This keypad is great for working with Quickbooks. Entering numbers is a breeze. It installed easily, with XP. Received quickly, even over the Christmas rush. Excellent response to inquirys. (Just a note... if you select 'standard shipping', there is no tracking number available.)

Slim, sturdy, multiplatform goodness.......2007-03-02
I bought the adesso keypad with intent to use it with Mac OSX and windows XP. The device works flawlessly, I couldn't be happier. Plus it is a well built, sturdy design, and doesn't take up too much space/weight. The retractable cord is a great space saver for storing, but like all retractable usb cables, I can't help but worry a bit about it's durability. All in all though, the adesso keypad is an excellent buy.
Works with Mac OSX 10.4.7.......2007-01-10
I plugged this in and the iBook tried to "identify" the keyboard; it couldn't, but I just chose the United States option and all was well. Not as stylish as the one offered in white, but for me it is purely functional and works great for the price.
Not bad at all........2005-02-15
I purchased this keypad for the purpose of gaming and performing live electronic music, not data entry.
It just arrived today, I opened the box, plugged it in and popped up metapad to try it out. So far, I'm quite pleased. However, the pressure required to press the keys is about four times what is needed on a normal laptop keyboard, and about twice what is needed on my klunky, classic desktop keyboard.
That said, I still love it. I wouldn't want to spend 2 hours punching numbers into a spreadsheet with it, but I'm confident it will perform quite well for my intended purposes. But, I am hoping that it breaks in a bit with use. Also, the flat, ribbon style, retracting cable works like a charm, and it's exactly the size and weight I'd hoped (I'll post a customer picture soon).
This thing is going to be great plugged into my laptop at shows, and I'm looking forward to playing my favorite space sim with a joystick in each hand and this thing just in reach without a full keyboard in the way. =D

Good, thin, and functional.......2007-10-05
Here's a quick version of my thoughts: It has extra keys that make the plus and zero keys the size of most other keys instead of their typical double size, the keys are harder to press than your typical laptop keys, and there's a disconcerting warning about lead. However, it's thin, looks nice and simple, has keys that feel more like those on a standard keyboard, and, most importantly, is a keypad! I like it a lot, and it's worlds better than any way of entering numbers on a numpadless laptop keyboard. And now, the gory details:
All the usual keys are there, but the designer seemed to think it would be a good idea to stick in two extra keys, cutting two others down to standard size in the process. If you get used to using the new backspace key instead of flipping your hand over to the main keyboard for all your error correction needs, I think it could be quite helpful. However, it takes over the minus key's usual spot, forcing it down to where the top half of the plus key should be. This took me a bit of getting used to, but if you're used to Mac keyboards, you'll be right at home. The other new key has only two purposes: to enter three zeros with a single keystroke, and to replace the right half of the normal zero/insert key. I don't think either purpose is very good, but hey.
Next up is that lead warning that another reviewer mentioned. It was a bit disconcerting, but I'm lazily hoping it's a warning along the lines of cancerous things in California and nut-free candy made in factories that use peanuts. But if you're concerned about this sort of thing, it's probably better to save yourself the trouble and do without.
As far as the general look and feel are concerned, I really like this thing. The tops of the keys only sit about 2cm above the surface the pad's sitting on, yet they depress about as far as a full-sized keyboard's would. If you've gotten into laptop keyboard mode, they feel like they require a lot of extra effort to press, but they feel pretty good otherwise. The only real oddity with the key pressing is that the numlock key doesn't toggle unless you let go of it within half a second. I have no idea what purpose that could serve, but there you go. The whole thing feels solidly built, and it doesn't have bulky protrusions and LCD screens all over the place. The two USB ports up top (which are great for my 3-port laptop) hold on very well to the devices you feed them. I usually have a wireless mouse receiver hooked up to one, and I've had no problems after attaching a bluetooth receiver or a printer to the remaining port. Other reviewers have had power-related problems, though, so if you have really hungry devices, plug them directly into your computer instead, if you can. Finally, it is a corded device, and the cord is about two and a half feet long. Plenty long unless you intend to use it as a remote control or want to use it with a desktop computer that's not on your desktop. I usually plug it into the left side of my laptop with the cord running around the back, and there's lots of slack left in it.
That's all I can think of. If you need a keypad and want something thin and clean-looking, this should do the trick.
Perfect!.......2007-09-22
This USB Numpad is absolutely perfect! I love it to death and use it daily. I'm a student at UPenn and I've got a lot of math and computer science classes that involve A LOT of numbers. Having a real numpad (not just the Fn+letters one on the laptop keyboard) makes calculations and number entry move much faster. People are impressed that I "actually know how to use one of those things." The two USB ports in the back are priceless to me; I could either have a numpad and a USB hub or just both in one...makes packing up the comp for class very quick and easy. Plus, I don't have to use the USB ports on the side of my computer any more...saves me some desk space. Oh, and I think the style goes well with my Toshiba laptop ;)
Wonderful.......2007-09-14
It's works very well and the two extra usb ports are an added plus to this laptop keypad.
Toshiba number pad.......2007-09-04
Excellent keypad, and I love the fact that it has two extra USB ports, though they're only 1.0 instead of 2.0. Exactly what I wanted for a great price.
Very nice little keypad.......2007-08-16
I bought this for my wife who has a Toshiba laptop, and she couldn't be happier with this keypad. She does a lot of data entry, and this keypad is comfortable to use, has a similar feel as her Toshiba laptop keyboard, and it's very easy to install. Just plug into a USB port and it works.
I highly recommend this keypad.

