HP 5610 Gets My Vote!.......2007-12-31
First, the service - I ordered this from Amazon using Free Shipping on Friday night. It arrived Tuesday morning!! Like others here I found it simple to hook up and use. I must admit that reading the problem reviews gave me some caution. Tips from those reviews are 1) READ and follow the instructions as written - don't jump ahead or hook up something out of order from the directions. That can foul up the whole set-up and be difficult to undo. Second, RE the USB cabel; actually the directions do mention the cabele purchased separatly and the outside of the box list the USB cable as a 'don't forget to purchase extra'. I have read elsewhere that a simple USB cable can almost make or break a printer. So I got the name brand Belkin along with extra 56 ink cartridges. I am super sensitive to noise yet this printer is almost too quiet and I sometimes forget to shut it off. It has been over 12 years since I purchased a new printer and I am thrilled with this machine. I'll be more thrilled when Mitt Romney wins Iowa and New Hampshire;-) !!!! (just couldn't resist the moment:) Anyway - 5 stars to HP 5610 and REMEMBER - follow directions - don't jump ahead - use quality USB cable and don't connect it t'ill directions say to. You'l be a happy camper:) Then sit back and watch it go like Mitt..Go Mitt, Go!!
Ink cartridge sucker of the year.......2007-12-30
If you want to see how many ink cartridges you can buy in the shortest amount of time this is the printer for you. I use my printer at home with minimal printing and yet have had to buy new color cartrdiges within a week and 1/2 of replacing the first.
Worst printer I've ever bought.......2007-12-30
I bought this as a replacement for an old Epson all-in-one that performed well for years, but had the famous Epson ink guzzling issue.
Scans for this All-in-One have been blurry and with poor resolution. The resultant scans are unusable.
The printer prints OK in black but use of colored ink results in bleeding and blurring, even within the same document and on high quality paper.
Although it says it works with HP '56' cartridges, it gives a cartridge error message when installing one. 22 and 27 cartridges are accepted.
All in all, this is going in the trash.
Slow as molasses.......2007-12-29
Do not buy this printer for any point of sale activity. It prints very slowly even on the draft setting. The machine also eats toner ink quite fast. Outside of that I guess it is alright.
Wow- everything went wrong except sending fax.......2007-12-23
After about 6 months of VERY light use - we can't print, copy or receive faxes because we constantly get "ink carriage jammed" error message and the scanner software NEVER worked. After several calls, HP Customer Support is still trying to see if it's under warranty. But with so many things NOT working on this ALL-IN-ONE, I can't recommend it at ANY price.

Customer Reviews:
Great Printer!.......2007-12-20
This is my first time getting laser printer. And HP Laserjet 1020 was great choice! I just received it today. Little worried about getting it so cheap. However, it works great. It only took about 5 seconds to print the first page out.
The only thing I had hard time on was to install it. I didn't know the manual guide was in the CD. You'll have to put cd in first to get started.
Otherwise, it's very reliable, comfortable and good!
I love this printer!
not so good.......2007-12-19
I used this printer for a year, it was working fine, and never got paper jam, and working fine with windows XP, and Vista. However margin is not
perfect exact. every time when I print my document out margin is always littel different. I printed out same page 10 times every margin of paper is different. it was very annoying me
My toner was out last week, so I got the other printer --Brother HL-2070N Network Monochrome Laser Printer (Black)-- I think it is better than this one.
it is five dollars cheaper than HP.
and spec is higer than HP.
brother HL-2070N VS HP1020
Print speed: Up to 20 ppm VS 14 ppm A4-size
(I used both printer and brother is faster than HP)150-sheet
input capacity : 250 sheet VS 150-sheet
Memory: 16 MB VS 2 MB
Standard interfaces: Hi-Speed USB 2.0, IEEE-1284 Parallel, 10/100 BaseT Ethernet VS Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port
Hp is little quite than brother. but it is not big deal for me
or You can compare with the other printers
but in my case, the worst thing is the imprecise margin
Incredible for the price.......2007-12-18
At 99 bucks, it costs not much more than the toner cartridge.
