Flash Voyager drives are fully Plug and Play with most operating systems and are backward compatible with USB 1.1. Their durable rubber casing is easy to grip and water resistant. The Flash Voyager product line is both enclosed in the Corsair proprietary all-rubber Flash Voyager housing. Boasting water-resistant properties, these drives allow users to carry more valuable data and applications without compromise. Several reviews of the Flash Voyager products have demonstrated the ruggedness, durability, and reliability of the Flash Voyager family. The Flash Voyager has been shown laundered, baked, frozen, boiled, dropped, and even run over by a SUV in many third party reviews. After all the punishment it receives, the drive continues to work.

good price/performance choice - 12/2007.......2007-12-30
I purchased this flash drive for its 8GB storage capacity. I have Sandisk cruzer in 512MB, 2GB and 4GB. Speed wasn't as important as capacity, so I did not buy the Voyager GT.
As for performance, the Voyager seems comparable to my cruzer flash drives. I copied a 1GB file onto the Voyager and Cruzer 4GB drive; the single large file took between 2 min. 10 sec. to 2 min. 15 sec. for both drives. This calculates to around 8MB/sec; which is slower than the advertised 12MB/sec write speed.
By comparison, the same file was copied to an external USB 2.5" hard drive enclosure in 60 seconds.
I may get a high performance flash drive when prices drop further; but for now, I am satisfied with the blue Voyager 8GB flash drive.
Just what I needed.......2007-12-28
I couldn't be happier with this little device. I bought it to back up my music drive in case of a crash and it transferred just under 4gb in less than 10 minutes! The rubber casing is excellent -- the only reason I didn't rate at 5 stars is the fact that the rubber tip cover slides off a little too easily and probably will be lost someday. The included encryption software was just superfluous to me so I deleted it to save space. If I want an encrypted drive I'll buy another one of these as the price is right -- I remember when these thumb drives cost an arm and a leg. All in all, a great product!
Awesome..........2007-12-28
This is THE usb flash memory. Lots of space and very durable for a very low price.
great for media transfers.......2007-12-27
Works great, faster than the 4GB model. Keep the extension cord with you because it may be too fat to fit next to your other USB devices.
Flawless but slow performance........2007-12-21
The 8GB works without a hitch, but, I'm disappointed that it took nearly 15 minutes to transfer a 3GB file from my computer to the Voyager (about 3.3MB/sec).

the worst product I have purchased from Amazon!.......2007-12-13
DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE!
I am sorry to say, this USB Thumb drive is without a doubt the worst thing I have ever purchased on Amazon!
Just trying to physically plug it in to a laptop is an exercise in futility! The physical operation of this drive is ridiculous.
Trying to delete the 'free' junk software off this drive seems to be impossible.
DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE!
Watch out for sand in your pockets.............2007-12-04
SanDisk - great company, great product. 8GB - I use for everything, but bought it particularly for review and editing of home movies, no problem works very well.
As I recall this Cruiser came with some kind of case or holder.... I discarded it, THIS WAS A MISTAKE!. This little device has some very close tolerance mechanical parts that jamb up or at the very least work very hard if you get any grit into them. I still have use of the device, it just work hard most of the time. Knowing this now for me personally, I would choose a simpler device. Still hoping the sand will work its way out......Still Cruising.
I like the Cruzer Contour.......2007-11-26
I like this USB drive.
It's fast enough to dump 2600+ file (backup) in a few minutes.
I tried it with Vista Ready Boost. Not sure about any performance increase as I'm running with 2GB memory, and don't keep a lot of Windows open. I'm sure it would help if your memory is on the low side.
The classy little Contour is sometimes stubborn to reveal its connector, or at least till you get the hang of it. It's a pull back/push forward to reveal, and push forward/pull back to close. If you've ever used the other Cruzer drives, you pull back to close, push forward to reveal. Wouldn't recommend owning both types, too confusing. It does come with user activated PW protection, and other software stuff if you want. You can format the drive with out blowing away any firmware. If somehow it does go away, you can reload from SanDisk.
I like SanDisk products, I use SD cards in cameras, MP3 (Rhapsody) .rax players, and PDA's, no problems over the past two years. Price keep dropping also. I liked this UNIT sooo much I bought another 8GB Contour to be delivered tomorrow. PLUG: Amazon is my friend, I truly find their prices, and delivery times outstandingly good! Tracking and customer service are also high on my list of what makes a good online retailer, broker, reseller of things! They may not always be lowest price, but a fair price, and you will get your order! Nuff said about that.
If you need an extra 8GB of storage, that's portable and fast, quick to connect, cool looking(not a toy), secure and reliable the Contour is a good choice for sure. I now have two. I do recommend this product. byit
Fast and loads of space.......2007-10-16
I will not list the specifications in this review because you can read it from other reviewers or the SanDisk site. Instead I would like to address some of the comments listed in other reviews.
Comparing this drive to my other brand, this drive is a little larger. However, anytime you have something sticking out of the USB on your laptop it can get in the way or accidentally hit, no matter what the size.
True there is not way to put a lanyard on the drive, but it does have a case with a hook for a lanyard. This is a much better idea for transporting because the drive is protected in the case.
The transfer speed of this drive is many times faster than my other drive. I transferred 7gb of files in less than 8 minutes and without any corrupt files.
The mechanism for opening and closing the drive is a little odd, but I have had no problems. It just takes a little getting use to. Plus, you do not have to worry about misplacing a cap.
The issues a few reviewers had are very minor to me. I personally really like this drive because it works great, it is fast and has a lot of space.
Completely Satisfied.......2007-10-04
I spent the additional money for the Contour to take advantage of the increased transfer rates. I am completely happy with the performance, the hardware, and the connection mechanism (which others have complained about).
I installed Linux (Fedora) on the drive and use it as my portable operating system, and backup for my office machine. I have had the drive in service for five months, used every day with no problems. On one occasion I timed the transfer of a just over one GB, it took 70 seconds.
The drive is by far my largest in physical size, but that is a very small factor in light of the high performance. For machines that I have difficulty reaching the USB ports I use an extension (wire) with no problems. The leather storage pouch is a nice bonus, since I have dropped mine a few time on the concrete (durable).

