Good Wireless Mouse.......2007-12-31
Installation was a snap. No problem there. Mouse response is very good. Comfortable to use (even for my big hands). Very precise. I do a lot of graphic design with a pen/tablet, and this mouse rivals that for precision. Very happy so far.
Perfect.......2007-12-31
I bought this mouse along with a cleaning kit off of Amazon for my brother for Christmas.
I was very afraid of paying good money for a mouse that may be too small, and I risked it. It is definately worth the buy. The battery life is fantastic and the size isn't too small, even for man hands. The fact that the USB thing attaches to the bottom while traveling is wonderful.
All in all worth the buy.
Very Iffy.......2007-12-30
After all the hype of the wireless mouse, I decided to figure I'd go for the best known brand. Microsoft. Come to find out, their product, which I paid about thirty dollars for, is cheap. The USB receiver broke and I found myself trying to fiddle with it to get it to work. It's really a waste of time and definitely not a good investment.
What can I say? It works!.......2007-12-29
I've used this plug and play mouse on Windows and Mac machines without fail. The use is as simple as it looks. Without reading the manual, I was able to pop open the top of the mouse, put in a battery, and then plug in the USB dongle. No software needed. I love that the USB dongle clicks into the bottom of the mouse for travel too. Been running on the same battery for 3 months now without fail.
I also have to commend the form factor. Usually, when a mouse isn't designed well it feels strange to hold. This one had it right, with a right-side indentation that allows the ring and pinkie finger (for right-handed users) to fall a little.
I'd highly suggest this product to anyone looking for a simple, easy mouse replacement.
Great mouse for Notebooks!.......2007-12-28
I love the compact size and that you can store the usb dongle in the bottom of the mouse. The only complaint that i have is that i was told that this mouse had the 4-way scrolling option and it DOES NOT! But otherwise I like the mouse a lot. I would recommend this mouse to everyone that has laptop!

Working great with Linux laptop (Ubuntu 7.10).......2007-12-28
Plugged it into my Ubuntu 7.10 laptop and it works with no problems at all.
You'll love this mouse...Very Comfortable!.......2007-12-28
I bought this for my husband...and he's had both Microsoft and Logitech before. Microsoft is his favorite, and it's a comfortable size and width for his wide hand (even though the mouse is fairly small.)
This mouse is aweasome !.......2007-12-26
I had this mouse for a year, and then it broke
Sensetivity is perfect !
Its pretty compact, its very hard to get use to another mouse after having this on for a long time :D
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Mouse 3000.......2007-12-24
This mouse in theory is a good mouse, problem is the shipper/vendot ships NO software with it to indicate which version of Microsoft it will work with. Mine is very sporadic, I got frustrated after doing all the downloads needed and just gave the laptop to my wife who doesn't use a mouse.
Disappointing.......2007-12-17
I've had a few other optical mice and this is the worst. Every time I use it, I need to press the re-set button at least once. The cost was cheap but it wasn't worth it. Next time I'll spend a little more for a good one.

Plus, it has a sleek and stylish design that looks great on any desktop in your home or office. Customizable buttons help you get quick access to the media, programs, and files you use most often, while 4-way scrolling takes advantage of Microsoft's Tilt Wheel technology, letting you scroll four ways for greater efficiency and comfort. Meanwhile, the Instant Viewer function allows you to click the scroll wheel button to instantly display your open windows. Then you just point and click to select the window you want. Another feature, the Magnifier, lets you point and click to enlarge and edit details on your screen.
The Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000's presentation controls allow you to smoothly navigate through Microsoft Office PowerPoint and other presentations from up to 30 feet away from your PC. Using the integrated Digital Ink technology, you can give your presentations more impact by highlighting vital information on screen. You can also use the device as a media remote for multimedia presentations, or to control digital entertainment from the comfort of your living room sofa.

The Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 features 2.4 GHz Bluetooth connectivity with First Connect technology that makes it easy to connect wirelessly right out of the box. Customer Reviews:
Presenting an excellent mouse!.......2007-12-24
I was simply looking for a Bluetooth mouse. I found an excellent replacement for my Logitech Media Mouse. It has some different functions, but all of the multi-button functions are there and the presenter buttons on the bottom are really cool. My IT guy set up the mouse for me (thems the rules) so I do not know how it is to setup, but it works flawlessly.
I only have 2 observations (not really complaints). The first is that while this mouse has all of the whistles and bells of a desktop mouse, it is still notebook size. It is a little small for extended use. The second is that the extra buttons on the sides normally used for 'back' and 'forward' are in awkward positions.
The 'click' is smooth, the scroll is smooth and the pointer motion and positioning is precise. This is an excellent mouse.
microsoft's big hit.......2007-12-21
a really functional and elegant mouse with lots of really great features. works fine, fast and realiably and looks very classy. trully recommended peripheral.
Less than perfect, better than awful.......2007-12-13
First of all, I have to assume that Microsoft has improved the documentation since some of the earlier reviews were written, as I DID find instructions on how to use the mouse with another Bluetooth adapter, such as the one found in a notebook. What they don't tell you is that the Microsoft IntelliPoint software will not recognize such a connection so you can't use any of its special features. But you can do almost everything needed.
The mouse does work with the built-in Bluetooth of my ThinkPad T42p, but not all features are available. The mouse motion, left and right buttons and scroll wheel work, as do the presentation buttons, but the two side buttons for the magnifier and "digital ink", etc., do not. More to the point, Microsoft's software does not recognize any connection other than through their dongle, so you can't customize anything.
Contrary to a comment I read, the IntelliPoint software did NOT disable my Thinkpad's Trackpoint mouse. It did make me uninstall Logitech mouse software I had, though.
On my ThinkPad T42p, I used the ThinkPad's Bluetooth Setup Wizard, select "I want to find a specific Bluetooth device". Then put the mouse into discovery mode by pushing and holding the recessed button on the bottom until the light flashes. Click Next and have it search for devices. It will find the mouse and then find the service. You're done.
With this setup, everything (that I have tried so far) works with the exception of the side buttons and clicking the mouse wheel. The rest of the mouse functions and the presenter functions work, even blanking the screen in PowerPoint. I have not tried the media buttons, though.
Some things I like about this product:
- Nice shape for the hand
- Compact
- Good quality laser pointer
- Smooth scroll wheel with the side scrolling feature
- Handy presenter functions
Some things I don't like:
- Wobbles a bit when clicking a mouse button
- No visible indicator that it is switched on
- Software does not recognize non-MS Bluetooth
- Case is bulky and does not securely hold dongle (if you're using it.)
- Can't use mouse pointer without switching modes (my separate presentation mouse had its own directional pad plus left and right buttons.)
I was previously using a Logitech wireless (non-BT) travel mouse and a separate presentation mouse, each of which had its own dongle. I'm happy to go dongle-less with one device.
I like it.......2007-12-12
It's a mouse, it does not cook, clean or do the laundry, but it's small, easy to carry around, comes with USB BT so it can be used on more then one PC at a time. One thing that MS should look into is making the scroll wheel with some resistance, sometimes, while moving the mouse, the page would scroll, because it trigerred the scroll wheel. The good things is mouse works during Windows install, which is great! The small size will make some people dislike it, because the buttons will seem out of place, then again, some people don't like notebook keyboards or cell phones for the same reason. My suggestion is, if you don't have overly large hands, like tiny cell phones that gets lost in your pocket, then this is for you - assuming you need a small mouse to go with the small notebook.
Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 .......2007-10-22
Easy to install and use, better touch
than a USB Mouse, remote use works as
advertised. Highly recommend. Just be
sure to turn off after use, so the

