Fascinating.......2007-11-15
It's really amazing, the stuff this can do. This is your best friend if you're an engineer. Does pretty much everything numerical that you'll ever have to do. It takes a while to get used to it, and finding things for the first time can be rather painful, but once you do, it's extremely useful. I bought this to make my life easier on a circuits course I'm taking, and boy, this has REALLY helped. If you dont really need to use most of the features this calculator offers though, it might make sense to go for something else, since this does take a lot of getting used to.
Gift for 14 year old grandson.......2007-11-06
My grandson who is a freshman in high school was sharing an earlier version with his sister who is a senior. He did not have any trouble switching from the earlier version and is extremely happy with the TI-89 Titanium. I would recomment this for anyone who needs a graphing calculator.
Terrible UI: not for serious users; the entry line is far too small for complex equations........2007-10-19
The user interface on this calculator is terrible. Tabs on the top of the screen that you can't get rid of taking up a whole 15% of the vertical display (especially considering how small it is)? They should just use a button that drops down the tab bar when needed. This would free up a sizable portion of the screen that otherwise goes to waste if you don't need any of the functions listed in this tab bar at the top of the screen (which many users don't half the time).
But my main problem with this calculator is how utterly useless it is for writing equations larger than about 2 calculator screen widths (depending on how great your visual and spacial memory is). The equation entry line that you type into is only one line high and thus, when you're writing large equations (particularly anything with imaginary numbers as this tends to double the equation size), you often are using two and three screen widths for the equations. I find half of the time I spend using this calculator is spent scrolling back and forth making parenthesis adjustments. There's two speeds for scrolling left and right: all the way, or about 8 characters/second. Seeing as the text entry line is 25 characters long, when you're talking about editing 75 character equations you can easily spend 5 or 6 seconds navigating to a single section of the equation to make a change. If you need to make three or four adjustments editing a single equation easily takes 20 seconds when it should take half that. If this calculator had a "jump 6 characters left/right" it would make all the difference in the world. As it stands, this calculator is much more frustrating to use than my 83+. I would still use it if it could handle the kind of equations one turns to this sort of calculator for in the first place.
I will be looking around for a substitute calculator and update in the future when I find one, but rest assured if you're building any complex equations you MUST write down the full equation on paper first with parenthesis or you will probably input it wrong like and spend 45 seconds scrolling back and forth trying to figure out which of the 7 nested parenthesis you've made a mistake in. Even then, if you have to go back and change the numbers or add a value you'll still be wasting valuable [test?] time scrolling back and forth. At any rate, you shouldn't be limited to writing down the equation first on paper before solving; on an 83+ you can build the whole equation right there and quickly make any adjustments, but alas the 83+/86 can't do these complex integrals.
Yes, this calculator can integrate for you and do all sorts of wonderful graphs and integrations, but the kind of integrations you need a calculator for are NOT one line equations! You can do S(x^2) in your head; but it seems this kind of equation is chiefly what the calculator was designed for. I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
I hope this review has helped you make the right decision.
TI-89 Titanium.......2007-10-11
Hi, I go to Clark College. I have passed every one of my math classes with an A. I am taking Calculus I, which is my fourth math class in college and part of my major, which is Paper Science and Engineering.
My teachers usually want students to bring their graphing calculators to class, so the students can learn and succeed. My teachers also show students how to use calculators to solve problems, so the students can get their things done efficiently. However, I'm not allowed to use my calculator on some questions on the tests, but I can get most questions answered correctly. Also, my teacher sometimes mark me down for only relying on the calculator to get the correct answers without showing my work. For example, in College Algebra during Spring term 2007, my teacher marked me down on one of the finding roots with imaginary numbers questions on my second test because I didn't show my work, but I answered the question correctly.
With my calculator, I got a score of 100% on every one of my tests, including the final, in College Algebra. Also, in Trig, I aced every one of my tests, including the final. Therefore, I got an A in every one of my college level math classes.
Good enough for me (too good for my math instructor).......2007-09-30
My first calculator in many years. It does a lot, so the learning curve is long, and for me, steep. After about a month, I'm feeling more confident, although there are more than enough options that remain a complete mystery to me (some of this is because the math itself remains a complete mystery to me).
I think it's a little too 'plastic' for the price, and will probably take what I would consider a small bounce and die on me sometime in the future. Hopefully after my two math classes are finished.