Great product.......2007-09-06
This keypad was perfect. It has large keys for larger hands. Simple and perfect for my purpose. I have already recommended it to a co-worker- she loved it too.
Great 10 key.......2007-08-07
I've had several keypads, each one lacking in one respect or another. This is the best I've found...good size keys, good spacing between keys, positive feel. Would recommend.
well constructed but not usable with Vista.......2007-03-23
Unfortunately, Lenovo has not yet seen fit to release a Vista-compatible driver, so the laptop's keyboard and the numeric keypad's number lock feature are in sync under Vista. In other words, if you want to type numbers on the numeric keypad (why else would you buy it?) using Windows Vista, the portion of your laptop's keyboard that substitutes for a numeric keypad will also type numbers. Obviously, for quick data entry, it quickly becomes annoying to have to constantly toggle the "Num Lock" key.
Targus makes a similar keypad that does include a Vista driver to avoid this annoying behavior, so that you can input text on your laptop keyboard and numbers on your numeric keypad. It does not, however, have the standard 10-key layout, which is the feature I like most about this model.
Updated (Sept. 2007): Lenovo has released a Vista driver for this keypad, so it now works as it should. You can activate Num Lock on the keypad and still type properly on the laptop keyboard.
Excellent replacement for laptop numeric pad.......2007-02-19
Entering numbers with the numermic keybad of a laptop is a joke. This product is good. Matches normal size and spacing of a regular keyboard.
Fine for the price.......2006-11-05
I bought this for use with an HP Pavilion laptop, and have had no trouble with it. I wish it had a delete or backspace button on it, but otherwise no complaints.

Good product.......2007-09-29
The Kensington Wireless Notebook Keypad and Mouse combo is an excellent product. The keypad has extensive calculator functions and both are excellent for anyone who has a laptop. The only disappointment was that the mouse is a bit small (about half the size of a regular mouse) - it would be well-suited for the hands of a child but is a bit clumsy in the hands of an adult. It's great that both products have an off feature which allows for extending the battery life. I highly recommend this product.
Poor Quality.......2007-04-11
The mouse works fine. The keypad is pretty much crap. The rubber anti-skid things on the bottom came off the first time I used it and the plus and minus keys no longer work. I haven't even tried all of the keypads functions yet to see if they work, as I've only had it about 2 weeks. I'm returning it.
I do like however, that both the mouse and keypad have an auto off feature after a short period of not being used.
Must Have Line of Sight or Pigtail.......2007-03-22
Works great if you have right side usb port, (if you are right handed).
Used on my other laptop the port is in the back and the calculator becomes almost useless. The mouse seems to work better, but both work really well with side port. Lefthanders with right side port, forget it unless you have usb pigtail. A good point is the units turn themselves off after inactivity.Turning the mouse back on requires two hands depressing scroll wheel and depressing small button on bottom at the same time.