Microsoft Optical Mouse 3000 .......2007-11-07
I was looking for a mouse to use with my laptop. Decided to try this since a lot of people liked it. At first it's small size took some getting use to but I soon began to prefer it to larger mice and wound up ordering a second one for my desktop as well and a couple to give to my daughters as Christmas presents so I guess you can say I'm pretty please with this mouse. One caveat- if you plan to use this mouse with a desktop you will likely need a USB extension cable as the cord is only about 30" long- fine for laptops but too short for most desktop installations.
awsome.......2007-10-25
best mouse i have ever owned, large or small. has nothing i would change about it.
great mouse.......2007-07-17
I initially got a bluetooth mouse and hated the poor connectivity. This moues, however, works great. It moves precisely and the cord is just the right length so it's not restrictive and it doesn't get in the way. The included drivers allow you to program specific buttons for tasks if you wish to do so.
Overall, the design is great. The blue light is a nice looking addition. It's on the small side (which hasn't been a problem for me--easier to store) has a side button, and a vertical/horizontal scroll wheel. The middle click is a bit stiff at first, but it loosens up eventually.
Excellent ergonomics.......2007-05-31
The mouse is very comfortable to my size of hand. It is smooth in its working and satisfies the requirements to the fullest and pleasure to use.
Excellent mouse.......2007-05-19
Pros:
* Not too big, not too small. I have small hands, and this fits just right, but it's not a mini-mouse.
* Great zoom. Easy to use.
Cons:
* Not wireless. Personally I prefer the cord over a mouse where you have to snap the USB thingie into it to turn it off. If they made a cordless mouse just like this with an on/off switch, I'd be first in line.
* If you use with Vista the screen flickers some. I use it with Vista anyway because I love the mouse. (Although it's pretty annoying that Microsoft didn't bother to make their OS backwards compatible with their own equipment.)

Microsoft Notebook Optical Mouse - A touchpad is great for doing quick work on a notebook, but when you use the notebook for a long period of time, a real mouse is much more comfortable. This mouse from Microsoft is specifically designed fornotebook use. It's smaller size is perfect for traveling, its optical sensor lets you use it on nearly any surface, and it can be used by either your left or right hand!
Customer Reviews:
Good mouse but a few steps back.......2007-05-21
I preferred the older version for:
1. better finger traction on the wheel
I find it harder to engage and increased pressure sometimes results
in a middle-click being recorded
2. better hand ergonomics
It just doesn't feel as comfortable (a larger bump towards the back
would provide better palm support)
3. matte surface more difficult to clean
Previous version had a shiny surface that was much easier to clean.
Good one to use.......2007-03-23
Me and my friend both got a laptop mouse. I bought this one while he settled got Logitech mouse. The ratings for that mouse were better than this one. Still I opted for this, since I had seen and used it at one of my friends before. I kind of liked its small shape and all. Well, it turns out that I made the right choice. The mouse my friend uses is larger than this one, has borders on side of the buttons, so you cant keep your finger at the corner of the button and press it and you have to click more forcefully. This mouse, on the other hand, is perfect for your hand, I read on of the reviews here that it sometimes creates pain in the wrist. I also felt it once, but if looks that the occurrence of such s situation is quite low. So don't worry, have this wonderful and small mouse.
Perfect for traveling laptop.......2006-08-09
This mouse performs as flawlessly as a full size optical mouse. I would consider a few benefits to owning this mouse as I have: smaller to transport, shorter wire that doesn't get in the way in cramped travel locations, no batteries to replace or to rattle around as some wireless mouse brands do. I am very pleased with its performance.
great and no regret.......2006-01-19
great, u just plug it in and restart ur computer and u will have a great mouse under ur hand that u will never regret buyin it.
Looks fancy but doesnt serve the purpose.......2005-08-10
This is really a very small mouse and after a while just too difficult to use. Planning to send it in for a refund. Its easier to use a regular sized mouse.