In my (college) Trigonometry and Analytic Geometry class the instructor won't let me use it on tests because it is 'too powerful.' Right. But I figure anyone who had actually figured out how to cheat using this calculator probably wouldn't be in this class. In the Calculus I class the instructor has no problem with my calculator. Go figure.
I'm also amazed at how slow it is when it draws a graph. Are the graph drawing brownies inside this thing unionized or something? But we're still only talking about seconds, not minutes, so perhaps it's just that I'm used to instant gratification.
All in all, I'm sorry I had to blow so much money on a calculator, but happy I got this one, even though the instructor thinks it's 'too much power' for me to be trusted with. Hopefully I can work my way up to using it at its highest potential before I spill coffee on it and thus send it to an early grave.

UGH! I agree, this thing is NEVER going to ship!! I am now looking at similar products. Not happy about this AT ALL!
Will it ever arrive???.......2007-02-06
Shipping in 4 to 6 weeks? Try 4 MONTHS (maybe)! after waiting 6 weeks for it to be shipped, I am now told it will be another month or two before it ships. A Christmas present is turning out to be more of an Easter present. And no explanation given for the delay. I can't love the headphones if I never see them.

My 2 1/2 year old loves it!!.......2007-12-25
My 2 1/2 year old got this from her grandma for christmas and she absolutely loves it. She only got it last night and she is already trying to imitate the dancers and has been watching it nonstop ever since then. I wish the DVD was a little longer though and some more actual princesses in it but other than that it is a great gift.
Fun!.......2007-12-25
I bought this for my niece for her 4th birthday. She wanted to play with it that first night and she loved it - as did her 5 year old sister. They have had Bella Dancerella products in the past and their Mom thought this version was great! Both girls are still enjoying this on a daily basis.
Fun but not instructional.......2007-12-04
Will your child learn to dance from this DVD: No.
Does Disney know how to milk Princesses for all their worth: Yes.
Should you buy this: Maybe.
As one review here states, don't buy this expecting to see unique animated footage of princesses dancing. There are clips here and there from various Disney movies but the majority of the footage is of an enthusiastic (and stocky!) woman accompanied by a phalanx of cherubic youngsters...dancing.
At first I was disappointed that the movie doesn't even attempt to teach any dance steps. The dance pad that comes with the set is used only in one song and then just barely to demonstrate Ballet's 1st through 3rd position. The wand that comes with the set is sturdy and cool but also doesn't factor into the video much. Still, our 4 year can't watch the video without the pad on the floor and the wand in hand.
So what you're left with is a fun video for the kids to (attempt to) dance along to. The dances are fast but after a few watches our daughter was doing her best to imitate the moves and begging us to dance with her. At least it's something that will get kids off the couch. I would guess that older children might be disappointed with the lack of instruction but younger ones will probably enjoy flailing around while they enjoy the video. In the end you have to admit that no DVD is going to be able to teach very young children to dance anyway.
Also note that the dress on the box does not come with the set.
4 year old loves this!.......2007-11-27
My 4 year old loves this! She follows along with the actions, loves the music, and likes to watch the movie snippets that are integrated. It's nice that the DVD gets them dancing and moving. It shows girls her age dancing as well as the "leader" who is an older girl. Contains the best songs from the Disney princess movies.
But there are no dancing princesses.......2007-11-04
I have a very disappointed 4 year old. She took money to the toy store and was able to pick one item. After much deliberation, this was the clear favorite. Once home, I was sitting behind her while she stood on the mat expectantly and could watch her shoulders sinking. Finally, she turned around and said, "Mommy, when will the princess be on?" Except for a few scattered one and two second snippets, there are no princesses. Hoping that the DVD return policy doesn't apply to this toy.

Awesome!.......2007-12-18
Awesome calculator!
I brought it previously used. It's a necessity for College Algebra!
One thing I might add in, if you can buy new, please do so. When you purchase something previously owned, it might not come with certain attachments.
The calculator I ordered was in perfect condition! I plugged in the batteries and it loaded within 1 second! One thing I really hate, is that the previous owner's name is ENGRAVED on the front and back of the calculator. I think people should stop doing that. Some masking tape and a marker is fine. I am really happy with my purchase. But the calculator is moaning in pain from the carving on his frontal pelvic area and back. Lol.
The shipping was incredibly fast too. My other order didn't even come yet!
