Great mouse for the price.......2007-12-09
I ordered this mouse to use with my Powerbook four years ago. I have now used it with three computers total and it has finally bitten the dust. A part snapped inside of it after being dropped a few too many times. For $30, this is a great mouse.
EHHH.......2007-09-26
It says five stars, but I'm giving it three. I got this mouse in September (now it's December, so I have had it for 3 months. I am writing this because my opinion of the mouse has changed since the review I wrote before (below). Recently, the mouse just sucks. It barely works. And it's not the batteries. But what might be contributing to it is my Dell Inspiron 1521. The built-in Bluetooth is not always great at detecting the mouse. When it does work, it's alright. But on the whole it's just a huge hassle. I don't recommend it nor do I recommend Dell laptops. Here is my previous review:
This is an absolutely excellent mouse. However, it's performance seems to be very sensitive to your specific system and use. I bought this for my new Dell Inspiron 1521, which has a duel-core processor and came Bluetooth enabled. I wanted something small, completely cordless and plug free just to avoid using the touchpad. For my purposes it's perfect, as there is enough processor power for it and I'm not running any processor intensive media editing programs or what have you.
Physically, the mouse is of good quality. It feels comfortable in the hand and is not flimsy. I love the design as well. Perhaps the only downside is that it doesn't come with a USB recharger. As for battery life, I have only owned it for about 2 weeks so it's difficult to tell. (It hasn't died yet, so that's a good sign).
Performance-wise:
-The tracking is precise, random mouse drifting occurs occasionally but not significantly more than with the plug in ball tracker mouses. I love that I don't have to move the mouse a lot to get the cursor from one side of the screen to another. It's much better than those traditional ones that you'd have to pull all the way off your mousepad before it got you where you wanted it to go. Is that what the DPI indicates? Others expressed their concerns about gaming, but I don't see anything inhibiting about this mouse. It's fast and accurate.
-pairing was very easy. At first I didn't know how to make the mouse recognizable after waking it up and I was frustrated at having to pair it every time I wanted to use it, or wait 15 minutes for it to suddenly become recognized. But after reading some reviews I learned all I had to do was click it and it woke up again, instantly recognized by the PC. It seems that the method varies between computers, however.
The other aspect I love is being able to use it on any surface. Sometimes I like to use it on my knee or in a bowl of spaghetti, which is just great!
I highly recommend this to those with newer and more powerful systems and
looking for something simple and convenient of good quality. And the current prices listed here are great; it's an amazing deal.
Works as promised depending on computer.......2007-07-20
The first Kensington Bluetooth mouse was a gift for my wife. After seeing how well her laptop worked, I bought one for myself.
First let me say that her mouse works perfectly with her Sony Viao laptop computer. At first she made the mistake of turning off the mouse power. Its far simpler and only requires that one power down the laptop. When the computer shuts off, the mouse goes into hibernation. When the computer turns on, it start broadcasting the bluetooth signal. . .one only has wait for the computer for a second or two, then tap the mouse button which wakes up the mouse. The mouse then takes a second to find the bluetooth signal and its good to go.
Its comfortable to the hand and the batteries last so long that I don't worry about them. . .it sends a screen message when battery life is at 5 percent.
I was worried about getting second bluetooth mouse and operating both computers within range of each other. They work perfectly without any cross over signal.
There is a problem with the laptop however. The mouse works fine for a while, sometimes a long while, but the MY laptop (a Lenovo) has a signal problem and possibly a directional antenna. The mouse doesn't get the laptop signal and it acts jumpy if held in a certain area near the laptop. Sometimes the mouse looses signal. . .the mouse is still active, but the laptop somehow fails to keep up. There are work arounds for the problem but it means a less than acceptable performance from the mouse.
My suggestion is to make sure that you have a good return policy before purchasing this mouse. If your laptop has a signal problem, then you may experience problems. In which case I would return the mouse and forget about a bluetooth mouse for the computer.
Very, very annoying to use..........2007-07-18
I purchased this mouse because it was relatively inexpensive for a bluetooth mouse. Feature-wise it is quite lacking...only two buttons and a scrool wheel. But I figured it was okay because it doesn't cost much, right?