It's more than 4 times as fast as the HP 4P I paid 999 bucks for back around circa 1990 or so. The 4P lasted over 15 years. This 1020 is not built likt a tank, whereas the 4P might have been able to withstand a nuclear blast at ground zero.
However, the 1020 is tiny in comparison, and I printed a 34 page document using the manual duplex feature of the printer driver in less than 10 minutes, including the time it took to follow the printer driver's directions in flipping the paper over. I was astonished that such a low priced laser was pushing a new page out every 4 seconds. (All text, by the way, no graphics whatsoever in that document.
When I first set the 1020 up, I was near ready to toss it out in the dumpster as the long print jobs were failing. However, I tried a new USB cable (less than 3 bucks at the grocery store! go figure....) and just finished 3 30+ page documents without a hitch. The new cable is a lot snugger than the old one was and it obviously made a difference.
I'd highly recommend this printer if you have a need to print a lot of b&w documents. The feed reliability seems to be very good, the manual duplex feature works great, and it is scads cheaper than burning up those inkjet cartridges for non-color documents. Plus, the ink doesn't smear! :)
happy with printer.......2007-12-10
The printer arrived quickly and works great.
I am 100% happy with my purchase.
Great printer, but HP refuses to support Vista (or XP 64-bit).......2007-12-07
I love this printer. But it transformed from a great little printer into a useless piece of plastic when I upgraded to Vista (on one machine) and XP 64-bit (on my other machine).
HP's customer support was useless. The worst thing is that they actually have the drivers available on the website, but you have to purchase them for $20 and wait for a CD to arrive. They might be available for download sometime in 2008, but I'm not holding my breath.
C'mon HP, you're dropping the ball. I just recommended that our office manager buy a fancy, big, expensive Lexmark for our new network printer because I was annoyed with your customer support. So this little decision to ask me for $20 for the drivers just cost you about $1000 in a lost sale.

The 15.4-inch high-definition BrightView display looks good even in direct sunlight, and you'll enjoy movies or music in seconds with the external DVD or music buttons to launch HP QuickPlay (which bypasses the boot process). Easily manage your digital photo library and share with friends and family using the included HP Photosmart Premier software. This stylish laptop also features a high-gloss, durable HP Imprint finish with an inlaid wave design.
This notebook is powered by the 1.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 processor, which offers a 20 percent performance boost over its predecessor while using 28 percent less power--so you get the benefit of a powerful dual-core PC plus all the benefits of mobility. It includes Intel's 4965 AGN wireless LAN, which will connect to draft 802.11n routers and offers compatibility with 802.11a/b/g networks as well. This notebook also features a 160 GB hard drive, 1 GB of installed RAM (4 GB maximum), 8x multi-format/dual-layer DVD+/-RW drive (which also burns CDs), ExpressCard slot, and Intel GMA X3100 video/graphics card with up to 251 MB of shared video memory. It also has a 1.3-megapixel WebCam (with integrated microphone), enabling easy video conferencing via VoIP and video IM chats.
It comes preinstalled with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium, which includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center. In addition to easily playing your DVD movies and managing your digital audio library, you'll be able to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV). Vista also integrates new search tools throughout the operating system, includes new parental control features, and offers new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures.
The Basics
- Processor: The Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 processor has a 1.5 GHz processor speed, fast 667 MHz front-side bus (FSB), and large 2 MB L2 cache. (An L2, or secondary, cache temporarily stores data; and a larger L2 cache can help speed up your system's performance. The FSB carries data between the CPU and RAM, and a faster front-side bus will deliver better overall performance.)