Sony 8gb Micro Vault is impressive.......2007-09-20
Hi, I have read several bad commentaries about this usb storage device on different websites and all I can say is I love mine !! It is not slow and I think anyone with half a brain would realize that even usb 2.0 h/s transfers will never be nicknamed lightning quick usb!! This tiny thing sure can hold a bunch of info and many mp3's even at 224k kbps. Like around a thousand at that high quality bitrate !! I never realized people are so impatient as to expect instant large file transfers out of any usb storage device !! For the low price you pay for one of these I think you will very content to own one of these miracles of science !!!
One ssllooww drive........2007-05-31
I bought this usb flash drive thinking that it was a Sony Micro Vault Turbo. Big mistake! Most companies making USB flash drives make two or more models that differ significantly in performance. This drive is Sony's slow model and you really don't want a large capacity flash drive this slow. It is hard to find performance specs for flash drives; you have to dig pretty hard and most slower models will not have performance specs published. Sony advertises write speeds of 18 MB/s for the Turbo model, one of the faster drives available. This drive tested at about 2 MB/s writing, a HUGE difference, almost a factor of 10 slower. I suggest you look elsewhere for a usb drive this large.

Flash drive for the apocalypse.......2007-08-23
If you're like me, you've got important data that needs to survive the impending collapse of civilization and reversion to violent, nomadic, hunter-gatherer society. So get this, it's waterproof.
Corsair Flash Survivor GT 8GB Ultra Rugged Flash Drive.......2007-08-04
Once out of case, is very small. Definitely rugged and well constructed. Certainly the quickest flash drive I've had so far. I positively recommend this product.
We burned it, threw it, and froze it - and the Corsair Flash Suvivor GT survived........2007-07-29
This is the USB key Jack Bauer would use. The 8GB Flash Survivor GT, after all, is shock and water resistant - and if your service automatic runs out of ammo, you can even fling it's hard aluminum body at someone's head. But how does it perform?
Quite well, actually. Older keys can deliver great speeds with medium and large files but are painfully slow when transferring small ones. The Survivor GT, however, is speedy with all file sizes in both reading and writing tests. So if you need to copy that PowerPoint presentation off of Salazar's laptop before the building explodes, this is the thumb drive for you. The Survivor GT handily beats the original Flash Voyager GT in all our read and write tests.
We also tested the Survivor by dunking it in boiling water, freezing it, flinging it against a concrete wall, burning it with a butane torch, dropping it down four flights of stairs, and attaching it to a car muffler during a lunch outing, and it, well, survived. It didn't look pretty in the end, but the data was still intact.
Not all is perfect with the Survivor though. Our unit, like others from Corsair, didn't include any bundled encryption software, although it is supposed to ship with TrueCrypt freeware. Other small problems: one rubber grip wasn't glued on the unit, and the device made an annoying squeaking noise when closing - not good if two dozen ninjas are parked inside the room you're about to enter. Still, if speed and durability are your top concerns, we can't imagine getting a key that's any tougher than this baby.
Verdict: 9 out of 10

Outstanding value -- my work horse.......2007-11-02
Outstanding product -- I have been using it for a year without any problems--files as large as 7.5 gb were uploaded and moved without a problem. It does have to be connected to the computer USB port; some hubs cannot handle that much data. Plus you need to use your computer program to disconnect vs. doing a hot disconnect. If you follow these simple and normal rules you will not encounter any problems.
One my second one, corrupts files, not usable.......2007-10-19
8 GB would be nice, but both of the ones that I got corrupt files.
Corrupts Data.......2007-07-21
This drive does indeed corrupt your data. I even got a brand new one with a Factor RMA, & the new one corrupted data also. Wish I had put some bigger files on this sooner & got a refund$$$. Even tried the format in NTFS file system, & that did not work either. Still corrupts files/data. Stay away from this one!!!
8GB USB 2.0 Maxfile Attache often become corrupt and unusable.......2006-10-02
I recently purchased PNY's 8GB USB 2.0 Maxfile Attache drive and was very disappointed. I would strongly not recommend purchasing it!
Large files placed on the drive often become corrupt and unusable. This leaves you not to trust using the device to store your data.
When I contacting PNY for a warranty return I found the process not consumer friendly. Customer service was horrible and I had to go through several hoops just to get my item returned. I must have had it for 45 days before noticing the issues.
When I sent the item back to them they immediately returned to me, stating there wasn't a receipt included with the drive. I resent the item with another copy of receipt and sent it certified. This upset me since I ended up paying postage twice.
When I did finally get a replacement drive they never returned my original receipt.
I am responsible for technology purchases (such as USB Flash drives) at work... I will no longer purchase devices from PNY because of this poor experience.
Seems to have a File Size Limitation.......2006-09-02
I had mixed results using the PNY Attache 8Gb. Works great as long as files are less than about 100Mb. Large files greater than 100Mb become corrupted for some unknown reason. PNY tech support is not very helpful and down right unbusiness-like as they refuse to answer my emails regarding this apprarent limitation.
