Think before buy.......2007-12-03
This is a too expensive product. You should think how many times you may use it before you buy it. Actually, I bought it 2 months ago and used only 2 times. Maybe, it is better to buy CD/DVD reader instead of burner (writer).
Portable USB CD/DVD drive. Works as advertised. .......2007-11-22
Bottom line, this product works exactly as advertised, no external power supply, light weight and slim. I have an "ultra portable" ThinkPad X60. The DVD only comes with the docking station. This product fills the gap so I can access CD and DVD drives when traveling without adding a lot of weight to my backpack. It consists of the drive and a special cable that plugs into two USB ports to draw the power necessary to operate, quite clever IMHO. And one of them is a pass thru so you only "lose" one port.
Compact and useful.......2007-08-30
I was so pleased to have a CD ROM drive again (the one built in to my computer died ages ago). This little number is great! Absolutley reliable, perfect XP compatibility, and the USB connection makes it so easy -- no extra power cords.
Excellent Product.......2007-07-02
Recently decided to use my dvd slot on my thinkpad t60p for another hard-drive. This external slimline dual dvd writer runs off my usb port: the included power adapter is not required for newer machines. I did a lot of research, this looks like the best product out there for slimline dvd writers that can be powered of the machine itself
Exactly what I needed.......2007-01-10
No extra AC power cord needed. My DVD player in my laptop went out and the laptop manufacturer wanted $450 for an in-case proprietary replacement. I use the DVD player a lot on the plane and unless I'm in first class, don't have power. This one runs off the USB power. It's very slim and not bulky. Just what I needed. I only have one question. Why don't they sell this thing in computer retail stores. It's a winner!

Customer Reviews:
Installation: Just plug it in. Use: Point and shoot........2007-12-27
This scanner is very easy to install and operate - it couldn't be any simpler, really. The scanner sends the data to your computer as though you'd typed the barcode in on the keyboard; thus it should work with any software that supports barcodes.
Configuring the unit for scanning modes and beeper volume/duration (it's a little LOUD out of the box) is just as simple. There are a few barcodes printed in the manual that you scan per your preferences.
To test it, just point your browser to http://www.upcdatabase.com/itemform.asp, rest the scanner on a UPC code, and click the trigger. Even if the product isn't in the database, you'll get confirmation of a good read just by looking at the number read out by the scanner. (If it's not in the database, do those good people at upcdatabase a favor and enter the product details). You could also use Amazon's search feature with the device, in the same fashion: scan the product's bar code rather than typing in its title.
I scanned in a dozen CDs sitting here at my desk about as quickly as a checkout clerk - so I stuck a pencil behind my ear, snapped my chewing gum a few times, asked myself if I found everything I was looking for and hollered "WET CLEANUP ON AISLE THREE!"
What a time saver!!!.......2007-12-19
Ccd Contact Barcode Scanner USB Light Rugged Design Black We purchased the Zio Tech Media Carousel and it was suggested that a bar code scanner would make inputting the DVD information quicker. Well!!! What a wonderful, reliable piece of equipment! It is plug and play, which is why I purchased the USB scanner. Plugged it in, ran it over the barcode and it's not yet hiccuped and we've input over 500 movies so far. We're using it on two different computers. Plug it in, hold it close to the bar code, and press the trigger. Easy and efficient. I highly recommend this scanner!
Excellent, yet inexpensive, barcode scanner.......2007-11-28
As others have noted, this is an excellent contact barcode scanner for the price. It has a light, but substantial feel, and seems to be of sturdy construction.
When connected, the scanner "pretends" to be a keyboard to the PC, so anything scanned appears "typed" in. Which means that you can also use this in applications that aren't necessarily designed/intended for use with a scanner.
The manual that comes with the scanner has a basic set of programming barcodes. However, if needed, the full set of programming barcodes is available via a PDF document download from the mfr's website.
I've been using this (along with DVDpedia on my Mac) to inventory my DVD collection, and will probably move on to my book collection afterwards.
If you're looking for a basic (yet still powerful) low-volume use scanner, I'd definitely recommend this one.
works for me.......2007-09-30
I got this barcode reader to inventory my media collection and it really helped to get that project done quickly
Poor item, poor service........2007-07-04
Absolute junk.
Bought one, never worked at all out of the box. Never once transmitted a code.
Played with all the settings, etc, etc, no go.
Called Adesso. Here's the fun part. They offer a 1-800 number, yet no one answers it or returns messages. If you want service, you have to call the direct phone number. Nice trick.
So, they figure it's defective, send me a new one. First, that shipment was slow. Second, despite promising the wouldn't, they charged my card for it.
Third, the new unit didn't work either.
Now I get to call them, again on my own dime, and try to send 2 of these useless items back.
Stay away. Useless item, useless service.