Well this mouse has other problems too. Most notably, it tracks very poorly. Even on a good mouse pad I get very jumpy action from the mouse. I've tested it out on three laptops: an HP 6400 laptop, an IBM thinkpad (t43), and a MacBook. On all computers the performance is about the same. The mouse is jittery and doesn't move smoothly across the screen.
Also, the mouse has severe pairing issues. It takes a long time to pair initially, perhaps 15-20 seconds. (Compare to my Apple Pro Keyboard, which pairs in less than 2 seconds.) Of course, this isn't such a bad thing if pairing is a one time operation... But this mouse forgets that it is paired all the time! Every few weeks I have to pair it again.
The last thing that bugs me about this mouse is the turn on time. When the mouse has gone to sleep (after a period of inactivity), it takes considerable work to turn it on again. Sometimes I just have to click one of the buttons and wait about 5 seconds. But sometimes that doesn't do anything. Sometimes I click several buttons, toggle the on/off switch, or push the connect button. When I need to use the computer, I don't want to have to spend the first 30 seconds troubleshooting the mouse. I want to sit down and have it turn on instantly.
I don't know if this is an issue with bluetooth, but I also have a $20 logitech wireless mouse that uses a propietary RF protocol (NOT bluetooth), and it suffers from absolutely NONE of the problems mentioned above. I have switched back to using that in the meantime, but the one drawback of that mouse is it requires an external dongle to operate. I'd like to switch to bluetooth so that nothing hangs off the outside of the computer.
Also, as mentioned above, my Apple Pro Keyboard turns on instantly and works flawlessly all the time. So I think the bluetooth technology itself is not to blame here.
I'm going to try buying a better bluetooth mouse because I suspect this is just a cheap POC. I would not recommend this mouse, and I will probably stay clear of Kensington products for ever. (Also had a problem with a Kensington power supply. I suspect that they have a very poor design department.)
Poor Battery Life, Sluggish Performance.......2007-05-26
This would be a great little mouse except for 1. the battery life seems to be about a week or less and, 2. quality of the bluetooth connection seems to fade in and out.

Customer Reviews:
Will NOT work with Vista.......2007-10-22
I wouldn't know anything about the performance of this mouse because I never got it to work. The driver had an update for Vista but even with help from a computer pro, there was no way to get it working. Cute though.
Bad battery life, buggy, cheap.......2006-12-06
I bought this mouse a year ago to use with my ibook. Initially, it worked well. The biggest problem that I had was the battery life. The batteries would only last for about a week. I thought at first the mouse was defective, so I had Targus replace it. I still had the same problem.
After a while, I seemed to have more and more problems getting the mouse to connect properly with my laptop. Also, the switch under the mouse broke off.
I highly recommend the Logitech V270 instead. It feels much more sturdy, I haven't had problems with the bluetooth connection, and I've been on the same set of batteries for a few months now.
Excellent features but electrical malfunction.......2006-10-22
This is the ideal mouse for a laptop on the go. It iis lightweight and precise although a little too hungry for battery power. Its biggest problem, though, is that it works intermittentyly; often the electrical circuit seems to be interrupted and the mouse stops working. Fiddling with it will eventually restore the connection but this is not the way a mouse is supposed to behave.
If I knew that mine is a defective unit I would replace it with another Targus BT but I can't be sure of it; it may be a design problem. Too bad
because it is an otherwise excellent product.
Eats batteries fast, otherwise good........2006-09-26
Goes through my 850MAH AAAs in 3 days with 12 hour/day usage. Given this issue, I have permanently removed the battery cover and have 2 sets of batteries such that one set is on hot-standby for immediate swapping. Other than the pathetic battery life issue, the mouse works as fine as a wired unit.
Battery life.......2006-04-12
It sucks battery like a starving baby!!!
Don't forget to buy rechargeable batteries.
I'm using NiMH and I'm not able to work one week without recharge it.

The amallest and the best.......2007-12-31
My husband bought one of these over 3 years ago and he loves it . We vought one this Christmas for our Grandson and he loves it >
Mini Mouse is easy to set up........2007-04-06
I am using the Iogear bluetooth mini mouse with a MacBook that is running both OSX and Windows. It was easy to set up on the Mac side, but the directions for the Windows side did not work as well. I had to choose to use no key code because the key code given in the directions didn't work. After I chose no key code, it worked beautifully! Absolutely no problems switching from OSX to Windows. Highly recommended.