Great buy!.......2007-11-29
I purchased this calculator for my son for his 9th grade honors math class. I would highly recommend the TI-83 calculator for high school students. This calculator has more than met his classroom and testing needs.
Marvelous graphing calculator for serious students!.......2007-11-17
I bought this calculator for my grandson who is a junior in high school, and he really enjoys using it. He is presently taking a precalculus course and also an engineering class offered to honors students at the local college. Consider this calculator for your high school student who is interested in higher math, engineering, and electronics!
Great calculator if you have the patience to learn to utilize it.......2007-10-10
I purchased this calculator for my algebra I and II courses (and found it helpful for chemistry as well). At first, I was a bit surprised by just how expensive calculators were nowadays, but after using it in class, I found out why - it is not just a calculator, but a mini-computer.
PROS: Very powerful. Speed-wise, it runs fine for my use, but they say the silver is faster. Can add in programs like polysmlt (which solves equations). Also does helpul scientific conversions and can determine significant figures.
CONS: Expensive. But, then again, you can always sell it after your schooling if you wont be using it again!
OVERALL: Very useful product, and since I had to buy a TI-83 or higher for my classes, I'm glad I got this model.
LOVE IT!.......2007-09-28
Saved tons of money buying this on Amazon! The condition is better than I expected so I am very happy!!

Customer Reviews:
With a few minor changes, the best financial unit ever made.......2007-12-07
This is my first ever review of any product. I own a lot of calculators. Mostly HPs (12C, 10B, 48GX, 49G+, 50G), a few Casios, Sharps, other specialized types. This is my first TI and it is a real nice piece of work.
In a nutshell, this is one spectacular business calculator. It looks good, feature rich (I can't think of anything I would want that it doesn't have), interesting interface. A total winner.
I ordered on June 5, 2007. It arrived June 12th. About $35 w/free shipping. I won't compare it with the HP12C. Have had the 12C for a long time. Always loved it. Faster, slower? Po-tAto, Po-tato.
With all the good things about this calculator, there are just a few things I'd change or add to it.
There are three glaring flaws that I can't believe they forgot.
1) No equivalent to the "EEX" key on the 12C. Or at least a "000" key that allows entry of thousands, millions, ... with one button press. This is a very annoying ommission for me. Keying in 3, 6, or more zeros is a real pain in the arse. This is an absolute must have feature.
2) A calculator with trig functions and no "PI" key? Duh!
3) No slide off hard cover? Very, very bad move.
Maybe a two line display would be nice. But I won't lose any sleep over that.
The rest for me is just key placement. Moving from upper right to lower left for power and clear? These keys are nearly always near each other. The "CE/C" and back arrow key also on opposite extremes. They should be clustered closer together.
The on/off key should also be a shifted key to avoid accidentally keying it when unit's in a pocket, or by a stray key press when working. One should have to take deliberate action to turn the calculator on or off. Matter of fact, you should have to "hold" the shift key and press the on/off key to turn the unit off.
The unit should also have the option (in setup) of using "continuous memory" or not. [Meaning when you manually shut the unit off, it comes back on where you left it, rather than clearing]
So, I would move the backspace key up one and make the "on/off" shifted above it. Then I would move the "CE/C" key where the backspace key is now. Move the "CLR WORK" key with the "CE/C" key. Then all the clear keys would be together. Now, where should that "PI" key go? How about shifted above the square root key? Then I would move the reciprocal ("1/X") key to the shifted position and make that key either an "EEX" or "000" key.
Now there would be an extra key left where the "CE/C" key was in the lower left corner. How about a "TIME" key? This calculator is nice enough that it should know what the time and date are. Yes? Matter of fact, it should be one of those self setting atomic types! Maybe a timer too.
Does the equals ("=") key need to be two (2) keys high? No big deal either way. (But no, it doesn't! Move +, -, X, / down one! Hmm. Another extra key. Maybe that could be where the "EEX" could go.)
Last request would be in the display options. On most HP scientific calculators, there is something they call "engineering notation". Basically it is "scientific notation" but grouped in multiples of (3). You know, kilo (E3), mega (E6), giga (E9), ... Has no one thought that this is also "money notation" too? Thousands, Million, Billions, ... Like some annual reports list "(in Thousands)"? Once in awhile a body might want to display like that too (Maybe a letter in the "indicators" along the top could be used. The "T" and "M" in "COMPUTE" could indicate thousands and millions? The "B" in "BGN" for billions?)