Customer Reviews:
It's a mouse..........2007-10-05
No complaints... I like the basic shape and rubber wheel. I hate mice that are crazy colors and look ungly on my desk. I love the black color. When I look for an optical USB mouse I just shop for the cheapest one. This one had a desent price. I would only buy it again if it were the cheapest though.
Very good travel mouse.......2007-09-07
Purchased this specifically for travel (whether the conference room down the hall or an airplane or hotel across the world). Size is a nice balance between a normal mouse and others' overly tiny travel mouses (especially for larger hands) - easy to use, easy to pack. See Smiley & Watson's reviews for some good detailed comments.
Microsoft USB Compact Optical Mouse.......2007-05-13
Met my expectations - great performance, and I like the smaller size. Great for traveling!
Awful.......2007-01-30
This mouse was awful. I had bought another no name optical mouse in the past and it continously jumped all over the screen. But I thought I would give the optical mouse ONE more try, and I bought a Microsoft, thinking It would be much better (being microsoft and all), but, guess what? It did the extact same thing!. So far as to exit me right off line a few times! Never again will I buy an optical mouse, I don't care WHO makes it!
Great Price and just perfect for use with my laptop .......2007-01-09

A very good alternative keyboard.......2007-11-17
This keyboard is not exactly a mainstream keyboard and you probably won't find it in a retail store.
It's a very nice keyboard though. It has two different angle positions besides just being flat. Plus it has a nice wrist rest. And if you like quick key buttons, the programmable top buttons are very nice, especially for the calculator. It's usually kind of baried in Windows.
Another great thing about this keyboard is the touch and feel. It responds quickly, yet lightly and it is quiet. The dual USB 2.0 ports are nice as well. More common now, but when this first came out, it was highly unusual. Unfortunately, the keyboard brand is now Lenovo instead of IBM, but other than that, cosmetically it is pretty much ideal and the black is very nic. I don't use the back/forward buttons very much, but when I have it was a nice touch.
The media controls have kind of a firm feel, I wish they were softer, but they work very well. The mute button is very handy too, especially when browsing sites with embedded music that you don't expect.
We have 3 of these keyboards in my family, I can definitely recommend it. I don't however recommned IBM/Lenovo's mice with the little up/down scroll button.
Oh, also the positioning of the USB ports might not allow big flash drives, etc.

Does everything i need it to do.......2007-12-26
This wireless keyboard works perfectly. It also has a very long range upwards of 20 feet, which is useful for people using a tv as a monitor.
Great Keyboard.......2007-09-09
I needed this keyboard to type messages on the Wii. It does exactly what I need it to do.
Wireless keyboard.......2007-01-12
I received the Fellowes wireless keyboard today. Set-up is a breeze. I love all the multifunction keys. I have been searching for a wireless keyboard for a long time. What a delight to find this one. It serves all my needs very nicely.
great for cut-copy-paste.......2007-01-10
I do a lot of work on the computer that involves a lot of cut, copy and pasting between documents.
I recently bought a new computer. My old one was an e-machines. The old e-machines came with a non wireless keyboard that had 3 cut, copy, and paste buttons on the left side of the keyboard. I have found them invaluable in the tedious copy-paste operations I do in my every day work.
I was extremely disappointed to find that the e-machines keyboard buttons didn't work on the new computer, despite installing the proper drivers. I went searching for a replacement keyboard of any type or brand that had cut-copy-paste buttons anywhere on the keyboard. That is very hard to find for some strange reason.
Imagine my surprise and delight when I came across this keyboard. It has EXACTLY the same configuration as the old keyboard. It looks exactly the same in every way except it is wireless. I'm sure it must have been manufactured by the same company e-machines used.
The new keyboard works great. If you do a lot of copy and paste, this is the keyboard for you!

