The Streamlight Twin-Task 3C has a very admirable battery life and excellent power for everyday and critical use. The one thing I do not like about it is that you do not have the option of turning on any combination of lights directly from the off position. You must go through the sequence of modes to reach the one you want.

Features and Performance
Both the flashlight and the laser pointer are easy to use--simply snap on and point. They're also free of buttons and switches, turning on when connected and turning off when removed. And because they draw their power from the iPod itself, users don't need to worry about batteries.
We tested the flashlight attachment first, and it performed nicely. It emits a moderate amount of light with a relatively soft, wide beam. The beam certainly wouldn't make it as a camping flashlight, as it's too diffused to light a clear path, but it's more than adequate as a keychain-type light. iPod owners will find it particularly effective when they need to examine items in poorly lit rooms, such as the words written above the buttons on stereo components.
The laser pointer attachment, which is equipped with a class IIIa laser, works even better. Whether you're using it to enhance a PowerPoint performance or merely entertain your restless kitties, the bright red laser shows no signs of dimming. This was touted as good with "all dockable ipods"but does not work with Ipod video, etc. I gave it away to someone with an older ipod. There needs to be a slot next to the earphone jack for this to work. Ad is deceptive!

Okay, so go ahead and laugh at me. Only a cat person could turn an iPod into a toy for their pet, but it works great! I hated paying over $21 for batteries to fill up the laser pointer for my cat every month. This is such a great solution. No batteries needed because the iPod just recharges in the dock.

I got this as a Christmas present, and the person buying it knew what IPOD I had (IPOD Video), but there is nothing on this page or on the packaging to indicate what versions of the IPOD it works with. So disappointed! Amazon needs to modify the item description to indicated which versions of the IPOD this works with and which it doesn't.

The main problem is battery life, but that is not a huge obstacle for brief uses.
I put the lanterns on my car key chain. It's convenient, and the torch or flash light really comes in handy in places like Disney World or the road at night when looking at maps: focused light is better than overhead car light.
Also, the torch or flash light is brighter than is generally credited. It will not work as a fully functional lantern, but if it's dark enough to warrant a lamp, you can see the ground with 20/20 vision.

Mine is extremely bright.. the flashlight and the laser. I have a couple cats and one really likes to play with it and chase the laser around. The entire thing has a nice heft to it and feels very durable. I was out in the pitch dark viewing the Perseid meteor shower two consecutive night a few days ago.. once up on top of a hill and the next night out in the middle of a field. There was no moon and no streetlight of any kind. The flashlight lights up a very large area, almost like a wide beam spotlight (that you plug into your car) but not quite as bright obviously. The laser lights up street signs miles away the road. I have to make sure not to keep the laser pointed on one spot while playing with that cats, they will just stare at the beam, and while it is not directly in their eyes, it is extremely bright just looking at the spot it makes- I don't want to blind the poor things.. so remember keep the beam moving if playing with your cats! LOL Oh, Amazon and Cyberguys rock..

I use this product mostly as a laser pointer, but it's nice to have the flashlight included for those unforseen moments when you need one. The case is metal, feels substantial, and has good quality throughout. It has functioned flawlessly for me. I like it better than the laser pointer pens because it is larger, harder to lose, and easier to use during presentations. Great product.

While I can't use the laser pointer anywhere within 50 miles of an airport anymore, nor can I use it to "induce a cat to excerise" (US Patent #5,443,036), it works well as a laser pointer. Beam was brighter than I had expected. While the flashlight LED wasn't as tight of a beam as I had hoped, it was far brighter and whiter than I thought. I've had a few people ask me if I really intende to bust out my iPod for board meetings. Yes...ANY chance I get to bring my iPod to a boring, stale-air closed meeting...you bet I will. If this product provides you with that excuse, it is well worth the money.