For me, this calculator, with these few changes, would easily be the new "world standard" for business calculators. And the trig functions are a nice touch too.
Great Product.......2007-12-06
This calculator is great, it can calculate all that I need and the inputs are simple to use, just scroll through and answer questions. Only problem is the soft case, the power button can be pressed by other objects in a book bag.
Good Stuff!!.......2007-12-01
Very good calculator, has good usable features and for the most part easy to use. Tons of stats, econ, math, bonds, and whatever else you would need. A good choice for us doing the CFA thing, and you know who you are:) In fact, when I started doing the studying I built everything in Excel so I could get the basics down, and then I could get use to using the calculator. For the most part it worked, I just struggled with getting a procedure down for the calculator. Bottom line, bye it it is a good one!!
Great Financial Calculator for CFA exam candidate.......2007-11-12
I am going to choice by this calculator because I read others reviews and compared to many retail stores and websites, Amazon offer best price.
This calculator works well so far.Althought I never use other fnancial calculators,I don't know how other Financial Calculators work. this calculator contains all functions that I need. if you are prepareing for the CFA exam, I would recommand you choose BAII Plus Professional. This calculator looks no difference with the BAII Plus but added more function.
As many siad, bottoms do not meet my standard.
However, for me, I think a 2-line screen Calculator is better.
Bad Buttons.......2007-11-12
This calculator has lots of functions, but I don't use it because the buttons are very sticky and do not always enter data without pressing very hard. I can press a button, and to my finger it feels as if the button is fully pressed, but nothing is entered. If I am using it I feel I must look at the screen carefully while I am pressing any keys to ensure that everything is entered. Very, very annoying. I just use functions in excel to do my finance homework which works a lot better.

Customer Reviews:
Good Device, but TX needs competition.......2007-08-12
The Ti-84 is a great tool, and is much easier to use than the product I used when in high school. As a stand-alone product review, I'd say this is great.
Aside from that however, a question. Why is it so darn big? For 1/2 the size you can get a powerful little computer in the form of a PDA or GPS-like device. I think TX needs serious competition to start innovating on design again.
great product.......2007-07-27
I bought this for my daughter (high school student). It was exactly as described. great service.
Great Graphing Calculator.......2007-03-18
This calculator has saved my life in College Algebra and I've been told will be even more helpful in my statistics class and Pre-Calculas class.
Very good for Statistics.......2007-02-12
This calculator is great for my intro statistics class. The setup is similar to the TI-83, but there is more memory and more functions. It processes data very quickly and clearly displays results. This calculator is great for statistics.
Great Choice!.......2007-02-06
I had a TI-86 for years and it died. I know many of my friends who had the TI-83 but I did not like it so when I came across this it sparked my interest. It does everything the TI-83 does and more. I am a college student and it does everything that I need. Great choice!

TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphing Calculator.......2007-10-18
My son to who I purchased the calculator for, wrote:
"Exactly what I needed. T1-84 silver is the calculator to get for school,
at least through Calc 1.
You may end up needing to upgrade to a T1 89 equavalent for future classes (like calc 2), but the 89 and its ilk are more expensive
and have a steeper learning carve (or so I've been informed).
If you are familiar with any of the older T1 graphing calcs, this one's super easy to learn and use. Recommended."
Awesome!.......2007-10-06
I was actually looking for a used calculator for class, but ended up buying a new one for the price of a used one. I got it in the mail just a few days after ordering. The caculator works well. I like the fact that I will be able to use this with a lot of my current and future classes in math and science. I plan on ordering more stuff I need for school from this web site from now on.
I am satisfied.......2007-09-22
I am satisfied. The product is excellent and I received it inside l estimated time. Excellent service. The calculator is very good for those who wish a professional instrument. I recommend it

Amazon.com Review
There are many inexpensive scientific calculators on the market, but few boast the two-line display and other advanced features users get with the TI-30x IIS. The display shows the equation you are creating on the top line, and the numbers or symbols you are currently entering on the second line. Once the equation is solved, the results are displayed on the second line, and you can use the four arrow keys on the front of the calculator to edit the original equation in any way you like for a recalculation. Better still, pressing the up arrow repeatedly lets you browse through a cache of dozens of previous calculations, meaning you can look back to see the answer to a problem you solved two minutes ago, two days ago, or whenever.