Customer Reviews:
Good but the 'Rohs Compliant, IBM Standard Layout, PS2 Keyboard' is a *TRUE* IBM keyboard of yore!.......2007-11-04
As the previous reviewer said, this is an IBM classic keyboard. Kinda. Stupid "wrist-rest" is a separate piece and you can immediately dump it in trash as I did. Both ENTER keys are midnight blue not black (hard to tell from the pic). Does *NOT* work with a USB to PS/2 connector (connection must be USB). Not as heavy as a old fashioned IBM keyboard. Very quiet compared to my old DELL "Quiet Key" keyboard. My main complaint is that even with the legs/props extended in back (is 1/2 inch high in front & with extensions ~2 3/4 in back), the keyboard feels too flat to me (it's a lot like a Compaq keyboard). The "Rohs Compliant, IBM Standard Layout, PS2 Keyboard In Black" is MUCH more like the traditional large, heavy, click-y, IBM keyboard of yore (and I sooo much prefer it).
Increasingly Hard to Find.......2007-07-11
This product is everything I want in a keyboard. It has a standard layout (well, plus the three extra "Windows keys") with none of the nonsensical mucking about seen on recent "ergonomic" keyboard designs. Excellent action, shallow but firm, with relatively little noise. Simple design with (thankfully) removable wrist-rest.
I'm tempted to order two more because it's so hard to find a proper keyboard these days.

Customer Reviews:
Bad quality , worst customer service.......2007-10-18
I had high hopes for this product but the buttons are noticeably cheap quality and the left click button stopped working after 8 weeks, just stays flat and does not pop back up. I contacted the company filled out the RMA form and have not heard from them for 3 weeks. No one answers the RMA extension or gets back to you. Then they want you to prove you returned it. You can quickly tell the company is Chinese owned as when someone finally answered they said R&D department and could not speak english and just wanted to switch the call without helping. They said to hold and when I got switched to the supposed RMA department I got a message that there was no one there to answer the phone, to leave a message. The company does not know the meaning of customer service and obviously the warranty is not something they take seriously. If the product fails dont count on the mentality that seems to pervade the company to stand behind the product. You are basically taking a gamble. If I had another problem I would not even try to return the product which is what I believe they are counting on. The amount of work, the amount of calls and time wasted makes this a very expensive product. Do yourself and favor and find a reputable company and dont bother with Adesso. Call the RMA department if you have any doubts you wont get anyone on the line. The product quality is substandard and the customer service non existent.
Touchpad helped my carpal tunnel problems.......2007-10-17
This is the third Smartcat touchpad I have purchased. I now have on my two home computers and my work computer. Love them. Black is good so it does not show staining etc. as it gets a great amount of use. Getting the settings in the software to your liking takes a small amount of patience as with any touchpad. Try faster speed of cursor movement etc. In our situation, we do not allow sounds or tapping. Tapping can be annoying if you are hard handed like myself. I'd rather double click a button than double tap the touchpad as I get false "taps" sometimes. I'm used to the left button using my right thumb. Works great and helps my carpal tunnel problems not having to use the action of the mouse. Once in a while, the settings on the touch pad get "lost temporarily" and we believe it to be from static electricity. So once in a while we get no response or the settings seem flubbed. We just properly unplug from usb and plug in again and all is well. We like the 4 button version for cad program use. Enjoy.

Customer Reviews:
Great product.......2007-09-06
This keypad was perfect. It has large keys for larger hands. Simple and perfect for my purpose. I have already recommended it to a co-worker- she loved it too.
Great 10 key.......2007-08-07
I've had several keypads, each one lacking in one respect or another. This is the best I've found...good size keys, good spacing between keys, positive feel. Would recommend.
well constructed but not usable with Vista.......2007-03-23
Unfortunately, Lenovo has not yet seen fit to release a Vista-compatible driver, so the laptop's keyboard and the numeric keypad's number lock feature are in sync under Vista. In other words, if you want to type numbers on the numeric keypad (why else would you buy it?) using Windows Vista, the portion of your laptop's keyboard that substitutes for a numeric keypad will also type numbers. Obviously, for quick data entry, it quickly becomes annoying to have to constantly toggle the "Num Lock" key.
Targus makes a similar keypad that does include a Vista driver to avoid this annoying behavior, so that you can input text on your laptop keyboard and numbers on your numeric keypad. It does not, however, have the standard 10-key layout, which is the feature I like most about this model.
Updated (Sept. 2007): Lenovo has released a Vista driver for this keypad, so it now works as it should. You can activate Num Lock on the keypad and still type properly on the laptop keyboard.
Excellent replacement for laptop numeric pad.......2007-02-19
Entering numbers with the numermic keybad of a laptop is a joke. This product is good. Matches normal size and spacing of a regular keyboard.
Fine for the price.......2006-11-05
I bought this for use with an HP Pavilion laptop, and have had no trouble with it. I wish it had a delete or backspace button on it, but otherwise no complaints.

