Product Description
Sync and charge your iPod, transfer files at lightning speeds, download your digital photos. The USB 2.0 dock does it all, and no other keyboard has it. The USB 2.0 Keyboard's Hi-Speed dock is up to 40 times faster than the low-speed USB 1.1 hubs found in other keyboards. It also saves you the clutter of adding a standalone dock or cable.

Nice concept, but shoddy keyboard.......2007-12-10
I purchased twelve of these and two have failed outright in 4 months. Failure is in the keys, which don't register the correct values. The USB feature works well, but overall the product is not a good value. On the plus side, Matias did replace the failed items promptly and without fuss.
Alright.......2007-08-22
This keyboard is pretty decent. It works perfectly fine so far and I love the USB hubs, which is the one and only reason I bought this. I could not find any other keyboard with that feature. Really, all keyboards should have that. It is so convenient. However, the one major gripe I have is that whoever designed this decided to move the Caps Lock key to the bottom for some reason. Its somewhat annoying because I keep forgetting it is down there. Other then that, its a good buy.
Two USB cables!.......2007-01-06
I purchased this keyboard due to a need to switch from PS/2 to USB (my notebook computer does not have PS/2 connectors, and did not work well with a USB to PS/2 adapter), and chose it based on the fact that it is a "USB 2.0" keyboard with built-in hub. I was disappointed to find out that the hub on the keyboard is for low speed USB devices only (USB 1.1?), but there is a USB socket on the top edge of the keyboard (pointing upwards) that is for USB 2.0 devices. The way this is accomplished is by using a second USB cable, probably wired only as a USB extension cable to this top socket.
So the keyboard cable is terminated in two USB connectors, and the documentation included with the keyboard says that both USB cables need to be connected for proper operation. I only have one USB connector available to me, which was the reason I needed the USB hub built-in (so I can daisy-chain my mouse). I am forced to return this keyboard, and find another with a built-in hub, without having plugged it in.
This keyboard should work fine for someone with two availble USB ports, and doesn't mind an upward-facing USB port for 2.0 devices (the other two ports are horizontal on the top edge, more like one would expect for a keyboard hub). Note that the keyboard construction and feel reflects its low price -- the plain HP keyboard that this unit was to replace is built like a tank in comparison.

Included is a 2-button mouse with a scroll wheel for quick, smooth scrolling through documents and web pages and a precision optical sensor for accurate tracking. It can be conveniently plug directly into the keyboard's USB hub, which is also ideal for use with MP3 players, USB flash drives, digital cameras and other USB 2.0 devices.
In addition to the dock, the keyboard also has a conventional 2-port USB hub located on the back. High-quality rubber dome key switches provide a quiet tactile feel, yet offer enough resistance to hold the weight of your hands and reduce long-term fatigue. A Tab key on the number pad allows one-handed number entry into forms and spreadsheets, leaving your other hand free to hold or flip through information being entered. The USB 2.0 Keyboard also has the standard volume controls of Volume Up, Volume Down and Mute. The white USB 2.0 Keyboard for Mac lets you easily find symbols they're all printed right on the keys. Simply hold down the Option key for the bottom-right characters or Shift and Option for the top-right characters. The menu shortcut symbols are there too, but the white USB 2.0 Keyboard also has and more. Weight - 88 grams (0.19 pounds) Cable - 76 cm (30 inch)

Eccentric.......2007-11-21
Some of the peculiarities of this keyboard have been mentioned, but how odd is it that it has two USB cables, and that both must be attached? Why do I want a keyboard to gobble up two USB ports (which happen, on some Macs, to be the ONLY USB ports). This ridiculous setup is to activate the USB 2.0 dock on top of the board for high-speed devices. I don't want to be compelled to attach high-speed devices to my keyboard -- I want to primarily attach them to my computer. With the Matias hogging both USB ports on a MacBook Pro, where am I supposed to plug in a hard drive? This is engineering without recognition of reality. Perhaps I can connect just one of the USB cables and exclude the dock, but the manual doesn't say; and that leaves one cable unattractively dangling. The original Apple keyboard comes with a USB extension cable, but the Matias isn't compatible with the Apple extension cable and therefore doesn't reach as far, unless you buy TWO generic USB extension cables. I need more cables like a hole...
Apple could obviate this by making quality keyboards again.
Matias USB 2.0 Keyboard.......2007-10-25
I've been using the Matias USB 2.0 on a MacMini for a month now, and it is an excellent choice. I've been using an old Apple Extended for years but a key is sticking. I heard that the Matias version ($149) is awesome, but it's beyond my price range. So I decided to try the Matias USB 2 instead and the results have been impressive with nothing derogatory to report. It is very responsive and compares favorably to the old Apple board, which has a great feel but really clacks loudly. The Matias USB 2 is not only a satisfactory replacement, but it's also a lot quieter. Plus, the version I ordered comes with a matching mouse. Good deal.
Matias USB 2.0 Keyboard.......2007-01-28
Great keyboard. Good price from Amazon. No unsolvable problems with its use with my Mac. I have not used the mouse as I prefer a tablet/mouse system. I would have allotted a 5 star rating except for the lack of information with the keyboard and response from Matias regarding questions I had on the use of the board. If you are knowledgable of keyboards, you should have no heavy problems.
Cadillac of wired keyboard/mouse combos for Mac.......2007-01-10
Beautiful execution, cushioned, speed loving response from keys, best keyboard I never knew I always needed since 1980 when I started owning Apple. ipod Dock on Keyboard and 2 each 2.0 USB ports. Needs twin 2.0 USB ports on computer (or hub?) to work at maximum speed.
Sadly I almost didn't buy, due to the only review here, which was super negative. But I did the thing right, traveled the Internet for other reviews, and learned other points of view.
My only puzzlement is why keyboard doesn't respond on some startups so I disconnect and reconnect twin USB connectors to computer. May be more convenient to connect to a hub on desk as this happens about every 6th startup. Tech support, Cananda, is very responsive. I suspect they are like the Maytag repairman ad that used to be on TV....they probably don't have much work to do. Its a great product.
Where's the CAPS LOCK?.......2006-09-14
A real piece of junk:
This is marketed as a MAC keyboard but who needs 2 CONTROL keys, one above the other?
The SPACE bar is all crooked: higher on one end then on the other.
The TAB key is sunken down from all the other keys.
No CAPS LOCK key. WTF
It feels like I'm typing on a Commodore 64 keyboard and frequently double tyypess.
DO NOT BUY THIS piece of junk - get a real Apple Mac keyboard.