Excelent Bluetooth Mouse.......2007-01-19
I am a guy with big hands, and this mouse fits anatomically perfect in my hands. It has rechargables batteries and a usb cable to charge them (in the same mouse), I find that it charges the batteries too slow and I don't want that my bluetooth mouse have to be plug to any cable, so I have an extra charger and 2 sets of batteries and this way I always have my mouse up and running.
Maddening mouse.......2006-12-05
When this mouse works, it works well. However, unlike my other bluetooth devises this one constantly loses its pairing with the computer.
I like the USB connection recharge, but I would change the supplied AAA with some energizer 950 MAHA Ni-HD's ASAP. The 600's only last a short time before requiring a recharge.
Also, the label print on the bottom of the mouse wears off quickly. Less than a week of use and you cannot tell which is on and which is off.
Unfortunately I gave this little headache to my mother-in-law. She now calls every night to have the mouse reconnected.
Great mouse!.......2006-10-08
I really like this mouse. It connected to my built-in bluetooth quite easily and it does not lose the connection. The batteries last a long time. You can attach the USB charging cable and still use the mouse with the bluetooth connection. Great!! It is the perfect travel size. Good buy!

Great Mouse, But Flawed.......2007-01-12
I've been a fan of this mouse for years. Unfortunately, it is flawed by a bad clicker.
This is the third mouse I've owned, and the second to have the clicker fail after about six months.
Specifically, the most used left mouse button becomes flakey over time. For example, I'll click once on a window and it will minimize as if it were double clicked. Sometimes if I don't press hard enough it will click but not hold for a drag.
Would be 4-5 stars if not for this problem.
Love this Bluetooth Mouse.......2007-01-03
I've been looking for a BlueTooth mouse that has an ON/OFF switch - (this one does not have an ON/OFF switch.) Every other BT mouse that I've tried doesn't respond nearly as well as this one. Add to it that it is so nice and compact. I just put a piece of paper between the battery contacts when I'm traveling.
This is my second one - I liked it so much.
Only grip - it doesn't seem to know when the battery is low. Just doesn't work quite right. I change the batteries and I'm back in business.
Works Great, highly recommend.......2006-09-26
I have had this mouse for nearly a year now, and I have zero complaints. It has held up well in my backpack (which is a very harsh environment) and it has had no problems at all.
I have a set of 15 minute rechargeables in and they last (depending on usage) 2-3 months.
The lack of a power switch is not a big deal. I'm not sure about others, but with my mouse, if you click it, and it cannot find a bluetooth signal, it shuts off in about 1 or 2 seconds.
It has some trouble with shiny surfaces, but just place a sheet of paper down, and it works great. It also works on my pants very well.
This isn't a mini it's a BTMOUSEJR !! Amazon wake up........2006-02-21
I had issues with this sucking batteries dry, I figured out my Powerbook 12" G4 1.5 was causing the problems. Had to load the latest bluetooth software and reset my PMU, it works fine now. I have really big hands with arthritis and had others that stressed out my fingers and wrists but this works for me. It's not perfect but I'm happy with it. Yea, I wish it had an on/off switch, you need to take out the batteries for transport. I'm not a gamer so it's quirks are barely noticeable. Batteries last a LONG time now! Once in a while the scroll goes nuts. I dropped it pretty hard one time and it didn't crack, scratch or quit!
This mouse has treated me well!.......2005-09-05
I've had this mouse for about 6 months now. I use it with my HP TC1100 Tablet PC. Setup was no hassle with Windows XP/SP2. Windows detects it easily with no setup required. Others complain about it being slow and/or shakey, but I have not had those problems. All in all, I enjoy using it.
Complaints:
1. If you're traveling, take the batteries out. There's no way to turn it off, and when the buttons are press, the batteries will die. On/off switch would be nice.
2. I'd like more buttons on it, but that's not the end of the world.

Terrific Little Speaker with Clear, Strong Sound.......2007-09-07
After reading several dozen consumer reviews describing laptop speakers I puchased this one. You simply plug it into your laptop, or USB hub, swivel the gooseneck to position the speaker where you want, and you've got an excellent speaker that fits in a small laptop utility bag.