The Intel Core 2 Duo processor has two computational execution cores in a single processor, providing greater system response when running multi-threaded applications simultaneously with no significant increase in power consumption. It's optimized for multitasking and is ready to support the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system. It can simultaneously run multiple demanding applications--such as graphics-intensive games or serious number-crunching business productivity applications--while downloading music or running virus-scanning security programs in the background. Some of the advanced Intel innovations of the Core 2 Duo processor include:
- Smart Memory Access: Improves system performance by hiding memory latency, thus optimizing the use of available computer data bandwidth to provide data to the processor when and where it is needed.
- Advanced Digital Media Boost: Effectively doubles the execution speed for instructions used widely in multimedia and graphics applications.
- Dynamic Power Coordination: Coordinates Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology and idle power-management state (C-states) transitions independently per core to help save power.
- Deeper Sleep with Dynamic Cache Sizing: Saves power by flushing cache data to system memory during periods of inactivity to lower CPU voltage.
- Hard Drive: The 160 GB hard drive (5400 RPM) offers enough to room to hold a digital audio library of over 26,000 songs and still have room left over for movies, games, and a large collection of software. This Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.
- Memory: The 1 GB of installed RAM (2 x 512 MB DDR2) is a good start, but you'll want to add more RAM to handle today's demanding multimedia and productivity suites. It provides two DIMM slots and has a 4 GB maximum RAM capacity. To receive the faster data transfer benefits of the dual-channel DDR2 RAM, any RAM additions require memory modules of same capacity and clockspeed.
- DVD/CD Drive: This multiformat DVD/CD drive is compatible with writing both DVD+ and DVD- disc formats as well as dual-layer (DL) DVD+/-R discs, which can store up to 8.5 GB of data. It features 4x DVD-R DL Write Once, 2.4x DVD+R DL Write Once, 8x DVD+R, 4x DVD+RW, 8x DVD-R, 4x DVD-RW, 16x DVD-ROM, 40x CD-R, 24x CD-RW, and 40x CD-ROM speeds.
This LightScribe DVD+/-RW drive lets you laser-etch silkscreen quality text and images on to CDs and DVDs . Your software, PC and discs work together for a no-hassle way to burn just the labels you want. After you burn content, just flip the disc over, reinsert and burn your label--anything from a simple title to a full-disc work of art.
- Keyboard & Mouse: This notebook has a 101-key keyboard and a touchpad with on/off button and dedicated vertical/horizontal Scroll Up/Down pad. It also includes two quick-launch buttons (HP QuickPlay Music and DVD).
Screen, Video & Audio
You'll enjoy razor-sharp graphics and widescreen movies with the 15.4-inch WXGA high-definition screen, which displays an 18 percent larger picture than standard 15-inch screens and offers up to an 18 percent improvement in contrast ratio. It has a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels--perfect for watching DVD movies the way they were meant to be seen. Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which uses shared video memory (up to 251 MB allocated from the system memory) and provides Windows Vista Aero interface support and enhanced 3-D graphics performance--delivering over 2x scores on 3-DMark 06. Intel Clear Video Technology provides outstanding video playback with sharper image quality, increased clarity, and customizable color controls. It also enables enhanced visual quality of interlaced content on progressive displays.
The Altec Lansing speakers provide exceptional sound, and a pair of stereo earbud headphones with volume controls is included. You'll be able to privately share enjoyment of multimedia with a friend via the dual headphone jacks.
Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
Be ready for the next platform in wireless connectivity with the integrated Intel Wireless Wi-Fi Link 4965 AGN LAN chip. Based on the draft 802.11n Wi-Fi specification, it offers up to five times the performance and twice the wireless range as existing 802.11g wireless. It's also backward compatible with 802.11b/g networks (commonly found in home routers and Wi-Fi hotspots) as well as 802.11a networks (which has a higher throughput, but more limited range--great for closed office environments).
