when i purchased this item i thought that it'd bring me comfort in my long hours on the pc. i was worng.
1, it is not as soft as you'd expect
2, it gets in the way while playing games and using applications that require extensive mouse movement
i gave this item 2 stars only because i liked the color of the thing. apart from that it has nothing else that i think you'll like.

I purchased this item based on the reviews but I must say I'm disappointed. I condsider the gel very hard for its purpose. It does position my wrist correctly but the gel is so hard that my wrist still ends up hurting. I am going to switch to a bean bag type and see if that is better. Regarding the smell, I do smell it when I put it to my nose but not when it is being used correctly. I don't have a problem with any smell.

I am getting ready to send this back to Amazon or Fellowes. I have not even had it a month and I have a number of problems. At first it was great. But 2 weeks later it suddenly stopped moving right or moving down on the screen. Bad thing is there is no rhyme or reason, so it happenes at any time. The worst thing I have experienced is it will lock the page in a kind of automatic scroll down position. I cannot do anything on the page unless I use my touchpad or keypoard. Then the Fellowes magically unlocks and I can use it again. I'm bummed because there seem to be few of these on the market...maybe there is a reason. I hope the 2nd one works!!

The specs don't say it's compatible with Vista but I wanted to try it anyway. It definately is not for Vista. I'm sending it back and trying something else. Lesson learned. It's still a great product though. I tried it on my work PC and it's really neat to use once you get used to the feel of it.

What I really liked about the hand held trackball is freedom to sit or stand anywhere(without a table top) to control my computer. I have been checking for other products like it and have only found this trackball. What I hate about this product is it becomes useless after a year or two. This is my fourth Fellowes trackball in about five years. If it wasn't for the short lifespan I would be happy with the product.
Maybe in a few years they may come out with a wireless model. Then I could get rid of the long extension cable that runs across my floor to the couch. If it wasn't for the price I probably wouldn't have bought more than a couple over the years. This is the only pointing device that I have found that I can sit on my couch and play computer games for hours without muscle fatigue in my arm or wrist.

The Keyboard Drawer is an excellent profuct. It is sturdy and very strong holding my weist which puts a lot of pressure on the drawer. This talbe can handle the pressure.

Although the tray is plastic the rails are metal and it seems sturdy. The product provides a reasonably firm surface. The installation was easy with a power screwdriver drill bit - there are a lot of wood screws to install as one would expect and sturdiness demands they go in all the way. The mouse tray slides out from beneath the keyboard tray and has a nice fabric pad on it rather than the rubbery stuff that degrades quickly.

Ok. After trying to install this for two hours now, I am so frustrated that I am returning the product. First of all. the template used to drill the holes under your desk is 1/2 inch too short on all sides, so I had to drill four more holes under the desk. Secondly, where it said to install caused it to stick out too much from the front of my desk. My chair kept knocking it when i pushed it in, bending the brackets back. And then I had to break off the little plastic tab that holds the keyboard in place because it was too short for my Logitech keyboard, and the edge of my keyboard rested on top of it, making it wobbly when typing. The mouse pad that pulls out is way too small. Overall a crappy product.

This is my second tray. The first one lasted four years with almost daily use. The tray has definitely been improved over the years. Much smoother action when being pushed away or brought out. The side tray for the mouse is also much sturdier. I definitely like having the keyboard beneath desk level. Makes my keyboard time much more comfortable. I recommend this tray to everyone. Why pay more?

Observations:
*The mouse pad part really is purple, not blue like it appears in the picture (on my screen, anyway).
*The wrist rest is clear. In the picture, it appears that the pattern has a white background, but it's actually completely clear.
*The edges of the mousing area are very slightly raised.
Pros:
*The graphics are imbedded within the wrist rest, so they won't wear off over time.
*The wrist rest is a nice cushy gel.
*The pad tracks well with my optical mouse.
*The underside of the pad is somewhat tacky, so it won't slide around on your desk.
*The colors are bright and vibrant.
Cons:
*The wrist rest is a plastic gel; it is not fabric covered, as I thought it would be. The gel surface creates a bit of drag against your wrist, which quickly becomes uncomfortable. Also, since it doesn't "breathe," as a fabric-covered rest would do, it could get kind of sweaty (making the drag problem worse).
*The mouse pad is very flexible, so if you are working on an uneven surface, it conforms to that, and you will lose your mouse signal in that spot.
This mouse pad met my wish list item of being attractive and providing wrist support, but I regret getting it. The drag against my wrist makes it impractical for extended use. I don't recommend it.

I purchased this gel mouse pad thinking the flat part where the mouse sits is blue based on Amazon's picture. Yet, it is actually purple. The gel wrist portion is multi color and rather eye catching.
I think the flat part where the mouse sits could be just a bit larger because sometimes when I move the mouse I run into the plastic edge that surrounds the mouse pad. The purple pad where the mouse moves around is about 7 1/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches. The gel portion feels very good on the wrists when typing.

great for cut-copy-paste.......2007-01-10
I do a lot of work on the computer that involves a lot of cut, copy and pasting between documents.
I recently bought a new computer. My old one was an e-machines. The old e-machines came with a non wireless keyboard that had 3 cut, copy, and paste buttons on the left side of the keyboard. I have found them invaluable in the tedious copy-paste operations I do in my every day work.
I was extremely disappointed to find that the e-machines keyboard buttons didn't work on the new computer, despite installing the proper drivers. I went searching for a replacement keyboard of any type or brand that had cut-copy-paste buttons anywhere on the keyboard. That is very hard to find for some strange reason.
Imagine my surprise and delight when I came across this keyboard. It has EXACTLY the same configuration as the old keyboard. It looks exactly the same in every way except it is wireless. I'm sure it must have been manufactured by the same company e-machines used.
The new keyboard works great. If you do a lot of copy and paste, this is the keyboard for you!

I always use this type of keyboard overlay and they work as promised if you take some care in applying them carefully on a clean keyboard. But if you expect it to arrive in the 7 days or that they project, think again. Mine took nearly a month.

I searched for a keyboard protection for my Dell 710m laptop. I chose this one because - including shipping - it was the cheapest available. I received the order form from amazon after 4 days and I submitted the order then on the fellowes website online. More than one week later I received a letter from yet another company (the actual producer of the covers), only indicating that I should contact amazon to get a refund. That was it - not even an explanation. I emailed them and they told me that they don't carry this (or other?) keyboard skin. In addition I have to spend even more time to request a refund from amazon. Good luck with your order...

I was hesitating to buy this service 'cuz I fear they don't customerize for laptops, especially mine is a newly released IBM T43p. But I was wrong. The keyboard skin just arrived and it fits perfectly! I love it and I no longer need to worry my sweat will contaminate the keyboard.
The con is you have to wait for three weeks or more before you get it. I hope they can speed up the delivery