Matias has even BETTER keyboards!.......2007-07-31
If you are looking for a keyboard-as-a-mono-hub with a single USB 2.0, but otherwise has the same kind of dome membrane switch you find on five dollar keyboards... then this keyboard will fit the bill.
If you are looking for a keyboard you will actually want to type on, consider the Matias Tactile Pro 2.0 keyboard. Two models, one for Mac, one for PC or Mac. That is the Matias flagship keyboard, and it has a single USB 2.0 port as well, with a pleasant tickety-tick mechanical switch key mechanism. Just a hair below happy-finger-nirvana from the louder clickety-clack of the old IBM PC buckling spring technology keyboards.
MATIAS USB 2.0 Keyboard.......2007-05-22
This keyboard has been a very good value. The 2.0 usb port is the main reason I purchased this model, and it's fast & easy to access. For anyone with a flash drive or an I-pod to connect, this board is it. I also find I like the multiple character access available on each key. 3 or 4 characters are achieveable from each key, depending on shift or control. The keys have a nice feel with a positive contact that gives you the feedback that you depressed the key but not hard to stroke. For those that remember typewriters, this keyboard has a better feel than some computer keyboards I've used. The price was also a pleasant feature and I really don't know why anyone wouldn't like this keyboard. I've had it now for about a month so if I were to have a complaint it would have arisen by now.
Why switch keys around?.......2007-05-17
everything is good with the keyboard, keys responsive - a little to 'springy' for me.
2 usb plugs you need to plug into the computer - then you get 3 usb ports on the keyboard. one directly above 11/12 number keys.
* THE BIG GRIPE - moving the cap locks key to bottom right of keyboard (IN BETWEEN option and control!) and having another control key where caps lock normally is. ?!?!?!? How about keeping the keys where we're used to them. As a lefty, i NEED to access the option/control keys on the right.... i don't need an extra key in the middle to confuse me.
it coulda been a contender....
Still can't decide if I like it..........2007-04-03
I'm in two minds about this product.
The USB2 is great though the positioning is a bit suspect as i find that the cable for whatever I plug in tends to naturally lie across the keys.
The extra symbols are great but can make it look like a spider has crawled across it, stopping the primary letters from standing out.
The key action is why I dropped a star. I was using a Macally Icekey (scissor/laptop action) that was great but it failed after a few months. I just find the key travel long and the resistance uncomfortable, maybe I'll get used to it.
So, in summary, a nice keyboard but would be improved with scissor action.

Good value.......2007-02-11
Other than having to do a little adjustment in the Keyboard and Mouse/Preferences, very good product.
Well laid out, comfortable, pretty sturdy--good bang for the buck.
Cheap and defective........2006-11-21
I received this keyboard today and I'm returning it. The escape key and the spacebar are very wobbly. The A through G keys are completely non-functional, as is one of the volume keys. Too bad, because I like the simple look of the keyboard, and the USB ports are very nice.
This product is cheaply made. Avoid it.

Product Description
Unlike other keyboards made today, each key on the Tactile Pro 2.0 is built on an individual Matias Mechanical Keyswitch. Based on the Alps Keyswitch, the new Matias Mechanical Keyswitch recreates the tactile feedback and force curve of the original Alps design, ensuring maximum performance, greater comfort, and faster typing speeds. You will feel the difference immediately. The Built-in USB 2.0 Dock lets you sync and charge your iPod, transfer files and download your digital photos at lightning speeds. Ideal for use with USB flash drives, MP3 players, digital cameras and other USB 2.0 devices. It's also much less clutter than a standalone dock or cable.
The Optimize key puts the commands you use most right at your fingertips. Hold down Optimize and you have entire rows of Cut, Copy, and Paste keys, so you'll never miss. Hold down Optimize and the keys under your right hand become arrow keys. Combine with Shift to select individual characters, words and even entire lines. Hold down Optimize and the Number Pad becomes an Arrow Pad. Combine with Shift to select multiple cells in Excel. A dedicated TAB key on the Number Pad lets you speed through forms and spreadsheets, and leaves your other hand free to flip through data being entered from receipts, documents, etc.