Customer Reviews:
letter transposition problem makes it unusable for normal typing.......2007-10-21
like at least one other reviewer, i have a big issue with the keyboard transposing letters as i type. it is EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING, because i cannot type at my normal speed without continuously backing up to make corrections. in the few minutes or so it has taken me to type this review, i have had to stop and make about 12 corrections.
i contacted adesso support, and their response was that "it happens on all keyboards". it doesn't. between work and home i have about 20 keyboards from a number of manufacturers, and guess what? none of those keyboards, or any other keyboard i have used since 1980 has had this problem. adesso offered to take it back and send a replacement, but that won't fix the problem. it is a design problem. so i give up. my money is down the drain and i will get another keyboard. it's too bad, because if it weren't for this problem, it would be a great little keyboard.
Perfect for my use!.......2007-09-15
I needed a small keyboard that would take up little desk space for a linux box I was building. This along with a trackball were the perfect companions for this use. It sits under the monitor for the few times I need to actually work on the box.
I wouldn't want to use it everyday as it's almost exactly the same size as a laptop keyboard, but for my use, I love it.
I hate this keyboard!!!.......2007-08-23
I needed a mini-keyboard in order to fit both a keyboard & mouse in the pull-out drawer for the desk that I have. I ordered this from another supplier, never received it, ordered the other version of the Adesso keyboard, which I had to return after a day of using b/c the 'S' key would constantly stick (try typing without an S!!), and ordered the ACK-595UB from Amazon. It arrived quickly, and I was happy to finally have something, but the keys on this keyboard are nearly as bad. There seems to be some sort of delay, so letters are frequently inverted, or the space bar will not depress when it should, so typing something like "space bar", will turn out "spaceb ar". I have nowhere NEAR as many typos when I use my other keyboard at home, or the (old) full-size keyboard I replaced with this one, so I know it's not my typing. Also, the keys require a good amount of effort to type. Given that I purchased this small keyboard so that I could fit the mouse & keyboard in pull-out drawer so that it would be more ergonomically correct because of a wrist problem I have, I honestly don't know which is worse--using this keyboard to type, and having to press super-hard on the keys, and going back to correct half of what I type, or just using my old keyboard in the incorrect position.
I kept the keyboard initially because I thought that perhaps it just needed to loosen up, and after a few days of use the keys wouldn't stick any more, but it doesn't seem to be doing any better after a few weeks. I definitely wouldn't recommend this product....I just wish there were more "short" keyboards out there...I would much prefer a Logitech product. The only reason I gave it even 2 stars is b/c if you NEED a short keyboard, at least its a keyboard & maybe yours wont be as horrible as mine.
Good size and key arrangement, but some flaws.......2007-08-15
I ordered this keyboard so I could bring my mouse closer to the front of my body.
Pros:
- it has good crisp key feedback, and medium-length keystroke. Feels like a cross between a laptop and standard keyboard.
- despite its tiny size it has a key arrangement that is fairly similar to standard. In particular, the control key is where it should be at bottom left.
Cons:
- most glaringly, it without a doubt misses keys (and I don't type lightly)
- it also reverses keys when I type too fast. I have confirmed this repeatedly by typing two letters in sequence quickly; my typing "accuracy" due to this has dropped substantially. When I type more slowly it's OK.
- some of the keys are beyond tiny; perhaps some could be omitted instead. I mean, who needs two Windows keys? And does anyone actually use the menu key?
I may return this keyboard. Alone while typing this review, I have had to backspace and fix transposed characters repeatedly. I never had this problem with any previous keyboards.
Edit: it did not get better, so I am returning it. Too bad; I liked the form factor.
FYI it is made in China, but the box was marked "RoHS" (Not "RoHS-Compliant...")
Poorly laid out, transposes letters.......2007-04-06
I had to return this keyboard after discovering that when I typed too fast, it transposed pairs of letters. I know that sounds implausible, and at first I thought it was just me typing sloppily on an unfamiliar keyboard. I tested it many times, with the keyboard connected to two different computers, and it was unmistakable and very easy to reproduce: typing any two letters in rapid succession would cause the opposite pair to come out ("ab" became "ba").
It's possible I simply received a defective unit, and a replacement would not have had this problem. But the keyboard has some significant design flaws as well. They've simply crammed too many keys into the layout. There are keys to the right of both the Backspace and Enter keys. I am extremely used to these frequently used keys being the rightmost keys on the main area of the keyboard, as I suspect most people are, and found myself constantly hitting Home instead of Backspace, PgDn instead of Enter. Yes, I could use software to reassign those keys, but that doesn't seem like an ideal solution.
Also, the modifier keys (Ctrl, etc.) are tiny, and there are five of them on each side of the space bar, which is non-standard. No matter what keyboard and operating system you're used to, you're going to have to do some significant retraining of your fingers to hit the correct modifier keys consistently.
