the audio cable. I previously owned an inexpensive, nameless mp3 player acquired on eBay that has this arrangement. While less durable than iPod-lanyard combo, it offered much greater flexibility. With Apple's lanyard, the iPod placement becomes a hassle during exercises where a straight bar is brought down on the chest, such as bench pressing. With the previous arrangement, I could simply detach the mechanical cable and place the mp3 player in my pocket while still listening to my favorite songs.
Secondly, given my experience with the Koss Spark Plug earphones (see review), I would have preferred better sound isolation. The lanyard headphones do little to stop ambient noise, which is an issue in health clubs. In addition, the lanyard headphones just don't have the deep bass of the Koss product.
Having owned both first and second generation lanyards, I can't determine any difference between their construction or sound quality. In both cases, I paid roughly fifty dollars, which seems a bit exorbitant. However, this is to be expected with most brand-name iPod accessories. If you use your iPod while working out, cycling or walking as much as I do, you are certain to get your money's worth nonetheless.
Pros
Great for use during exercise
Durable
Cons
No non-lanyard mode
Difficult to use during bench press due to bar impact
Little sound isolation
Overpriced
Great for the Gym!.......2006-12-25
I am not the kind of person who likes a band strapped around my arm, so these headphones are the perfect solution for me. I love being able to listen to music at the gym without having to find a pocket for my Nano or getting tangled up in long headphone cords. The adjustable lanyard keeps my Nano easily accessible for effortless music and volume adjustments and is quite comfortable. I can't imagine my Nano without this.
Typifies the best and worst of Apple: excellent innovation, but maddeningly proprietary design.......2006-10-23
The paramount consideration for all prospective buyers of these Apple lanyard/headphones is this: You can ONLY use the supplied (and irrevocably-attached), Apple-brand ear buds. This raises two important considerations: 1) Apple's ear buds, ultimately, sound undistinguished, fit in the ear poorly and last a few weeks to several months before failing/beginning to fail; 2) You will have no (ordinary) ability to replace (or upgrade from) Apple's integral ear buds because the USB-connector fully engages the bottom edge of the Nano -- including, of course, the 1/8" headphone jack.
Now, anticipating this, I have resolved to either dismantle the lanyard base and solder a new headphone cord to Apple's 1/8" male plug (which is integral with the lanyard base), or I will use a cut-off wheel to remove enough of the lanyard base so that the Nano headphone jack is now accessible to any 1/8" plug. But then I will have to use electrical tape to wrap (and secure) the lanyard base and bottom edge of my Nano so that it doesn't pull away after having cut a third of it off.
Despite all of this, I still award three stars to Apple for the sheer innovation of this product. Plus, I bought it while being fully aware of the modifications ahead of me.
Only for the OLD Nano.......2006-10-04
These are part# MA093G/A -- Apple iPod Nano Lanyard Headphones for the 1st generation Nano ONLY.
For a new 2nd generation Nano, you need part# MA597G/A -- Apple iPod Nano Lanyard Headphones for the 2nd generation Nano ONLY.
The different Nano generations are different sizes and the lanyard connector are NOT interchangable.
Still outstanding after 9 months.......2006-09-02
I've been using the nano lanyard since it first came out and absolutely love it. It provides a very elegant way to listen to the nano without any extra clutter or dangling loops of wire to get in the way, snag or tangle. Basically, while wearing it, it's as though it's not even there. The connection is quite secure and takes a purposeful effort to detach. I don't see how a nano could fall off unless the connector were not pushed on fully to begin with.
I have only a couple of complaints/suggestions regarding the lanyard:
1. You're tied to standard Apple earbud sound quality. When I want to use my Etymotic ER6i buds, I lose the benefit of the lanyard. It would be great to have a higher-fidelity version or to have the buds themselves be detachable/swappable via a lightweight connector.
2. The lanyard does become dirty from rubbing against ones skin after many months, just like any article of clothing. I needed to wash mine (in a small bowl of detergent water, keeping the connector and buds out of the water) after a few months to keep them looking new and "un-gross."
3. Incompatible with the new Nike+ kit, meaning I can't walk with the lanyard and track the exercise. It would be nice to develop a lanyard either with the Nike+ built-in or with a pass-through 30-pin connector to allow it.

Would think twice............2007-12-04
I bought these because I really liked the lanyard so the iPod could hang around my neck when I exercised. That is a great feature BUT, the Right headphone stopped working about 4 months after I bought these. I bought another pair and eventually the Right headphone, again, stopped working. The sound volume isn't good either!! Unfortunately, I bought mine at a big box retailer for $49.99. Do yourself a favor and buy a pair of $20 headphones where BOTH headphones will work and the volume is MUCH better!
