You can't beat the price.......2007-12-07
The headphones rock because: The bass response is nice and heavy. The aluminum ear pieces are rugged. It comes with some adapters and a nice extension. The ear adapters seem to fit my ears pretty well and do block out most ambient sound.
They suck because: The extra weight of the metal earpieces make them slightly more likely to wiggle out of your ear. While the bass response is good, it may be slightly too heavy. The adapter are great but they left out a 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter... why would you leave that one out? isn't it the most useful adapter out there (odd choice). I worry that the cable will fray or wear where it exits the ear buds. A enforced cable coming out of the ear buds would have been a smart move.
If you like your music bass heavy and you don't intend to exercise with these, you've got the right pair.

This is an update of review I wrote on September 29, 2007:
The first version of these earphones I received broke Within 2 weeks of standard use - both ear buds. need less to say I was not happy or impressed. However, when I wrote Maximo to complain, I have to say their Customer Service was extremely helpful and VERY hands-on in trying to address my concerns and make sure I got a replacement set of earphones as quickly and as hassle-free as possible.
I have held off on revising this review because I wanted to try out the new phones for a few weeks and see if the would hold up. The product looks great and performance-wise the replacements have been very good. The low-end response is decent for in-ear style headphones and can be improved by experimenting with the other two size of ear buds included with your headphones.
Overall, if you're looking for a low-cost alternate with decent performance to some of the more costly in-ear phones in the market like the BOSE ones, these are definitely worth your consideration. Amazon won't let me do it for some reason but I would upgrade my rating on the earphones from 2 to 3 (maybe 4) stars if I could.

Happy with my choice.......2007-07-05
After getting these IM-390 earphones, I tried them against my buddy's higher price range Etymotic ER6i and similar priced Sony MDR EX71 earphones just to make sure I made the right choice. I'm pretty happy with my choice. Compared to the Sonys, the IM-390s are much cleaner with fuller base. Against the Etymontics, the sound comes out about equal. The Etymotics had slightly nicer base, but I still found the IM-390s sound cleaner. The Etymotics also have multi-prong foam eartips the kinda felt like they were invading your brain thru your eardrums. The IM-390s are comfortable over several hours of wearage.

Suprisingly Good.......2007-07-30
I can't do the in-ear headphones so I searched for something in this style. There aren't too many choices so I was willing to settle a little. These headphones surprised me. They sound very crisp and detailed and seem very well made. The bass response is a little restrained even with the iPod EQ adjusted but that is my only complaint. The accessories are a nice bonus at this price.

The item came in poorly sealed packaging, I was surprised it didn't fall apart. The item also looks like a knock-off version of advertised products. Guess the seller didn't explicitly say the product was made by Apple, but packaging, picture, etc tried to make it seem like it was. Bottom line: spend a few extra bucks at another vendor.

Do Not Buy From myGearStore! Learn from my mistake........2006-01-12
First of all, I did order from myGearStore.com as last reviewer suggested. It was packaged in the wrong box which was for the Apple headphones with remote. These were just Apple headphones rewrapped poorly and stuffed in the wrong box. Also note that the headphones sent to me were the older version without the pull mechanism that prevents tangling. This version of the headphones has not been available for over a year. New Apple headphones come with 2 sealed sets of foam covers, this box contained 1 set that wasn't sealed. Amazon should reconsider having myGearStore do business with them. I am forced to give a 1 star rating because a 0 wasn't available. I am sending a copy of this review, along with a letter, to Apple Computers. They too should be aware that someone is deceitfully selling their product. These weren't even discounted. Apple, along with most stores, sell the correct headphones for the same price. This is clearly a sneaky way to get rid of an old, possibly used, product. Very dissapointing.

I picked these up for $10 while waiting for my Sony MDR-XD400's to be repaired. And while the sound of these cannot compare to those, these are amazing considering the price. The bass isn't that strong, nor are they especially loud, but such things cannot be expected from cans at a price like this. I would recommend these to anyone who does not expect audiophile quality from their phones, or if you need decent headphones at a good price.
