The cordless desktop iTouch comprises a wireless keyboard and mouse along with a radio-frequency receiver. After installing the software, you press the connect buttons on the receiver, keyboard, and mouse, and then you're on your way to wireless computing. Because the receiver doesn't use infrared signals, which require line of site between the devices, you don't have to point the mouse or keyboard in its direction, letting you type or click even if you're positioned at odd angles. The keyboard works even when you're seated at a 180-degree angle from your computer, though that's probably not the most efficient position for typing.
Along with the freedom to move about the room, the cordless desktop iTouch system offers a number of time-saving features. The keyboard, which provides a nice, responsive click, has a set of Internet keys in the top right corner. You can set these up to provide one-click access to your e-mail program and designated Web sites. You can also use these buttons to access applications such as Microsoft Word. The button with the crescent moon shape on the top left corner of the keyboard calls up the Windows shutdown menu.
The mouse features a scroll button, which is ideal for navigating Web pages and large spreadsheets. You can also set the mouse buttons to perform other functions, such as HyperJump, which provides one-click access to such Windows features as the Start menu and the last active window.
The cordless desktop iTouch includes music jukebox software called Virtuosa. Buttons at the top of the keyboard let you control the track sequence and volume without having to open up Virtuosa in a separate Window.

Excellent long Last Keyboard & mouse.......2006-07-31
I have owned this keyboard and mouse for at least 2 years now. It is still holding up fantastic. The spacing on the keyboard just seems to be perfect. My fingures know right where to go. The optical mouse seems to work on most surfaces.
I have been using this pair from a distance of 15' to 20' away from the receiver the entire time and rarely have any problems with it. Plus the fact that both the keyboard and the mouse use standard AA batterys I was able to purchase some rechargables and just switch them out when they get low, which the computer will tell you when that happens. I do recommend using rechargable batterys. I have to change the mouse batterys at least every month and the keyboard every couple of months and I use the computer often and daily.
The keyboard size if perfect. I removed the extended pad since I use the keyboard in my lap... justs pops right off. The computer it's for is my TV, DVD, Gaming and DVR machine. The keyboard sits nicely under the coffee table without taking up too much room.
Only problem I have honestly had with this setup is my cat. She attacks the mouse because of it flashing LED.
Mouse jams if using two systems.......2002-06-22
Both keyboard and mouse are good, however, I just got a second system to use with the computer in the room next door (the two systems are just separated by a thin wall) and the mice "jam" each other if used at the same time (move a mouse and both systems "freeze" on the screen, very annoying). I've followed the instructions on the logitech support site to reinstall the systems (take out batteries, press button on receiver for 15 secs., install one system, wait at least 20 mins., install the second system), but the problem doesn't go away. Contacted two service reps via e-mail over the past 10 days but they just re-sent the info that's available on the site. Very disappointing, I'm junking one system now.
You pay for "almost " perfect........2001-08-20
Logitech makes great products and by in large, this one is no exception. Assuming you have the right placement of the transmitter to eliminate interference from your monitor etc... it is a fast and easy set up. The keyboard is light, but you have to hit the keys a bit harder than I would like and its noisy. The mouse works well, and both do have that "cordless" advantage.
I was unable to kick back and type. I kept getting inaccurate keystrokes that appeared to be hardware error, not the operator. As long as I kept the keyboard on my desk... all was well, but since I got it to be able to move away from the desk, I can't say I'm thrilled with what I would consider to be a fairly big chunk of change going to this item.

This Logitech Cordless keyboard is a pretty good keyboard but I have two minor problems with it. The first problem is that the keys are too hard and if you don't push down hard enough the letter won't appear on the screen. This is a pretty minor problem but should be taken care of with Logitech's next keyboard.
The other problem is that the keyboard freezes up on me but I guess this is so because I've had it for a few years now. Despite those two problems this Logitech keyboard is a great buy and will be enjoyed by all. Buy it and have fun.