It also includes a next-generation ExpressCard 54/34 card slot (though no standard PCMCIA slot), which lets you take advantage of thinner, faster, and lighter expansion cards for even more advanced wireless, networking, storage, and security features. You get a good offering of connectivity options:
- 3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting a wide range of peripherals--from digital cameras to MP3 players
- 1 FireWire (also known as IEEE 1394 or i.Link) port for connecting digital video camcorders and other peripherals
- 1 VGA monitor port
- 1 S-Video port for connecting to a TV
- 1 ExpressCard 54/34
- 2 headphone jacks and 1 microphone jack
- 1 notebook expansion port 3 (for use with the HP xb3000 Expansion Base or the HP Notebook QuickDock)
- 1 consumer IR (infrared)
- 5-in-1 memory card reader (Secure Digital, MultiMedia, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, xD Picture Card)
It also has an integrated 56K modem (V.90) and an RJ-45 LAN network port (for a 10/100 Ethernet connection to networks and DSL/cable modems).
Operating System
Windows Vista Home Premium is the operating system for users with advanced computer needs, and it includes all of the Windows Media Center capabilities for turning your PC into an all-in-one home entertainment center for watching DVD movies and accessing your digital audio library. You can also use Windows Media Center to record and watch your favorite TV shows (even HDTV) and to access new kinds of online entertainment content. Computers that include Windows Vista Home Premium and an auxiliary Windows SideShow display will also allow you to access key data even when your computer is off. It is also easier than ever to share files between other PCs in your household and to manage your laptop computer settings to more securely connect via Wi-Fi.
Every edition of Windows Vista provides the essential tools and technologies to help protect you whether you are browsing the Internet, connecting to a wireless network, or just reading e-mail. All editions of Windows Vista include new tools that can warn you of impending hardware failures long before you have lost any important personal data. And, all Windows Vista editions include parental control features that allow you to manage and monitor your family's use of games, the Internet, instant messaging, and other activities.

ought to be very good but..........2007-12-30
I bought an HP Pavilion DV6662SE witn all the features advertised by Amazon. I bought it together with the Pergus case. Both arrived well.
I turned on the laptop...beautiful it worked!!! so nice so...new!!! I was thrilled!!! But oh taugh luck... half of the software supposely advertised wouldn't work; Th HP Total Care Advisor wasn't properly installed, I contacted the HP support center and they told me that unfortunately there wasn't any possibility to download the program or worse no way to buy it; so I had to download it from one of those "unofficial freeware site" and fortunately IT DID WORK!!! but not thank to Amazone or HP... ·#2... the buit-in webcam never work I know I need a software or driver for it from HP, but teir help wouldn't work and I'm still struggleling to make it fuctional...#3, the Wi Fi conncection... it came disable from the box and for one reason or another I cound't make it work, even with the very kind help of the HP guy who was on online help support trying to tell me what to do. I'm not a computer wiz' but I work with them all the time.
In the laptop it self, there is no enough print information , like a good instruction manual, the HTML help in the machine not always correspond with what you have in your hands. In a nut shell: this laptop should be a hell of a good machine, even with the nightmare of Window Vista Home Premium... (It suks!!!)but people from Amazon should have technitians to make sure that the product they advertise and sell are in 100% working conditions ( You can't returned it IF you Oponed the box !!!and how in the world are you going to guess that the software or your product is not working if you don't open the box???) Product(Lap Top): Could be very nice if it is well configurated. Amazon: Don't buy expensive stuff if you cannot touch it, and tried. Once your purchase is in your hands... you're on your own...
Great Machine at a Great price.......2007-12-28
I purchased this machine after much research in the under $1000 category, for my new college student. The power, storage, quality and detail features at this price point are unmatched. I found few others with 4gb ram expansion possibilities and a 250gb HDD. Screen resolution is excellent. Overall build and feel is superior. The end user likes the quiet keyboard.
The only real negative is Windows Vista. While not slow at all, Vista has lots of unnecessary stuff that it decides for you. If this machine had XP on it, it would be amazing....
Overall very satisfied and recommend it.
