The Logitech LX3: a great mouse.......2007-12-26
It does what it's supposed to do. That's all I wanted. My main concern was to replace my Mighty Moue, which had horizontal scrolling. I love Apple computers, but the Mighty Mouse has a problem. The scrolling mechanism gets dirty and stops working. it can be cleaned, but eventually, may stop working, regardless. The Logitech is the answer. it was a relief going back to the more familiar scroll wheel. Gently push it sideways for horizontal scrolling. The only thing missing is the expose side buttons, but I don't mind hitting F9 instead - an insignificant trade-off for a superior product. Thanks, Logitech, for the best mouse I've ever used!
I don't like it.......2007-12-25
it's work fine with my laptop and desktop
and window xp and vista also
the other thing is good
grip is also good
but when I use wheel click, (rigth click and left click are perfectily fine, but only wheel click)
mouse sometimes ignore my wheel click.
it may means you need to click harder this mouse than average wheel mouse
the other thing is perfect, but the problem is I'm using wheel click
continuously only one problem is very big problem for me..
but some people do not use wheel click, so if you do not use wheel
it will be fine for you. and whee scroll sound is bad
Perfect for me, comfy - price is right!!.......2007-06-10
I bought this mouse from another page on Amazon for the same model LX3, black. When it arrived it was pleasingly blue. Had I seen it in blue first I would have ordered here. I reviewed it on the other page so altho I responded to some negatives (big handers) will just copy same review here.
After reading all these reviews I wonder why somebody doesn't come up with a new product where one could make a mold of our hand and a custom mouse that fits an individual, or one that comes in sizes, length and width like shoes. I just had a mold made for my bite for a new tooth that fits me perfectly. Why not a mouse that fits like an old pair of shoes? Features are secondary to comfort for me. But back to very limited income budget outlay...
This mouse, my third replacement in 3 weeks, was made for me. I have small narrow lady's hands with long piano fingers and nails, so width and length is just right. I spend way too much time on my pc I know, but disabled, age 70, not much else to do laying here but become a shameless gamer. My long loved small cordless Gyration (gone thru 2) quit holding a charge more than 2 hours, conking out on timed games argg, recharging the other battery pack like an addict needing my fix, battery recharger always cooking something. Cordless and games don't mix. So, I decided to get wired for dependency and cut the stress. Those only last 2 years, $125 with keyboard. When not on games I also spend hours reading news sites, typing a lot, message boards, forums, email, most my shopping, ebay, maybe 16 hours with 8 hours off to sleep if I'm good, altho known to fall asleep with mouse in hand tsk tsk.
This soft comfort smooth sided model with a gentle slope is nice for sensitive skin, bony knuckles. My last Logitech corded MX310 optical was a good 3/4 inch wider, the sharp hard top edge hitting inside my fourth finger and knuckle, very sore in an hour. Wide spread from thumb to pinky tiresome. Big handers here may find that model comfortable. A week was enough for me. Had to sacrifice extra features like side buttons for Back, Fwd surfing and button for menu of open tasks for the simple soft feel of this LX3 I bought used off this page. Price was right without having to wait for mfg rebate.
I thought I had to partially load the software for the zoom but maybe I wasn't doing the button right at first with just the USB plug and play. I just limped out of a week in HP hell with printer drivers and had to buy a new printer to resolve that mess. Held my breath but the install hasn't messed anything up, simple for just the mouse settings. Uncheck all else.
Added bonus for me, I always use the font size changes on IEx toolbar from Accessibility Options for reading from my bed. Messes up some web pages but this zoom doesn't, turns off and on with a click without pointing at the toolbar icon. Now I can bump up fonts easily and to bold right on the mouse controls when reading text. Love that!! Plus, this one is blue and silver, another bonus, not black. I see now it is LX3 Opt Special Edition also on another Amazon page.