The device uses solar power when possible but can fall back on the internal batteries (which are included) if there isn't enough light. The buttons wiggle around a little too much and require a firm keystroke to register input, but the fact that input can be followed by looking at the output on the first line helps to cut down on mistakes. There is a shift key that doubles the functions of most buttons, and although the TI-30X IIS isn't festooned with as many buttons or functions as some other calculators we've tested in this price range, it's still very capable. There are three angle modes (degrees, radians, and grads), scientific and engineering notation modes, and even one- or two-variable statistical modes. Five variables can also be assigned to their own memory slots. The documentation is lacking, as everything is presented on a single folded sheet of paper, but Texas Instruments did manage to pack several illustrated examples on the page. The calculator comes with a snap-on cover that fits on the back of the device when you are using it. The calculator carries a one-year limited warranty. --T. Byrl Baker
Pros:
- Two-line display
- Relatively inexpensive
- Handles one- and two-variable statistical calculations
Cons:

Fantastic! Don't buy a graphing calculator!.......2007-10-16
Working towards BS in physics; after years of using my TI-86 I figured it'd be rational to get a solar backup just in case I was ever in a jam for an exam. Not needing something exceptional (yet) like a TI-89 or one with graphing capabilities (that I'd actually use), I settled on this bargain calculator. After I tried it out, I did some reflection and felt absolutely disgusted that I wasted ~$100 on my TI-86 when I could've gotten all I needed for
<$20, and of course by "need" I'm pointing towards saving time on simple time-consuming math. This calculator, meant to be my backup, replaced my TI-86. It has everything I need, is well laid out and doesn't require batteries.
I remember entering algebra in K-12 hearing "you'll need a TI-83+ graphing calculator"... oh my, what a lie! Honestly, this is all you will ever need if you're not going above and beyond calculus. Using a graphing calculator is also horrible practise for introducing algebraic concepts. Keep it simple and you'll learn more, not that this is necessarily a "simple" calculator! The main thing you won't have is graphing, the less important chapters of algebra to boot. Besides, how hard is it to plot a few points on a coordinate plane and draw lines? Things like polynomials you should be able to do with ease, unless you're one of those procrastinating/lazy types who could care less. I suppose if it's all too excruciating, spend the extra $50 and cheat yourself.
The only thing that caught me off guard was that my TI-30 cover is a dark blue instead of black, but I'm hardly complaining! Minus 0.1 star, but 4.9 stars rounds to 5.
Good calculator, flimsy case.......2007-09-14
This calculator has all the functions I need for a graduate level statistics class. I especially like the 2-line display, which makes it easy to type in long strings of numbers without forgetting your place. The only reason I failed to give this calculator 5 stars is the case. It is incredibly flimsy and leaves me with no sense of certainty that the calculator is safe bouncing around in my bag.
Great, Standard Scientific Calculator.......2007-09-05
When I was taking courses in calculus and physics, I used the TI-86 because it had more functions and was more powerful, for the kind of math that was needed.
However, the TI30XIIS is an excellent scientific calculator. It has most of the functions of a scientific calculator, with the scrollable screen that lets you check your numbers before multiplying, and perform many operations using the "Ans" function. As an organic chemist, it's the only calculator I need when it comes to doing simple chemistry calculations, which involve a lot of basic operations.
If you need to do derivates, integrals, polynomials, etc, then you should get something more powerful. If you just want a calculator to do your basic math yet allow you to check your numbers with ease, then this is a great calculator to have.
A Classic is Reborn.......2007-07-27
I purchased my first TI-30 in 1977 and carried in a drop holster with my slide rule, mechnacal pencils, and technical drafting pens. As the years went foward I retired on variant of the TI-30 for the latest, and every few years upgraded as I progressed in my profession.
The TI-30 has been an asset to the engineering business since the days it replaced slide rules as a portable calculator, and even today it remains on of the fastest and easiest pocket calulator to use by an engineer.
The larger beasts such as the TI-89 are fine for heavy lifting and complex transforms, but this variant of the TI-30 family is an superb buy for only a few dollars, and when the solar cell keep the power topped off so you don;t have to worry about batteries.
This, and a TI-89 should both be kept on your desk, or in your briefcase. One for the heavy lifting, ad the TI-30 for the lighter duty number crunching.
nice calculator.......2007-05-14