Not for the Absent Minded.......2002-06-21
This combo works just fine as a mouse and keyboard. However, I ended up replacing my original in a very short period of time because I kept dropping the mouse off the edge of my desk. The mouse was sturdy but it could only take so much abuse before it went to mousie heaven.
The other problem I had was a tendency to wander away from the desk while holding the mouse. Later, after a half hour of frantic searching, I would find it on the file cabinet, in my pocket, in my brief case. It was harder to keep up with than my ink pens.
I eventually bought a wireless Stealth keyboard with a pointing device built in and have had it for the last two years without a problem.
6 feet more like 20.......2001-09-04
When I was in the store I looked at the 6 foot radius this device was supposed to have , and I did not think it would be enough space for me to do what I wanted to do. Guess what even though the box says 6 feet it is seriously more like 20 or so feet. Comparing it to other products you will find there is nothing this good this cheap on the market today to compete. The intel setup looks pretty good , but it is much more money, and the wireless hub is much bigger then the logitech hub. This is the device to have , kudos to logitech.
One thing to watch out for is the connect button on the hub. If you press that button you have to take the batteries out of the mouse for it to work again.

I rec'd my Logitech Cordless Freedom pack today. Hooked it up immed. Loved it from the get-go! This product is great for those who like to sit back and relax while working on the computer. Gone are the days of hunching over the desk typing or mousing around websites.
I found the range of the keyboard and mouse to be more than 20 feet though I would have settled for 6. With the unexpected distance achieved I'm eager to buy a 19-21" monitor.
If you are undecided, put your fears to rest and buy this set. You will love it too.

Why buy a wireless mouse and keyboard separately? Makes no sense, and Logitech offers this great solution. The product has tremendous range. I live in an apartment and can type in the living room and the receiver receives the info flawlessly. Walls don't seem to be a problem at all. It is great if you like to lay down while typing. I use it for copying reports that I hand write first and it is nice not to have to sit at the computer staring at the monitor.
Drawbacks... well if you are a visual person like me, you need to look at the screen anyways and it is hard to type in a different room and not know what is going through or what errors you are making. As Office 2000 and Word 2000 gets better with its auto corrections, it will improve my comfort level with the remote abilities of this product. Also, the product uses batteries, which I am not entirely comfortable with, but it needs power from somewhere!

This product is excellent!!! The only reason I am awarding this product only four stars is because of some difficulties I had during the set up. At first my mouse was freezing and missing commands for the first day I owned it. You have to make sure during setup that you secure both the keyboard AND the mouse to the receiver by programming them seperately to ONE of the two channels. Make sure they are not operating on the same channel or you will have major problems. You would think that the software would not let this occur, but it does. I am not new to computers and I consider myself experienced when it comes to anything to do with computers. I installed a CD R/W drive the same day and it was cake compared to figuring out the bugs in this set up. After the confusion, when you do get this working and set up correctly it is an outstanding product which is why I have to give it four stars. I highly recommend this product to anyone considering going wireless. Logitech is an outstanding company, we have many of their products at my work. The one thing that is extraordinary about this product is the hot keys. You can not only put one program or website on a key, but a whole list of functions can be on one key. The other great and of course obvious function of this setup is less garbage on your desk by not having wires everywhere and the ability of free movement.

Logitech does it again..........2001-07-18
I've owned a lot of Logitech stuff, from mice, to speakers, and beyond. Logitech is really one of the BEST peripheral device manufacturers. Except for joysticks, Microsoft's Precision Pro or Force Feedback models blow Logitech's joysticks away. But everything else Logitech rules!
I got this particular product because I accidentally spilled some juice on my old keyboard, and then, panic captured, I blow dryed it. WARNING! HEAT SHRINKS COMPUTER COMPONENTS! I learned this after the fact of course. Fortunately, I picked the Logitech keyboard to replace it. It has an excellent design, and relatively soft-sounding keys. My only problem is that the multimedia buttons do NOT work with Winamp the almighty MP3 playback tool! Boohoo! Hopefully Logitech realizes their gigantic error in not supporting Winamp, and fixes it ASAP!

