Customer Reviews:
so far, so good.......2007-12-26
Good product after about a month. I'm nervous about losing it, but the perk of having such a tiny USB drive is seeing the great reactions other people have when you show it off. Fun.
Good, good, good, broken.......2007-08-31
I've owned this drive for quite some time now (almost a year) and it's worked flawlessly for me. The transfer times are faster than mentioned in previous reviews and you can't beat the portability. I keep it in the holder on my keyring and despite my concerns, it has never popped out, even when been swung around and banged up.
All that is good and well, but last week, it just stopped working on me. I think the reason is that the copper contacts and the plastic surrounding them have worn down just enough that the contacts don't touch the contacts in a computer's USB port properly. I've tried inserting it into at least a dozen computers (I go to school, so there's no shortage of computers to test it on) and it hasn't been recognized on any of them.
The product is great, but if you insert it and remove it too many times, it may croak on you. I wouldn't recommend this for the constant transfer of important documents.
Good value for the money! .......2007-05-13
While I have noticed that this unit is not the fastest, the transfer time I think it still pretty reasonable. It is more durable then I see most people giving it credit for, and it does not come out of the carry case as easily as some people say it will.
All in all, I have been impressed with this unit and would buy it again if I had the choose. Two gig, for me, is a nice size and is considerably cheaper than stepping up to the 4 gig option. I don't like that you cannot pick the color, but at the end of the day who cares about that?
Definitely a good product and worth what they charge for it here.
Perfect Size. Finally........2007-04-27
I've had this dream, of having a USB flash drive I could carry on my keychain. I've tried, oh, I've tried. They always come with flimsy thread to hold it on your keyring, and sharp edges that hurt.
I've been staring longingly at this item for six months. Finally, Staples had a sale and I bought it for $20.
The rubber holder is smaller and much softer than a key. It has a plastic ring that fits on your keychain, so you can toss the floss. The stick iself is ridiculously tiny. It's smaller than a memory stick pro duo. SMALLER.
The software is stupid, but who cares? I didn't buy it for software. I bought it because it fits in my pocket.
Too Thin.......2007-01-12
The design and colors are great, also the size, I just have a problem with my laptop because the Micro Vault is so thin that doesn't touch the contacts in the USB port. My laptop only recognize the device in 1 of 3 usb ports. I tried in other laptops and still have the same problem.

Customer Reviews:
Two truly tiny thumb drives.......2007-11-18
As a computer support person, I have a set of utility programs I like to have with me at all times. Never has that been as easy as since I got Sony's Micro Vaults, first the 2GB version and now the 4GB version. Both are physically the same size, as small as any other thumb drive, but much thinner than any other I've seen. That makes them a wonderful addition to the tiny "survival" kit I carry with me in my commuter backpack daily. And, when I bought them on sale at $23 and $32 respectively this Fall, both were wonderful bargains. At first, I figured 2GB was plenty of space, but I'd overlooked the 1+GB size of my Oracle database client installer, so now I also have the 4GB version. As for the 2GB version, that's now in the glove box. Personally, I reformatted both drives to get rid of the compression utility (after saving a copy on another drive, just in case I ever need it) as nearly all of my utility installers are already compressed. I also ditched the cases, instead adding them to another case, along with other tools etc. At the prices I paid, you may as well go for the 4GB version. The only problem I've had is inserting them upside-down. That doesn't harm anything, but it also doesn't work. So now I double-check to make sure I see the drive light flash after inserting it, and if it doesn't, I reinsert it the other way up and then the light comes on.
Excellent Product.......2007-05-27
The capacity vs size feature of this product make it worth. The software Virtual Expander works very nice, maybe if you want fast transfer rates you will need to disable it. However I have the chance of get a lot more than 4GB using this software. Excellent bundle.
Amazing product, but only comes in purple..........2007-05-15
The product is amazingly small and works perfect so far. The 4 Gig micro vault tiny only comes in purple, even though the amazon picture looks blue. And the carrying case reminds me of some hello kitty accessory. I'd prefer something less toy-like, and not only available with a light purple, rubber (hello kitty) carrying case. It seems as if it could slip out easily of this case, but it just doesn't. I've carried it on my keys and it has not come loose or fallen out at all. Other than the color and toy-like case, it's an awesome product.

Customer Reviews:
Geat Size!.......2007-10-25
Great Product! If transfer speed is not an issue but size is don't hesitate to buy it. The compression program included works great.
PERFECT.......2007-10-17
I owned 4 from it :D
very cool flash memory :)
Perfectly compact........2007-10-06
Its small, very small and it has four letters on it that spike the price: S-O-N-Y. But, if you want a small flash drive that comes with a keychain carrier, here it is.
For my personal use, I plug this into my Sony Car Radio that has a USB slot. I didn't want a protuding flash drive sticking out of there; I wanted a small, discretely large USB device with a lot of capacity to put my MP3s on.
It is great ! I love creating folders/playlists on it and taking it on the run. Two great Sony products working in synchronicity, providing me with a harmonious existence. I was not concerned with compression software or more than 1-2 Gb capacity (although Sony does have this in those sizes).
To summarize, it met my needs and works great without any problems, therefore, I accord this device an overwhlemingly positive review.
(it costs a bit more because its super small and because its a sony. deal with it or move on) Cheers !
Size information.......2007-07-21
The size of all Micro Vault tiny flash drives ragardles of the color: 1.25 inches (32 mm) in length and about 5/8 inches (14 mm) in width at the widest portion.
In comparison, the length of the "OCZ Mini-Kart" is almost 1.75 inches (43 mm) in length and 6/8 inches (19 mm) in width at the widest portion. OCZ is meant to be attached as a key ring though and has an LED to show when the transmission takes place. The micro vault doesn't seem to have an LED.
The thickness of both is about the same, the "micro vault" being a little bit thiner (probably the fractions of a millimeter).
If you are after the smallest size possible, then there is nothing better (to my knowledge) than Sony Micro vault tiny.
Great Capacity, REALLY easy to loose.......2007-05-15
I loved this flash drive. I worked on all of the computers that i've tried it on. The only thing is that it is REALLLLLLY easy to lose. My first one I lost within a week; I bought a second one after that. I tried to be really careful about where I put it, I even started to but it in my wallet. But after about a month, its nowhere to be seen.

Customer Reviews:
Stylish but slow.......2007-12-11
I picked up one of these on an impulse when it was on sale at Best Buy.
The form factor is great. I was already on the lookout for a tiny sub drive like this. Though it might be so small to get lost easily. Fortunately it comes with a soft rubber case to bluk it up a little while in your pocket. The build is nice to. It feels really solid. Even if it gets stepped on, it'll last.
As far as tecnical performance, however, I can't say it's all that great. Write speeds are horrible* (100MB file, sustained write speed of around 1.1 to 1.2MB/s... and yes, that's on a USB 2 port). It chokes even more if copying a folder of several files. Right now I'm looking at a 15 minute wait to copy a folder of 700 items at 105.3MB total size. That's just not right (no pun intended).
So, for style points, it's great. For technical performance, I can't recommend it.
*These particular tests were performed on Mac OS (both Intel and PPC, Tiger and Leopard), though similar performance occured on Windows boxes (XP, no compression software).
Perfect.........2007-10-29
Something cool i have 5 diff. types of this flash memory.. REALLY i advise you to buy it if u like something unique & special :)
Very convenient.......2007-10-05
Very nice and convenient. Little bit too slow writing. I'm not using Sony compress software.