not bad.......2007-10-30
This keypad was thicker then I thought it would be. The keys are slim but you have to press the keys down really far. After a day of using this, I went to Walmart and got a different one for $10.

Customer Reviews:
Thi is my second time with Genovation, they are excellent.......2007-03-10
I needed a numeric keypad for Vista. I had used a Genovation serial numeric keypad with WinME and WinXP. It had been terrific for many years. When It would not run in Vista, I called Genovation and got a recommendation of the 630, USB, and no driver, it's just like another keyboard.
The product is just plain excellent. But I went to Amazon because retailers on their list in my area were unresponsive. I had my keypad, with free shipping, in just a couple of days.
Avoid if you still run MS-DOS programs!.......2006-03-26
This keypad requires a special program to be loaded so that the numlock on the keypad is unsynchronized with the notebook keyboard. With that program loaded your computer will lock up when you try to run an MS-DOS application. You must then reboot the machine. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this defect until after my 30 day return period had passed. Surprisingly Targus and Kensington have engineered keypads that don't require a separate program to unsynch the keypad numlock from the keyboard. Their keypads work fine under MS-DOS based applications and cost much less.

Not good for me.......2007-11-22
I bought it thinking it was the solution for my non numeric keyboard in my notebook. The truth is that because it moves (because it is not part of the computer) it is difficult to find at first when you need it. It didn-t work for me. I need to extend my hand without looking where the pad is. Numbers are not that strong either.
Misleading and disappointing.......2007-07-16
This was the cheapest keypad I could find, and I certainly got my money's worth. It's advertised as a Mac-compatible device, a statement that is supported by the list of Mac requirements on the packaging. Yet the device doesn't work consistently with my Mac, and their technical support agents say it's not a Mac-compatible device.
Seeing how it's the year 2007, any USB device that isn't platform-independent isn't really acceptable. If you're a Mac user, stick to the old faithfuls: I ended up going with a Kensington number pad, and it's worked great.
Only for keying in numbers in a document.......2004-12-06
I own a laptop and sometimes I need to use characters that require the use of alt+a number. This keypad does not interact that way. Very limiting!
EASY DATA ENTRY FOR YOUR LAPTOP.......2004-06-12
This device was a Godsend. I don't do that much data entry, but this keypad greatly increased my productivity when working with spreadsheets and data bases on my laptop.
It worked perfectly with my Dell laptop runing Windows 2000 as soon as I plugged it in. I didn't need to install any drivers or other software.

Excellent Product.......2007-07-16
I have been using Genovation keypads for at least 15 years. They are stronger and more durable than any other external keypad that I have used.
A great product for the price.
Stay away!!!.......2007-01-09
Were do I start???
Frist,we couldn't get it to work on our Dell notebook.
Second, called (Genovation)twice by phone and they didn't call back.
Third,I e-mailed them THREE times.Didn't hear from them.
So Amazon (they were GREAT!) took it back for full credit and shipping cost.
Here's the kicker.About four weeks after I got another one (different Co.) I get a call wanting to know what the problem was.
I told them and the person said they were really busy.Told them got another product and he said ,"Oh Well".
Surprisingly wonderful for gamers.......2006-08-06
This device, though intended for notebook number crunchers, is worth it's weight in gold to gamers. It's surprisingly liberating to move away from the WASD control scheme and use this nifty little device instead. Other brand devices require a driver (and may be better suited to notebook use) but this ugly little gray box plugs straight in and just works - perfect for gaming. It's also much sturdier than many competitors and has full-size, full-range keys (not notebook style flat keys).