Customer Reviews:
Very Pleased.......2007-12-25
Recently purchased this mouse. Very happy so far. Works exactly as discribed. I installed the software from the included disc. Easy installation. So far, the only questionable feature is the battery life. The mouse I was using before this one would use 2 AAA batteries every 2 to 3 days. Looking forward to the single AA battery in this mouse lasting the 6 months as promoted. I don't think it will, but I'm already ahead of the game. Only thing this mouse needs is a on/off switch. Using my laptop as a desktop requires disconnecting the USB device and inserting it at the bottom of the mouse to turn it off. Not convenient at all. Instead, I've been just popping the battery out. On/off switch would definitely be more convenient. At first I just left it on and that battery only lasted less than a week. Even popping the battery out when not in use I can't see it making it anywhere close to 6 months. If it lasts 2 weeks, I'll be happy!
Overall however, I'm enjoying all the features on this mouse and at the price I paid I couldn't of done better. I do recommend it! It's fun to use.

Love this little mouse.......2007-12-22
Best mouse I have ever used. I work in IT and use this mouse for 7-10+ hours/day. I am buying another one for use at home. Has good range so it works on desktops as well as laptops.
- Love smoothness and quickness in both pointer and scrolling. Can be set very sensitive, which I prefer.
- Wheel does not "click" when you roll it - very smooth. What a relief! Always found those wheel clicks grating and annoying.
- Magnifier is sometimes very handy, although you have to install the software to make it work.
Plug and play.......2007-12-18
Plug & Play; no bothering with installing software and so on. Works great on a mouse pad.
awesome customer service.......2007-12-17
Got this mouse as a X-mas gift last year and have been really happy with it. But with so much use, the usb connection eventually ate it about a month ago. I emailed customer service and within 48 hours a rep replied requesting an address to send a replacement. Within a week I had a new mouse. As much as it pains me to give kudos to Microsoft, it may be the most hassle-free customer service interaction I've had this year. I would definitely buy this mouse again just for the service experience.
MS Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 works!.......2007-12-04
This MS Notebook Optical Mouse 4000 is a welcome unit because it is hard for me to get used to the laptop's touch pad. We use this mouse all the time.
I discovered that the laptop would not go into screen-saver mode whenever the wireless mouse is attached. So I just remove it to prevent screen burn-in when running a long app.

My mouse of choice........2007-12-09
This mouse is the perfect size, not too big or small. A short cord just right for laptop use. I have several laptops and have this mouse for each one. (I don't like touchpads) They are very reliable and I've gotten them for $8-$10 each. Sure, you can go wireless, but they are more expensive, another thing that needs a battery, and you still have to keep track of the receiver. Get this mouse while you still can find them!
Perfect for small hands and laptops!.......2007-03-16
I enjoy this mouse. Usually, I don't like using the touch pad on laptops but after deciding to buy a mouse, I had to look for a specific mouse that would fit into my lifestyle as a student. I have small hands and I hate carrying out heavy objects in my bookbag. Since I have to lug my laptop around, I needed a mouse that didn't take a lot of space, is good enough to withstand constant shifting in my laptop, and that worked well with my needs.
Pros: Small size, optical, scrolling tab, and portability
Cons: Sometimes the mouse jumps around a bit on its own. BUT this happens only a few times every few weeks - so it's not often enough to cause a problem for me.
Enjoy!
Great Mouse.......2007-02-21
I've had this mouse for about 3 years now. It recently started fraying where the cord attaches to the USB connector. Other than that, I've really loved it! The size made it easy to pack and fit my hands perfectly. No problems connecting to my Mac laptop either. :-)
Liked them until they died.......2007-01-09
I bought two of these mice a few years back. I've liked them but wish they were made more durable. Some people have complained about the length of the cord, my USB connector is on the left side of my laptop and I use the mouse on the right without problems.
One of the two developed the problem another reviewer commented on. The scroll wheel when scrolling up would mechanically 'lock' and this resulted in the scroll wheel being clicked. Scrolling down always works but this got frustrating. I wound up marking the bottom of this one with a black X so I could tell them apart.
The 'good' one was then used much more than the other. Unfortunately, there is no stress relief where the cord leaves the USB connector and with time this mouse has developed a short. Worse, the short is across the 5 volt USB power wires. Worse still, shorting the USB power on my Thinkpad causes it to power down instantly. This took me a long time to figure out as it only happened occasionally until today. Now I can just bend the cable a bit at the USB connector and my laptop dies.... this mouse is heading for the trash.
Rating it 3 stars as they worked well up until now. Perhaps I'm generous.
A durable mouse.......2006-12-26
This product has served the test of time for about 18 mos now.It is small compared to some (mice), but is very quick and easy to use, even for someone with large mits..The cord is about 3 feet(no more) and if the usb is on the side(even not on the side)it is more than enough length for just about any position you work or surf in.The product plugs in and is ready(no downloads)for use.No frills,a good basic reliable product.