The only complaint I have is that there is no quick volume control; once you've plugged it into your USB port, it overrides the laptop's volume control "knob". You have to open the volume icon in your Control Panel every time you want to adjust the speaker volume, which can be too slow when you're being blasted by a loud video.
This is not to say that there is anything wrong with the volume modulation in the speaker itself, just that there seems to be a wide volume range across items I view--YouTube, email messages with videos from friends, etc.
If this speaker had a volume control knob it would be perfect!
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DELL LAPTOPS.......2007-09-02
After several weeks of light, mid-volume use, the speaker stopped working on my Dell Latitude D500 and I began receiving error messages noting a "device malfunction". After trading emails with J-Lab customer service, I was instructed to return the speaker by mail (at my expense) for a refund. The refund I received was 80% of the original purchase price because, according to J-Lab, the device was still "working" upon receipt. The representative handling the return acknowledged that there has, in fact, been a history of compatibility issues with Dell laptops-- in other words, a "working" speaker may not always operate correctly when connected to a Dell laptop. Is trying this speaker on your Dell worth the risk of paying two sets of shipping charges, losing 20% of the purchase price, and spending time emailing representatives and repacking/mailing the device? If not, maybe it's worth considering alternatives.
Are we listening to the same speakers?.......2007-08-08
We bought this speaker for our Gateway M505 Media Laptop on a recent trip. The M505 has reasonable speakers for a laptop, but their volume level isn't quite strong enough for us to be happy--we'd always find ourselves straining to hear dialogue from movies.
From reading the reviews I honestly thought this would solve our problem in a nifty self-contained USB-powered fashion.
For us it didn't.
We found the speakers to be nearly identical to the M505 speakers, and while the B-Flex did give us the tiniest improvement in volume, it wasn't enough to really give us adequate volume, or the "big sound" many reviewers have mentioned. Also, there is no way a speaker the size of these can give the kind of frequency response any level of audiophile would be happy with.
So, who should try out this speaker? If you have standard tinny sounding laptop speakers (the almost nonexistent kind), these will be a big improvement. Also you will like the fact that it is USB powered so no batteries, no cords are needed.
However, having said that, I really think the bottom line is, to get truly better sound, you need to use a powered speaker. I think some of the JBL's may be the way to go.
For cost of these guys, unless you catch them on sale, my advice is to keep looking. We had to return ours. (Thanks to Amazon a really fair & generous return policy).
Definite improvement over stock, and extremely portable.......2007-07-08
My boyfriend bought me this speaker. It is plug-and-play. On my computer, often movies are not loud enough for some reason and with this speaker it's as loud as we could possibly want. Also I can blast my music throughout the house from my laptop - before I could not because it sounded horrible at high volumes.
I'm not much of a sound expert, but I think it sounds pretty good.
Flexible, Mobile & Fierceful .......2007-05-13

Average sound.......2007-03-22
Unless your laptop's soundcard is not working, or your speakers are barely hearable I wouldn't recommend this. Odds are your laptop does as much as these speakers.
It is well built, looks resistant and it does a decent job. Do not expect very good quality.
Like it so much bought it for a friend........2007-03-08
I like the sound of mine so much I bought one fo my friend for his birthday. It's not super loud but you can listen to music from your mac, with good quality. Just plug it into your USB port. My friend loves his too. He uses his all the time. Great for travel.
Works perfectly........2007-01-30
Speakers quit working on my laptop and needed something decent and easy - and this is better than that. Good quality considering size and price.
Lots of power in a small package.......2007-01-19
I really thought the reviews for this item were probably a little over-blown, but the speakers have proven me wrong. As someone who primarily uses their laptop on the go, I have been looking for a set of small, easily transportable, decent sounding speakers. These fit into all three categories. I am pleasantly surprised by the fullness of the sound that they put out. If you're strictly an audiophile, you'd be better off investing in a good set of Bose headphones, but if you need something to quickly and efficeintly plug and play so other people can hear what is on your laptop, then you won't find a better buy for your money.
Cool!.......2007-01-13
It was a gift to my daughter and she was thrilled! We were all amazed at
the "out of the box" design and think that the folks at JLab need to expand and create a whole lot of new "out of the box" stuff to make life
easier and more efficient! And, the speaker sounds GREAT!
