have had this for 3 yrs now. works great. easy installation. sometimes the receiver doesn't pick up keyboard/mouse signal when there is no line of sight path (like when the rcvr is hidden beneath the table). but that's something u can work around by plaing it on the table/monitor. otherwise works great. not sure abt 30$ price on amazon though!
An okay, but not good keyboard/mouse set.......2007-10-07
My old keyboard had died on me, so I immediately needed a new one seeing that I use the computer quite a bit. I decided on getting a wireless one, and looked through the Sunday ads to see what kinds of deals that I could find. I had originally another keyboard/mouse set in mind to buy, which was at Office Depot, but I was at Walmart for other things, and just happened to see this combo for an even better deal, so I got this one.
This one is okay, but there are some things that I don't like about it. On the keyboard, there is no caps lock, num lock, and scroll lock indicator, which isn't too bad, until the caps lock accidentally gets on, and you are trying to type in a case sensitive password that is returning an error message when you are unknowingly typing it in caps when the password is lower case and vice verse. Also, the extra keys at the top get stuck easily. The volume up, volume down, and volume mute keys on my keyboard got stuck quickly since I use them frequently, and I have to press down hard to get those keys to work. Other than these, the keyboard works decently, and the batteries last a long time in it, as I haven't had to change the batteries since I got it.
As far as the mouse goes, it eats batteries quickly. I didn't expect the batteries to run down as quick as they did. I have to change them about every 10 days, which is a pain and costs a lot of money for batteries. Another thing that I don't like is that the mouse pointer will randomly jump around the edges of the screen quickly, which has caused me to accidentally close windows that I didn't want closed, really irritating me. The only good thing that I can think of about the mouse is that it is comfortable in my hand.
All in all, I would not recommend this keyboard/mouse set. You would be better off spending a little bit more on another one, something that I wish I would have done in the first place.

Got same model from WM @ a cheaper price. Need to replace batteries for the mouse after 2 weeks & keyboard 2 months even if I place them 10 feet way from the usb receiver.
Pro: cheap, same as wired keyboard (if you have new batteries (2weeks))
con: need to turn off the mouse to calibrate the keyboard with the receiver 2 times in the last 3 months; problem with my wifi system (802.11b,g); can't place the mouse,keyboard & receiver near metal;

Have had this combo about 2 months, and already the keys are sticking down. Have to pry them up. At other times, key strikes don't register at all. The touch is good for most of the keys, and then others have to be hit quite hard. Save your money, and get a different product. Giving this a very poor rating.

LOVE the mouse. The keyboard takes some getting used to as the keys are flat and it is difficult to keep your fingers "home". I've noticed an increase in errors since I started using this keyboard. I'll keep trying it for a while to see if I adjust. Otherwise, I'll go back to traditional keyboard.

I purchased this product for use in my family room and as such needed a wireless keyboard that worked from a distance of 15 ft or more. The keyboard and mouse work as promised with no noticeable lag in input time. The mouse feels comfortable and is easy to use. The keyboard takes some getting used to as the keys are very flat, but after some use the difference was not noticeable.
I would recommend this combination to anyone who needs a reliable unit that works over long distances.

One problem thou... the rechargeable batteries stopped working after 2 months use.

I bought this because I needed a long-range wireless keyboard/mouse to use with my media PC (where I sit on the couch, about 10ft from the TV).
It worked with Windows XP without requiring any drivers (although I did install the ones that came on the CD later). The keyboard is somewhat thin and feels nice. However the keyboard has 2 flaws. First, sometimes it does not connect to the receiver, so you need to manually connect it (happens rarely). The MAJOR FLAW is that sometimes when I press a key on the keyboard, the receiver thinks I'm HOLDING that key. So, if I'm writing text, and press "t", the receiver interprets it as "ttttttttttttttttt" and will keep on typing "t" unless I press "t" again. Since I mainly watch videos on my Media PC, when I press the button to skip 20 seconds, the keyboard makes the video keep on skipping forever unless I press that same key again! It's pretty much like an old keyboard with glue-like sticky keys.
The mouse is average, since it's not very sensitive (low dpi sensor) which isn't important unless you're into gaming or plan to use this keyboard/mouse combo on a PC requiring precision movement. One problem I had was after installing the drivers, you can customize the mouse to use 5 buttons (which it has). But if you select 5-button setup, the scroll button doesn't work when you browse your files on Windows Explorer/My Computer. But if you set it to 3-button setup, it works. So I guess there are some issues there as well! Only advantage I'd say is ergonomics.
My advice is stay clear of this keyboard, unless you seriously need the range on the mouse (not the keyboard, since it has too many flaws).