After years of killing inexpensive keyboards at a rate of 2-3 per year, I finally decided to spring for what looked like a real, even if slightly more costly, solution -- and it has been exactly that. (Well, more real than costly, actually, because I was later surprised to find a manufacturer's rebate in effect at the time I made the purchase.) To echo the previous reviewer, this keyboard has a firm, precise touch that allows me to speed type without extraneous letters or spaces. Of course, we all have our own opinions about what constitutes an ideal touch; all I can say is that this one works extremely well for me. In addition, that touch isn't so 'touchy' that it ruins me for other keyboards on which I'm obliged to work (thanks!). Other very useful features: (1) no extended, hard wrist rest -- I need a soft gel wrist pad, and this keyboard generously gives me that option; (2) the low-power USB ports come in handy, since I have already filled up a 7-port USB hub. No problems yet with USB devices (including optical mouse and PC video cam) attached through the keyboard; (3) quick, easy installation, at least for the joint USB/serial option; (4) a wonderfully linear and well-written product booklet and instructions; and (5) it's sleek and nice to look at. I've written this after a full four months of hard use, so you can believe it.

Best keyboard used since the old IBM CRTs.......2002-08-25
If you're thinking of get either this or a keyboard from M$ or IBM, don't even bother with the M$ model. This keyboard, and any Logitech keyboard for that matter, offer second to none key feedback.
I have own three of these. It is great for using a computer with your TV. You can sit in a chair 15' away from your computer and play a game or watch movies. Add a M$ or Logitech opital wireless mouse and you never have to leave your couch.
Anther great aspect of this keyboard is that you can two of them side-by-side and they won't interfer with each other. Each keyboard syncs to each hub offering the ability to have multiple kewyboards in close promiity.
The two batteries that it comes with will last you 3-6 months of constant use. With good batteries, the keyboard will type away for years w/o need for new ones.
If their is a weakness in this keyboard it is if you spill something inside, it done. You will have to buy a new one.

This keyboard is an excellent example of Logitech's attention to fine craftmanship. The keys have just the right resistance and responce. I have been using the keyboard for over a year now, and have not experienced any problems with it. None of the keys have stuck, and I have yet to change the batteries. This keyboard will help reduce the clutter of your desktop, and even permits one to work away from the desktop. The range of the keyboard is very good, and I can even use the keyboard with a few objects inbetween the reciever and the keyboard. I would also recommend the Logitech cordless optical mouse to round out the cordless desktop

I bought this keyboard for my girlfriend a few months ago and she loved it. I was able to sit the keyboard on my lap and use it with no problems. This is a great combination--no cord on the keyboard or the mouse. Installation--absolutely simple. The batteries in the mouse don't last so long (that little red light is on all the time) but the keyboard batteries seem to last forever.
I have had this on the desktop PC at home for a year and it's operated flawlessly. I couldn't be more pleased.

I've had the Logitech wireless keyboard and optical mouse combo on my Dell for over a year now. I had already figured out that optical mice would Betamax their non-optical brethren (the accuracy & durability of the optical mouse so clearly thumps the old dirt catching roller-ball that I predict the total eradication of the latter before baseball leaves Montreal).
Anyway, the cordless thing is the issue here. I set up the little box under my desk by plugging its 2 wires into the keyboard & mouse ports on the back of my computer (you can use USB for either or both if you prefer), put the batteries (supplied) into the mouse & keyboard (2 AAs each), slid the CD into my PC and with Windows XP, set-up was nearly automatic. Total installation time (including my attaching the little box with velcro to the underside of the desk) was under 10 minutes.
Accuracy is 100%. Range is more than adequate (i.e. better than your visual range). Battery life has been about 2 months for the mouse and about 4 months for the keyboard. Now, it may cost a little more, but the convenience of never having to get those 2 wires tangled anymore has really been great.
