Rev3 Excellent - best yet.......2007-08-21

I have pretty bad RSI and I've been buying these since they first came out and the VM is what's allowed me to keep working with the least amount of pain. New to rev 3 is the adjustable dpi (a brilliant stroke that, something I really needed) and the flare at the base of the palm helpd with support.

I use them both at home and work - VERY highly recommended.

The Evoluent vertical mouse may single-handedly(!) put medical specialists in carpal tunnel syndrome out of business! While previously using an angled (but not vertical) mouse, I still had thumb/wrist/arm/elbow issues ... but do NOT after several weeks of Evoluent mouse use. (I'm an editor - and that calls for a LOT of mouse-use!) ALSO ... my first Evoluent mouse had a minor flaw ... and it was quickly exchanged (I didn't have to return mine until the new one arrived!!!) ... so customer service is tops! Inventor Jack Lo's signature is on the bottom of each Evoluent mouse for a reason: He stands behind each of his products! One of the best investments I've made in my health/comfort - that I use every day! - Amazed & Sold!

The Evoluent Vertical Mouse-2 should be on display in the Smithsonian Institute! It's the first computer input device I've found that conforms to the anatomy of the human hand in such a way, that its ergonomic benefits are immediately realized. After just one day, I quickly adapted to the vertical dynamic and I was hooked.
Most people who buy this device are those with medical issues and I'm no different. However, this mouse really should be considered by anyone who spends a lot of time on a computer. Following several months of daily use, I can attest that the Evoluent mouse prevents the on-set of wrist pain, feels great in your hand, and is actually fun to use!

best mouse i have found.......2007-06-23

I have rheumatoid arthritis and most of my job entails using a mouse. every mouse before would cause a flareup of my arthritis. i would have to switch hands throughout the day because of the strain to my wrists and hands. my company got me the evoluent vertical 3 and immediately felt the difference. i have had no flareups since using this mouse. thank you so much

Wonderful product.......2007-12-28

As a software developer, I spend eight to ten hours every day in front of my workstation.

Several years ago, I starting using my left hand for mousing because of chronic pain in my right shoulder. It was a good switch for me, though after a few years I started to feel some pain and general numbness in my left hand after long days at work.

After purchasing the Evoluent vertical mouse, my wrist discomfort and numbness went away after the FIRST DAY of use! If you haven't already read the product literature on the Evoluent web site, go read it.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a more ergonomic mouse.

I was in total misery using a regular mouse less than an hour a day. I have terrible right wrist problems from work injuries, both to the wrist and the neck. The neck also cause some problems on the left.

I badly needed an ergonomic mouse, but I thought why just get an ergonomic mouse for the right hand? Why not just completely switch hands for mouse use?

In my internet searches I ran across these Evoluent mouses, and the whole idea made so much sense to me. I ordered a left hand one, and it did take awhile to catch on to it really good, but I am right handed, so not only was I trying to work with my clumsy left hand, I was using a complete new style of mouse. The upshot is that I now use this Evoluent left handed mouse exclusively, and very adeptly. It is awesome. I highly recommend these mouses. Mine is the Vertical Mouse 2, and I have had it going on a year now. I see they have a new model VM 3 out now, and it is probably more advanced yet.

Another thing I notice is that you don't have to move the mouse all over the place all the time. You can do what you need to with a lot less squirreling around.

Well worth the money if you have any problems at all, and even if you don't (yet) You may be able to avoid future problems.

Great mouse - no more forearm pain !!!.......2007-10-16

I highly recommend the Evoluent Vertical Mouse. I am a graphic designer, and so I require a high level of accuracy and responsiveness in a mouse. I give the Evoluent an 'A' in both categories. I was nervous that the vertical alignment would be difficult to adapt to (especially for use with drawing/illustrating programs) but it was not a problem at all. I was up and running at full speed very soon. Shortly thereafter, I even forgot I was using a vertical mouse at all. It's second nature now! This product has COMPLETELY abated the pain I was having in my right forearm! I made no other changes to my workstation other than purchasing this mouse. I would recommend this to anyone!

My only complaint is that it's very easy to accidentally hit the 3rd button (at the bottom) when steering the mouse. I disabled the button so it doesn't click (I never use it with my Mac anyway), and now everything works great. The 3rd generation model may have solved this problem as a result of the changes to the design, but I'm not sure.

The reviewer who complains about his hand and pink dragging on the mousepad needs to turn up the tracking speed of his cursor and his "problem" would go away. Unless you are making huge sweeping motions with your mouse, this is a non-issue. I rest my wrist/heel of my hand on the pad and move the mouse without dragging my hand and arm all over the place. Not sure why this would be a problem for anyone, but I see that the 3rd generation model has added a small ledge at the bottom to keep your pinky off the mousepad.

My only warning is, as other people have pointed out, this is a large mouse and if you have small hands it may be hard to use.

All good except it's huge! It's like a gigantic mouse, of course, relative to my small hands. It took me a while to get used to it...I think Evoluent should manufacture S, M, L size mouses so that customers can choose based on their hands size.

Anyway, it's a good ergo mouse, though, definitely relieves the stress from twisting forearms... :)

Wonderful mouse.......2007-05-03

I had pain in my wrist and it went away once I bought this mouse. It is light and comfortable, only took me a few hours to get used to it. I definitively recommend it.

its a sweet mouse but..........2007-04-03

I love it, I was having some serious carple tunnel related issues for a long time but since I picked up this mouse I have STOPPED wearing a wrist brace at all.

one draw back (make that 2)
its to small for my large hands (I am 6'3") not much but enough to be a bit akward at first.
the second, it doesnt track all that great if you are a gamer and need that precision. its not bad but definitly not perfect.

I would probably go with the newest versrion of the mouse (and plan to soon) it addresses both of those issues and if it does so well will get a solid 5 stars from me

This review is for the V2 magenta/black and gray/white V1 models

Pros:

Some years ago, when my business (writing php/MySQL on-line database and general db applications) was in full swing, I developed a severe case of RSI in my right wrist.
It was so painful, I could not hold, touch or grab anything, not even a piece of paper.
I tried several alternative mice, like the 3M and others. All of them just didn't do the trick for me.

But I was in luck. At that time, Evoluent came out with the vertical mouse (version 1 back then). After 1 week using this thing I knew: this was IT. No more excruciating pain, even after hours of hard mouse-work.

After the significantly improved V2 left handed model came out I bought this too, so now I'm working with each hand only for a certain amount of time, reducing the stress on each hand even more. This led to being 100% free of all wristpain whatsoever(!) after exclusively using these mice while staying highly productive.

As an added bonus, the V2 models (magenta/black) are not only very sturdy, they are very elegant looking too.

I'm not even using a mousepad anymore, just plain wood-imitation desktop.