Terrific Little Speaker with Clear, Strong Sound.......2007-09-07
After reading several dozen consumer reviews describing laptop speakers I puchased this one. You simply plug it into your laptop, or USB hub, swivel the gooseneck to position the speaker where you want, and you've got an excellent speaker that fits in a small laptop utility bag.
The only complaint I have is that there is no quick volume control; once you've plugged it into your USB port, it overrides the laptop's volume control "knob". You have to open the volume icon in your Control Panel every time you want to adjust the speaker volume, which can be too slow when you're being blasted by a loud video.
This is not to say that there is anything wrong with the volume modulation in the speaker itself, just that there seems to be a wide volume range across items I view--YouTube, email messages with videos from friends, etc.
If this speaker had a volume control knob it would be perfect!
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DELL LAPTOPS.......2007-09-02
After several weeks of light, mid-volume use, the speaker stopped working on my Dell Latitude D500 and I began receiving error messages noting a "device malfunction". After trading emails with J-Lab customer service, I was instructed to return the speaker by mail (at my expense) for a refund. The refund I received was 80% of the original purchase price because, according to J-Lab, the device was still "working" upon receipt. The representative handling the return acknowledged that there has, in fact, been a history of compatibility issues with Dell laptops-- in other words, a "working" speaker may not always operate correctly when connected to a Dell laptop. Is trying this speaker on your Dell worth the risk of paying two sets of shipping charges, losing 20% of the purchase price, and spending time emailing representatives and repacking/mailing the device? If not, maybe it's worth considering alternatives.

We bought this speaker for our Gateway M505 Media Laptop on a recent trip. The M505 has reasonable speakers for a laptop, but their volume level isn't quite strong enough for us to be happy--we'd always find ourselves straining to hear dialogue from movies.
From reading the reviews I honestly thought this would solve our problem in a nifty self-contained USB-powered fashion.
For us it didn't.
We found the speakers to be nearly identical to the M505 speakers, and while the B-Flex did give us the tiniest improvement in volume, it wasn't enough to really give us adequate volume, or the "big sound" many reviewers have mentioned. Also, there is no way a speaker the size of these can give the kind of frequency response any level of audiophile would be happy with.
So, who should try out this speaker? If you have standard tinny sounding laptop speakers (the almost nonexistent kind), these will be a big improvement. Also you will like the fact that it is USB powered so no batteries, no cords are needed.
However, having said that, I really think the bottom line is, to get truly better sound, you need to use a powered speaker. I think some of the JBL's may be the way to go.
For cost of these guys, unless you catch them on sale, my advice is to keep looking. We had to return ours. (Thanks to Amazon a really fair & generous return policy).

My boyfriend bought me this speaker. It is plug-and-play. On my computer, often movies are not loud enough for some reason and with this speaker it's as loud as we could possibly want. Also I can blast my music throughout the house from my laptop - before I could not because it sounded horrible at high volumes.
I'm not much of a sound expert, but I think it sounds pretty good.

Unless your laptop's soundcard is not working, or your speakers are barely hearable I wouldn't recommend this. Odds are your laptop does as much as these speakers.

I like the sound of mine so much I bought one fo my friend for his birthday. It's not super loud but you can listen to music from your mac, with good quality. Just plug it into your USB port. My friend loves his too. He uses his all the time. Great for travel.

I really thought the reviews for this item were probably a little over-blown, but the speakers have proven me wrong. As someone who primarily uses their laptop on the go, I have been looking for a set of small, easily transportable, decent sounding speakers. These fit into all three categories. I am pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the sound that they put out. If you're strictly an audiophile, you'd be better off investing in a good set of Bose headphones, but if you need something to quickly and efficeintly plug and play so other people can hear what is on your laptop, then you won't find a better buy for your money.

Good for PC bad for PS3.......2007-02-11
The keyboard was design for the living room or classroom. The keyboard is compact and sturdy. It is strong enough to sit on your lap or grip with two hands to the side. What I like is the very responsive keypad. The mouse pad is convenient and is like a game console controller joystick. I returned this after the compatibility issues with the PS3, but works fine on a PC. For the PS3 I loose sign after exiting the PS3 web-browser and have to reset the keyboard many times. There are trigger buttons in the front.
There are Bluetooth rechargeable keyboard from Logitech. The RF range on this pad is good. It is at a great price but need to more compatible with the PS3. Interlink's Versapoint is very similar and twice as much but it works on the PS3 and PC, but its mouse is not as good as this one.

I bought this tonight in order to replace a wired keyboard with a wireless one. What a big mistake. The thing randomly picks up your keystrokes. So when you are typing you have to constantly watch the output and go back of hit keys multiple times to get a response. I thought that maybe something else was interefering with the wirless so I tried different rooms, etc. the mouse seems to work fine.
I finally got so frustrated that I broke the keyboard in half and threw it away. Buh-bye $$$$$.
Don't waste your money like I did. On the other hand, if you need cheap therapy, buy this try to use it and then break it like I did.

The only thing that warrants giving this product 1 star is the fact that the seller shipped it fast. Kudos to them, it's not their fault the product doesn't perform.
Published range should be 5 feet. It is exactly 8 feet from my chair to the receiver and I cannot get it to work. If I move a foot closer and tilt the keyboard toward the sky I can get it to work. Now I have to sit right next to the receiver and I have to look at my screen (flat panel plasma) from about a 15 degree angle. The performance is absolutely horrible even when it works! I cannot describe how bad this is.