I've had Logitech cordless keyboard and mouse, a pain keeping them going, frequency interference changes, batteries. No more!! This LX3 feels familiar, most like the Gyration set I held hands with for years. I bought a brand new pc HP Pavillion Media Edition, couldn't believe a ball mouse came with it! What cheapos!! I don't use a mouse pad, ergonomic needs I use the optical on my bed, elbows close to my body keeps pressure off neck and shoulder arthritis. This moves fast and smooth on soft cotton surface.
Now that I had time to play some games, surf, write some email and message boards, I'm thrilled I took another chance and got what is perfect for me this time. Hope it lasts and not just another in the dead mouse coffin we probably all have. But with this price, easy to toss and buy again. Maybe I should buy a spare in case it is discontinued?

One more nice Logitech.......2007-11-27
A very nice mouse for the price. I bought it as a secondary computer mouse but now using it instead of Apple mighty mouse.
I used to use an MX7 cordless before, of course it's not compared to that one (especially when my big hands are in account) but still a very smooth mouse.
I'd pay a little more for a cordless version if existed. But there's still a "bigger & handful" mouse in my mind.
I found the "scroll click" buttons very useful. Nudging the scroll wheel left&right gives you two programmable clicks. I use it as a keyboard stroke and saves "a lot of time"
Just a little reminder, I'm experiencing a premature "carpal tunnel syndrome" and using that "scroll click" with my index finger seems to be causing some pain @ near future. Not a minus for the product, just a reminder for guys like me.
Overall: A good product. A good price/performance ratio. I'd prefer a bigger mouse but would be o.k. for most people.
Reminder: Please pay attention on your working ergonomics. When it hurts, it hurts really bad!
Falls far short of an MS mouse.......2007-09-20
I needed a new mouse for use at work and in our catalog all the mice were Logitech. I have a history of using Microsoft mice, but for no particular reason other than familiarity. But I figured a logitech mouse would be just as good, so I ordered this, which seemed cheap and functional.
The physical mouse gets the job done, clicks fine, scrolls fine, etc. I appreciate the scroll + tilt wheel. It works as it should. I also appreciate the "click" feel of the logitech scroll wheel compared to the new "smooth" feel of MS scrolling - it helps my precision greatly.
However, given the amount of time my hand spends on a mouse during the day, I like to make it work for me, and I have appreciated the Intellipoint software that MS uses with its mice. I was shocked to find that the logitech software is vastly inferior, at least for my preferences. It has only rudimentary button assignment, and limits your choices significantly more than the MS mice do.
1. For instance, I like to assign a middle click to the "back" function for use in navigating both web pages and my own folders. But logitech does not offer this as an option.
2. The MS Intellipoint software also allows you to assign different button responses in different programs, so you can keep your horizontal scrolling in spreadsheets, but use the tilt wheel for other things in other programs. No such luck with the logitech.
3. One of the biggest productivity enhancers for me about specialized mouse software has been accelerated scrolling. I don't know why this is not standard, but it's SO useful, and makes scrolling through long documents much more manageable without sacrificing fine control. This too is absent with the logitech software.
So while the mouse itself is functional, I think the point of buying a (semi)fancy one like this (instead of using the generic one that comes with your computer) is to use all its features to improve productivity. I would not recommend this product to someone who feels similarly.
For this price, great mouse.......2007-08-11
does the job, comfortable, good material. Of course, the MX1000 is better but this is a good cheapo.
Just right for me - comfy & great buy!.......2007-06-10

Smooth but awkward.......2007-06-05
I was immediately disappointed when I began to use the mouse. It is certainly stylish, well-crafted and engineered. But the click was loud, heavy, and sluggish - possibly owing to the fact that the left and right buttons are made of one continuous sheet of plastic, bent and split in the middle so as to provide separate contacts around the wheel. What's more, the height of the click panels is more than I was accustomed to. I began to develop a small ache after several minutes.
All of this may be a simple matter of personal preference. But subtle and quiet this mouse is not. The included software is helpful if you want to customize which function goes where - I did not. A nifty ps/2 - usb adapter was an added bonus.