Nice laptop for the price.......2007-12-28
This is a nice looking and complete enterteinment notebook for the price. Just a little slow sometimes but this is because the Windows Vista and the short RAM memory that comes from the factory. I recommend to expand it to 4 GB (maximum) so you can feel the difference on the speed. The computer sometimes get frozen and I need to re-start it. According to another user, this problem can be fixed by updating BIOS versions. I still recommend this computer just in case your budget is low.
awesome.......2007-12-28
Simply the best bang for the buck. Centrino duo processor is blazing fast, speakers are pretty decent, but the case and construction are its distinction. To see this laptop is to love it, it looks sleek and glossy. It also includes a memory card reader built in as well as a super cool remote so you can view slideshows, movies, etc on a Tv or monitor without being right upto the laptop. Also has built in webcam and mic for home movie making for Youtube or anything. Widescreen is crystal clear, you wouldn't believe the difference in things from photos to even mundane webpages. Another good feature of the product is how cool it remains during operation, and without the use of loud exhaust fans. If you were shopping an Apple for its design, this PC is definitely worth a look. HP must have been crazy when they packed all this technology into such a sleek design at such an attractive price.
HP pavilion notebook .......2007-12-27
excellent laptop, performs as stated and expected. Easy to get up and running with no problems encountered when placed in my home network.

This notebook also features a 250 GB hard drive, 2 GB of installed RAM (4 GB maximum), 8x multi-format/dual-layer DVD+/-RW drive (which also burns CDs), ExpressCard slot, and Intel GMA X3100 video/graphics card with up to 384 MB of shared video memory.
- Hard Drive: The 250 GB Serial ATA hard drive is more than double the average size for notebook PCs, and it offers a fasts 5400 RPM disk speed--an improvement over other notebooks with extra-large hard drives. It provides more than enough capacity for storing documents, digital media files, and video editing software. This SATA hard drive also quickens the pace with a higher speed transfer of data--akin to FireWire and USB 2.0.
- Memory: The 2 GB of installed RAM (2 x 1024 MB DDR2) will satisfy many users, but this notebook's two DIMM slots have a maximum 4 GB RAM capacity--perfect for high-end video editing and 3-D gaming. The additional capacity helps boost the amount of available video RAM that's shared with this notebook's video card.
Video is powered by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100, which uses shared video memory (up to 384 MB allocated from the system memory) and provides Windows Vista Aero interface support and enhanced 3-D graphics performance--delivering over 2x scores on 3-DMark 06.
- 2 headphone jacks (1 with S/PDIF digital audio compatibility) and 1 microphone jack

HP W2207 22" widescreen FPD Monitor.......2007-12-31
Monitor is awesome. Bright and clear. Takes a little getting use to the extra width but its the best monitor I've boughten to date. Price was very reasonable for a monitor of this size. I would recommend this monitor to everyone.
Absolutely fantastic!.......2007-12-30
This is, by far, one of the best monitors I've ever seen. Stellar picture and performance. Very versatile, can be moved and craned for almost any position. Can also be used in portrait mode. Looks great over VGA but I would suggest purchasing a DVI cable.
Given, the price is high. But trust me, you get what you pay for.
Good, not great.......2007-12-30
Purchased this to replace my square 19" monitor. After getting this and setting it up, I noticed that the screen was askew just a little bit. I could not get it to sit level. Not noticeable to my wife, but I am OCD like that, so it went back to Amazon.
Now, as far as the monitor itself, it had a great picture and the stand adjustability was great. If it wasn't crooked, it would have stayed and I am sure that I would have been happy with it. I have since purchased two Samsung 245BW's and am very happy with those. The extra 2" of screen space makes a BIG difference! But if you are in the market for a 22", I think you will be happy with this one. That is, if you get one that sits level!
Near Perfect Monitor.......2007-12-28
I love this monitor, I've had it for several months now and haven't had too many issues with it. The only things I have noticed is that I can't get the DVI cable to work, but to be fair I tried once and said I'll try the old school monitor cable. Second, I get stuck pixels maybe once a week, but I do a pixel massage and it has worked every time. I'll be watching for a price drop and then I may buy a second one. It's nice to see that HP can still do something right every now and then.