Customer Reviews:
So great, I'm buying it again!.......2007-07-02
I love this mouse; I'll state out-right that I'm biased. I've had it for about a year now, with semi-constant use. I never have problems with the signal, or the smoothness. This is a great mouse. It's compact, the easy snap thing is very lovely, and the battery life is great.
The only reason I'm rebuying it is due to a little accident my laptop had with gravity. Broke the USB plug, and I cried. Yes, I did, tears and all. Anyhow. I went to Best Buy to get a new one, and AHHH! I can't stand it. It moves so clunky and it just... isn't my little 4000.
Anyhow. I love this mouse.
<3 Easy, lovely, and smooth.
worst mouse ever.......2007-03-22
I've had several wireless mice in the past, and this one by far is worst of the lot. My greatest issue is with the left mouse working intermittently. It literally took me several clicks on the same button or link to do anything. Basically you have no idea if your left click is going to work or does nothing, so you end up clicking several times to see something happen. Would not recommend this to anyone despite the low price.
dont buy this mouse.......2007-03-03
First of all, it is a lot smaller than a normal mouse as it is advertised. Also, the software for the magnifier will not install on Windows Vista (I find this ironic because it is a Windows mouse). Occasionally, it will stop working all together and you have to remove the usb and a few times. I would say spend the extra money to get a good optical, wireless mouse.
Software incompatible with some video drivers.......2007-01-10
Once I got everything set up properly, the mouse has worked been great. I downrated it, because I had problems with incompatibilities between versions 6.01 (came with the mouse) and 6.1 of the Microsoft Intellimouse software and the driver for my video card, an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400. This causes flickering in the active window (not the whole screen). According to results of web searches I did, there are other video drivers that conflict with versions 5.5 and up, but some do not. I have borrowed machines with NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 and GeForce FX Go5200 - they work fine with versions 6.01 and 6.1. If I turn off the Intellimouse software on my system or use version 5.0, there is no flicker, but the horizontal scroll and magnify do not work. Finally, I tried version 5.3 that I borrowed from a friend and it makes the mouse work as promised and does not cause the flicker. Unfortunately, I don't know how others can get this version, since the Microsoft site has version 6.1. I have notified both Dell and Microsoft of this problem.
Best mouse I've ever had.......2006-10-18
I originally purchased the 3000 model and it became my favorite mouse ever. Everything was perfect: the size, weight, balance, click action, instantly worked on any computer I plugged it into, very responsive and accurate, and I never did run down the original battery despite 16 hours/day of use for 2 1/2 months.
Eventually my girlfriend borrowed it, fell in love with it, and swiped it, so I bought this new 4000 model to replace it, and it is even better.
It has the same excellence in design, feel, and use as the 3000. The major improvement is the changed middle scroll button which now scrolls faster if turned faster and is instantly responsive. The required force to spin it is just right, in my opinion.
Also it adds horizontal scrolling ability and a very cool side button that by default turns on and off a special magnification window which is intuitively resized and adjusted. It is really slick.
The IntelliPoint software lets you customize the action of all the buttons, and you will probably want to change the default setting for the middle mouse button, which by default is to swith to the next open application rather than function as a normal middle mouse click. If you use a tabbed browser you'll notice this really quick! It is easily changed though. And you can use the side button for the magnification thing or any of about 25 other useful things.
Microsoft makes fantastic hardware, and this is a premium example. If this is not the best mouse on the market, it is at least the best notebook mouse.
