I liked them, but they didn't last.......2007-10-11
Retractable feature works great, VERY convenient. But they broke after about 20 uses. Sound in one ear went out (would come in only if cord was fiddled with).
Cord length is 36", not 18" as the other reviewer said. At least mine is, I just measured it. That's the length from ear to jack, when in use. They stayed in my ears fine. I believe they only came with one size earbud, a medium size. The Sony Phontopia headphones (better quality, but non retractable) come with three sizes of earbuds.
Sound quality is decent, but perhaps a bit tinny when compared to the Sony's. It does block out noises well, by fitting snugly in the ear.
One quirk at the gym: When I set my video iPod in front of me, the built-in "case" in the middle of the cord bobs up and down like mad, unless I keep my head steady.
cord is too short & won't stay in ears.......2006-11-11
I recently bought these and they are awful. The ear pads are slippery and will not stay in my ears, plus the cord is only about 18 inches long, which is not even adequate for listening while sitting in front of my laptop. Uggh.

Non-Replaceable ear tips and bad cable microphonics.......2007-12-07
The sound coming from these tiny earbuds is great, considering the price, and they are actually quite comfortable. However, the tips are not replaceable. You have to buy a whole new set. Also, the cable is really bad for picking up sound. The retractable bit is nice in theory, but the middle case really weighs the buds down.

Please do not waste your money on this product. Design is flawed, yes, the sound is great but I am in the process of exchanging them for the 3rd time in only 4 months. Brookstone refuses a refund even though the product has a design flaw. They short out after a few uses. I have had to spend a lot of time on the phone with their reps, spent money on postage to return them and now will have to keep exchanging them until the 1 year warranty runs out then I will be stuck with a pair of defective earbuds. Please do not buy, if you must have retractable try a different brand!
bad manager at the south shore plaza store.......2007-07-19
i bought a retractable earbud at the brookstone store in their south shore plaza store #00113 in braintree, ma. we asked specifically if we can return this product, the salesman said yes. we tried to return it today because it keeps falling out of the ear. the manager, ernest said it can not be returned and it said so on the receipt, i read and re-read the receipt, it does not say so. to wrap up, beware if you buy stuff at brookstones. they used to be better, don't know what is going on with them. they seem to be falling lower compared to sharper image products.

DO NOT BUY THESE EARPHONES.......2006-10-26
Yes, these headphones are only $3.99. However, they are not worth a single penny. They showed up at my house Sept. 22 and lasted through the week of Oct. 15. The left earphone stopped working completely. Do the math, and that's less than a month that these things lasted. Pathetic. Don't waste your time and money on these worthless pieces of garbage. If I could, I would give this product 0 STARS.