For a monitor it's size, it fits into the smallest space possible which helps eliminate the bulk. I live in a dorm and all my neighbors have been in the market for my monitor since I got it. The place for the lock on the back is strong and I feel safe leaving it.
The picture is stellar, almost as if I have upgraded my graphics card. Very bright and crisp!
HP w2207 LCD monitor.......2007-12-24
Exceptional Screen, good response time, Great color, and very ture clors if you are into photo editing. DVD's also look great.
It not only has excellent adjustments for height, tilt but the screen can be rotated 90 degrees as well. This is a big plus that you will not find in monitors of this price.
Just watch the back lighting and this monitor is almost the best on the market.
The HP w2207 LCD Monitor would be perfect, if it had a better refresh rate, even if it was 70hz.
Overall I believe his monitor is one of the best I seen and a great buy.

Customer Reviews:
Satisfied.......2007-12-31
Solid all around printer for a very good price. All expectations met. No complaints. I would recommend this product to someone looking for a fairly inexpensive and versatile printer.
Great price for a fax machine and copier. Not a bad printer........2007-12-29
I wanted a fax machine and copier that were independent of the computer and didn't want to spend a lot of money since they won't be used on a regular basis. This was the perfect answer. I am very happy with all of the functions of this machine.
i'm very satisfied.......2007-12-23
I needed an inexpensive small footprint fax machine for light home/office use. I've had this about a month, have used it lightly, it has worked consistently and seems solid. Set up was extremely easy and straightforward. I first got a regular fax machine made by Brother, the model 575, which i liked at first but soon found that the paper frequently jammed, even if i only put a few sheets, and after only about three weeks of very light use, it said it needed a new ribbon. I returned it to Staples and tried to find another model there that would not be too big and would hold more paper, but everything else was way too big for my space. While i was there i saw this HP 4315 and liked the size but it was about $90 and i liked the price of the Brother better. I went home and looked at Amazon reviews and found that the larger fax machines by Brother and others also had reports of frequent paper jams and ribbon changes. I also saw that Amazon had this HP 4315 for $59. I was trying to decide when i found one of these on Craigs List for $45 and figured for that price i could try it out and take a chance. It was in like new condition and i've been very happy with it, much easier for me to set up than the Brother which i needed to call tech support for a little help with, and it definitely has a more solid feel than the Brother did and has had no problems whatsoever, whereas i was not receiving all my faxes with the Brother, though i was never sure if this was due to the fax machine or some other problem, but have received all with the HP. It is a bit bigger footprint than the Brother and i had to find a different space for it, but i have been very glad i got it. The Amazon price is great and if the one i got on Craigs List stopped working, i'd get a new one on Amazon. I don't need the all in one function, we have another HP all in one, flatbed, that prints, copies and scans but doesn't have a fax.
The only thing i don't like is that the display is in monochrome is not lighted so it's too hard to see and if i need to see it i use a flashlight, but my daughter says she can see it ok. I would like it better if it had some kind of back light while in use. This wouldn't stop me from getting another one though.
Perplexing..........2007-12-16
First let me state that my 3 star rating is not based on the machine -- it seems to be an excellent value and time will tell if it holds up -- but on the frustration encountered in receiving the machine. As you will notice, you have to order the cable separately -- and it ships separately. I received the printer but no cable UNTIL DAYS LATER -- so there it sat, of less use than a doorstop. Why on earth HP and Amazon -- two heavyweights of the manufacturing and retail world -- can't provide a complete setup is beyond me. I'm sure the cable (standard USB to connect to computer) is right for 98% of customers, so why not include it? Add the 5 bucks to the cost of the machine, but don't leave us holding a piece of equipment that's useless without a simple cable.
Organize my documents in digital format.......2007-11-22
