Works as intended.......2007-12-22
Bought this PNY RAM to supplement what came with a Toshiba Sattelite 1200 laptop. There were no issues with the installation nor the stability of this system. PNY is a reputable company and the RAM works great.
find another vendor!.......2007-08-26
delayed 6 days before shipping. emailed and and took 6 more days to reply. reply stated "they were very busy and even office staff is working on shipping" no excuse for the delay of email reply. insufficiently prepared for success, so don't so don't burden with it!
Didn't work even though it was suppose to!.......2007-07-30
I purchased this memory for my laptop as my specifications met it. I even went to the manufacturer (PNY) website and used the configurator to check and see if this memory would work with my laptop. When I received the product, my computer wouldn't turn on when I installed the memory. So PNY did an exchange for me since I thought the memory may be defective. I received the new memory and the same result happened. The customer service was unable to explain it, they said it's the memory required for my laptop and should work...their only solution was to exchange it again, which I see no point. VERY disappointed and frustrated that for some freak reason this memory will not work with my system. I would say to double check before you buy, but I did all that and still ended up with memory that doesn't work. As most reviews say, it works great...just wished I could have had the same result!
careful research before ordering.......2007-07-14
I bought a Sony laptop 5 years ago. It had 256MB SDRAM and was installed with XP Home. It worked well but recently I cannot endure its slow response -- opening a picture could take tens of seconds. I reinstalled the XP Home and only the applications I often use to make it as light-loaded as possible but its performance is still poor. The hard drive light keeps flashing showing me it is using virtual memory to do its work. Having decided to upgrade with more physical memory, I googled several sellers' websites. Some websites gave me the right information while some gave me wrong. Knowing my laptop is 384MB expandable, I was thinking about a 128MB memory because I already have 256MB. But with more research, I found that I have only one slot on the board and 128MB of my memory is in-board and non-removable, which means I have to get a bank of 256MB to replace the 128MB currently occupying the slot. I also found the manual of my laptop and verified that I need a 256MB SO-DIMM PC133 SDRAM. Ultimately I came to Amazon and found the rating and price for this PNY memory is pretty good. I got it on hand three days after the order. Impatiently installing the new memory, I was so happy to see the 384MB in the system information and found the computer's performance greatly improved. My experience:
1. Find out which clock frequency you need. Normally 1GHz and above CPU needs PC133 memory (133MHz); while less than 1GHz computer needs PC100 memory (100MHz). You cannot get an unfit frequency memory to work for your computer.
2. Find out what type of memory you want. Pay attention to the total pins in your memory slot. Don't get a memory that you cannot insert into the slot.
3. Find out how many available slots you have. If you have a vacant one, you can insert it easily, and sometimes you may need to swap the memory banks between the slots so that all can be recognized by the motherboard; If you do not have a vacant slot, you may need to remove an existing memory bank and replace it with one with larger capacity.
4. Find out how large memory in each slot that your computer can support. If only 256MB is supportable for each slot, a bank of 512MB memory is a waste of money or even unusable.
5. Doing some research on the websites and if you have the computer manual, find the model and specification for the memory. Planning economically how many banks, how much size that you need to also use your existing memory.
6. Finally, searching the item that is matching your laptop and read customer review as possible. Make sure you don't pick a brand that is almost not working for everyone.
After all, normally only after you cut the package and install the memory in your computer will you find whether it works. I am not sure if it is still returnable since the package has been damaged. Even if you can return it, you will still pay the shipping fee or some 15% restocking fee. I believe you hate that kind of hassle. So why not spend more time investigating before making the order?
Smokes and good price.......2007-06-14
I had the choice to buy this memory or the same specs and different type from Dell. It was so much cheaper here. I used to have a hang-up about buying Samsung memory only. RAM either works or it doesn't so in the end what matters is compatibility and price. This works great!

went to pny website to determine the correct memory to use. Used the configurator online.... told me to use this memory. Would not work... called pny tech... said configurator was wrong and to use PC100 for my machine. Told tech configurator shows PC133... said configurator is not always correct... sent back and reordered Kingston... no problems with Kingston PC133.
I strongly recommend you call tech support before ordering PNY memory to minimize delays

I'll hesitate before choosing PNY memory again
Good luck to my brother geeks
PNY 256MB DIMM PC133 - Great in HP xt926 Computers!.......2006-03-11
After reading dire warnings in the comments about processors running under 1GHz not being able to use these chips, I went to the HP web site, checked out the specs for the xt926 computer that I am using and found that according to HP, the 133 would work just fine. I returned to Amazon, ordered two of the DIMMs, received them much sooner than expected, installed them in 10 minutes, and couldn't be happier with my upgrade.
